I would say this is perfect for younger men especially. Cars could be much nicer, and they really smell pretty bad driving behind the group. Overall great experience, need some experience driving manual.

Little concerned about no refunds policy. When we arrived it was not well organised but was a fantastic day. Great fun.
A great opportunity to see some of Berlin from a different perspective: by driving an iconic 600cc Trabi. Easy to locate meeting point. Reasonably priced at 180GBP for a couple’s two hour tour (we both drove given the opportunity to switch halfway). The Trabi was very authentic (a basic car with column mounted stick shift and immovable wing mirrors adding to the charm). Good commentary throughout via the radio system. We were very happy with our tour. It was a change from walking and we felt that we got a good introduction to areas of the city that we were later able to return to on foot once the tour had concluded.
A really fantastisch experience! On this tour you get to drive yourself an old Trabi through the Berlin traffic. You drive behind the guide, so not he is not in your car with you. While you’re driving the guide talks to you via an intercom in your car and explains the sights your driving past. You drive with a steering wheel stick shift, and the little cars have no heating (or a/c). Our tour was just three cars total, but the shorter tour of 1h15 was a group of 7 cars, which is nice to see.
So much fun! Our guide was hilarious and amazing. Great way to see the city. We took note of a few places we had originally missed to return to.
The Trabbi is a must experience when visiting Berlin before they disappear. Alex was a great tour guide, showing us the East and West Berlin. Based on his age, he had a first hand experience of living under the GDR regime and the changes following the reunification of Germany. Lots of history packed in just 2 hours of your.
What a fun way to see Berlin! The gear shift was a little different then my Golf R but you get use to it pretty fast! I would recommend this to anyone visiting Berlin! The hosts were amazing and interesting! Johan was our car docent and he was factual, personal and calming in heavy Berlin traffic!
This is great fun! My son had never driven stick before and figured it out. I had some trouble at a very busy intersection, so we had to switch, but we made it. Not for an anxious driver, as the streets are busy with cars, bikes, scooters, and pedestrians. But a great way to see a few must see sights and experience the city. People all over were taking photos of our convoy! We were able to hear our guide on the radio fine in the back seat. The guide waited patiently for drivers to catch up.
This was such a fun tour. We arrived at Trabi-World and got chatting with Harald, our interesting and engaging guide. After learning the intricacies of the Trabi gearbox on the simulator, we left in convoy, with Harald leading our group of three Trabis. We could hear his comments and directions clearly via radio and enjoyed his dry delivery of key historical events. The Trabi-Trip was great, a super way to see Berlin and great fun. Definitely recommend.
Such a great idea! So different to the traditional tour and you get to see the city from another perspective. The guide was so funny and knowledgeable as well.
If you're looking for a truly unique and unforgettable experience in Berlin, I highly recommend the Berlin Wall Self-Drive Trabi Tour. Driving a Trabant, an iconic East German car, is a blast from the past and a great way to see the city. Booking and Insurance: While you can't book your insurance directly through TripAdvisor, it's a simple process to add it on when you check in for just €25. It's definitely worth it to be covered for your adventure. Getting Started: Before you hit the road, take some time to familiarize yourself with the Trabant's gear shift. The stick shift is a bit different from what you might be used to in modern cars, so practicing on the simulator is a good idea. The Tour: Our tour guide, Thomas, was fantastic. He shared his personal stories about growing up with Trabants and made the experience even more enjoyable. The sights along the tour were amazing, and we had a lot of fun taking photos and soaking up the atmosphere. Overall: Driving a Trabant through Berlin was a highlight of our trip. The tour is well-organized, and the Trabants are in great condition. If you're looking for a fun and memorable way to explore the city, I highly recommend this tour.
This was the highlight of our trip to Berlin. Really good fun and the guides are expert at keeping the 'flock' together through the busy Berlin streets. Informative and exciting at the same time. Highly recommend.
Really good fun and a great way to see Berlin! Lots of smiles all the way round from both us and everyone we passed! Never had so many photo's taken of us as we traveled around Berlin. Thank you Trabi-Safari at Trabi World, we loved it and would highly recommend!
