Our guide Alex asked us what we were paeticularly interested in and focused our tour around our requirements. We used the tour to decide what we wanted to look at in depth for the rest of our stay in Berlin. Alex was very knowledgeable, extremely interesting and Informative, answering all our question and we had good discussions around various subject matters. I would highly recommend doing this tour!
Rhys was amazing. Truly. Engaging and witty from the start, bridging from casual banter to historical detail - with subject matter-appropriate and subtle grace; It was no surprise to learn he is an educator. Could not recommend more; Rhys brought Berlin to life with heart-felt knowledge.
Knowledgeable about the sites history and how it relates to today’s environment. Not dry textbook style either.
Our tour guide Rhyss was terrific, incredibly knowledgeable, very wry sense of humor and irony, brought history to current times. If u book this (or any other tour w this co), ask for Rhyss.
Our tour guide, Rhys, was exceptional. His engaging personality, deep knowledge of Berlin’s history, and memorable anecdotal stories brought the city’s past to life in a way that was both captivating and easy to follow. He wove complex historical events into a clear, compelling narrative that made the tour not only informative but truly unforgettable.
Our tour with Rhys was absolutely incredible! We learned so much of the history and how it ties into present day Berlin. We learned so much more than we would have on any other tour! He even took our picture at a few stops which was so wonderful! Cannot say enough amazing things about this tour and Rhys! We walked all over! Rhys even recommended some great restaurants and other things to do in Berlin which were all wonderful.
I took this tour with Frey who was an EXCELLENT tour guide. Frey was very knowledgeable and I enjoyed taking to him about all of the sights that were on the walking tour in addition to the history of WW II and the Cold War. I was fortunate to be the only person on this tour which made it all the more personal and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this tour and doing it 1st thing upon my arrival to Berlin, it served as a GREAT overview tour !
Aaron was a great tour guide, with wide range of knowledge about WW2 era and showed me around WW2 Berlin and give me the Berlin experience and would definitely recommend.
What an awesome tour! My guide Rhys was delightful … funny, entertaining and most importantly, well versed in the deep history of Berlin. Take this tour. You’ll be glad you did!
Great historical tour of the city. Eugene had excellent knowledge and could answer any questions we asked. Very helpful too
Lots of fun, loads of interesting info. Cairan was amazing! We covered a lot of ground and saw the major points of interest in Berlin. Definitely worth it!
The Birchy Tour Company offered a personal touch, great tours offered and fantastic tour guide. Worth the money, time and experience. I definitely recommend this tour.
This experience was fabulous . The Birchy Company was excellent in communication, tours offered, directions to the meeting place and follow up. Their personal touch was great and you definitely get your monies worth. Carin was an exceptional guide and was extremely knowledgeable. He offered more than a typical tour of the highlights with his own experiences and family history. If you are on the fence about which tour to take, this one would be the one. I realize there are other guides, but if you want an overview of Berlin this tour was excellent. I highly recommend and if it’s possible I’d ask for Cairan. Thank you for the experience.
Lots of walking but great tour to see and learn about the main sights and also learn a lot about the ideology pre and post war. Ciaran was very knowledgable
This was our first time taking part in a history tour and Eugene was fantastic. The tour was very informative. Throughout the tour we saw and learned about several places of interest and significant historical buildings, memorials and places. Eugene was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and answered so many of our questions we had about Berlin and its history. Amazing tour and would highly recommend.
Amazing tour, Cairan was quite knowledgeable and gave us a great historical and cultural tour of Berlin. Highly recommended!
We spent a wonderful morning exploring the city of Berlin with Alex, our guide. The tour itinerary took in most of Berlin's must-see places. It was well paced and Alex is a knowledgeable and informative guide. The tour ended near Nikolaiviertel (Berlin's Oldest Quarter) and Alex was kind enough to walk with us just a little further to help us find our way there. Thank you.
We did this tour on our first day in Berlin and it was a great way to get oriented with the city. We saw all the main buildings/monuments, and our guide Rhys had insightful and interesting stories to share along the way. He also offered some recommendations on places to see, local restaurant, and local shopping. Highly recommended.
Eugene was a very well informed guide of Berlin's history and overall history buff. Walking through the streets of Berlin with Eugene's narrative made me realise there was so much that l didn't know. Highly recommended this tour - also the best way to see the city.
Rhys is a wonderful, personable and very knowledgeable guide. My husband and I learned so much that we didn't previously know about the history of Berlin. A perfect intro for our first time in Berlin. It helped us get a very helpful "lay of the land." We covered a good amount of ground and stopped by significant historical landmarks (outlined in the itinerary for the tour) as well as points of interest. We highly recommend this tour!
The walking tour of the City led by Eugene was super. I enjoyed all the main points of the city.
Excellent walking tour of Berlin with an extremely capable, knowledgeable and personable guide. I enjoyed the calm wander through the big attractions aswell as many that only a local would share. 10/10
We learned so much from Ciarin of Birchy Tours, can’t say enough about his wealth of knowledge and ability to answer every question we had. He is obviously passionate about all things Berlin. Very impressive!
Best way to start your time in Berlin. Paul was informative and comprehensive. We learned many chronological details that gave us a greater understanding of Berlin’s history. Everything else we experienced afterward, we were able to connect with better. This was our favorite tour in Berlin.
My walking tour with Aurel was truly outstanding! Aurel is quite the history buff and is thoroughly knowledgeable of Berlin's history, both in the 20th Century and before. Moreover, he is an excellent teacher and is able to communicate a great deal of interesting and relevant information in the three-hour tour, This ranked among the very best city walking tours I've taken and I highly recommend it.
