The highlight of this trip was being able to explore a fjord without spending an entire day on a ferry. A couple of points of feedback though: 1. Stick to the time communicated. Starting at the very beginning of the trip, we were waiting on others who couldn't seem to get to the bus in time. We were 15 minutes late getting started, which is annoying when you make sure you arrive on time for an early in the morning departure. This trend continued at every stop as people learned that times didn't matter. That either eats into time you could spend at a later stop or extends the day further. 2. The "fun facts" on the bus need some rework. The delivery was all over the place, with sudden interjections with a string of facts or a random anecdote. Some of these were interesting, but the delivery could use work. 3. The stops along the way felt like opportunities to make additional sales. The reasoning for some was that there were restrooms at the stops, but toward the end of the tour, we learned that there were bathrooms on the bus they just didn't want us to use. 4. The bus temperature was all over the place. We spent half the time being too hot and getting nauseous as a result. Another 40% of the time was too cold, with only about 10% of a 12-hour trip being comfortable.

Itinerary
The tour begins by coach. The drive from Bergen offers stunning landscapes, with views of the beautiful Osterfjord and fascinating stories from your guide along the way.
After about an hour, we make a short stop — a chance to stretch your legs and use the restroom. When opening hours allow, the break is arranged at Dalegarden Outlet and Kafe, a welcoming local shop which offers a variety of great goods from different suppliers at reduced prices.
About thirty minutes later, we pass through Voss — a charming town in the heart of Western Norway — before the scenery becomes even more dramatic as we approach majestic mountains, spectacular waterfalls, and one of Norway’s most beautiful fjords.
Tvindefossen is an impressive waterfall, dropping 116 meters in a beautiful display of multiple streams cascading down the cliff. The waterfall is surrounded by a legend claiming that its water has rejuvenating powers. This legend has made Tvindefossen one of Norway’s most visited natural attractions, welcoming thousands of visitors each year. (From 1 June to 30 September, we visit Tvindefossen on the return journey.)
Gudvangen is a beautiful and authentic village, nestled deep within the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord — a place that feels truly Norwegian. Surrounded by towering mountains and cascading waterfalls, the village offers a calm and charming atmosphere. Gudvangen is also home to the famous Viking Village, which adds to its unique character and historical charm. Here, the highlight of the day begins: a spectacular 2-hour fjord cruise through the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord.
In Gudvangen, we board the boat that takes us onto the Nærøyfjord – one of Norway’s most beautiful and dramatic fjords. With steep mountain walls, narrow passages, and impressive landscapes, the fjord offers a quiet and unforgettable way to experience Norway’s nature. The Nærøyfjord is a branch of the Sognefjord and stretches for about 17 kilometres, with mountains rising up to 1,800 metres above sea level. As part of the UNESCO World Heritage list, this area stands as a remarkable example of Norway’s natural beauty. Sit back, relax, and take in the unspoiled nature around you!
Flåm is a small, scenic village located at the heart of the Aurlandsfjord, a branch of the majestic Sognefjord. Surrounded by steep mountains and waterfalls, it offers a peaceful atmosphere and some of the most beautiful scenery in the region.
Stegastein is a spectacular viewing platform that stretches 30 metres out from the mountainside, 650 metres above the Aurlandsfjord. From here, you’ll enjoy an incredible panoramic view of the fjord and the surrounding mountains – a favourite stop for both visitors and locals. The platform is part of the National Tourist Route between Aurland and Lærdal, offering a unique chance to experience Norway’s dramatic landscape up close. Occasionally, summer fog can reduce visibility at this height, but on such days we’ll make an alternative stop in Aurland.
After visiting Stegastein, we head back toward Bergen, stopping in Gudvangen for a relaxing coffee break in a beautiful fjordside setting, surrounded by towering mountains and spectacular scenery. During the summer season, we instead stop at the historic Stalheim Hotel, majestically located with panoramic views over the dramatic Nærøydalen Valley. The hotel has welcomed guests since the 1800s and holds a rich history, including royal visits and serving as a source of artistic inspiration.

It was a very nice trip, amazing scene during the fjord journey. I highly recommend this trip. We had a great guide trip and driver.
An excellent guide—friendly, warm, smiling, and super intelligent, with very clear English. The explanations were interesting, and we were taken to all the promised locations. The bus journey is a bit long; I would have preferred the option to return to Bergen by train but it wasn´t available when I booked the tour, others did took it though...