Great experience!!!! very unique and I would definitely do this again. anything from check-in to completion was great. Two hours long. It was a great time.
It was tons of fun and hassle free. My husband is proud of himself for mastering driving the car and we went away with a lot of laughs. So much history to explore! Believe it or not, three tall men fit in that car (with the short mom). People took pictures of us, and waved. We loved it. Be aware of the exhaust that gets in from the cars in front of you, because it can be hard on your throat. But, I would do all over again.
My wife and I had a great time with the Trabi drive. It's challenging driving a Trabi in Berlin traffic, but we survived. The staff is fantastic , the tour narrative is excellent,
The whole trip was brilliant. The tour of the city was so i formative. Bit tricky at first geeting use to gear change but soon mastered it. I would definitely recommend the 2 hour trip to get the full benefit
Fantastic fun and informative way to learn a bit of history. Thomas our guide was fantastic although how he kept the convoy together I’ll never know! I only wish they did other tours as would like to go again. Maybe I’ll have to visit Dresden!
My partner and I had an amazing time, something I always wanted to do! The tour was excellent, our guide, the nicest and funniest you could hope for! We had the XXL tour which meant that we eneded up getting the last half to ourselves which was a nice treat. The cars aren't the easiest but you soon get used to them, even with the 'simulator' beforehand. Absolutely loved it and was a highlight to drive around the city and past many landmarks & monuments. An absolute must while you are here, & be sure to buy a mini version of your Trabant!
Fantastic way to see the city on your first day. Heinrich gave us all the info we needed as we drove (and sometimes kangroo’d) through the streets.
Great fun & very funny commentary We learned a lot too. Quite an experience to drive !!! The reception on the commentary could have been a bit clearer but we were in a Trabi!!
The best fun you can have on so many layers. the driving experience is fun , viseral and be prepared to wave at the camera wielding tourists as you parade thro some of the best , unusual, and secret places in Berlin. Highly informative guide, friendly, and attentive, no 9ne gets left. Learnt so much on so many levels, but overall we just laughed and laughed with fun from start to finosh. Hugely memorable time, highly recommend
Absolutely brilliant tour Informative & great way to see beautiful Berlin Axel was an amazing tour guide Highly recommend
Very fun tour hitting a lot of good spots. A few sites that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Driving the cars was lots of fun, and I’m not at all a car person. Ended up being the highlight of the time in Berlin. Highly recommended!
My husband’s choice as we always do something transport related on our trips! We arrived at TrabiWorld and had a good briefing about these old Trabant cars. The pick-up area was fun of multi-coloured cara which look great but they are really small and not very roomy at all for a family of 4 (2 teenagers) however we squeezed in and off we went. We did the 2 hour follow the wall tour but there is a shorter one which might have been better in the 37 degree heat (we didn’t know this when we booked it)! The Safari did a one hour loop and then dropped off those on the shorter tour back at base camp. Clutch control was tricky but my husband really enjoyed the ride around the City in these iconic cars.
Great fun. Would highly recommend. Cars are good fun to drive and the running commentary is really good. You can squeeze a family of 4 in a car.
My old school friend and i were a little late turning up to the group Tour however the owner/manager Axel was kind enough to take us on a tour by himself. Much appreciate his flexibility and much enjoyed the trip around both West & East Berlin - all while figuring out the Trabi gears, brakes, and what to do with a whole 26 horsepower! An excellent way to explore Berlin, highly recommended - 5 stars from us! Justin & Phil.
Really enjoyed the 2 hour Trabi driving!! Took a few mins to get used to car and the gears but no big problems! Roads were quiet as it was a Sunday - thankfully! The organiser drove his car at front of our 5 car convoy and was really good at making sure we all stayed together - stopping after red lights to enable the convoy to catch up. It was great that we had a 10 min break half way round as we could swap over the driving
Brilliant experience !! Thoroughly recommend. We went on the XXL (long) tour. Two and half hours ..... Our guide Henrick (? sp) .... was hilarious .... we spent lots of the two hours laughing !! Guide gives a commentary over the 'radio'. He gave an 'official commentary' ... with lots of personal comments - hilarious !! OK .... maybe some of the laughing was nerves .... navigating Berlin traffic, whilst jostling gears & pedals, while on (for us) 'wrong side of road' ..... what could go wrong ? You become a 'tourist attraction' !! We were in a 'hot pink Trabi' .... as part of a small convoy ... lots of people took pictures / waved .... it was loads of fun ! Great way to see the sights and experience a part of Berlin's history.
