Itinerary
The Federal Chancellery – an architectural masterpiece that is not only a building, but a symbol of the new Federal Capital Berlin! Can you imagine how much energy and vision goes into this impressive structure? It was one of the most significant projects that set the pulse of the capital beating. Who would have thought that such a landmark would grow out of the dreams of that time? Let’s discover together the living history and exciting future that this building project brings!
Ready to dive into the fascinating history of the Swiss Embassy in Berlin? Our guide is looking forward to bringing you closer to this unique narrative! Where exactly is this architectural gem, you wonder? On Otto-von-Bismarck-Allee, on the picturesque southern edge of Berlin's Spreebogenpark, a stone's throw from the Federal Chancellery. Let yourself be enchanted by the lively atmosphere and exciting stories surrounding the embassy – it will be an experience you don’t want to miss!
The Spreebogenpark has a very low-key design in terms of garden architecture, but offers great viewing axes and the many buildings in the vicinity of the park, such as the Federal Chancellery, the Paul Loebe House of the Bundestag, the Swiss Embassy and the main railway station.
The Paul Loebe House may not be a masterpiece at first glance, but it is the pulsating heart of Parliament! The engine of the Republic is called it. A vibrant place of democracy. Surrounded by a variety of interesting art installations. With a stoop over the Spree, it is part of the Bund ribbon. Learn stories about a special architecture and features of the rooms.
The Spree meanders through the heart of our capital. Who knew that it once marked an invisible border between East and West for 28 years? On its shore, the wall actually rose – a silent witness to a divided history. But today, oh how has time changed! A number of bridges in the government district stretch across the Spree, connecting the old divide with new life. Here, on the banks of the Spree, political events are pulsating. Isn’t it fascinating to watch journalists conducting interviews with their microphones in hand while the Reichstag sits majestically in the background? Where walls once stood, ideas and visions are now flowing. Who could not feel that the Spree is more than just a river – it is a symbol of change, freedom and the incessant dynamism of life?

Met our guide Jean Pierre outside the U bahn as planned and he led an interesting tour and talk about Berlin and the workings of government, ending with the visit to the Bundestag building. Much better than trying to do this on our own, which of course you can do with a visit only ticket. Recommended.
90 minutes. Thank you. Robert
I found Jean Pierre to a very informative and engaging tour guide. He effectively used visuals and knowledge to behind the story of Berlin and the Reichstag to stag. As a politics student from Ireland, it was fascinating to see the German parliament. I really enjoyed the tour
The guide was very knowledgeable and very conscientious. He set the pace but was gentle and extremely courteous. We really liked the way he conducted the tour. Would highly recommend him
A brilliant tour, highly recommended for anyone who like to see more history and modern architecture. Our guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable.
The guide Avi was very funny, and he kept us entertained while telling the story of the government quarter.
The event was in 2 parts, both requiring an ability to understand fairly advanced German (something some attendees had not realised). 1) an hour-long tour showing and explaining the history and purpose of the new government buildings around the Reichstag. This was led by a good informative and amusing guide. 2) Entry into the Reichstag for a talk by an official Reichstag guide. This was slow to start, and the extremely detailed explanation about how the German parliamentary system operated (eg how fast the stenographers had to be able to operate) probably went well beyond what most attendees were interested in. We then went up to the observation terrace and into the dome. The views were excellent (though not significantly better than from other viewing places eg the Dom or Fernsehturm) and a very good audio guide explained the sights we were looking at. In summary, I really enjoyed it, but don't think it would have been worth it had I not been able to understand German well
Very cool guide, informative and interesting .......................................................
Not worth the experience. The guide was rude, takes about politics instead of history. I would not recommend it.
The tour guide was exceptionally informed. Beeindruckend.
Excellent tour! Interesting for adults as well as children. The guide was very knowledgeable and interesting
Very good and informative tour, our guide Liane was excellent, highly recommended.
We booked a talk with Regional Tours but unfortunately they cancelled as there were no other guests for the time we had selected. However they very kindly helped us get tickets to visit on our own to just visit the very interesting and spectacular building.
No show by tour guy missed the first half of the tour but ……got to see the dome unguided With some contact from the company it was arranged to visit the dome
Great tour even though it was in German and I dont speak German. I don't think I saw that clearly when I was ordering. Loved visiting the Dome at the end.
This dome was amazing—and free! The views are incredible, and you’re given a headset that explains exactly what you’re looking at as you go around. Just a heads-up: they ask you to bring ID, and it must be your passport. I brought my driving licence and almost wasn’t allowed in. That said, I would totally recommend visiting!
Make sure you check when booking the guide is in English although the tour was great we would of got a lot more out of it if we could understand the guide I didn’t realise I had booked a German tour
The tour was fantastic. It is truly an incredible building with an incredible story and is well worth seeing and hearing everything. Our guide Robert was perfect. He speaks excellent English, tells a very interesting story and is great at keeping everyone's attention. We learned a lot of new and interesting things through this tour.
