Excellent museum. Truly inspiring to see something like this in Europe. The displays were epic and I could honestly feel the history behind the armor and weapons on display. Overall this was a wonderful experience.
A really interesting museum! So many artefacts, well presented. I particularly liked the masks and papers. So many swords and helmets - battle items. Good shop. Spent 1.5 hours here. Fre was okay but on the higher end of museums we visited.
What an amazing place. Quite a compact museum but what they had was great for somebody into it all. It made me want to visit Japan even more. Inexpensive entry and room to see everything.
Super materials, very well done digital touch points (information & videos). The museum is easily accessible by public transportation.
The museum was just amazing many things to look at and their usage of screens was incredible. I learned a lot
Absolutely amazing. Stunning visuals and beautiful items on display. Display also optimally set up for taking pictures: glass glare is minimal
Couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit the museum while here in Berlin. The interactive setting and way the artefacts are laid out is very impressive. Wasn’t busy and worth a visit
The Samurai Museum is a hidden gem and an absolute must see for anyone with interest in Japanese history, or history in general. The museum has an incredible collection of authentic arms and armour from various periods, including blades, spears, bows, firearms, and suits of armour worn by samurai and ashigaru alike. There are also other items such as artwork and items from everyday use. There are a wealth of interactive and informative exhibits available in German and English and the staff are polite and helpful. Cannot recommend enough.
You feel like a samurai yourself, when you are in there👍🏻 A lot of samurai and ninja armor and weapons.Really nice atmosphere.
My first visit to this gem and what a find! I had not heard to the Samurai Museum and was sceptical as to what we would see. I was so impressed by the beautiful displays and the incredible artefacts. The detail in each suit is armour has to be seen to be appreciated. No photo can do these ancient creations justice. This is well worth a visit and I know we will be back ensuring we book in advance to go on an English tour.
I walked past this museum a few times, but the entrance didn’t really entice me to go in. However, yesterday was Long Night at the Museums, so I took a chance and went in. The museum truly did not disappoint. It looks small on the outside, but I spent about 90 mins there. It is very high tech; adults and children will enjoy the interactive displays. My only gripe, is that the gift shop can do a lot better. Give tourists something to buy that can remind them of the visit. E.g the Tokygawa Art Museum in Nagoya has stamps that we can use on cotton bags or postcards as mementos.
It was a very interesting and unique museum where everything was very clear and very beautifully exhibited
Absolutely worth seeing!!!! All exhibition objects are original and are presented excellently. Touchscreens are available everywhere for information. In German and English. Also suitable for children, as there is a special riddle forum. 3D presentations, samurai armor, helmets, swords, etc. The admission is 17 euros, but it is worth every cent!!! The exhibition is unique in Europe and absolutely a must-have!!!!
Very interesting and atmospheric; for me, shortly before my first trip to Japan, a must see! Found the detailed descriptions of the helmets and armor and the production of the katanas very exciting. For my 89-year-old father, everything was a bit too dark, and he would have appreciated some padded seating (but he is not quite part of the target audience ;-). Highly recommended for anyone interested in Japan!
We really liked the museum. There is great information, quiz games, and the holograms are super.
A great collection, really lovingly presented with lots of interesting information about the individual exhibits and eras. Children and teenagers get a common thread through the recurring illustration of the fox and can gain valuable new information in the quiz.
Great museum for those interested in the old Japanese warrior caste, and whoever isn't yet will be after visiting the museum; also great praise to the staff, very friendly and helpful, price/performance absolutely TOP.
Tickets may be more expensive on-site. The quality of the exhibition is top-notch. There are efforts to make the exhibition interesting for children through interactive elements. However, the exhibition tends to be more recommended for adults.
It was a great experience to immerse myself again in such a fascinating culture. As a traveler to Japan, I immediately felt wanderlust again.
That was a wonderful visit to this museum, everything was very lovingly put together and displayed. Very interesting, especially for children. It is definitely not boring. Can only recommend it further. The entrance fee is justified.
It was really exciting and really fun and there were many exciting masks and weapons I have never seen before I recommend it for those interested in samurai
Not too big a museum, but with a nice collection of Japanese weapons and armor. Explanation of the history of the Samurai and and feudal system in Japan. Also fun performances with Japanese Drums, a piece from a Noh theatre and a tea ceremony. Also fun for children because you can follow a fox through the museum and take quizzes.
So, my child thought the museum was “good”. The exhibits are also really magnificent. However, I found the museum quite superficial: everything flashes and flashes, interactive technology and gimmicks. But I didn't really learn anything: about social life in Japan during the Samurai period, for example. And all the interactive players did keep children happy: they did not have any museum educational added value. And the pricing system is simply outrageous: make more money when the crowds are high. And that in a museum for children...We paid 27 euros for two.
A rich performance of high quality with many well-preserved materials, good explanations (modern and fun for young people) and interactive media. The amount of history collected is so much that it can be overwhelming, if you are not deeply entered into the matter. But all aspects about Samurai come offer.
Watch out! They have “dynamic pricing”; right in front of us the entrance fee should suddenly be 18,— Euro instead of 16,— (which was also much more expensive than stated on the website). I've never seen it at a museum. We didn't go in there. I think such methods should be punished.
Very interesting but the entrance is not really worth it. 18 euros and a rather small exhibition. But what is being azsed is very interesting. And well explained
The museum has a great atmosphere, mysterious and exciting and a lot of great modern technical gadgets. For example, a lot of work is done with light and all the information boards are on the computer. Click on interest for the exhibits. The children would have liked something more interactive or activities. Craft a sword on paper or 3D battles for the boys on screens. Overall 4/5. a great experience! Also practical booking system and family discount!
Highly recommended. Very well and interactively prepared. Not to be overrun. Duration when reading almost all information about 2 to 2.5 h.
We had planned less time here and actually got stuck. There is so much to discover and explore here, just great. There is also a lot to learn about the displays and this also playfully with small quiz questions. The exhibits are also impressive. And the interactive performances are also very worth seeing. The small shop at the exit completes a visit.
Good story about Japan's history and very accessible information. Everything worked and was inviting - theater, drums and the ceremony as holograms were innovative elements. Great suits and weapons!
Very interesting and informative exhibition. Digital media supported and communicated background information . The exhibition is also very well designed for children. The exhibition includes many original exhibits.
Tickets are available at moderate prices. With an online timeslot ticket, you can also get the ticket even more cost-effectively. There is much to read and discover within the exhibition. If you really don’t just want to whizz through, you should already take about 1.5 hours into account. There are great exhibits on display and at the end of the exhibition you can buy a souvenir for your home from the relatively well-stocked gift shop
A wonderful exhibition, presented to the latest technical standard. Thank you for the interesting, exciting time travel. Would love to come back ✌️
Great exhibits, super virtual explained. Other museums can take a look at this. History to touch and at a reasonable price.
Many objects on display: armor, swords, helmets. Display cases with interactive screens in German and English. A beautiful initiation to discover a page of Japanese history
There were many interactive displays and even a cute little hologram fox that showed you the way through the tour. In the exhibit there were many armor, swords and other objects on display. In the souvenir shop we took some souvenirs with us.
A super nice exhibition, lots of interactive activities in English and German, but easy to understand. Cinema, beautiful suits, characters and animals in full size and real many weapons.
