Antonio was an amazing tour guide. He was warm and welcoming and very knowledgeable about city life, art scene and had a social perspective of the people living in those neighborhoods. He took us to various neighborhoods in Berlin and gave us the history of those neighborhoods. Wonderful experience. I would highly recommend Antonio!.

Reese was an excellent guide and gave so much wonderful information. He is a local musician who can give personal testimony to some of the off-the beaten places. I highly recommend this tour
Post-war Berlin has always been a center of counterculture, protest and experimentation on both sides of the wall and this tour is a great introduction to that. Street art is a big component and we learned to recognise and enjoy the work of key practitioners. Learning about the social upheavals in the post-wall years and the struggles for alternative lifestyles and communal housing provided real insight into the Berlin we know today. Our guide, Twan, was very knowledgeable (as well as funny), and you knew which side of the barricades he would have been on in those days. It was a pleasure to be on his tour, which was one of the highlights of our Berlin visit.
Reece was amazingly knowledgeable about Berlin, its history and its vibe. As first time visitors to Berlin this tour was super helpful for us to get a take on this unique city. I highly recommend the alternative Berlin Tour, we loved Reece, and his life- view.
An absolutely fantastic tour. Rhys really knew his stuff, and it was amazing to see the “unseen” parts of the city… places that tie together so much of Berlin’s historically cultural and political history in a very cool and beautiful way. A+ tour. Kick ass guide. Highly recommended!
The guide was super easy to find at the meeting point. He was friendly and personable from the start. The tour was excellent and informative, gave you a real insight into the Berlin story from a locals point of view, lots of history before and after the wall came down. Would thoroughly recommend, seriously enjoyed it. One not so great thing was that the tour was advertised to finish at Stralauer Allee 34, but actually finished near our start point. It just meant the thing we were going onto had to be moved to another day, so not really an issue.
Reece was a great guide and very knowledgeable about the alternative side of Berlin. I would highly recommend this tour.
What a fantastic experience! Rhys was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining! The tour was exactly what we had hoped for to experience another side of Berlin!
Really liked guide. He was really enthusiastic about everywhere he took us. I missed the part after lunch because I lost track of time. Be sure to pay attention !
Berlin is very eclectic and not easy to grasp so this tour provided us with so much information and understanding about how people lived and live, a mix of history and fun facts, meaning of graffiti, things you don’t read on tourist websites, recommendations for clubs & other entertainment spots. Our tour guide Rhys is an amazing storyteller and a character himself, he is awesome!
Excellent experience. Antonio was a wonderful guide - knowledgeable, friendly and caring. I saw new parts of Berlin and it was organised at an enjoyable pace. Thoroughly recommended.
Must do trip A walk through arts and history
We went to some cool neighborhoods we would not have found outside the tour. The street art was fabulous, cool parks/gardens and our lunch stop was in a foodie mecca. Our guide was long winded but provided us with lots of information. He also navigated us through public transit closures with ease.
A very interesting and really good walking tour that took us to places we would not otherwise have found. Our guide was well-informed and we enjoyed learning about how the culture of Berlin developed over time.
Antonia gave a very humble description of all facets of Berlin with focus on the complexities since WW2 and the ongoing struggles of artisans and the fringe communities . It shifted the ficus away from the war and onto the human side of the communities living in Berlin
Highly recommend to those who want to learn more about the underground/punk history of the city!
Loved this tour. Rhys was a great tour guide. A wealth of knowledge and very entertaining. He was very easy to listen to. He took us to places we wouldn’t know about otherwise. We would highly recommend this tour and ask for Rhys.
Great guide, you could really tell he had a passion for street art & music. Took us to some cool places and explained all the history & culture
An interesting tourist guide around a bit of post war / post wall avante garde parts of Berlin. Things we would not have noticed. Although not a local Ben did give us many local insights. He was entertaining and kept the walking group of 20 together, through markets walking trains and trams. Good value and worth doing.
Great tour that blended Berlin art, music, history and contemporary politics. Our guide Rys was excellent. A true renaissance man Rys is a rock and jazz musician, a DJ, and a tour guide. He brought a great sense of humor and a unique perspective to our group. He also gave some awesome recommendations for local clubs, bars and music venues. I strongly recommend this tour. What a like most is you get a good breakdown of some of the city's more eclectic neighborhoods. You will also learn about the various contributions of Berlin’s artists musicians and ethnic groups that contribute to the city's vibrant culture.
Led by a super knowledgeable guide this was a hugely interesting walk. We visited and learned the interesting history of so much in Mitte, Prenzlauerberg and Kreuzberg - none of which you would come close to as a lone tourist or on a more conventional guided tour. Once you’ve done the usual sights I heartily recommend this tour and Rhys, the leader. If you’re doubtful about the walking, it’s not too onerous. Berlin is very flat and there’s a lot of listening besides the walking (and some rides) between locations.
Ben our guide was very knowledgeable. He made the whole tour very interesting. Learnt so much about the culture in Berlin
Rhys is a fantastic guide. He was perceptive and informative- exactly what you want in a guide. He put everyone at ease. We learned and laughed a lot. I felt I could ask him any question about the city and would get a thoughtful response. Highly recommend!
Reece was an outstanding guide—passionate, insightful & approachable. The tour beautifully wove together history, culture, music and art. Entertaining and generous throughout, Reece ensured the experience was both informative and fun. Highly Recommended!
Great tour! Lee was an excellent guide: insightful, entertaining, generous and approachable. I enjoyed getting to areas of the city I would not have reached otherwise. The tour weaved history, culture and art and Lee gave us important contextual information about post-war youth culture that made the sites we visited come alive. Highly recommend!
