We were a family group. We booked 2 cars for our 1st day in Berlin. We were welcomed by Zimon who was amazing from start to finish. He managed to keep all cars in convoy providing a hilarious commentary for the trip which was entertaining but also informative. A great first day experience in Berlin. Meeting point is perfectly located near Checkpoint Charlie. Note - there is very little room in the back of the cars, so not entirely suitable for a tall group of 4!

This was so much fun! Driving the iconic little Trabant through Berlin city centre was such a great experience and some we won’t forget. Our guide was brilliant and though we were the only English couple on the tour, he never forgot we were there and repeated his commentary in English - just for us. We would highly recommend doing this tour!
What a hoot!! Guided tour trough Berlin, As you drive a historic Trabi car. The 3 on the tree manual Trabi was easy to learn. Throughout Berlin we had many tourists take pictures of our group of 4 Trabi cars, as we toured Berlin.
Awesome way to see Berlin. Worth every penny. Cars were great. Everyone was videoing and taking pictures as we drove through the city. Our guide(so mad we forgot his name) was perfect. Do it!
Booked a tour on a day when much of the historic centre had road closures so we didn’t go the usual route, and therefore didn’t see many of the expected sights. No notice unfortunately. I know it’s outside of their control but I assume they had knowledge of the planned road closures and could have contacted us. Also was told that we could swap drivers half way through but this did it happen which was disappointing.
We were 4 girls in two cars out of 5 cars (last in row) and had a huge blast, this was so much fun. The trip is 1h 15min, but we went for much longer then that 👌🏽 no matter what, this is for sure value for money. It takes some gas to keep the oldschool East German Trabant, two-stroke going, which doesn't exactly sound well-oiled - gear by the steering wheel and off you go. A bit nervous in the beginning but we handled it quickly. This was iconic! A fantastic way of sightseeing in a different way. There is a guide speaking through the radio, telling you the stories as we drive but the sound was not that clear, and one of our cars had to shut it off bc it was only noise like an old walkie talkie. The only tiny minus. Otherwise this was amazing and we laugh and smile through it all. Pedestrians smiled, waved and took pictures as we driver by. We definitely recommend 🚗👏🏼 we also got a firm handshake and highly praise for the Danish driving, the guide didn’t see that coming bc we ofc slayed it and the others maybe less - so Denmark keep up the great statistics. 💃🏽💃🏼💃🏻💃🏾
It was a very exciting tour guidning driving around in Berlin! Very recommendable😎👍
Its brilliant fun and can be chaotic. Highly recommended
A real authentic experience, driving the streets of Berlin from a car that is iconic of the soviet era. I found the Trabi to be surprisingly easy to drive and once you get the hang of it the clutch is very good.
A very unique experience. Stressful as hell, and I have experience driving old manual cars, e.g. 70s Fords. But this was more like driving an old tractor. Not for the faint hearted, but an excellent thing to do if you have the constitution for it. I'm pretty sure I accidentally went into reverse twice along the route 🙈. Our guide, Harold I think, was a lovely guy and we had a nice chat afterwards (as me and my wife downed a much needed post-drive beer back at the kiosk). Highly recommend but not for the nervous!!!
This was a highlight of my trip to Berlin! It was such a great way to see the city, wonderful experience and a great guide. So much fun. Highlights for me were driving through Checkpoint Charlie and along the Eastside Gallery.
Fantastic tour of Berlin. Information in the cars via radio. Leader made sure everybody kept up. Highly recommended.
Very knowledgeable guide, characterful cars, a great immersive experience
This was the best thing I did on my recent trip to Berlin! You have a radio in the car so that the guide can tell you about the sights as you cruise past.
Fantastic tour in the coolest car. Had a really good time especially figuring out how to drive the Trabant
I’m so glad we did this. What an experience, it was by far the best thing we have done in Berlin.
My wife treated me to a drive around Berlin for my 50th birthday whilst staying for 4 days I absolutely love Berlin I've never felt so welcomed in any city, our guide ( I'm so sorry I forgot his name) he was so funny and told us everything about the places if interest on the way around, it was a real bucket list thing to do and I can't recommend it enough. When I go to Berlin again, and I'm definitely going again, it'll be on the list of things to do again! Best wishes and much love trabi-world from Martin and Tara.
