Not to recommend. I stayed two nights in the hotel. My room had a door to another room. I could hear everything from the other side. First night there was a guy who stayed on the phone using speaker until 3:30 AM. I complained at the front desk. They said they will block the room besides me. Don’t happened. One the second night there was guy that was shouting at friends on the phone. Here no more chance. Not a place that you can relax.

Not good for families. They only give 2 connected studios — this is NOT an “apartment” as they called it in the booking. Rooms are separated by a heavy fire door that requires a key card and injured my young child multiple times because of its weight. The building is unstaffed much of the time and they do not respond on WhatsApp — it’s just an AI bot. So it’s impossible to get help with anything. The area has no shops or restaurant. There is one fast food place. Anything else is 10+ minutes away.
I stayed there for 3 nights and i’ll just say that it was an okay experience. The self check-in and check-out was very convenient and easy. The kitchen was also well equipped. The best thing was the train station near the hotel. However, the room and Toilet were unsatisfactory. The central ventilator in the room was useless. Thankfully they did provide a portable ventilator so that was a relief because it was very hot in Berlin. The pillows were paper thin and dirty. The toilet had only hand-wash, hairdryer, and toilet paper as amenities. No shampoo, shower-gel, or conditioner. So take your own toiletries. We wanted to know if the parking was free or not but the customer-service itself was clueless about it. FYI, it is free.
Perfectly adequate for a couple of nights on a city trip. Everything fine really but my biggest and only real complaint is that the building is unusually hot given that outside isn’t. The room must have been in the high 20 degrees and very difficult to cool down, even with the windows open all day. There is modern air conditioning built in but, even when finding and reading the instruction manual online, it was impossible to get working.
The place is in a nicely communicated district, close to the city center. The staff was also helpful. However... In my three weeks stay I had following issues: 1. The kitchen equipment is dirty. You do have access to the dishwasher so clean all the cups and plates, and cutlery. When I grabbed a bowl from cupboard you could still feel it's covered in something. 2. The room was in quite disarray. Shower doors didn't fully close, washbasin in the bathroom was moving up and down at the slightest touch, the hooks on the corridor fell off (out of three only one was functional), shower water pressure is non existent and the water temperature is cycling between scorching hot and freezing cold. 3. I think the worst part of this trip was a nasty discovery of the bed bugs in my room. I was itchy for a few days and on my last day I discovered why - my bed had tiny insects. I honestly thought it was allergies or something else before my discovery. My work has moved me to another hotel since and I think they will also file some complaint about this. I didn't experience any issues with laundry room or with the repairs and renovations that are happening right now, but I was mostly out in the office. In general, I was not pleased at the stay in Smartments.
