Stig was a wonderful, knowledgeable, friendly and intelligent guide who spoke all things Norway. He is passionate and happy to answer any questions. My trip ended with Stig after the cruise in the Fjords (brilliant). We then had the railway at Flam which was great. The only problem is in late October it gets dark at 5pm. Our cruise was from 12 to 2pm But we had to wait until 4pm for the 1 hour train trip. By the time we were half way thru, it was hard to see anything, let alone take photos or videos. We tried to move our train to an earlier one (2:45pm) which would have been perfect, but they weren’t flexible. Changing trains at Myrdal the whole journey back to Bergen was in darkness.

Fed by the Kroelvi stream, it dramatically tumbles over a receding cliff, showcasing nature's raw power and sheer beauty. What makes Tvindefossen one of the best waterfalls in Norway isn't just its height or the mesmerizing water flow; it's the legends and history that envelop it, giving this spot a mystical aura. Flåm is the most popular village around the Aurlandsfjord, and one of Norway’s most popular tourist destinations. The village has had a history of tourism dating back over 100 years, to when rich, British tourists would come to the fjords to fish salmon in the rivers here. Flåm is small, with around 400 inhabitants. The stop in Flåm varies because of the different cruise and train times during the year. In the winter time you only have 30 or 45 minutes of free time before the train leaves. In the summer you have 1-2 hours free time in flåm, because the train leaves at a later time.
The train runs from the end of Aurlandsfjord, a tributary of the Sognefjord, up to the high mountains at Myrdal station. Over the course of one hour, the train takes you from sea level at the Sognefjord in Flåm to the Myrdal mountain station, situated at 867 meters above sea level. The Flåm Railway is one of the steepest standard gauge railway lines in the world, with 80% of the journey running on a gradient of 5.5%. The train runs through spectacular scenery, alongside the Rallar Road, vertiginous mountainsides, foaming waterfalls and through 20 tunnels. They really packed people in on the boat ride, difficult to find a seat or move around freely. The windows were always fogged over so unable to enjoy view. Way over priced for what they claim was a great “scenic ride”
It was an awesome day with our awesome guide! Very well paced and informative! Guide got us to every activity on schedule. Van was perfect size and not overcrowded. Highly recommend!
It seemed perfect except trip advisor did not include the meeting point address with our confirmation which made it difficult to find
This was an excellent tour overall. Fjord drive tours did the tour. The vehicle (20 passengers) was clean, comfortable and well maintained with a professional, friendly driver (Gary) who spoke excellent English. As everyone arrived on time by 8:45 we were able to do some additional photo stops. The boat was 100%, as was the train (sit right facing forward) The Viking village is nice but touristy with many of the staff from other countries. This tour makes for a long day but is still an excellent tour. The driver leaves you after embarking the boat but this is fine as it easy to get on the next part of the jorney.
This was a great, full day experience. Our guide, Selene, did a fabulous job giving information and answering lots of questions. Our driver, Tommy, also did a great job getting us everywhere safely and chipped in here and there with additional local knowledge. They even found time for an additional photo op of two at some wonderful vistas. It is a very long day but well worth it!!
This was a WONDERFUL tour. Having been on several guided tours, the guide makes all the difference, and we had the best! Selene was extremely personable and full of knowledge of the area, the history, and the culture. She was also very conscientious of her tour group, always making certain we were all present and accounted for. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tour. The sites are awesome and spectacular, and the perspectives experienced by train and c cruise were incredible.
Long day , but a fun one ! Rain in first part of the day played spoil sport. The waterfall stops were amazing. Viking village a bit over rated and too much time allocated . The guide and driver of the black Mercedes van - Gier was a very affable guy and helped sketch out Bergen and the surrounding areas as best as he could . Voss was a great town we passed by ( ideally should have a break there ) . The drive back from Flåm to Myrdal and the waterfall stop was amazing ( sit on the left side of the train ) . From Myrdal to Bergen , the last leg is too long . Recommendation ideally the tour company should give reserved seats or one can be asked to move out to another seat . Recommended
Great day. The boat and train through the fjords were the highlight. It’s a very long day, which ends in a bit of a fizzle - a 2.25 hour commuter train ride that’s stops every 3 to 10 minutes on its way back to Bergen.
A long day, but fantastic! The bus journey was relatively long, but the scenery was magnificent. We loved every stop. The Viking village of Njardarheimr was very interesting with its characters and activities, such as axe throwing and sword fights. The fjord was breathtaking, as was the village of Flåm. And to top it all off, the spectacular train ride from Flåm to Myrdal station. A perfect day to discover Norway!
Stig, our tourist guide, was amazing and funny. The experience is very nice and worth it 👌 ☺️
Tonje was fabulous! She shared so much good information with us, showed us so many great spots, some hidden gems and was absolutely lovely to spend the day with. It was a wonderful day and she was training two others, the names escaped me but they too were fabulous and were also fantastic sharing information as well.
