We had an excellent experience on our tour lead by Mark. We saw parts of East Berlin we never would have found on our own. Mark reached out to us weeks before our trip asking us what we were interested in seeing and personalized our tour based on our wishes. He was engaging, personable, extremely knowledgeable, and shared some funny and entertaining stories that we thoroughly enjoyed. I highly recommend booking a tour with him. Mark was a pleasure to be around.

Itinerary
Begin your journey through Berlin with a host who lives and breathes the city. This experience is tailored entirely to your interests—whether you're drawn to its storied past, thriving art scene, or local cuisine. Before the tour, your host will reach out with a short Personalization Form to shape the day around your preferences. Think beyond sightseeing—expect local stories, surprising discoveries, and a genuine connection with Berlin’s creative pulse.
Start at one of Berlin’s most iconic landmarks, a neoclassical symbol of unity and peace. Your host will share insights into the gate’s history—from its Prussian origins to Cold War division and its role in modern-day Germany. This is the perfect place to begin your Berlin story.
Walk through the hauntingly beautiful Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. As you explore the concrete slabs, your host will guide you through its symbolism and the stories it represents, creating space for thoughtful reflection and meaningful conversation.
Wander into one of Berlin’s most elegant and atmospheric squares, framed by the twin cathedrals—the German and French Domes—and the majestic Konzerthaus. Your host will share the square’s layered history, from Prussian ceremonial grandeur to its post-war restoration. It’s a perfect pause to appreciate Berlin’s architectural contrasts and snap beautiful photos away from the busier tourist zones.
End your tour in Berlin’s creative core—a maze of hidden courtyards and vibrant murals in Mitte. Discover the city’s contemporary side as your host reveals stories of resistance, reinvention, and art. It's a chance to explore Berlin’s raw edge and the culture that thrives in its backstreets.

This was a really bad experience. Guide was not a local, did not speak proper English nor German and had no clue about the history of the city. We needed to leave the private tour because we felt also very uncomfortable in his presence. Not professional. Do not book.
Doing a tour of Berlin with Darren was a fantastic experience! He was extremely punctual, friendly, and brought a super fun energy to the tour. In addition to mastering the city's history, he shared amazing facts and curiosities that made everything very dynamic and engaging. It's clear how much he loves what he does. Highly recommend to everyone visiting the city!
Can't recommend. We had a very pleasant three hour walk through Berlin but not the experience we requested. In advance of the tour, I used the City Unscripted message board to ask for a focus on history, architecture and art on the route between Brandenburg Gate and Alexanderplatz - essentially the standard group tourist route but with a more personalised experience - as I'd been to Berlin several times over the years but my partner hadn't. Our guide was a lovely person and a good walking companion but we learned very little about the history and sites of the city. Other specialised tour experiences we had made up for that in part, but I feel like we really missed out and would've learned more in a larger group - at a fraction of the cost. If you do consider booking this, I can only recommend you make sure the person proposed as your guide has the qualifications to make your experience the one you expect, whether it be in history or art or anything else.
Juan was very accommodating—meeting us at our hotel and then organizing a thorough overview of Berlin highlights. He shared several Hidden Gems and recommended future sights and restaurants to try. He adjusted tour for our pace.
Our tour guide Nick did an awesome job. We asked him to try to focus on and show us places that would NOT be on a tour we would take the next day about the 3rd Reich. He really lived up to the request and we saw many cool things and learned so much from him. Definitely a 5 out 5 stars!
Bridget was very knowledgeable and flexible. We under estimated Berlin’s size and amount of sightseeing. Regardless, Bridget remained energetic and thorough throughout a sizable tour! Thank you Bridget for sharing the city with us!
Loulia completely customized the tour to my interests, finding ways to blend history, nature and cool off the beaten path parts of Berlin. She is a very interesting person and easy to talk to which made it fun for me as a solo traveler. I highly recommend this experience - it exceeded my expectations!
We had an awesome adventure with Natalia, our private tour guide. Not only did she take the time to understand our interests and preferences, but she also put together a masterful itinerary tailored just for us. From sharing the history of the Brandenburg Gate to guiding us through the beautiful scenery and vibrant atmosphere of the Hackeschen Courtyards, every moment was memorable. She even introduced us to currywurst! It was a fantastic experience, and we would highly recommend Natalia to anyone visiting the city!
Mark was an excellent raconteur of history of Berlin during WWII. I liked how he brought us into the story and led us through the sites and events of wartime. Mark is extremely knowledgeable.
Wonderful visit of Berlin with our guide Nataly! She was knowledgeable and organised a fantastic tour!