We had an amazing time on this tour. From spectacular waterfalls and winding mountain roads to breath-taking fjords and incredible viewpoints, it was one of the highlights of our time in Norway. The organisation was excellent, the scenery was extraordinary, and we would not hesitate to do it all over again! Although you spend a fair amount of time on the bus, don't let that put you off. The bus was comfortable, and the scenery changes constantly, so there is always something new to admire. The journey itself becomes part of the experience. The operation was exceptionally well run, and both our driver and guide deserve enormous credit. I wish I could remember the driver's name because he deserves a special mention. His driving was world-class, particularly on the challenging switchbacks leading up to the Stegastein viewpoint. Navigating those winding mountain roads in a coach takes real skill, and he handled it like an absolute champion. Our guide, whose name I believe was Alice, was incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining. She shared fascinating information along the way while keeping the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable. We will never forget the "troll's eggs"! Our first major stop was Tvindefossen, and what a sight it was! The waterfall was gushing when we visited and was incredibly impressive. It's a beautiful introduction to the natural wonders that await throughout the day. Gudvangen itself is beautiful, with incredible scenery and wonderful opportunities for photographs. Lunch was a delicious smoked salmon sandwich. Just be aware that this is a straightforward lunch rather than an elaborate meal. If you're expecting a three-course feast, you may be disappointed, but we found it perfectly enjoyable. The two-hour cruise through Nærøyfjord was simply breathtaking. Gliding through the fjord, surrounded by towering mountains and dramatic landscapes, was an experience we'll remember for a very long time. We were fortunate enough to see several rainbows along the fjord, which made an already magical experience even more special. It's difficult to put scenery like this into words. Photographs can capture the landscape, but they don't quite convey the scale and atmosphere of being there. Of all the stops on the tour, Flåm was probably the least impressive for us. That isn't a criticism of the village itself; it's simply that the surrounding scenery throughout the day was so extraordinary that Flåm had some tough competition! Our next major highlight was Stegastein viewpoint, overlooking the Aurlandsfjord. The panoramic views were staggering and well worth the journey up the mountain. The viewpoint gives you a remarkable perspective of the fjord and the surrounding landscape, and it was one of our favourite stops of the day. The drive up the winding switchbacks was an experience in itself, and once again, our driver demonstrated exceptional skill and confidence behind the wheel. Our afternoon break took us to the historic Stalheim Hotel, where we enjoyed a delicious coffee and pastry. The views from the hotel are absolutely staggering, making it a wonderful place to pause, relax and take in the beauty of the surrounding mountains and valley. For me, however, there was an unexpected extra highlight. I was fortunate enough to sit down and play the hotel's magnificent Steinway grand piano! As a music lover, that was a real privilege and a special moment I hadn't anticipated when booking the tour. It's these unexpected experiences that often turn a great excursion into an unforgettable one. The pace of the tour was spot on. We had enough time at each stop to take photographs, appreciate the surroundings and enjoy the experience without feeling rushed. The weather changed throughout the day, but that's Norway, and certainly not something the tour operator can control. Despite the changing conditions, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was a full day, but one packed with memorable experiences. Would we recommend this tour? Absolutely, without hesitation! This is an exceptionally well-organised tour that allows you to experience some of Norway's most spectacular scenery in a single day. The driver was outstanding, our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining, and the itinerary offered a wonderful variety of landscapes and experiences. The highlights for us were the magnificent Tvindefossen waterfall, the unforgettable Nærøyfjord cruise, the panoramic views from Stegastein and the unexpected pleasure of playing the Steinway grand piano at Stalheim Hotel. Even with the changing weather, we thoroughly enjoyed every moment. If you're visiting Bergen and want to experience the Norwegian fjords beyond the city, this tour is well worth the money. Five stars from us. A memorable day, outstanding scenery and an experience we'd happily repeat! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This tour was fantastic! It didn't hurt that we had a glorious, sunny day! We started on the bus and saw some waterfalls before taking a cruise through two different fjords, which ended at Flåm. Flåm itself was just darling, though tiny and we had an hour to explore, which was more than enough time. From there, we hopped back on our bus and headed up to Stegastein viewpoint. Wow! Talk about a highlight! A good thing about going in October was that there were no crowds at the viewpoint or on the road up, which was only wide enough for one car anytime. There are several little spots along the way to pull over and let other cars pass. Our driver and tour guide were both amazing. They were engaging and funny, and our tour guide had lots of interesting facts about Norway to share. Because of our limited time and lack of individual transportation, we felt that this tour was a great way to see all that we did.