Rhys was a terrific guide. The tour was both educational and entertaining. It was perfectly paced-we saw a lot, but I never felt rushed. The perfect way to spend my first morning in Berlin!
Rhys had all the knowledge you could ask for and and made it feel personal with all the energy he had
Our tour guide was excellent! We learned a lot and had great conversations. He is great and highly knowledgeable.
All around amazing tour! I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Berlin. My entire family enjoyed it.
I had a great morning on this tour. It covers alot of interesting places & guide is very informative. Small group & lots time spent explaining about each site in detail. I would definitely recommend doing this if in Berlin as it covers a lot of historical sites which you would not fully understand without the guide. Thank you ☺️
The guide is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic when giving the tour. He creates a natural rapport and connection with the group. Highly recommended and the highlight of our visit
The tour guide Rhys is very good with interesting perpectives on all aspects of the different points of interest.
Excellent tour with Al! He gave us a thorough tour of Berlin and knew the history of this diverse city. Al was entertaining and knowledgeable and even gave us tips of where to go after the tour to make sure we had an enjoyable vacation. Thank you Al!
We had the pleasure of being guided by Rhys. This guy could easily entertain and inform while being shown a plain white room, but given the abundance of history in Berlin the entertainment was in fact awe inspiring. I normally do walking guides and find them a great way to take in the local culture and history, but I think Rhys was the best one have ever had as a guide. A true student of history,he pointed out a lot of things lost to the casual observer, while tailoring the guide to the group. He gave no personal agendas keeping the information factual and humorous. This is a walk through history with some deep emotional themes, but from the stories he told it brought Berlin to life from the monument to the murdered Jews of Europe, to the story behind the picture at checkpoint Charlie. A fabulous tour and highly recommend.
Al gave a very good tour that included pre- World War 2, the rise of Hilter and his influence on the city, the devastation from World War 2, the Soviet occupation of East Berlin and what led to the construction of the Berlin Wall, and finally the fall of the Wall. His command of the subjects and presentation made this both an enjoyable and informative tour
The tour was very informative and gave detail history of the buildings and history. We covered lots of ground and toured many of the historic places.
We had a very interesting and enjoyable tour with Eugen. He was very enthusiastic about the history of Berlin but at the same time relaxed and courteous.
This walking tour was an amazing experience! Our guide was fantastic—friendly, engaging, and full of fascinating knowledge about Berlin’s rich history. Every stop came with interesting stories and insights that made the city’s past come alive. The tour was well-paced, easy to follow, and covered all the major highlights while also including some hidden gems. It was the perfect way to explore Berlin and understand its historical and cultural background. I truly enjoyed every moment and learned so much along the way. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Berlin who loves history and great storytelling!
This was an excellent introduction to the history of Berlin. Our guide Rhys was very good and kept us informed of things I knew a little of but he added a great deal. Would recommend it to anyone interested in the history of Berlin
The BEST tour we’ve ever had! Our tour guide, Rhys, is knowledgeable and courteous. He really impressed us in every way possible. We spent a lot of time exploring the city, learning it’s history, and appreciated recommendations given to us. We, absolutely, suggest this tour to anyone interested!
Cairan, our guide, was fantastic!!! He clearly knows this material. Very professional & engaging. We highly recommend this tour and Cairan.
Very dense and interesting history lesson on Berlin. I highly recommend this tour for non German speakers to get a ground of the monuments and characters that show the history of Germany Aruel was an amazing guide, 💯 recommended.
This tour was a great introduction to Berlin for us. The tour guide, Rhys, was fantastic. He was an historian and gave us so much information on the history and stories behind each of the sites we visited. He was very knowledgeable on all aspects of Berlin, the city both today and in the past. He was entertaining, patient, polite and passionate about this, his adopted city. We can highly recommend this tour and if you ask for Rhys, then all the better!!
FANTASTIC TOUR. Cannot recommend enough! Reese gave an incredible perspective on Berlin and all of the sights - from a geopolitical, historical, musical, artistic, almost poetic viewpoint. I loved every second.
We had an excellent walking tour led by Eugen. He was very knowledgeable, spoke great English and gave us a lot of insight into the history of Berlin. The 4-hour small group tour seemed comprehensive. It was a great way to see the major historical sights.
Aaron was a fantastic tour guide! Extremely knowledgeable about the geopolitical history, architecture, and social impact. He was great with our kids (11 and 9) and managed to keep them engaged despite walking around the city for 3.5 hours. Highly recommend this tour with him as your guide!
This is the second time in 3 years I booked them. They are extremely professional, have great knowledge and back it up with reference pics as well. Paul was amazing to tour with. He was witty, polite and professional I would have no doubt that any of the guides display any less professionalism. I would highly recommend
Aurel our guide was fantastic and so knowledgeable about Berlin. He was so enthusiastic and made the tour so personal for us. He showed us a complete picture of Berlin over the 3.5 hour walk from the historical site and the history of Berlin right through to the present moment. Aurel knowledge of the buildings from their architectural design and why and what they were made for. Explaining what happened to them over the course of the wars and the decisions on why and how they were rebuilt was so interesting. Aurel walked us through the tour using his personal experience to make sure it an easy to walk using public transport so we didn’t miss a thing about Berlin and its most important and impressive sites. I would absolutely recommend this tour and would book it again but the long one if we had more time in Berlin.
This was a nice tour of the city highlights. We covered a lot if ground in just a few hours. Our guide Eugen was very knowledgeable and flexible.