Absolutely brilliant, I drove an electric one as it was my first time driving abroad. Thomas was fantastic, reassuring and caring and superbly informative. We drove all over Berlin and now I see the city differently. A lot of fun doing this highly recommended, ask for Thomas , his English is brilliant and his humour likewise!
Our guide was humorous throughout and very informative. We strangely became a part of other Berlin tourists experience. This was a great experience. Sunny day, history tour and the smell of 2 stroke in the air. What a day!
What a disaster. Started 45 minutes late, ended 15 minutes less than what we paid for. The guide was terrible. He couldn't manage the cars and he kept leaving people behind and having to stop to wait for other cars. One broke down and he did not really help. I have done this tour three other tours before with this company and it has really fallen apart.
We had a great time driving the Trabi around Berlin! The guide/mother duck was very friendly and informative guiding us ducklings through the streets and pointing out landmarks.
It was an amazing 2 hr drive around Berlin the guide was very informative and entertaining it’s such a great way to see the city I’d personally say it was the highlight of my trip to Berlin
Brilliant trabi tour informative and interesting. Saw some interesting sights and Berlin Wall. Experience if driving a trabi was great
When we arrived, we booked in and looked around the different Trabi’s around and had a go on the ‘Trabi Simulator’ – Once the previous tour returned, we were alloctated our tour and taken on a safe tour around Berlin. We got to see some excellent sights including the graffiti on the Berin Wall and both the sights of East and West Berlin before the wall had come down. All this while talking us safely around the city. This was an excellent activity and something we have recommended to friends who have since visited Berlin.
Amazing! This was the highlight of our weekend in Berlin, to actually drive an Iconic piece of european history around the beautiful city of Berlin was simply wonderful. The tour it's self was brilliant, the tour guide in the lead car was really informative and knowledagable. We took in most of the major landmarks in Berlin but perhaps most poignantly, we drove along East park, besides the wall where we stopped for a photo op and to change drivers, then later on we drove through Check Point Charlie! All the staff were really friendly and clearly work hard to keep these troublesome cars running! A go on the Trabi Simulator is a must, there is an impressive array of modded Trabants on site to look around and at the end of the tour you get your very own DDR Drivers Licence.
One of the best things we did in Berlin. Hard to hear the guide's voice over the radio due to the engine noise and concentrating on driving but added to the fun sense of chaos.
Awesome and fun way to get your bearings around Berlin. Our guide (Thomas) was very knowledgeable and the easy pace made the experience enjoyable.
Very nervous at first to drive the stick but it was super easy and fun!!! Great way to see the city, relax the legs before marathon !
What a blast from the past! Getting to drive the Trabi through Berlin while getting a tour at the same time was exciting and fun! The entire staff was amazing. I had expereinc with a clutch and a column shift, so I was right at home with the little machine. I might suggest that the person who has some "clutch" driving experience (2 or 4 wheel) be the driver as navigating the city in a line on a busy summer day requires full attention.
A lot of fun driving this historic cars around Berlin like a row of little ducklings trying not to lose sight of their mother. Our guide was encouraging (“wunderbar!”), entertaining, and hilarious. He spoke excellent English, seamlessly switching between English and German for all drivers. It’s a great way to experience the city and do something a bit different.
What a fun way to see the East side of Berlin! We really enjoyed our tour - we opted for the shorter tour and it was a perfect length of time
Great fun driving the Trabi - a unique experience in itself, although I would only recommend for drivers confident with an automatic/stick-shift vehicle - you need to be kind to the old cars! We saw lots of sights and our guide was very informative and fun - kept things interesting and was good at waiting for us to catch up of we got caught at lights. I didn't kill my family with my driving, which added to the excitement! LOL! Very close to Checkpoint Charlie and a section of the wall + the Rittersport shop.
Really fun tour with the difficult to drive Trabant, I’d say the hour long version is enough particularly with my old knees!
The trabi world base was just down the road from our hotel. We decided to enquire on price and availability, it turned out they had space available on the tour leaving in 10 minutes. It was a fantastic activity. The cars are quirky old things and you get plenty of looks and waves as you go through the city. The tour leader (Axel) was really friendly and knowledgeable. I had a smile on my face the whole time driving around the city. I would 100% recommend this to anyone
My husband was really keen on the self drive tour so I encouraged him to book it and I'm glad we did. I'm not too sure about the historical immersion of driving a Trabant around modern day Berlin, but it was just great fun! Driving in convoy, hearing the guide (who was excellent!) over the radio and stopping to fill the cars was all just a really entertaining afternoon! As fascinating as Berlin is, there is an inevitable heaviness to many of the museums and attractions. The trabi safari offered a lighter take, and we loved it.
