From the moment we met Steve, we were totally engaged and absolutely impressed with his knowledge and passion. Just the two of us and another couple (perfect!) Having a historian as our guide was brilliant. Steve shared stories that made Sachsenhausen come alive for us and we learned so many bits of information that we never knew. It was an emotionally tough day, but worth every penny. Thank you Steve for a remarkable and memorable day we will never forget.

Steve, the guide was well educated in the how, why and when as he explained the history associated with the Nazi concentration camp. Being at the camp was a humbling experience. Steve explained in detail some of the experiences the prisoners endured and how the camp operated on a daily basis. The cost was a little more expensive than many of the other tours, however this was a small group tour which gave Steve the opportunity to give moredetailed background information about the camp and to answer individual questions. Our group was made of only four participants, which made it great. My husband and I, are seniors and move slower than the others. So, we decided to move through the camp on our on. Steve was gracious.enough to point out some areas of significance and explain there impact on the camp. I would highly recommend this tour.
Excellent guide, very knowledgeable and personable. We discussed and analyzed facts relating to the topic. We learned a lot.
Our guide Gregor Berger was amazing! Gregor not only gave us a comprehensive history of the concentration camp but also spent time explaining the conditions that led up to the events that took place at the camp. Gregor treated the information with respect and reverence for the victims, memorializing them on every step of our journey. Gregor even tied in the history of post WWII Germany up to today.
Steve our guide was amazing. He was like a friend and made our tour very informative and personal. We were truly shocked at what happened at the camp and it opened our eyes to the events of not so long ago. He took the time to explain key events and showed us old photos as we walked round the camp. He answered so many questions and took him time to help us understand what went on. On the way back he even offered to drop us off at a market which was a lovely touch. We would 100% recommend this tour and if you get Steve as your guide it will be even better. Thank you so much. We will never forget this tour. From Loraine and John from England.
Very educationnel and enriching experience. Steve is an increadebly good historian. His explications are clears and very well documented. He answers our questions with knowledge and accuracy. If you want to visite a concentration camp, I highly recommend this tour.
A very moving experience. Be prepared to shed some tears. Very educational and informative. Tom, our guide was excellent and really knew his stuff. I got quite upset on seeing the pink triangle in one display as my son is gay and it really resonated with me. Tom was very kind and thoughtful, especially as he showed us the memorial to the homosexual victims of the camp. It's not an easy place to visit, but it really helps having a good guide. Was worth paying the extra for the private tour. There were 6 of us, I think it was, taken on the tour so not a big group. We had lots of time to look around and Tom explained everything in great detail. Wear comfortable shoes as lots of walking.
Excellent Tour By Private Tour guide. Highly recommend. Interesting. Informative. Personable. Attentive to guest needs. Fantastic Tour.
This tour was very worthwhile to learn about how things developed regarding the concentration camps. Our guide Joerg was prompt with collecting us and ensured we were comfortable for the drive He chatted on the way giving us history and background During the walk through the camp Joerg supported his commentary with a folder of photos and information to again give further insight into what we were seeing to support our understanding This is not an easy tour in that the information and more so the reality of what you’re seeing is confronting but Joerg did keep checking in with us and was flexible. I would highly recommend that you take the option of the private tour if you can
Great trip. The guide was on time en the vehicle was really nice. Thomas was our guide. He was friendly en could tell us a lot. Not only about the 2nd worldwar but over a lot of things that happend in Berlin. Our teenagers were also very interested and liked the guide.
Very professional. Worth the money and time. Would highly recommend it to anyone. I learned many things. It makes you think about many things.
Matt was an AMAZING tour guide. He is a wealth of information and I’m SO glad I booked this tour. I highly recommend Matt and any tours he leads. You can’t go wrong! Thanks Matt!
Amazing tour. He took us all around the camp and to the less visited spots. Very detailed explanations, we learned so much!
My experience with On The Front Tours was nothing short of enlightening. I did 2 days of private tours with Matt and a separate tour to Sachsenhausen concentration camp. My 3 days with Matt and On The Front Tours exceeded my expectations, offering a profound journey through Berlin's past that left a lasting impression. I highly recommend On The Front Tours for their expertise, thoughtful approach, and ability to bring history to life.
This was an amazingly meaningful tour. Our guide Tom was extremely responsive ahead of time and knowledgeable and personable during the tour. He answered all of our questions and made us feel very welcome in the group. I would highly recommend taking the time to go on this tour if you are in the Berlin area - plus the provided transportation was comfortable and made it so easy to do.
Impressive and well told history by our guide from onthefront . com Everything is explained in detail and our guide was open to "discuss" more then just the tour things. 1 tip, bring Deet or something, as in April/May there are a lot of musquitos.
Exploring the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp with our tour guide Matt was an unforgettable and deeply moving experience. From start to finish, Matt provided us with a comprehensive and thought-provoking insight into one of the darkest chapters of human history. Matt was a very knowledgeable guide, offering us detailed information about the camp's layout, significant landmarks, and historical context at each stop along the way. He allowed us to navigate the vast grounds at our own pace. I would throughly recommend this Front Line tours to anyone travelling around Berlin.
Thomas was an excellent guide who told the story of Sachsenhausen in an interesting and respectful way.
My friend and I scheduled the tour early in September for September 24th. We were really looking forward to it and planned the rest of our stay in Berlin around that date. The night before the tour I received an email from the tour director notifying us that the pick up location was changed but the 10:00 pick up time would remain the same. Since we were takng public transportation in an unfamiliar city, we left extra time to get to the location. We arrived at the pick up location at 9:30 and then I happened to check my email. To my surprise, there was an email from Musement sent at 9:27 AM to notify us that the 10:00 tour was canceled for the day due to illness. While we were sorry that someone was ill, we were also very disappointed. Fotunately, we were able to book a different tour to Sachenhausen for our last day in Berlin. Having planned our Berlin stay around the tour on the 24th, we had to change our itinerery for the week, and ended up missing out on another side trip that we had planned. Musement was quick in thier issue of a refund but the lost experience can't be replaced.
Our guide Steven is a very knowledgeable expert in history, and he was extremely interesting. A site that prompts reflection on these atrocities.
Okay. Much and detailed information on the round. The entire trip takes about 2-3 hours. Little old School with audio devices to borrow against payment (3,5€ per piece). 1 of 2 units run out of power halfway resulting in twice as long time at each information point. This was submitted to the staff of the service center, but only with the answer «entschuldigung». Maybe a general and a more detailed tour would have hosted a nice to be able to choose from?
