Itinerary
The tour with an Italian guide starts at the meeting point of Potsdamer Platz no. 10 (S/U-Bahn Potsdamer Platz). Look for the blue bicycle by VIVE BERLIN TOURS, you will easily recognize the flag with our logo!
One of the most famous and certainly, the most modern, squares in Berlin and an excellent starting point for the Italian tour to discover the best of the German capital. The guide will introduce you to the history of Berlin and show you the great and tragic changes of the city.
Together with the guide, you will visit this symbolic place in Berlin and understand how the Nazi dictatorship is remembered today, exactly where the headquarters of the Gestapo and SS were located. From here you can also see buildings such as the former Nazi aviation ministry, the beautiful Martin Gropius Bau museum and, especially, an original segment of the Berlin Wall.
Surely this place in Berlin was for a time the hottest point of the Cold War. The guide will talk about the construction of the Berlin Wall and the division of the city in the time of the communist dictatorship.
This huge and imposing building was built by the Nazi dictatorship to house the offices of the Ministry of Aviation led by Goering. At the time of the Cold War it was the 'home of the ministries' of the Communist dictatorship. Today it is used as a ministry by the Federal Republic of Germany.
The place where the Bunker was and where Hitler spent his last days. With the guide you will understand the meaning of the place and the reasons for its present.
You will be impressed by the stories that the guide will tell you in this place of great emotion. A symbol in Berlin to remember the greatest crime committed by the German state in the time of Nazism.
The seat of the German Parliament. Visit only outside, the guide will be pleased to explain how to book a visit to the dome of the building.
The most famous gateway to Berlin. One of the city's landmarks and the most photographed by visitors. The guide will tell you the story of the Brandenburg Gate, from the symbol of a king's strength to that of the Cold War, to become one of the symbols of German reunification.
You will walk through this great avenue, once the access road to the emperor's palace. The guide will show you how to recognize the various periods of construction and the wounds left by the war.
The square of the burning of books during the Nazi dictatorship but also the square where there is the seat of the famous Humboldt University and the Catholic Cathedral.
Discover, thanks to the guide's narrations, the monument that remembers the sadly famous burning of books during the Nazi dictatorship: a propaganda action remembered today in a very significant memorial placed in the center of the square.
Get to know the history of this very important university and find out who its most famous students have been.
In the idea of the emperor who had it built, this impressive church must have been the equivalent of St. Peter's for the Luetrana religion.
The most known island of Berlin, UNESCO World Heritage Site. The guide will finish the tour in one of the most famous places in Berlin and will give you all the directions to continue to visit the city in the best possible way. At the end of this tour you will have understood the soul of a city so complicated by such an exciting and tragic history.

I wish we had thought of taking this tour when we arrived! Our guide Giulia took us to the main sites within the city centre; you can get back later to any or all to experience them in your own time. She was informative and well prepared. It was interesting. Also she made sure to answer all the questions anyone in the tour cared to ask. We would have taken other tour were we not leaving the next day. Highly recommend.
Wonderful experience discovering Berlin (it was the first time we visited this city) thanks also to our guide Federica, very well prepared on the history of Berlin and to answer our questions and curiosities. Highly recommended experience!
Fabio was very nice, prepared, and helpful. He made the 3-hour walk feel like a stroll. Totally recommendable!
We had a really nice walk in the city with Alessandra explaining about sites and telling stories about them in an easy and pleasant way. Recommended!
We thank Fabio for his professionalism, preparation, and courtesy for the Berlin tour. I highly recommend it for those who want to get to know the city.
Vita is the name of the guide who accompanied us on the "essential" tour of Berlin's historic center. She was exceptional, always attentive to the group's needs, very knowledgeable, and engaging. She knew how to keep our attention high from the beginning to the end of the tour. It was worth it!
Great job, Silvio! Comprehensive tour for an overview of the highlights.
Recommended experience for those arriving in Berlin for the first time, which can be overwhelming. Sueli was a truly knowledgeable and engaging guide. We are leaving tomorrow morning, but I would have done other tours with them; it's a shame we didn't discover you sooner.
Excellent Guide (Paul) passionate who managed to pass on to everyone his knowledge, making us immerse ourselves in the present and past mentality of the place and making us fully understand what we were seeing both from an architectural and historical point of view. Great, absolutely recommended!