Fun & unique experience of Berlin, shift stick, 2 stroke engine drive with witty commentary on life in east Berlin when the Trabi ruled the road. The line of Trabant cars becomes part of the city’s tourist attraction.
An absolutely amazing experience! A white-knuckle ride through Berlin’s history, made all the more immersive by the unmistakable eau de Trabi. The tour was brilliantly curated by our guide, “safety first” Thomas, who somehow managed to deliver a fascinating and engaging commentary for the full two hours—all while navigating the city’s streets in these iconic cars. A perfect mix of history, humor, and adrenaline. Cannot recommend this tour highly enough!
Absolutely fantastic and only available in two places on earth, Berlin and Dresden. This tour is a must do and you’ll see as much as any bus tour and you’ll laugh for the whole trip. Trabants turn heads and expect to have your photo taken by lots of people as you drive along. Ideal for two people and I’d suggest getting extra cars if your group is bigger and everyone will see what the guide driving the first car is actually talking about. You’ll hear the live tour through the car radio and there are no more than six Trabis in the convoy. Our guide was Tim ( March 12) and he did a great job which included a full briefing on the car before you drive. This is something I would do again when I return to Berlin.
One of the highlights of our trip to Berlin was the Trabi self drive tours. We had Tomas and he was brilliant and very funny guide. The first 20 mins you have to concentrate getting the car thru the gears but it was hilarious and the whole family enjoyed it, we did the XXL tour and it’s definitely worth it to see Berlin from a new experience. Recommended for confident drivers 😀
Done a lot of crazy stuff in my time and this was up there with the best of them! Not for you if you're not a confident driver or used to driving on the right, because it takes all your focus initially to just get the car moving and in and out of gear! After that it's hilarious as you go through the streets in convoy. Chance for a wee chat during and after with your fellow drivers to relive all the escapades along the way!
I had forgotten that this has featured on Rick Stein's Long Weekend Episode in Berlin, and booked this before re-watching it before our trip. I have to admit it worried me a bit and we had the same experience in not being able to successfully change gears. However I wanted to do this after a friend has shared photos on Facebook. This was a very different and unique way to do a City Tour, it was great fun and Matthias our guide was patient, informative, friendly and very trustworthy. In his safe hands, we had a fun time. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Berlin. The Trabi is an historic and iconic symbol of the fall of the Iron Curtain.
Absolutely great craic!! Fantastic experience getting to drive around Berlin and a lot of fun driving the trabi. Me and my partner had a lot of fun and laughter.
This was hilarious. A group of four of us crammed into one of these cars driving round Berlin in the rain. There are no words! I haven't laughed so much in a long time I was a bit dubious about it but it was very well organised The guide kept stopping at safe points for others to catch up We did it the first day we arrived so we could pick out locations we would want to go to You definitely should give it a go
This was good fun. Host was a really nice, friendly guy. Diversions were in place due to preparations for celebrations in Berlin but rather than cutting the tour short to time , he made sure we did the whole route. We saw lots of areas we would not have walked to as well as having the fun of driving a Trabi. They truly are terrible, but my husband loved it. We were also a tourist attraction as we drove around with people taking pics of the Trabi convoy. I was pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed this.
We had a great time! Simon was a brilliant guide, providing commentary in both German and English (we were the only English speakers in the convoy), very helpful and very funny.
Great way to see the city and so much fun. Thomas our guide was brilliant and kept us entertained. Lots of people took our pictures as we drove though Berlin in our mini convoy of Trabi’s. Would recommend as a great alternative way to see the city.
So much fun and a unique way to see Berlin! My husband drove because I am terrible at shifting. Saw so much of the city in two hours. Our guide, Axel, is very knowledgeable and helpful. Two thumbs up!
Amazing experience, a different and fun way to see and appreciate Berlin. The highlight of our week here. The cars themselves are an amazing piece of history and so exciting to drive. Would definitely to recommend to anyone, whether it's your first time to Berlin or 100th
Very unique and fun experience! Guides are so friendly. You do need a driver who knows how to drive standard car. Each car can comfortably sit 3 you get to switch to a different driver half way into the tour.
Actually driving in such an old car, that is basicly a symbol of East Germany. Was a great experience.