This is a great way to see Berlin in a convoy where you are also seen as a tourist attraction with visitors taking photos as you drive past. The check in process is easy, the guide friendly and relaxed, the cars are old but great fun, no power steering or servo assisted breaks! We had 2.5 hours of great fun, easy to drive and fun touring around Berlin……a must trip
An unusual and great fun experience driving around Berlin in a Trabbi. Well organised and led by an informative yet light hearted commentary by Thomas. Would definitely recommend as a Berlin highlight
A unique experience which allows you to drive a car from the past, whilst listening to an extremely knowledgeable guide over the radio
Racism is rampant here. We got an older man to be our tour guide. Throughout the tour, he would only speak to the caucasiens. When we asked questions, he would just ignore us. During the tour, he would start speaking as soon as the caucasiens can hear him before we can even get close enough. I understand racism is everywhere but this was too blatant. If you’re Asian, please reconsider.
We squeezed our young teens in the back and set out on our Trabi adventure. Saw all the sights in a whistle stop tour in our line of Trabi’s. German and English spoken. Great option for a rain-soaked day.
Really enjoyed our Trabi adventure which was a treat for my husband who is a petrol head. We did the two hour session which pretty much took in all the sites. The guide was very funny and made sure we didn’t lose anyone in the convoy. Half price entry into the little Trabi museum along the road.
The 2 hour tour was perfect for us. Axel was a terrific guide, witty and patient and giving clear instructions for our convoy to follow. He was very knowledgeable about these high-pollutin' little cars. In our mighty 26 hp engines we trundled around Berlin, drawing crowds, laughs, thumbs up and paparazzi wherever we went. Learn history, see neighborhoods and have a unique motoring experience on a Trabi safari!
I really wanted to do this. Mrs came along and loved it, even as a passenger. A proper Trabant, not altered in any way so authentic driving experience inc. manual gears (they do have auto elec versions). Great fun. Grinned all the way round. Did the 1hr version, wished done longer one. Joyous.
Ok, we were ten minutes late. Might be a quarter of an hour. We tried to reach you by mail and phone to get to the right location. No answer. We booked for 17 pax. Got nothing but an hour of discussion. No refund. No alternative (shorter)trip. With a parking full of trabis. €800 is easy money, that way. The explanation "We follow our rules" is correct. But if than, you ask yourselve for your customers experience, don't be surprised to get this answer. Thiefs. Be resonable.
This is a must do for everyone visiting Berlin. It is so much fun and Martin is very informative and patient with a very long convoy. Highly recommend to all!
The trabi tour was so much fun! Martin the guide was brilliant informative and funny, pointing out landmarks on the way via a radio as well as facts about the lovely cars! They have an area to practice gears in the yard before you get in the car, useful even if you are used to a manual car as they have stick shifts. And don't worry about getting left behind we had about 7 cars in our group if anyone got left behind at traffic lights Martin just pulled over past it to wait for them to catch up, so don't think you'll get left stranded! You'll also get lots of smiles as you're driving round from tourists, it's a sight! Would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Berlin
Loads of fun driving a trabi around berlin, the tour guide axel was very knowledgeable and very witty.would recommend it to anyone on a trip there.
My husband and I did the Trabant tour this November. We took our small baby (almost 3 months old) with us. We brought our own maxi cosi which was no problem for us since we got to Berlin by car. We placed our son on the passenger seat in front because in the back there are no seat belts. We loved the tour! My husband did the driving which is a little different at first but they have a good "practice area" before you get into your cars so you will be fine. The guide in front explains a lot through the radio which is great. Got to see a lot of east Berlin and a very cool way to travel around, something different!! Our baby loved it as well since the Trabant was so shaky he slept the whole ride. Very friendly people at Trabi World. I would definitely recommend this, don't miss out!