Great overview of the fjords and other scenic views east of Bergen. The tour guide was easy to understand and added plenty of information regarding each tour stop and Norway history and culture in general.
Extremely entertaining and an amazing 12 hours of wonderful history of the Norwegian culture. Also just the incredible beauty that the land holds from the lakes rivers and mountains to the rich history the land really impressed me and the guide “Jan” was truly a genuine inspiration
This was my first visit to Bergen, and I couldn't have wished for a better introduction to Norway's gorgeous scenery and culture than this tour. The tour guide, Sol, was incredible, sharing overviews of everything from Norway's history and customs to traditional clothing and food, thoughtfully paced during the bus travel to help pass the time. Seeing the fjords from the boot was unforgettable, and the stops at the mountain overlooks were just as stunning. Highly recommend!
Great trip. A long day but some fantastic scenery and country. Our guide was very knowledgeable and enhanced the whole day. Thank tou
Very informative guide. He helped many people on the tour to take nice photos, shared his knowledge of Norway and provided a well organized and comfortable trip. There were plenty of toilet stops, almost one every hour so we didn't have to worry.
We had s great time the whole way! Recommended if you are staying at bergen.
Young is a very knowledgeable, organized, and open-minded guide. We had a very good experience. We would recommend it to everyone who is traveling in Bergen.
An incredible way to discover the fjords and villages along the way. Also, a good introduction to the historical connection Norwegians have with nature and the outdoors. The pace of the day trip was great and we thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the itinerary. The driver Nico and the guide Liam were very friendly and gave clear instructions throughout. Liam was knowledgeable and we enjoyed his anecdotes - the more sobering ones and the really funny ones! Thank you very much for a great day!
Our guide, driver, and Norway landscape did not disappoint. Highly recommended but do be careful on the booking. My husband took ill and even though I tried to cancel him more than 24 hours in advance the tour has a minimum and this was not possible. The tour, itself was well worth taking.
This tour was an awesome, fiord-packed 12 hour day! Driver Torgei and guide Helene provided a well- organized and interesting tour deep into the fiord country. A view from the mountain top, a stunning ride through a narrow fiord, picturesque farms and a waterfall made this a feast for the eyes. Comfort stops were frequent, but were not time wasters. If you only have one day to see the fiords from Bergen, this tour is the one!
Excellent tour . Recommended Tour guide Sineba and driver Rune made the day with their friendship and willingness
Our guide was friendly and fun. Our driver was incredibly skilled in maneuvering the big bus up tight switchbacks. The views were phenomenal!
Excellent all day tour of the Fjords. Our guide was calm & reassuring & provided lots of breaks along the way. Our driver was outstanding in navigating the winding roads & very friendly as well.
Everything was great and smooth the tour lady was great and the bus driver was super nice, recommend
We had an excellent varied tour, a fantastic experience that I would recommend. We saw Norway at its best. Our guide Helena was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful and our very experienced driver navigated any narrow streets with great skill.
My family and I booked on this trip and had the best time. Our guide, Liam, really made the trip the best we have ever been on. Thank you for such a great mix of experiences and such interesting information about Norway's history and culture.
My friend and I had an incredible day with Cineva (I think this is how you spell her name) and Samanta. The tour overall was a good way to see a lot of Norway’s natural beauty without worrying about the logistics of going to the most famous sites yourself. The stops were very impressive, our favorite was cruising through the fjord ☺️ Another highlight from our day was our lovely guide, Cineva. She was so patient with our large crew, told us fun facts along the way and had an amazing sense of humor. We really enjoyed the jokes along the ride. And must give a shoutout to our driver, Samanta. We talked to her a little bit and she was super nice and sweet. But most notable was her amazing driving, some of the roads were very intimidating and my friend and I were very impressed by how expertly Samanta navigated them as well as the oncoming traffic. We were very thankful to have her at the wheel! Our only recommendation is that you bring extra water and snacks since it’s a long day.
The weather and scenery were absolutely incredible — I couldn’t have asked for better conditions. My guide was fantastic, and you could really tell how much she loves these places. Her passion made the whole experience even more special. Thank you as well for the delicious lunch, coffee and lovely treats — such thoughtful touches that made the day even more enjoyable.
