They probably will lose their Marriott flag in the next year. Filthiest and most bizarre Marriott property that I have ever stayed at (and I’ve stayed at more than 30 of them with Titanium for life members). It’s a 3 star hotel at best in its current state. I’ve found mold in the bathtub, broken shower (had to switch rooms), outdated furniture (ancient TVs), stains on the carpet and very strange bedding (2 pillows for a king bed and one towel in the bathroom). The water pressure in the shower is ridiculously strong with no way of changing it. The reception seems pretty understaffed at times and the staff are not very attentive. The hotel shows serious signs of age and doesn’t appear to have any improvements being made (minor fixes only). Furthermore, during my stay, they hosted a very loud event with DJs in front of the hotel on a Tuesday. It went on until 1 a.m with no prior warning to guests. Unprofessional. Location is good and accessible. Breakfast buffet is good. Next time will stay at nearby Marriott properties instead.

Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade was a very pleasant stay overall. Nicely positioned near Tiergarten, it has that fresh, green Berlin feeling while still being very convenient for the city. The hotel definitely gives some classic corporate Sheraton energy, but in a good way: well maintained, professionally operated, comfortable, and everything works as it should. I received a beautiful upgrade, enjoyed the terrace views, and the staff throughout the stay were genuinely warm and hospitable. Check-in was particularly good. My room wasn’t ready yet, but instead of leaving me to wander around Berlin looking tired and homeless, they gave me access to the lounge so I could refresh, relax and settle in properly. Small gesture, big difference. Housekeeping was also extremely friendly and attentive. The only slight plot twist came upon departure, when I got stuck in the elevator. Not exactly the final Marriott Bonvoy experience I had envisioned, and definitely not something I needed to unlock as a new life achievement. Thankfully, I eventually escaped captivity. Apart from my brief vertical hostage situation, the stay was excellent. The hotel feels well cared for, the team is welcoming, and the overall operation feels solid. Thank you, Marriott. I’d happily return. Preferably using an elevator that has no emotional attachment to me.
This hotel is completely unworthy of the Sheraton name. My experience was an absolute nightmare from beginning to end. The room was extremely dirty, and despite asking the reception multiple times to have it cleaned, I repeatedly came back to find that it had still not been cleaned. At one point, I asked the receptionist how I was supposed to sleep in a dirty bed. His response was essentially, “It’s not my problem” and “I cannot do anything for you.” I was shocked by the lack of professionalism and basic customer service. The air conditioning was not working, the coffee machine in my room was broken, and when I reported these issues, I was simply told that nothing could be done. The reception staff were also extremely rude and, at times, were shouting. There were long periods when nobody answered the reception at all. The hotel is enormous, yet there seemed to be only a handful of staff working, which clearly affected the cleanliness, service, and overall safety of the property. I have photos and videos documenting the condition of the room and the issues I experienced. I will be sharing them so people can see for themselves what the reality of this hotel was during my stay. Honestly, I have stayed in one-star hotels that were cleaner, better maintained, and provided much better customer service. I genuinely don’t understand how a hotel operating under the Sheraton name can provide this level of service and hygiene. This was not just a disappointing stay—it was a nightmare. My advice: think very carefully before booking this hotel.
Stayed 2 nights in May with a group. The AC was clearly not working and rooms were really warm. Day 1: call reception no answers. Go to desk “it just takes a while to start”. 30 min later. Call reception no answers go to front desk “the system is just weak” “it is working just wait” “we can send a fan to your room”. Never got a fan. Same story in day 2. The AC in at least 8 rooms were clearly not working. The response was lie to the guests and they didn’t offer other rooms. Hotel response was poor. But the breakfast was delightful (especially fresh pretzel rolls) and a cool outside bar patio. Edit: the shampoo soap and hand soap were empty. I left the tops off the soap bottles and left in the sink. Not refilled and still empty. We stayed at 8 different hotels and this was the most lacking.
On my EU tour, I stayed here with my family and had a truly delightful experience. The hotel’s grandeur, elegant décor, and exceptional cleanliness immediately stood out. The staff support was outstanding — especially the front desk team, who went out of their way to assist us when we arrived here. Our room was spotless, well‑kept, and offered a lovely view that made our stay even more relaxing. The location is amazing, with close proximity to major transit options, making it very convenient to get around. A remarkable experience overall, and we would certainly choose this hotel again.
