Lee gave a great food tour. He explained the various origins of the food we tasted and he gave us general historical significance of the area.

Juan was very knowledgable about the history and culture of Berlin and its foods. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience and the neighborhoods we visited. We highly recommend this tour, it was awesome!
Elisabetta met us and our tour started straight away . We didn’t walk far but we travelled the world and covered some history in the three hours. The food was good. My favourite the pork loaf sandwich. Elisabetta accommodated our food and drink needs: including vegetarian and non beer drinking.
Our guide, Lee did a great job of improvising after we figured out the meeting point location had changed and we got a later start. However, the food was not worth the price of this tour.
We were fortunate enough to have our guide, Tiago, to ourselves. He gave us such an amazing experience of his own neighbourhood. He selected some of the best foods to give us a taste of German cuisine.
Tiago curated an incredible experience, very customized for our family of 5. Trying to have a. 7,10, and 13 year old learn and enjoy our one day in Berlin was feat and he did an incredible job. Kids learned the history of world world 2, Berlin Wall all whiles enjoying some amazing eats and drinks!!
We were treated to traditional Berlin gastronomy, which is not German. We stopped at Kreutzburg Market to gather leberkasse, and then walked around to get samples of pretzels, curry wurst, doner kebabs, mezzi platter, baklava, etc and the found a park for a great picnic. We continued exploring much of the food fares near Kreutzburg, walking and getting history of the area and how the foods reflect the ethnic diversity of Berlin. Great tour.
Wonderful day learning about and tasting the food, as well as learning the area on the tour .. Uygur was truly a pleasure and extremely informative about the local food and the areas the food was located . I highly recommend the tour and most definitely would recommend uygur as the guide !
Our guide, Felix, was entertaining, knowledgeable and he hit all the culinary (comfort food) hot spots for our indigenous food tour!
We had the best time with Sara, our tour guide! We were very jet lagged after just landing earlier that day in Berlin, but Sara was engaging and fun! So despite the foggy brain I remember so much of the tour. Sara was very knowledgeable and personable, it was one of the coolest food tours I’ve had in a while. She even provided us with numerous great suggestions for additional places to experience post tour. If you want an authentic German food sampling tour, I would recommend this. If you are vegetarian, you likely won’t get your moneys worth (fyi).
Sara was our tour guide and she was fabulous! She was very informative about Berlin's culture, food and history. We learned so much from her. We ate a delicious sandwich, cheese, schnitzel, kraut salad, red cabbage, duck, potato salad, fried potatoes, curry wurst, a delicious cake, streusel and tried wine and beer! One of the best food tours I've been on! Highly recommended! We also toured the neighborhood, market, and a little art market
The personal tour was exceptional! We loved having a guide to give us some history of the area and background to the foods we were eating. The restaurants and sites we visited were interesting and the food was unforgettable. We really enjoyed talking with our guide, Uygur. He was fun and knowledgeable, and took extra care to ask what we like, our allergies, and what we've experienced before so he could show us something new. I would highly recommend this tour.
If you’re looking for an exceptional food tour, Tiago is your guy. Tiago was amazing. Along with the food tour, he seamlessly integrated the history of Berlin, Germany, as we moved from one food location to another. He doesn’t just show you Berlin’s cuisine; he also introduces you to the most popular foods in Germany, even those that aren’t traditionally German. Tiago provides an authentic food experience along with popular favorites. Tiago introduced me to something I would’ve never tried. I am a VERY picky eater. This food item ended up being my number one item out of ten. When I mentioned I hadn’t had the chance to try bratwurst, Tiago went out of his way to add it to our tour, even though it wasn’t originally included. If you want a true taste of Germany’s melting pot, Tiago is your guy
Cancelled day of tour and didn’t provide another option for rebooking. Dissapointing for a group only here for a limited title
My husband and I and our friends had a great food tour with Tiago. He was funny and charming, and knew a lot about the area. He took us to several different restaurants in the area, where we sampled some delicious Berlin food. The tour was well worth the time!
OK so you ever have one of those walking food tours where you barely got any food and wish you would have eaten beforehand? This is NOT one of those tours. Juan our tour guide (Juan from Mallorca, Spain a very interesting guy) gives you SO MUCH food along the tour and it is all delicious. We had several traditional dishes available in the Kruezberg district including Currywurst, Kabobs, traditonal sausage and beef hamburgers, Potato pancakes and more. It was quite fascinating to see the difference in food tastes between West Kruezberg and East Kruzberg which has a lot to do with the type of residence that live in each area. My wife actually had to stop eating about 2/3 of the way through the tour but I powered through and loved all of it. If you are a foodie, this is definitely the tour for you.
