Outstanding academic overview of local Jewish history. Martin was wonderfully honest and knowledgeable. We saw sites and buildings related to Berlin's past Jewish population that we cou never have known. Remarkable to hear Jewish history interpreted by a German native and academic. Very forthright presentation.

Itinerary
The New Synagoge's grand architecture symbolized and celebrated Jewish assimilation in Germany in the 19th century. It is thus one of the most moving sites on our walk. Today it is home to the Jewish community reviving in Berlin,
Auguststrasse was once alive with Jewish institutions, for just one example the Jewish Girls’ School undertaken between 1927 and 1928. The school building, located at Auguststraße 11-13, is historical monument built by architect Alexander Beer, characterised by the New Objectivity style. Today it is home to an exhibit hall and a coffee shop that are well worth a visit.
A vibrant Jewish community developed around Hackescher Markt, where we take in the graceful architecture and stories of German Jewish life on Spandauer Vorstadt and Scheunenviertel (known as the “Barn Quarter”) in Berlin-Mitte.
The moving memorial is dedicated to the was sustained protest demonstrations by the non-Jewish wives and relatives of Jewish men who had been arrested by the Nazis and targeted for deportation.
Designed by architect Peter Eisenman, you will have a personal experience of passing through the sobering labyrinth of 2711 concrete slabs meant to represent Germany's acknowledgment of the Holocaust.

Ioana N. is a fantastic tour guide. She has extensively studied the subject matter, has lived in Berlin for 17 years, and her tour was completely immersive and engrossing. She handled sensitive subject matter with empathy. She individualized our tour based on our questions and interests. Highly recommended.
Excellent tour with a very knowledgeable guide, Forrest. Presented information in a way that was easy to follow. Highly recommend.
This tour with forrest was a very good experience in Berlin! Forrest is a: -walking encyclopedia -great story teller -very social And he points out things you want to know and see that we wouldnt have noticed without him!
This was an outstanding tour of Jewish history in Berlin. Our guide, Ronan, was extremely knowledgeable and informative. He shared fascinating stories going back in history to the Jewish people’s arrival in Berlin until the present day. And of course we saw many places we wouldn’t have recognized as vital to Jewish history in Berlin. Lots of opportunity to ask questions. I strongly recommend this tour.
A great experience covering so much history. We needed 3 more hours for sure! Lee was an excellent guide- professional, extremely knowledgeable and super friendly. We would highly recommend him and this tour.
Lee was so knowledgeable and so enthused about his subject. He was accommodating and gracious. We were so glad we took his tour!
Very good tour. Enjoyed the conversation, discussion and his own personal insight to residing in Berlin.
What a wonderful tour! Our guide, Ronan, impressed us with the layers of Jewish history in Berlin if you know where to look, pointing out many details we would have missed on our own. He was open to all our questions and tactful about giving us time to reflect and cope with our emotions at the Holocaust memorial. Glad we booked.
Fantastic tour; knowledgeable, nice and patient historian guide! Wonderful off the beaten path tour! Should not be missed
This was a memorable and meaningful tour. The Barn Quarter and Great Synagogue were so interesting and made us aware how deeply Jewish history is woven into Berlin. We were especially moved by the Rosenstrasse monument and Holocaust memorial. It was great to visit these sites with a passionate, knowledgeable guide. Highly recommended.
Excellent tour! This was our second tour with Insight Cities and I was so impressed again with the knowledge and passion of my guide, Lee. He knew so much about Berlin history even beyond its Jewish history. He wove in so many topics and then helped us get to our next destination!

Heather, our tour guide, was the best person to take this tour with. Her passion of the topic really shines through into the tour, and I learned so much from it. She is very happy and open to discuss things with you, and is willing to answer any questions you have. Would highly recommend to those who are looking for an overview of all Jewish history in Berlin, as well as specific monuments, plaques, and museums. Fabulous tour.

Isabel Daniel was an amazing guide. She answered every question we asked and was the nicest young lady you could possibly have as a tour guide. By the end of the tour we were inviting her to visit us in Los Angeles. She is completing her Ph.D in the topic we were exploring on this tour. We came away with a much better understanding of the history of Jewish life in Berlin from its beginnings in the 12th century. We highly recommend this tour. This small group turned out to be just myself and my husband.