This is a great tour to get up close and personal with the history of Berlin. The Marsella guide was competent and very helpful. In late autumn you have to cover very well, the cold is biting! Highly recommended.
Paolo was a perfect guide, empathic and prepared .. a storyteller who absorbed my attention for 3 consecutive hours without ever boring me and telling me the true story (soul and heart) of Berlin! All the historical details that without him I would have struggled to find or recognize! Great experience!
Beautiful tour Silvio was an exceptional guide and despite the rain he was able to make the route rainproof ....... Available and ready to joke, he accompanied us to discover the iconic places of Berlin, giving us food for thought and advice on the city Much appreciated also by the guys who had fun
Our guide Antonella took us to the most interesting places in the city on foot and by public transport. Very good and professional, we had a great time, we highly recommend!
We did the "Berlin Indispensable Tour" with Elisa, a very good Italian girl and trained on the history of Berlin, from the why of the bear as a symbol of the city, to our time. Three pleasant hours made even more inspiring by Elisa to understand what Berlin was in the GDR era and what it is now after the fall of the wall, to understand its architecture, its avant-garde city nature. In short, an indispensable tour to approach Berlin.
Elisa guide super prepared, enthusiastic and engaging! I highly recommend this tour to better understand the Berlin of today and yesterday.
The guide, Antonella, was really engaging and helpful. Very prepared and clear in explanations. I found myself totally ignorant about the history of Berlin and Germany in general. Highly recommended tour.
Guide prepared and available to answer various questions. She's nice. Obviously the tour was the basis of the highlights that can then be deepened. Ideas also for experiences further from the center. To do on the first day of arrival.
We participated in the tour with the guide Antonella and we found her very prepared and competent. We recommend it to those who want to discover Berlin
Very interesting tour, great for understanding and getting to know the city of Berlin. Very good guide Elisa. Positive experience, highly recommend!
It was really exciting to be accompanied around Berlin by such a passionate and competent guide. The tour was thought very well to better understand the evolution of the city in all its historical phases and Paolo managed to win the attention of my teenage children for all 4 hours of the tour. Really recommended!
3 hours of exciting tours with Sandra through the city passing through iconic monuments.exciting rails from the creation of the city of Berlin to the present day. DON'T MISS
Three friends from Bergamo/Brescia... A Venetian/Roman guide.... A starry view. Paolo has managed with his anecdotes and cultural references of remarkable level to take us to a Berlin torn in two for almost thirty years. A pleasant surprise for those who had already visited the city, a breathtaking tale for those who had never been there before. Stories, quotes, architectural references.... all seasoned with a smooth, lively and never monotonous narrative.
Our guide Filippo was very interesting, he introduced us to the city of Berlin competently and with always engaging stories. Very helpful with everyone showed us aspects of contemporary life in the city and Berliners. Super recommended!
Paul B was an excellent, passionate and lively guide. He was able to involve even the youngest with a story of the historical, literary and architectural city full of transversal connections, never trivial nor notional. The rhythm of the story was always pressing, it welcomed the questions of the boys, even the most spontaneous, with complete and relevant answers. He was able to convey the history of Berlin with passion and irony. He sowed his interest and, beyond the time of the visit, we will keep a special memory of Berlin also thanks to him.
Paolo Brasioli, our guide, accompanied us on an unforgettable journey through Berlin, making us discover the tormented history of the city, with a special look at architecture. From postdamer platz, to checkpoint Charlie and the memorial to the Jews, Paul has managed to immerse us in Berlin culture and the stories of locals touched firsthand by the division due to the wall. I strongly recommend to be guided by an expert like Paolo to be able to better understand the history of such a fascinating and complex city, where every corner tells a piece of the past not to be forgotten.
I went to Berlin with my class and I can only say fantastic guide, very prepared and engaging, in a few hours he managed to tell us the story of Berlin in detail without boring us
Perfect and compelling , really accurate in detail Congratulations indeed! especially to our guide Sueli
AMAZING AND ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE. The guide, in our case Vita, was clear, thorough, ironic when needed, easy to follow even for children. He helped us all to feel the atmosphere that is now and above all there was in the Berlin of the dark years and he did it with great grace, delicacy, but also seriousness and firmness. There were many food for thought! Too bad I discovered these super-organized guys too late, I would have liked to do the other tours with them too. Highly recommended!