A unique tour that showed a whole side of Berlin that tourists don't get to see. Tour guide Lee was very engaging and clearly enjoys his job. Great info on street art and alternative arts and culture. Lee was proud of his local neighbourhood in Kreusberg and showed us some really cool little corners ending up in a very bohemian district. Trip has tram and train travel which requires extra tickets but this gives the tour a wider scope and embraces both former East and West Berlin which are interesting to compare. Highly recommended
The tour explores street art in and around Alexanderplatz and Kreuzberg. You hop on and off trams and u-bahn so remember your travel pass!
Great tour! Our guide, Reese, was passionate about the places we visited. A very enjoyable afternoon. I have been to Berlin many times and still learned a lot.
It was great exploring neighborhoods in Berlin outside of the standard tourist areas and getting historical perspectives of each area.
Very enjoyable trip with Jonathan our guide. Saw different parts of the city, and although it was four hours, wasn’t too exhausting because we had a couple of stops. Showed us things we never would have seen otherwise
We had a great time exploring some really interesting spots that we would have never found on our own. Learned a ton about life in Berlin. Fantastic tour guide that I can't for the life of me remember his name.
Damien is a legend! Engaging in the most sweetly self-effacing way.,He completely stepped into the role of guide & story teller & we emerged more enlightened & thoroughly entertained. Berlin is a city of hidden gems. A guided tour is a must.
Johnathan was our guide for the walk and he gave us a really well Informed and interesting walk around sites of Berlin. The history of all the wall art was particularly good as well as the history of living in Berlin since the war. Would highly recommend this trip
Fantastic tour. Very warm and getting guide (Damien) who was very informative. Every stop was clearly thought out with history explained into its modern setting. Group was casual and friendly, which really spearheaded the energy of the tour
After quite a few WWII and Cold War Berlin tours, having a taste of what modern day Berlin has evolved and continues to evolve was fun to go through! Our guide, Reese, was knowledgeable and truly came across as someone who is immersed in the alternative culture that defines Berlin, and not just someone who was reading out from facts. Probably the highlight was the playground where kids 6-16 build most of it without adult supervision, and burn down a third of it every year to renew and make space for new building! I think that really sums up the spirit of what could only, perhaps, happen in Berlin. I was worried about the amount of walking with the length of the tour, but it includes 2-3 legs that are covered on public transport and has about 20-30 minutes set aside for lunch as well. Just a note to others who take the tour: the end of the tour wasn’t at the published end provided in the ticket, but a bit further into Kreuzberg. This wasn’t a problem for us, but I can imagine this may be an issue if you were planning on ending at a specific place for following appointments. I genuinely found this be one of the best tours I’ve done in Berlin.
What a fantastic tour. We had some freaky weather but our brilliant host Reece kept on coming. Great information about the city, its people, and its politics. Really set the scene for the whole weekend and put Berlin perfectly into context. Everything made much more sense for the rest of our stay. We loved our tour and it was great value for money. Recommended without reservation.
Having already done the discover Berlin half day tour, the off the beaten track tour was a great addition. The tour introduced us to arts and culture neighborhoods and sub cultures we would not otherwise have known. Our guide Rhys was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic.
For good walkers and good listeners. This tour took us into neighborhoods into which we would never have ventured. It is a lot of walking. Schedule it toward the end of your Berlin visit. Our guide was a native English’ speaker. That was valuable for us. No kids.
Jake was a very entertaining and knowledgeable guide! I was thrilled to discover Berlin through the lesser known stories of lived experiences of the locals. Jake also made superb recommendations for nearby events, restaurants, etc.
Really interesting tour. We have been to Berlin before and have seen all the typical sights, so this tour was perfect to see the lesser known places, learn some history you may not necessarily learn from your regular guide books. Our guide Rhys was entertaining, knowledgeable and led the tour at the right pace, it never felt rushed nor did we stay in any place for too long (on some tours lots of time is wasted on lunch or coffee breaks which is unnecessary, we had a 30 minute lunch stop, perfect for curry wurst and a quick sit down). Loved all the street art and background stories. Would definitely recommend this tour for something different than the standard tourist sights.
Reese was funny and very entertaining, saw some great parts of the city. Would highly this tour recommend! Many thanks stuart
An engaging way to spend an afternoon, getting to know the city. The tour took in a lunch break too which was appreciated!
Reese, our guide was super interesting and very knowledgeable. We had a wonderful 4 hours and learnt so much, seeing places you don't usually come across as a tourist. Highly recommended!!!
Make sure you book a day that is warm. It was freezing and the very long outdoor tour was very uncomfortable.
I highly recommend this walking tour. A lot of interesting facts, stories and places you might miss otherwise. It's not your typical tour of a city and our guide Rhys was competent and amusing. Thumbs up.
I enjoyed the tour with Jack, he's a cool and knowledge-full guy who will give you a great experience of the less touristy and more "real" Berlin. As a German, I already new quite some things so the amount of new information was limited for me, yet if you're a traveller from abroad and want to get a glimpse about the alternative culture in Berlin, I highly recommend the tour
Amazing tour, Antonio was an incredible guide. Perfect tour for those who want to really get to know Berlin.
This was a very good tour. Outstanding stories about this area and its significance prior to and after reunification. Recommend
Alleys, Graffiti and explanation of all the history of this area pre and post war. Fantastic guide!!
We have seen parts of Berlin we have never seen before. The British tour guide Reece was funny and amusing, while he was very knowledgeable about the city. Excellent tour.