Our guide Natalia helped us see three different faces of Berlin (as she has been still discovering for herself and clearly falling in love with it) - beginning with the formal (governmental) district moving on to the history certainly immersing into the tragic events of the WWII, evidence (or better say - memory) of which one may easily find in abundance in the streets of Berlin (and on its buildings), and finally visiting Shpandau - an art district where the free spirit of Berlin wanders at large and makes itself seen through the impressive display of graffities (really nice ones), wall paintings, art shops with handcrafted art objects. I guess for some people a better focused tour could work better but for our (and our 13 years old daughter's) 1st visit / acquaintance with the city it was a perfect format. Even though it might be a standard route but it did not feel like following a crowd but instead looked more like a walk with an old friend who has happened to move to Berlin and is happy to show you around. Maybe the fact that Natalia is a native Russian also contributed to the atmosphere as we could easily communicate using common language. All in all it was a positive experience for us and I would gladly recommend this tour for a 1st time visitors to Berlin.
Nataly was absolutely wonderful! She brought a binder with pictures which really helped us learn what areas looked like before compared to now. We asked for her to tailor it for us—highlights in 3 hours. It included a lovely mixture of history, culture, architecture and we dropped us at a wonderful pub to experience true delicacies!
We had a private tour through Berlin. Neither of us had been to Berlin before and were anxious to learn about the city from a local. We were also interested specifically in the design, art and architecture. Our tour guide was a young gal who was a musician and introduced us to a part of Berlin that was very interesting us . Also loved the perspective of a 26 year old!
Nick was amazing. I love the survey that helps the guide customize your experience. Nick was easy to understand, made the history relevant to today. We were able to feel good about asking questions and share our personal views and experiences.
Immensely thoughtful & thorough. Loved all the in-depth details of Germany’s highly complex history. Andreas was incredibly engaging with his commentary while detailing a somewhat difficult history. He is incredibly knowledgeable & answered all our many questions. I would highly recommend this tour and especially Andreas. We appreciate all the additional information he shared for our remaining time in Berlin.
excellent tour, very informative. Natasha was chuck full of details and historical facts and had an excellent knowledge of the city's neighborhoods.
Luca was knowledgeable, adaptable and extremely helpful. He was easy to talk to and his English is impeccable. Great suggestions for food and awesome combination of the expected tourist spots and quirky Berlin spots.
We had great tour with Natalya. She was knowledgeable about history, efficient and flexible to our needs, and very friendly. Would recommend her very much.
Darren organized a walking tour of Berlin for us. We've organized similar tours in several European cities and this, by far, was the best. Despite the cold, Darren was able to give us so much information about Berlin, from origins, to city history and the politics and rise and fall of Berlin in WWII. He was extraordinarily informative and was able to weave history to present day and back politically and socially.. He took us to some haunting and historical milestone sites that weren't marked and was really able to portray what it might have been like living in Berlin at different points in history. We would highly recommend using Darren!
Nick made us feel very comfortable. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and very patient with us . He told us about the history of the place and foods to try and about the diversity in the city.
Andreas was so knowledgeable and shared a lot of his personal experiences growing up in Berlin. He customized the tour to fit what our family wanted to learn about and see. Andreas was also so accommodating with our special needs son. We loved the tour and would do it again if we knew he would be our tour guide.
We had an amazing experience exploring the city of Berlin with Loulia. I had shared my itinerary beforehand with her and she made sure all places are covered . She was very helpful in giving us advise about things to do in Berlin guided us well ! We really liked her she was fabulous !!!
Amazing tour of Berlin with Berni. She was well prepared, knowledgeable regarding important sites and helped us navigate the rail system.
Natalia was very knowledgeable on Berlin in WWII and the Cold War. Her stories and information were very informative and enjoyable. We had a wonderful time on our 3 hour walking tour with her. I would highly recommend a tour with her when you visit Berlin.
Luca was an amazing tour guide and his wealth of historical knowledge was fantastic . He command of english was perfect
Natalia was a great guide! We really appreciate the effort she took to personalize our experience. She was amazing! I would recommend her to anyone :)
Juan truly showed us the nuances of Berlin from so many points of view. He explained the city’s history, art, architecture, culture and cuisine. It was memorable. He moved at a pace that was in synch with our interests. Juan allowed us to set the style and pace of the tour and made it truly personal. Juan had the ability to sense when something drew our attention, and was able to adjust his time and pacing. He also sensed when something didn’t interest us so much and moved on. We got to experience the city through his eyes, the eyes of a Berliner. There was nothing gimmicky or insincere about his style. We highly recommend him and the 8-hour version of this tour.
We had such an incredible experience with Loulia and City Unscripted on a 3 hour Tour of Berlin! We won a competition for a weekend break in Berlin and part of that was this 3 hour movie tour, I filled out the questionnaire and explained that we were really interested in the Techno scene in Berlin. Loulia wasn’t really in to Techno, however she had gone to the effort of doing research in to it and planning the itinerary of our tour to incorporate all of the biggest Techno clubs, along with all the other historical sites throughout the city. This was one of the highlights of our trip and I can’t recommend her and City Unscripted more highly. Thanks so much.
