Berlin Beers & Battlefields Tour: War History And German Beer

We loved this tour! Our guide Alex was friendly and really knowledgeable! He gave us a great insight into the history of Berlin and how life is in Berlin today, sharing so many interesting tidbits that we would otherwise not have learnt about. He engaged with all of the group positively and was ready to answer each and every one of our questions. This made the tour feel personal. Would highly recommend!

Alex took us on a unique tour of Berlin, tailored to our interests. He was friendly, engaging and very knowledgeable. His conversation was very informative and revealed aspects of the city’s history and struggles to rebuild after WWII. He has empathy and sympathy for both the survivors and the victims of the war and the DDR. We highly recommend him as a guide. The beer gardens he took us to were great too.

Had a near perfect tour with Cairan. The only small glitch was a little rain, which was force majeure and we could hide from in a beer hall. The tour itself was a brilliant mix of history lessons on the battle for Berlin, the Cold War and beer. A very nice surprise was the amount of German beer history. Cairan was incredibly knowledgeable about all the subjects and and an allround very nice guy to chat with.

First of all, a big thank you to Ciaran and this whole company. After missing a connection on my way to Berlin, I had to miss my originally scheduled tour on Monday....they could have cancelled but instead went out of their way to reschedule me on the tour for Thursday instead. They didn't have to do that and it was very much appreciated. :). The tour itself was great. One of the most informative tours I have ever taken and the local beers were delicious too. If you have an interest in Berlin's history through World War II, the Cold War and Berlin Wall... this is definitely the tour to be taking.

We had a great time! A lot of very interesting sites, history, stories and information about the battle of Berlin to go along with just as much information about Berlin and beer. The whole tour took a bit over 3 hours but it felt shorter with many interesting conversations surrounding Berlin, beer, battlefields and other subjects. Cairan was our guide, he was great! We would absolutely recommend this for anyone interested in beer and battlefield stories! It was well worth it!

Cairan very knowledgeable great explanation and tour added benefit Paul. My only negative comment is the tour tells you it ends at the start destination which it doesn't so that just needs updating Highly recommend booking this early in your trip for good places to also eat and drink RIP George

Fascinating few hours with Ciaran who was incredibly knowledgeable of the city's history, really bringing the Battle of Berlin to life in the stories told... whilst also highlighting hidden features in the buildings and landmarks that you could easily miss. He's also a great host who knows his beer and made the tour both fun and fascinating in equal measure. Highly recommended.

Despite it being a cold afternoon, Ciaran held our attention for the whole of the tour due to his knowledge, professionalism and affability. How he remembered the dates and events of WW2 was very impressive and we would not hesitate to recommend!. He was that good we were thinking of booking again the next day!. Go ahead and book the Tour we can guarantee you will not be disappointed!.

Combining two things that I love, history and beer, makes this an easy recommendation. Given the tour guide’s encyclopedic knowledge of both makes this a must book. The only thing that could have made this experience better was an additional 3, maybe 4 hours to enjoy more German beer while learning about the fascinating history of Berlin

A fantastic tour. Ciaran was a wonderful guide: incredibly enthusiastic and amazingly knowledgeable about Berlin's unique stories--from beer to the Battle of Berlin. This was one of the best tours I've done in my travels, and Ciaran made it a total blast. If you want to walk literally in the footsteps of the end of the Third Reich, feel history come alive, and drink some great beers, this is your tour.

Ciarian was absolutely amazing, his knowledge in history, beer and many other topics just flows so easily. I learnt so much on this tour, and have also found a new like toward dark (Dunkel) beer now. Highly recommend doing this tour.

This was the first thing we did when we arrived in Berlin and it was perfect. Our guide, Ken, has a deep knowledge of the Battle of Berlin, and brought us up close and personal to the damage it inflicted. He also had a tablet with a ton of historic pictures and maps to give us a better sense of the history at each stop. Couple that with delicious beers (and the rest of the group was a ton of fun) and it couldn't have been better.

Great tour, great beers, great history! Had so much fun learning and drinking and just having a good time with our group. Word of advice though, you are drinking beer and not just little sample glasses. Use the restroom every single chance you get!

Cairan was a great tour guide. He knew all about history, we asked a lot of questions that didn't pertain to his tour and he answered without missing a beat. This tour had great cold war and battle of berlin facts and sights. The beer portion was great as well. The best tour I have had in Germany hands down.

Great tour of beers and the WWII Battle of Berlin! Started with Berliner Weisse beer, then a Kölsch, and then a Bavarian lager. Cairan explained everything and I learned slot!

I was really looking forward to this experience because the topic itself is fascinating. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to expectations. The session felt longer than necessary, and the atmosphere was quite boring, which made it hard to stay engaged. The guide clearly knows the material, but the delivery lacked the energy and warmth that could have made it memorable. It’s a good concept, but in its current form, I wouldn’t recommend it. I don’t like to give bad reviews but unfortunately I don’t recooksnd taking this tour

Cairan was really knowledgeable and gave is a great tour of some hot spots relating to the final assault on Berlin by the Red Army. Would recommend!

This was an amazing tour; Cairan was the most personable and knowledgeable historian and guide that we have ever met. 100% recommend this experience, so much fascinating information and locations were covered. It included beers at 3 historic bars with a great choice at each. We stayed for dinner after the tour at the final biergarten and returned to another the next evening - both were excellent and we wouldn't have discovered them without the tour. Thank you so much, this tour enriched our city break beyond compare and was excellent value for money.

Kieran was a terrific guide, friendly, knowledgeable, amusing and an opera singer. He told great stories and clearly knew his stuff. It was especially nice in that it was a small group. Much better tour than the one I took the next day with another tour outfit.

we were very lucky to be the only two people on the tour with Aaron. I was truly impressed with Aarons enormous knowledge and genuine passion for the topic. Aaron allowed us to ask lots of questions and was patient with us. He had a good sense of humour and overall we were very happy with the experience.

Fantastic tour led by Paul. Well planned to start tge Nazi story before 1933at the Rathaus fire to end with the final demise at Hitlers bunker in the nondrscript car park. Kept us enthralled from end to end and the 3.5hrs went by swiftly. Thoroughly well plamned and well informed. Highly recommend.

I booked a private tour for myself and my teenage daughter. Paul was our guide. He is excellent. Very informative and knows not only the history of Berlin and Germany but also Europe. Every location was explained in depth with context to Berlin’s complex history. Highly recommend Paul as your guide.

The Third Reich tour with Birchys exceeded all our expectations. Absolutely fantastic. Our guide Aaron was excellent - extremely knowledgable and informative and driven by his own clear passion for the subject matter. Having studied a fair bit about WWII and the final days of the war in Berlin, I thought I knew a fair bit about what we would see. But Aaron gave us insights that I had no idea about and showed us sights that I had not expected to see. All backed up during the tour by visual aids of pre-war Berlin, during the battle for Berlin and in the aftermath. A truly great experience. Highly recommended. Cheers Aaron!