Guida molto preparata cortese attenta alle esigenze di tutti noi e la piattaforma già utilizzata in altre occasioni si è rivelata molto efficiente grazie
Good morning we did two tours Berlin indispensable and Berlin east wall! I recommend taking these tours to better experience the city, having the opportunity to know information beyond the notions learned in the books!
The guide, Antonella was nothing short of fantastic, involved us and his way of explaining we loved it, without we could not fully understand Berlin. Thank you.
We did the Tuor "Berlin indispensable" and it was really a beautiful ride especially thanks to an 'excellent Guide, SILVIO exhaustive and very professional.
Good route. Given the best sites. Good walking rhythm Consistent and easy explanations Good Guide, Good Language
Me, my partner and my 7-year-old son, chose a private tour. Our Guide, Paolo B., not only accepted our requests to delve into the most recent history of the city of Berlin but also engaged and enthused the younger Traveler. Super recommended both if you have little time to visit the heart of the city and, and above all, if you want to know and interpret the historical / architectural overlaps of Berlin today.
Paolo was not only an exhaustive and precise Guide, he transmitted to us all his passion, his enormous and multifaceted culture with enthusiasm, grace and with that bit of joy to motivate even the youngest to listen. I wish there were like him in every city. My kids haven't looked at their phones the whole tour. Luca and Alessia
It was a wonderful experience. Vita, our Guide, accompanied us to discover the city with a passionate and engaging story. It was wonderful the next day, walking back to the center, reliving some of those emotions experienced the day before. Definitely, as I already did, I would recommend it to friends. Thank you.
We did the tour to alternative Berlin with Silvio. It was a wonderful experience because it made us discover unique places, outside the usual tourist destinations. Silvio also explains in a compelling way and his stories are so engaging and lively that they immerse you in the artistic and counter-current reality of Berlin. Highly recommended experience!! 5 stars
We booked a private tour and were lucky enough to meet Mrs. Vita our Guide who accompanied us and transported us into Berlin life. Great explanation and great professionalism. Recommendation to carry out the tour at the beginning of the trip so as to have more awareness when traveling around Berlin in the following days.
Guided tour of the city lasting about 3 hours (Berlin indispensable). The Guide is a native Italian speaker and was really good at telling us briefly the history of the city and illustrating the main areas of interest. The visit took place almost entirely on foot except for a short metro ride from the Brandenburg Gate to Museum Island. We still took a break mid-visit for coffee/toilet stop.
Four steps into the history of Berlin with a 'passionate Guide expert in architecture, history, urban planning able to enrich everything with nice anecdotes.
Paolo our Guide immersed us in an experience where history, art, politics and - let me tell you - spirituality in his tireless narration involve you deeply leaving you breathless and full of food for thought even hours and hours after the tour. Top experience sincerely recommended!
We had flexible tours that suited our interests! Roberto illustrated the city in its evolution on many levels, moving from history to architecture and moving with ease on the various cultural levels. A continuous discovery of stories and anecdotes that are never banal for those who, having already seen Berlin several times, retrace it with the new generation who are not easy to charm!
The guide, Antonella, was able to involve and convey the emotions of the places visited in Berlin. Competent and attentive to the personal needs of the group members, she managed to spend 3 wonderful hours wandering around the city. Even my teenage children, who usually don't like guides, were favorably impressed. The tour touches on the essential and well-known elements of Berlin. I suggest doing it as soon as you arrive because then you understand the soul and history of the city much better. I highly recommend.
The meeting point was easy to find, our guide Zuleika explained so well that I felt like I was living the moments told, I highly recommend the tour
Our short stay in Berlin was interesting and exciting thanks to the guide (Paolo Brasioli) who was learned but also full of nice anecdotes...; his passion for the history of the city and his professional skills made us appreciate the city in a way we couldn't have done with the support of a simple tourist guide!
I did the essential Berlin tour with my family. It was a wonderful experience, Filippo was a perfect guide and managed to make the three hours fly by together. I highly recommend!
A tour organized down to the smallest detail and accompanied by our guide Zuleika, characterized by great professionalism, clarity but above all passion in her work. We will recommend it to our friends
We did two three-hour tours in two days of verses, namely "Third Reich" and "Indispensable Berlin", the first with Fabio and the second with Franca. Both were very interesting, the guides demonstrated excellent communication skills, adequate preparation and a lot of courtesy and friendliness. We were really satisfied.
Filippo was very nice and gave us excellent information even outside the usual tour. I was able to learn quite a few things