Nice variety of food, including Turkish, Vietnamese, and German. My vegetarian wife loved it. Would do it again.
Spent an eternity choosing the tour, creating a user, logging on, booking, paying, the works. One available guide according to their website; fine with me. Once the payment had gone through and the confirmation was received, the guide cancelled. OK, perhaps not such a big deal, but why not inform your website that you won't be doing tours on that date? Now I'm waiting for the reimbursement of the money...
Tiago is an excellent host with a deep knowledge of the history and culture of Berlin. The tastings were amazing and he catered the experience to our family. I would highly recommend WithLocals and especially, Tiago, for your tour. A+++
Excellent tour . Juan was amazing We had great time w him Good food choices I recommend this activity
Claudia was knowledgeable, personable, and very engaging. She was fascinating to talk to and wonderfully articulate. We learned SO MUCH about Berlin and its history and culture. She gave us insights we never would have discovered otherwise. The food was plentiful and interesting.
We have done several other walking tours…this one was a bit mediocre. Most of the tastes were good but the guide seemed a little disinterested (he mentioned it was his third tour of the day). The first two stops were fairly close, but we then walked 20+ minutes for a lukewarm beer and a naan pizza…to then walk 25 minutes back to past where we started for the last couple of stops. Surely there had to be a Biergarten somewhere closer. And he mostly walked in front of us the whole time and didn’t really engage all that much. For the food, we’d rate it a four. For the guide, we’d say maybe a three. If we could give it a 3.5 rating, we would. It was not worth the $140 we spent per person…we had several exceptional meals in Berlin that were all half the price (or less).
Tiago was a great guide and not only introduced us to fun and interesting food but also covered cultural highlights within the communities we visited along the tour.
Sara was great! We got the lay of the land walking around to different food spots, and she introduced us to some yummy new delights! She also recommended some local restaurants for dinner
Highly recommend this tour! We did this private tour our first day in Berlin. Tiago was a phenomenal guide, very nice being private we could ask him everything regarding the city and recommendations for our week. We ate so much, be sure to go hungry!
Tiago is such a warm and friendly host and really treated us to some amazing food! He took us to his local market and started us off with Leberkase. Then from there we walked to see the pretty part of the neighborhood which did not get bombed in the war. Plenty of history and funny stories told along the way. We had German , Turkish, Portuguese , Korean and Austrian food and drinks. Thank you Tiago for showing us your Berlin!
Tiago does an amazing job and this is among the best food tours I have been on globally. Loved the mix of food, history, conversation and the neighborhoods where the tour takes place. 10 Stars if I could give them! Thank you for an amazing experience!!!
Our guide, Sara, not only provided us with a fabulous food tour but is a phenomenal historian with a delightful sense of humor. We learned so much about Berlin’s history both within the context of food and beyond. The four of us HIGHLY recommend her.
My husband and I had a wonderful time with Sara. She was really knowledge about the city and we learnt a lot about the history and current situation of it. We enjoyed sampling a wide variety of food. Sara could not have been more accommodating she ensured that we got a true flavour of Berlin whilst being mindful of our preferences. I would highly recommend this trip as an introduction to Berlin. A great way to spend an afternoon.
Tiago was an absolute gem! We had a wonderful time exploring his favorite neighborhood recommendations. Definitely come hungry!
A really fun tour with Anastasia who was the perfect guide . Don't eat before the tour as there is loads of food to sample . Highly recommended
We loved our tour with Claudia! She was lovely to talk to, and shared some really interesting stories and information about the city and vendors that she took us to. Food was great and we left very full. I would absolutely recommend Claudia for this tour!
What an incredible introduction to Berlin. Tiago was the best guide, introducing us to a huge variety of fantastic food and drink to sample. We cannot praise Tiago enough, we learnt SO much about the city and its history as well as recommendations for other places to visit during our stay. The tour is worth every penny - you will not be disappointed ! Thank you Tiago
Our guide lived in neighborhood he was a marvelous leader introducing us to amazing foods where he knew everyone
Violeta was an excellent guide on this tour. She was personable and provided us with an excellent history of the foods we sampled, the area we explored and Germany itself. She was also mindful of my dietary concerns. We thoroughly enjoyed the time that we spent with her.