We loved the ease of the drive and the fjords cruise. They were stunning. Our guide, Gerd, was very knowledgeable and kind. The only negative was going to the viewpoint in Flam- it took almost 3 hours. Instead it would be better to omit that part and start the train ride earlier. Many thanks for having us!
We enjoyed every aspect of the day trip. There were spectacular views on the boat and the train and our guide was knowledgeable and helpful.
Wonderful naration of what we were seeing and the local history. Great way to see multiple fjords!!!
Saw many beautiful sites! Never knew there were so many waterfalls in Norway. Well worth the time and expense!
Absolutely fabulous experience… our guide Thomas was professional and knowledgeable as we road in the comfort of his sprinter van. The fjord cruise to flambana train and finally the train from Myrdal to Bergen was easy and seamless. The views all day from each experience were breathtaking. It’s a long day but well worth it.
Weather in Norway can never be guaranteed, but we were lucky. Our driver was helpful and informative. The fjord cruise and Flam Railway were highlights. We would thoroughly recommend this trip.
I wish the driver had shared more information about Norway and the fjords, geography, lore, etc. instead he only drove and, at one point, played a collection of classical music with Grieg beginning. We four felt the Viking Village was a bit like any other reconstructed amusement park, a bit hokey. The cruise was amazing but the geology, on going changes, history of the country and her people would have added so much. The cruise went far beyond our expectations. We four enjoyed the Flam rail upon our return.
Bring a raincoat. Waterfalls were fantastic. FLÅM train lived up to its reputation. Good driver on first part of tour.
Great trip. Great guide. Reza was great. Highly recommend. Easy transitions to many parts of our 12 hour tour
A really fantastic day which packed in so much! Our driver, Stig, was very good and we learnt a lot from him. The Viking Village was well worth a visit and the fjord boat trip and Flam Railway were very special. All very well organised and everything ran exactly to the schedule.
Was a good tour Guide was good & told us about everything we should know just be careful when u get your tickets for train that if your a couple u might not be sat together & make sure u read the tour itinerary because from the cruise the tour is self guided which 1 lady didn’t know & was on her own . So I sat with her on both trains them walked her back to her hotel .
Learned so much information from our guide during the first part of the tour then was left to navigate Flam after the cruise and the trains ourselves. Wish we had more time at the Viking village and felt we definitely shouldn’t have paid for the full experience when we were there for 30 min. The cruise was gorgeous and the boat was amazing
Train ride back very scenic. Better than more time in a van. ‐--------------------------------------
We had a great time doing the Viking village Fjordes and the glum railway trip. Astrid was very knowledgeable and spoke very well and proud of what she was exposing to us. The take away for us was be prepared for all weather conditions
A fantastic experience. Great communication about changes and receiving our train and boat tickets. Our guide Stig was brilliant we wished wde could have spent the whole day with him, he is very knowledgeable, friendly and down to earth and gave us all the info we needed to get back to Bergen by train. The viking village was great with a great guided tour. The Fjord's are stunning and the boat was lovely. Flåm is a lovely little town, we only had 40 minutes there so it was a quick visit but that was enough for us. The Flåm railway has stunning views and is a great experience, with a stop at Kjosfossen waterfall where we could get off the train for pictures. Overall a day to remember.
Good experience overall. However some of the experience feels rushed (i.e. Viking Village was less than 45 minutes before next cruise, 30 minutes only at Flåm) The van and Tom as a guide were amazing!
Overall this trip is great but would have liked more time at the Viking village. 30 minutes is nowhere near long enough and we could not see it all in that time. Really disappointed about that. The cruise is excellent as well as the Flam railway trip. They were well worth doing.
I was too late to buy tickets for the Flam Railway from Oslo to Bergen so I was looking for an alternative that would include it, leaving from Bergen. This tour was perfect! Our guide, Thomas, was amazing! As we rode through Norway he shared his observations as a native German who fell in love with the country. There were so many fun and interesting things that I never would have noticed or come across. Because we lucked out with a nice day, he tried out an extra stop that had great views. When we arrived at the Viking Village, which is next to spot where the fjord cruise departs, his job was done and he could have left. Instead, he let us keep our bags in the van while we explored the Viking Village and he waited to make sure we all got on the cruise without a problem. That went above and beyond. He provided a great start to an amazing day exploring Norway. My only regret is that I didn't say a proper thank you or goodbye as we rushed to grab a coffee and board the cruise. I also really enjoyed the Viking village. I was a little worried it would be geared more towards children but it wasn't and it was fun to learn about how things were back in the days of the Vikings. The rest of the day went smoothly and I would definitely recommend this tour!
The day was beautiful but we had some transportation issues at the start that threw the did our confidence all morning. Hence the time at the Viking Village got shortened by a lot. We felt after that we could have done the whole experience more economically. But the views, experience was a “do not miss” experience.
Norway in a day. The Flåm railway is one of the best experiences. The guide was very informative. Do it.
Great day. Easy to connect, well organised, comfortable bus and good group size. Spectacular scenery beyond description.