Darren did a great job .. he was very flexible with our schedule and also to our preferences in regards on what we want to accomplish with the tour … he’s very pleasant and knowledgeable ; we were very pleased with him !
Our tour guide, Ceri, was wonderful. Very personable and knowledgeable. She really listened to what we wanted to see and tailored the experience to our needs.
Our host Alex was really friendly and great to talk to. He showed us two lovely places one for Schnitzels and the other for coffee and cake. We would not have found these places on our own we had a wonderful time.
This was not the first tour I took in Berlin with Stephan and each time it was fun and interesting. I'm looking forward to be back again. 100% recommended.
Ilaria was a great guide showing me some of the highlights of Berlin but also some of the lesser known nooks and crannies. She truly loves Berlin and it showed.
Our guide, Mark Meadows, was amazing. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly, he made our tour of Berlin a fun and learning-filled experience.
We asked Andreas for a tour for our family that would bring the history of Berlin to life while taking us off the beaten track and giving us some street art to view. By agreement, he didn't tell us where we were going and took us on a magical mystery tour which included visiting the fascinating Teufelsberg Hill. With three kids in our group, Andreas hit the nail on the head by taking us somewhere different and away from the crowds. He was a very knowledgeable and personable guide, we all enjoyed talking and learning from him - and would absolutely recommend him and City Unscripted.
Excellent tour of the city of Berlin. The main reason was the local tour guide. He was very knowledgeable. He took me to really unscripted parts of berlin which may have been missed with regular toriristy places . He was a very pleasant personality . One of the best trips I ever had of any european city. I would highly recomemed the tour Guide Cesar and the City Unscripted Tour Company.
Cesar was amazing. He had a great attitude and was so nice to be around for the day. He had a wealth of information about the city and after 8 hours we felt like we had learned about the entire city! Would highly recommend him to anyone coming to the city.
Jan-Benedict is incredibly well-informed. He was forthcoming and open with some of our sensitive questions. Additionally, he was born and raised here in Berlin. It was a lovely experience to learn about the city through the eyes of an authentic local.
Cesar was an entertaining and informative tour guide who showed us a couple of the Christmas markets of Berlin and some other locations with Christmas lights. He spoke enthusiastically about the history of Berlin and personalised the tour to suit our needs as it was a private tour with just us as a couple. Mulled wine and entrance to the markets was included in the cost and we enjoyed the tour immensely despite the cold weather !
Alessandra was amazing from start to finish. She kept the tour on track without feeling like it was rushed. She adapted the tour based on what we said we were interested in. Overall an amazing experience and can’t wait to tour with her again 😁
Alessandra was the highlight of our Germany trip. We walked around and enjoyed her company like she was an old friend. AND the tour was amazing!!!!! 10/10 recommend!
Alessandra was an absolutely amazing guide - so grateful for her vast knowledge of the city and it’s history. She listened to our itinerary requests and mapped out a plan for the day that was even better than we could have imagined!
Our tour guide Alessandra was amazing! She was welcoming and friendly to talk with and had an exceptional depth of knowledge of the city and all the food she showed us. Would absolutely do it again.
We took the tour : Berlin: Times of Love and War Alessandra Tomaselli was our guide. My wife and I did not know what to expect but had high expectations to learn about Berlin and the Cold War. We met Alessandra at a very convenient location; very prompt (kind of a big thing for me). Alessandra guided us to key Cold War historical spots and told a concise story in a timeline manner; unbelievably education for us. Alessandra also took us to several Berlin foodie locations to give us a perspective of life in Berlin today. Very delicious!!! We had a great four hours; It was having you friend guide you through their city! Awesome!! George and Kate
We loved our tour with Alessandra , she was so knowledgeable and passionate about Berlin past and present . We learnt so much , my 22 year old son and girlfriend , , went on to visit places Alessandra had recommended , and had the best time , and are now planning to move there !!!
Seth was very open to make the trip interesting for me. He kept a light open conversation going. Very interactive discussions led to building the trip as we went. It made the trip special for me. Every place we went to was enjoyable. Thanks Seth!
What can I say? Alessandra now feels like a true friend. She catered to me so much in what I wanted to see and was so knowledgeable and personable. She clearly has a passion for history like me, and I definitely recommend her 100%!
Interesting conversation with the knowledgeable tour guide. Also, little charming places difficult to find at least deep knowledge of Berlin city.
Tour guide didn’t show up but charged my credit card. Be careful with this company. I sent an email 10 minutes after our appointment time, no one responded and I called the company’s Uk and US phone number, no one answered either. I am disputing my charge now.
