It was built 1859–1866 as the main synagogue of the Berlin Jewish community, on Oranienburger Straße. Because of its eastern Moorish style and resemblance to the Alhambra, it is an important architectural monument of the second half of the 19th century in Berlin.
The Heckmann yards in Berlin are a structural ensemble consisting of three courtyards, with the front and rear court surrounded by residential buildings
The Hackescher Markt shopping area begins outside the S-Bahn station Hackescher Markt, located in Mitte.
A combination of yards with a lot of art and culture and also a spot full of lovely spots in a "background" of Berlin city center.
A museum from Otto Weidt, who gave a lot for Jewish community. We are going to go inside the museum and explain what is going on inside it.
We will go inside with the guide to see the permanent exhibition up close.

Very, very good. Sam has filled the tour with content and context, making it very interesting.
Free museum where you can find various areas created by artists that reflect the lives of Jews during the Holocaust
Hello! We are from Argentina, Entre Rios. We did the tour with Mireia. Super friendly, with very clear explanations, deep mastery of history, and warmth in her treatment. Highly recommended! We leave grateful.
Our guide has been Julia and the truth is that we liked it a lot, both the tour and the guide. Totally recommendable and very happy with Julia
The Jewish museum surprised me a lot. And Celia's explanations were very good, a 10.
The guide Celia was very good and very kind
Celia has made a truly spectacular visit to the Jewish quarter and the museum. Thank you
Excellent tour very well explained by Celia.
We have been with Celia. We were a small group, and it was phenomenal. We had a problem with the meeting place, and they waited for us. We loved the museum and how Celia showed it to us. Thank you for helping me and finding elevators to avoid the stairs.
Tino has explained everything and more, amazing super guide and super tour. From the beginning of time to today tour in a spectacular museum.
The Jewish museum is a must-see experience. In addition, the guide explained everything in great detail and with very interesting information. I'd definitely repeat.
A super interesting visit with Victor 😀 He explained this part of the city's history great. The museum is highly recommended. A taste! Thank you 🫂
I have been alone on the tour with Helena and I have thoroughly enjoyed her knowledge about the Jews in Germany, the holocaust and the architecture and art of present-day Berlin. Super recommended if you want to enjoy a cultural tour.
The experience was fantastic as the Helena guide as well as a great professional and with great knowledge was very friendly and attentive to everyone. TOP.
Very good experience, we loved it. Helena taught us the journey of the Jewish people over the years and how easy it is to reject what we do not know. You think about the learned beliefs. He let us feel the 3 voids of the Jewish museum and we talked about it, putting in our knowledge the vision of the sculptor. I wouldn't miss it.
We loved the tour of the Jewish Quarter and the Jewish Museum. Our guide Celia made it very pleasant and close, explaining in detail and answering questions. A highly recommended experience.
Sam is an enthusiastic guide and you rating she likes what she does. Both the museum and the Jewish Quarter tour give you a different perspective on the city
I really liked it, Sam knows how to coordinate the story with data and well explained, very professional, and knowing a lot about data and stories.
It was a Spanish tour given by Celia de Cultourberlin for Civitatis, I put it here because it was an enriching tour historically and very complete, it started in the 'Jewish Museum of Berlin', a moving and enlightened experience, since the architecture and the tour through its spaces itself is fundamental for the integral understanding of its explanations. Thus Celia took us all over the museum making the right stops, giving a historical background of the German Jewish community in a didactic and enjoyable way. At the end of the museum he started the walking tour of the Jewish quarter before the fall of the Soviet bloc, through the iconic places, listening to details you would never imagine; until you reached the area of the interior courtyards art nouveau (Hackesche Höfe). These structures have evolved from overcrowded homes in the community in question to a busy area with shops and restaurants. In one of these courtyards (apparently the least known) the tour ended 4 hours later, with an explanation of the social and physical ‘modernity’ that continues to occur in that area of the city of Berlin. Wanting it not to end there was a very endearing farewell for which I emphasize that Celia Martinez made all the difference. What we learned on this tour was helpful (a good background) to visit the Sachenhausen Concentration Camp the next day. I remember that this tour is Civitatis by a guide of Cultuorberlin, this operator could be doing this same tour. Fully recommended.
With Helena de Cultuorberlin we have enjoyed and learned a lot about the history of the Jews and the Jewish quarter of Berlin. This tour is highly recommended and necessary. The best thing we've done in Berlin.
Celia has been a very good guide. Of great knowledge about history and better communicator. Excellent. Highly recommended the visit of the Jewish museum and Jewish quarter
The visit has been very interesting, with explanations (I think) very well argued by Helena. We were with two little girls and she was always very attentive to how the little ones were.
With Helena we toured the Jewish Quarter and the Berlin Jewish Museum. We loved the experience. Helena apart from being a great professional, is very documented. Highly recommended
Wonderful tour of the Jidaic Quarter in Berlin. The guide Cecilia was spectacular. I highly recommend!! We learned a lot about the history of the city and the community!
I did the guided tour of the museum and Jewish Quarter with Celia and it has been very good experience. Celia can transmit and gives very good information about everything.
I have visited the museum and the Jewish quarter and our guide Celia explained everything very well. The tour is recommended.
A totally essential tour to understand the past of Berlin that Celia explained so well, without doubt the best guide we have had in the city.
Celia our wonderful guide. The museum and the Jewish quarter highly recommended. No 4 hours of tour but at no time does it get heavy especially by Celia who makes the experience very enjoyable.