Great guide and captured all the key places in one day! Waterfalls, viking village (not a real one but fun nevertheless), Flam Rail and Cruise.
An incredible day including waterfalls, fjords and the Flambana! Special thanks to our guide/driver Thomas for sharing his stories, insights and sense of humor. A perfect tour to discover the Bergen area and enjoy the magnificent Nærøyfjord. West Norway in a nutshell!
The tour was excellent and planned well. We knew exactly what the itinerary was and what we needed to do. The drive up to Gudvangen was great and we got to learn more about the area from our tour guide. Viking village was a fun and educational stop and the fjords are breath taking. The Flåm railway is historical, so yes it is dated, but that is part of the charm and only added to the experience for us! Overall, each stop was wonderful and the tour was very well planned out. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip, thank you for a wonderful and unforgettable day!
This excursion was awesome; got to view spectacular and beautiful area of Norway. Our guide/driver was very personal and knowledgeable. Tour logistics were great and our vehicle was immaculate. Highly recommend this tour.
The bus ride to the Viking Village was wonderful with much information given about Norway and the areas visited. We enjoyed all the stops for photos and rest breaks. The Viking Village, Fjord cruise and Fram Railway ride were all terrific. The only problem we had was that after the Fram Railway ride, the Vy train connection in Myrdal was cancelled due to a train derailment. We were disappointed in the way the trip vendor Fjordrive AS simply referred us to Vy train company to get back to Bergen without providing us any feedback as to the help we could expect from Vy to return to Bergen from Myrdal. We had to return to Fram from Myrdal and wait for buses to transfer us to Voss for a connection back to Bergen. It was a free-for-all trying to board the buses and all of our party could not board the same bus. We arrived back at Bergen at 3:00am. While the train derailment was not the failt of Fjordive AS, we expected more assistance from Fjordrive AS to ensure how we would return to Bergen from Myrdal and Fram.
This tour brought us to two must see of Bergen excursion. Before reaching out to the two major sightseeing spots, we had short breaks at Dale, Tvindefossen and the Viking Village. The fall was very nice and worth visiting. The Viking Village was, to us, just a spot for lunch, but may be a good spots for travellers with kids. The cruise to the Noeroyfjorden was the highlight of the tour. The boat is spacious and new, and has big windows for easy viewing of the beautiful scenery. The fjord and the mountains views are breathtaking. Deck was opened for viewing as well. We also downloaded Guide To Go app (QR code for downloading is available on board, WiFi also available and is good enough), which gave us realtime guide during the cruise. Flåm railway is also good with good view, although the train is a bit dated. For the trip, our guide was only with us until arriving the Viking Village where he gave the tickets to us and left us (total time he spent with us was around 3 and a half hours out of 12 hours of the whole trip). We took the cruise and the trains totally on our own. This is fine for us but may be disappointing for travellers who expect a guided tour. For the service we had, I think the tour is a bit overpriced.
This incorporates all the best of the area in one trip at a reasonable cost. Our driver was humourous and gave great history and information on our drive to Gudvagen. After that you are on your ie. but his instructions were so clear we couldn’t go wrong. The Viking village was fun, the cruise up the fjord was wonderful, the sights on the Flam railway were stunning and then the trip by train back to Bergen was relaxing with more beauty out every window. There are no meals supplied but if you eat a big breakfast there are lots of places to get snacks at the Viking village, the ferry and in Flam.
We’ve had a wonderfull experience. Our guide Geir showed us the surroundings of Bergen and told us some interesting stories about the local culture and nature. The Fjord tour and the Flambahn were amazing too. We would totally recommend it to everyone! Greeting from Johan, Renetta, Hepke, Joke, Ate and Sandra from The Netherlands.
Enjoyed the experience but wish the cruise had involved some guide participation as it would have enhanced the experience
This is a great experience if you want to take stress away from planning a day trip. It is appropriately planned and all the information is provided for a smooth transition between the activities. The description states this, but someone will personally guide you first half of the trip and then you are given tickets and instructions for you to move on your own.
We loved this tour, it was the highlight of our trip! It was a long day with lots of transfers and everything went so smoothly and on time. We started the day with Thomas driving us to our boat through the fjhord. He was so knowledgeable and fun, a perfect way to start our adventure! The Viking Village was a unique experience and the boat through the fjhord and was breathtaking. Flam and the Flam railway was a fantastic ending to a great day!
Our guide was excellent. Every stop was interesting and he gave us information about each spot. The scenery on the fjord cruise was just incredible, and it continued on the Flamsbana train trip. The van was comfortable, and it was a wonderful day.
The driver,Stig was exceptional. He told us a lot of interesting.things. We were very comfortable with him.
A fantastic experience with a full day that, without stress, provided nature and culture experiences for life. Highly recommended
The guide accompanies us only to the Viking village, where a “Viking” speaks to us in about 30’ and introduces us to the village. Then we were left on the boat and from there the journey and return is on our own. I found the cost high for what is offered.
Very nice and challenging but only because it lasts all day! But it was worth it! I recommend it!!!