Had a great experience with a broad base of knowledge and food culture! Enjoyed the format, neighborhood, and Tiago. Recommended!
Wonderful food tour with Tiago. He knows Berlin and he knows food. In between stops at local places, Tiago shared stories of historical happenings in Berlin. Great guy, great tour!
Sara was wonderful. Very friendly, very knowledgeable. She knew the area like a true local, and she pointed out details that made the tour so informative and interesting. Thank you for a perfect afternoon!
My husband and I did the 10 tastings of Berlin with Claudia. She was fun, shared interesting stories, and took us to some places with delicious food. First we had freshly baked brezels (pretzels) with cream cheese and chives. We meandered around Kreutzberg and stopped for a variety of international foods. We had a unique sausage sandwich, spring rolls, beer with raspberry syrup, curry wurst, a decadent cake topped whipped cream, and finally ice cream. The best part was meeting Claudia who shared her life experiences of living in Berlin. I highly recommend her tour.
Ok, maybe 3 words - SIGN UP NOW! We like to do a food tour whenever we visit a new city. This was our first time doing an international tour / Berlin. After researching "Berlin food tours" (probably way more than I needed to) I kept landing on Withlocals. And it did not disappoint. The tour was in Kreuzberg, which gave us the perfect opportunity to explore (and learn about) this amazing area of Berlin. While the tour (and eats) were amazing, our guide Sara was 10x amazing!! She has an incredible wealth of knowledge about the history of Berlin and is one of those people you want to invite to a Holiday Family Dinner 5 minutes after meeting her. She's the real deal. And as others have mentioned, she goes above and beyond with getting to know us - like and dislikes - and caters to that. But she does it in a way you don't realize she's doing it. She also sent us recommendations for things to do later that day - that were close to our hotel and what we had mentioned we were looking to do. Oh, and we were the only group on the tour. Which made it even that more personal. Do not look any further - book this!! And thanks Sara for a fabulous outing. Side note - this review asked for what type of visit it was. I was with my 2 adult daughters. (The only options I could choose from were family w teens or young children)
Food was amazing. Loved the locations our guide took us to. I would recommend taking a food tour if you are visiting the area.
This was an absolute amazing food tour, our guide Violeta was outstanding at not only guiding us through the different types of food that without her we would never had tried, but giving us amazingly insightful advice about places to travel and visit. I am so grateful that we were able to experience such amazing and culturally rich foods and the trip was made so much better with the kindness and help of Violeta.
Seth was knowledgeable about the history of the area and picked out great tour! I would highly recommend going with Seth!
The guide did not show. When we contacted the guide was in another country and hadn’t checked her schedule in months. Seems the don’t verify if guide available or have them acknowledge your. We were out cab fare to and from meeting place plus reorganizing our trip.
We took this tour in April and have to say it was the most disappointing food tour we have taken. Although it says 10 tastings, we were given 6 tastings, with one of them being a convenience store for a beer. Of the 6, three were for dessert items, with two being small cookies/baklava. The guide was knowledge about Berlin history, but seemed very disorganized regarding the destinations. At one point, we walked for 30 min between stops. Definitely would not recommend, especially for the price.
Oh, goodness, where do I start?! Sara met us with a smile and it didn’t stop. She was a wealth of information, and, we had such large tastings of everything we were quite full. She asks if you dislike anything and goes from there. It was a pleasant surprise to try the various foods which the locals enjoy, and, they are NOT all German food which is good, because true German food is much the same here in Berlin and not exciting, however, it is good & filling. We saw and tried food which we NEVER would have even known about if not for our lovely guide. We would highly recommend Sara, ask for her if possible. The photos do not show a chocolate tasting. We were a husband and wife with Sara and no one else!!
We enjoyed our food tour with Tiago through a part of Berlin very much. His selection in tastings were great, some very German and then others more international. He was very accommodating and easy to talk to. It felt like friends hanging out in his neighborhood. I very highly recommend it.
Our guide Sara was Exceptional. the food stops were delicious and wildly varied and her knowledge of history, different cultures within Berlin and neighborhood stories made this the best tour we took in Berlin. Just fantastic!!
Bring your appetite. There is a lot of food and some nice culinary history on this tour. We enjoyed a variety of cuisines and saw some nice aspects of the Kreuzberg neighborhood.
We had a great time with Sara! Loved the food and all of the stories behind the places she took us. Would definitely do this again!