We did the Mustang safari It is an unique way to explore the city and was lots of fun! Given that we drive on the other side of the road in our home country, we were slightly nervous but the guide was very easy going and we never felt that we could not manage the traffic! My only critique would be that we sometimes found it difficult to follow our guides stories on the two way radio - although the tour was advertised as English it was a English/German tour. And as generally happens when the tour guide's home language is the language of the majority of the tour, the commentary in English was not regular Other than that, the tour really was exceptional and we had a ton of fun
I did the bus tour with City Sightseeing the day before. Before getting off, we passed Trabi-world and I was enthralled. I had no idea this experience existed. As I have just seen all the sights, I was more interested in driving than looking. Trabi-World delivered. We were in the cars driving for at least 1 hour and 45 minutes out of the 2 hour and 15 minute trip. While most of it was 30 km/h driving, near the end, we were able to “open them up” to close to 60 km/h. I loved it but I’ll caution you it is not for everyone. I’m a petrol-head and love driving. I’ve always wanted to try the Trabi and this ticked the box. However, if you are looking for a sightseeing trip, look elsewhere. We stopped at a guard tower and in the middle of no-mans land and that is it, despite what the web site stated. It is noisy in the car and the speaker is the equivalent of a CB except you can’t talk back. I would say I heard about 75% of what Henrik (our guide) was saying. Additionally, if you want to take pictures, bring someone else as you really can’t take photos and drive at the same time. Finally, be flexible. Our tour started late, but don’t worry, it ended late so you got plenty of wheel time. The other posts about being laid back are definitely true. The guide was late and he was cool about everything. The only thing he did was make us sign the waivers. No license check, no breathalyzer, no nothing. Which leads me to one thing the company can’t control - the other drivers! I knew what I was doing, keeping the Trabi revving high and my ride rewarded me with a relatively smoke free, quick drive after warm-up. The other 2 cars in my party really had no idea what they were doing. They frequently got caught at lights and the guide and I (I was right behind the guide) spent a lot of time waiting for the others. I can’t comment on the exhaust as the guide’s car was electric and I had clean air behind him. Bottom line - if you want to drive a Trabant, there are not many options out there. This is the best. If you want to see Berlin, ride the bus.
On second day in Berlin our son (18) said there's a 2 hr, tour where you can drive a Trabi, had no idea what he was talking about but we said OK ! These former GDR produced cars were as original as can be, manual drive and basic. The teens were in one and parents (us) were in a jeep open air version. You follow each other with the guide driving a zippy electric car and speaking through a speaker into each car. Terrific guide, lots of humor and good information. We went ALL over and stopped at part of the wall where it was first put up and learned so much about East Berlin. Third car in the tour was a family from Copenhagen in a Mustang convertible which was harder to maneuver than the small Trabi's. All in all a wonderful experience once my Mom nerves were calmed and the teens were safely driving along behind us, remember there are pedestrians and bikers on top off all the buses and cars ! It was definitely a highlight of our time in Berlin !
This was so much fun, although a little scary at times! We paid for the short tour and they invited us to do the long one for the same price (I think so we could tag along with another group). The guide in the lead car was really helpful and funny. You get a very brief chance to practice off road before you're on the road. As we were the last of 4 cars we got stuck at traffic lights a few times but the guide always noticed and spoke to us over the intercom to let us know the others were waiting just ahead. We got to see loads of Berlin and stopped halfway round for a coffee and to change drivers. Lots of people waved and took photos of the Trabis as we drove around, we felt like a tourist attraction ourselves! This was possibly the most fun thing we did in Berlin - it was great!
It was just a Trabant ride through Berlin. Nothing more and nothing less. Unfortunately, everything was explained in German and English, so there was sometimes little time for directions before the turns. Also, it was not 2:15 hours as described. But what bothered me the most was the bit of clutter in the backyard. When you receive guests and tourists, you should lend a hand, remove some weeds, and clean up.
Super fun and good value for money