Excellent tour , Arvid was entertaining, informative and a very humorous guide who knew Berlin inside out and answered any additional questions with ease and in detail. Great images to add to the experience and some personal anecdotes . I am a professional tour guide in Belfast and Arvid ticked all the boxes for me thoroughly recommend
This is very nice tour to see the co temporary Architecture that merges today with the Reichtag. I loved to visit the dome designed by Norman Foster.
Brilliant local guide. He was very knowledgable and delivered the tour with good humour. It was the highlight of our trip
This was a fantastic tour, highly recommend a tour guide and Dorothy in particular was so great, very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. She was really sweet with our daughter Juliette too 😍
The tour guide shared a lot of interesting information and was very entertaining.
If you buy a ticket that includes a dome visit, it does not necessarily mean that the dome is open to visitors.
As the name suggests, it is an express tour. First, you walk for 45 minutes along the outside of the Paul-Löbe-Haus to the bridge to the Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus and then back along the Spree behind the Reichstag to the security check. Meanwhile, reports are given at certain points about the history of the quarter and the work of the members of parliament. After the security check in front of the Reichstag, you attend a lecture in the visitor gallery of the plenary hall. Afterwards, you can get an overview of Berlin from the roof terrace and the dome.
It was ok, but it also became very boring very quickly. Unfortunately not interesting enough.
Tour very extensive and eventful. Also, keep in mind that the tour requires good physical condition for movement.
Lots of interesting information from a tour guide who also possesses journalistic insider knowledge.
Our communication left something to be desired. On the day of the tour, the appointment was changed twice. The admission price of €32.00 was charged to me twice, so I still have some paperwork to do now.
It was very informative! From the tour to the Bundestag, everything worked very well. We are very glad that we booked this tour!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ **Highly recommended tour!** The tour of the government district was really very interesting and entertaining. Our guide organized the whole thing with a lot of knowledge, interesting stories, and a likable, relaxed manner. You could tell that he is very knowledgeable and enjoys sharing his knowledge. We learned a lot of new things and the time flew by. The visit to the Reichstag dome was also a great experience. **Many thanks for the great tour – absolute recommendation!**
The tour was very interesting, but also quite short. The guide was very entertaining and catered to us participants.
An all-around great tour. Our tour guide Christian presented the first part very interestingly. With knowledge and humor, this was a very entertaining tour.
Arriving barely a few minutes late to the meeting point due to traffic, I missed the group. Despite several attempts to call that went unanswered, the guide completely ignored me and I missed this paid tour. I am particularly disappointed because I canceled the free tour in favor of the paid one. Too bad about the quality of the organization.
We had Matthias as a guide on the express tour. I have rarely experienced such a friendly and competent guide. Gladly again anytime.
A bit too short for the discussed topics
We had an interesting tour with Tonio, he is very experienced and has noticeable joy to tell about his homeland. He explained everything very well and entertainingly.
We had our tour with Ekki and it was top-notch. Very entertaining and enjoyable.
An entertaining and informative tour of the government district. Matthias skillfully combined expert knowledge with fun. After the tour, hassle-free entry into the plenary chamber along with a dome visit.
Arvid was a super city guide. We liked that he was a 3rd-generation Berliner and was very knowledgeable, and presented the topic of "government district and government work" in a very entertaining and engaging way to the participants. He was very caring and made sure that the whole group also safely gained entry to the Reichstag dome tour.
Very interesting and very friendly guide, to be done without hesitation
Our guide Daniela spoke in a very lively, competent, and informative way, peppered with real experiences from the GDR era.
Very lively, friendly, and interesting tour! Short wait time for the Reichstag dome visit and a good presentation.
A must-do! Daniela is an extraordinary guide and the view from the dome is magnificent.
Be up in the dome, nice and fun to visit, pre-booked free tickets on the Reichstag page before the trip to Berlin. There is no need to pay for this visit. Sad experience, however, what the unpleasant man selling drinks and ice cream up in the dome, several of the visitors really wondered what was wrong with him, refused to confess visitors. Otherwise a pleasant experience.
Very nice tour and great presentation in the plenary chamber. A highlight of the Berlin trip for me. Due to carpet laying in the Reichstag, there were last-minute schedule changes. The organizer informed us about this directly and also gave us a discount.
I received the email for the meeting point the very same day, at 7 a.m.!!! As a result, not having checked my emails, I foolishly missed the tour; I am still furious.... You don't necessarily check your emails every day, especially when you are on vacation!!! There is an incredible lack of communication! The least they could do is notify customers at least 3/4 days in advance so they don't end up high and dry! Or else, warn that you will receive an email the same day for the meeting point... It's not so much about the money lost, but mostly about the fact that you have to book months in advance if you want a chance to visit the Reichstag!! This lack of communication is truly unacceptable!! I do not recommend, and will no longer use Viator! At least future customers will be warned by reading this review.
Super interesting tour around the Reichstag with useful information about new buildings around the old Reichstag. Also attention to architecture and art. The guide Arvid made it a fun tour with a critical note and a nice joke here and there. The tour beforehand makes the visit to the dome a complete experience.
Lots of own political preference And a tour involves more than 1 lap around 1 building Was very disappointing
