During check in, they mentioned rooms are not ready because they have new trainees and it takes time. AC was not working, they provided fan but it was also not working. Tried to call reception multiple times, they didn’t pick up. No handwash, even though there’s a soap holder. When asked for hand wash soap, they gave a small bottle of shampoo/body soap instead. Shower door will still make your whole floor wet.During check in, they mentioned rooms are not ready because they have new trainees and it takes time. So sorry to say this but, this hotel is very bad at housekeeping. They haven't cleaned the room for three days that I have never seen such a thing before esp.for a Marriot. No clean towels, bed sheets, no clean cups, not cleaning the bathroom either..we have mailed this to the manager, then they did. Also, the Ac wasn't working...they gave free breakfast in return for this...it was good, indeed.
This is a terrific hotel. We stayed during a time when the A/C wasn’t functioning but the staff pulled out all the stops for us, and really made up for what was ultimately a minor inconvenience. Especially the guy who works here from Luxembourg who made us feel so welcome. Rooms are amazing, spacious and cozy. Amenities are great. We travel 4x/year to Berlin and until note stayed at a different hotel. But we are converts to this one!
We've been returning customers for about three years now (Silver members). Most of the staff (esp. Edmir) are very welcoming and friendly, and take every measure to make you feel at ease. The building itself seems well kept, but… yes, this is going to be a substantial but. Maintenance is the major downfall. The heating system once failed during winter. This, however, was handled quite well, with additional radiators provided to rooms on an individual basis. What drained the bitter cup was our current stay. The AC (in the AC — pun intended) failed during a major heat wave sweeping across Europe. This was no surprise; quite the contrary, it was anticipated by every major weather forecaster and — truth be told — heat should hardly be a shock given the current climate. How did hotel management address this? It didn't. In any way whatsoever. Our room was well above 40°C, and we had to ask for a fan several times. It was never delivered. I ended up walking to the adjacent Marriott hotel, Moxy, to ask for one. A wonderful staff member there, Bernardo, kindly helped me out. Quite disappointingly for a hotel of this stature and affiliation, nothing was done to ease the consequences of the AC failure. No cool water offered without an explicit request. No cooled areas arranged for guests to bring their body temperature down. No proactive measures to help us through an inhumane heat wave. While the front desk staff were reassuring, the outcome was nil. For three days running, nothing happened. Only a few people were forthcoming and went above and beyond: apart from Bernardo, Izabela deserves special mention for arranging iced water for all AC and Moxy guests. A further letdown: the bar and restaurant are not what the pictures promise. Both are understaffed, and the whole area feels like it could be managed considerably better. Shame on you, AC Hotel leadership, for failing to rise to the challenge and look after your guests — some of whom may be especially vulnerable to heat and were genuinely affected by the way you handled this.
The checkin process was great, the room was excellent, and the staff was very attentive. The location is both quiet and with easy access to busses and trains. Special thanks to the wonderful bartender Ta’ya: seeing my friend and my rooms weren’t ready, she took care of us at the bar and made sure we knew when our rooms were ready for us. She took care of us at the bar the following night as well. Her level of hospitality is one of the highest this frequent traveler has ever seen anywhere in the world. And her cocktails are pure excellence.