I totally recommend the free walking tour of the Jewish quarter. Our guide was exceptional and gave us valuable information about the customs, daily life and sites that marked the presence of the Jewish community, also showing how these spaces have evolved.
We did the TOUR OF THE JEWISH QUARTER AND DU MUSEUM. Helena is a great guide. He told us many things and made the morning fly by. The Jewish museum got short. I would propose a tour just to see it. It is very worth not to miss seeing and above all, understanding... Gracias Helena.
A fantastic visit.Helena was able to convey and place us both in the context of the Jewish situation and at the historical moment of German society. We are excited about the impartiality of her explanation. MASTERFUL. Thank you very much Helena
Many thanks to Helena for the activity, her explanation that has taken us through a short tour of the history of Berlin
Highly recommended visit, second time with Helena guide, with very good explanation. Immersive visit in a highly recommended museum. Recommended 100%. The visit lasts about 4 hours so it is advisable to bring a bottle of water, you can take pictures and there are stops to go to the bathroom. We went in December and when you visit the Jewish Quarter we recommend wearing some coat.
A wonderful visit. Helena has an incredible background in the history of Berlin, and in the Jewish community.
Again we were lucky to have Celia as our guide on this amazing visit to the Jewish quarter and its museum. The neighborhood is beautiful and full of history, and the museum... without words! It's totally worth going. Highly recommended.
We just did the tour with the guide in Spanish, Celia Martinez and very good professional, has made us live the history of Berlin. 200% recommended
Visit, very interesting. To highlight the work of Celia, the Guide. Very pleasant in the explanations. It looks like it dominates the topic. It's been lucky to have had it as a Guide.
Helena has guided us excellently in the visit of the Jewish Museum and Jewish Quarter. Nice to hear you. Very interesting and very pleasant
Our Guide, JuanMa, did wonderfully. We saw the Jewish Quarter and Museum. We had to finish around two o'clock and they gave us 3:30 watching things and chatting. The architecture of the Jewish museum makes it a must in Berlin. FULLY RECOMMENDED !!!!
JEWISH MUSEUM AND JEWISH QUARTER: NOT WORTH PAYING 30€ per person. The Guide arrived at 10:30h sharp so the museum tour started at 10:50h. Once inside, he gave explanations without content, without giving any data of interest or that was not known by general culture, besides he had no change of tone in his speech and spoke in a very low tone, even in the street. It didn’t give rise to interaction, but it also didn’t come about because it didn’t make the visit interesting. Half the visit is summed up by him saying "eeeeeeem" thinking what the next thing he had to say or even READING THE MUSEUM POSTERS! Things got worse in the Jewish Quarter because there were no signs to read. I didn’t know how to make the transitions from one place to another, I didn’t finish the sentences and I was leaving as I spoke. The Guide had no distinguishing signs (umbrella or anything to point out where he was). There will be good guides of this tour, but the one who touched us well deserves not to risk paying so much money and I do not know how, paying 30€ per person, they send this Guide. With this activity we feel that we have wasted time on our trip and wasted money.
I really liked the visit, which was Jewish Quarter and Jewish Museum, I loved maybe xq of the museum expected me something else and I was very surprised! We were a small group and that also made our guide more attentive to us. Very interesting.
I toured the Jewish Quarter and Museum in Berlin. Our guide Romina, quite young, gave a great explanation, very heartfelt and above all, respectful of the history of the Jews in times of both world wars. Then we toured the Jewish quarter and visited sites such as the Synagogue and its ancient cemetery. The museum is shocking from start to finish. Super recommended tour if you are visiting Berlin.
An eye opener. A new and modern museum with an old-fashioned entrance. The building is enormous and evokes images that are easily understandable in the history of the Jewish people. It is asymmetrical and contains many spaces that clearly reflect the despair, oppression, pain and hope of this brave people. Here you really realize what this people has suffered and the strength to get back on track every time. For us as Dutch people, a complete space has been set up for the until now completely unknown OWC. Fascinating and moving (that counts for the entire exhibition). The fact that it is completely free makes it a must-see for anyone spending a few days in Berlin. Make sure you make a reservation and do a security check at the entrance.
Wonderful with Helena, a professional and excellent descriptions. You don't get tired of listening to it. An applause
It's very good if you are interested in learning about the Jewish Holocaust, but don't expect exhibitions of objects or images. It is a space dedicated to memory and information
Our guide Celia did a magnificent job. He took us through all areas of the Jewish museum explaining its architecture and giving free rein to our interpretations. They were very hard and strong moments experienced within this facility. Then we took a walking tour of places in the Jewish quarter with their due explanations, which otherwise, you would not know about. He also took us through the “hof”, from the most upscale to the most eclectic. Finally, he guided us on what other places to visit and where to eat. I recommend this tour 100%. Make a good breakfast because it will be 4 hours full of information and walking.
Jassmine(?) again. Once again a more than excellent guide. It is impossible to understand the museum and its sensations without its enormous training on the subject and where to stop so as not to forget and to feel what the horror was. The walk through the Jewish neighborhood was very pleasant and full of stories, not just Jewish, but about coexistence.
A very interesting tour. Our guide Celia seemed exceptional to us, very pleasant, very informed, very patient, she explained very well what the Jewish people experienced through what that piece of museum tries to convey, it seemed spectacular to us. Thank you Celia, you are a great professional and you made us enjoy the interesting nature of that tour. We will recommend it without a doubt.
Celia who was our personal guide, took us and explained in detail the whole tour. It was very enjoyable and fun.