I had a wonderful experience on my trip with Travel North! Jan was extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Mona was also a fantastic driver, very professional, experienced, and careful. As a solo traveler, I felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout the trip. I truly enjoyed the whole experience and would definitely choose Travel North again. Highly recommended!
Worth every penny! If there is one thing you’d pick to do during your stay in Bergen, this is it. Big bus was nice and comfortable and pickup location was convenient, the views of the fjords were breathtaking. They stopped often to allow everyone a snack break/ bathroom break. We stopped at a couple of viewpoints, and also at a waterfall. Very scenic route and our tour guide was amazing! She shared many fun facts, funny stories, and songs. Didn’t overdo it but just the right amount to keep everyone entertained. Again 10/10 recommend!!!
Amazing experience all around. We did this tour yesterday and our guide Alice and driver Mikael were beyond outstanding. The tour was comfortable, informative and really fun. The sandwich provided for a light lunch was fresh and tasty. Everything super organized and smooth. Definitely recommend this tour.
This was a fantastic experience! The tour exceeded all our expectations. Then tour guide and the bus driver were an outstanding team! They ensured we experienced all the beauty of the fjord region and provided us with interesting insight regarding the history and culture of Norway. I would recommend this tour without any hesitation!
I had a fantastic time on our fjord tour from Bergen (the Naeroyfjorden, Flam & Stegastein tour). The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, but what really made the experience special was our tour guide. They were incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful throughout the entire trip. Our guide shared fascinating information about the fjords, the local history, culture, and landscape, while also taking the time to answer questions and make sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying the experience. Their enthusiasm and expertise really brought the journey to life. The tour was well organised, relaxed, and thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. I would highly recommend this fjord tour to anyone visiting Bergen — especially if you’re lucky enough to have such a fantastic guide!
An unforgettable experience from start to finish. The scenery was breathtaking, the lunch was great, and everything was very well organized. Our guide, Liam, was knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely funny. Mustafa was an excellent driver who handled the winding mountain roads with impressive skill. Highly recommended!
Beautiful, dramatic scenery. Jan was amazing. The boat ride was worth it even in the rain. Take a raincoat and waterproof shoes and enjoy!
Huge shoutout to Travel North for an unforgettable trip! Our guide was super entertaining, helpful and shared so many awesome facts about Norway. The Nærøyfjord cruise was hands down my favorite part. It absolutely amazing! I just wish we had more time in Flåm because we only managed to hit one shop. Such a great experience! Highly recommended!
Everything was better than expected. Our guide Jan was fantastic. He gave us so much history and information about Norway. It was highly informative. Our driver, I don’t remember his name for sure, but he’s from Sweden, was so incredible. He maneuvered the roads and made it look easy. Lunch was good, the scenery was spectacular. It was a very long day and absolutely worth it! Highly recommend!
This is an absolute must while you were in Bergen because it’s the best way to see the fjords. Our tour guide was wonderful as well!
There were delays going up the mountain to the viewing platform and then going back down. Our driver and guide were great but the Norwegian authorities need to better regulate traffic going up and down the mountain Perhaps they could set up gates that let 20 vehicles to go up at once. When they all arrive at the top , then open a gate to let 20 vehicles go down. And so forth
Very enjoyable day, excellent guide and better than excellent bus driver! I would recommend this to anyone that has a day to spend sightseeing.
The included lunch is only a small cold sandwich at 11:20. There is no chance to eat or buy food until 8pm.
Absolutely AMAZING experience! It is definitely a long day, but 100% worth the time and money. Got to take some great pictures and see the beauty in person.
I enjoyed the personal touch of the tourguide and driver . They made the trip present to attend Thr trip itself was phenomenal it was a photography fun house
I had to ask her to clarify statements she said. For example, the hotel Stalheim was near the fjord that we just toured. I asked what was the name of the area that I was viewing . She replied a word I didn’t understand. She just should have said the fjord which she pronounced as hard g ord. I didn’t enjoy the music, especially a recording done by the bus driver. Male tourists on the bus helped me down the steps of the bus. Not the bus driver. Too much talking between the guide and the bus driver.
The fjord ferry was breathtaking! The scenery was beyond words! The bus trip was well organized. Julia was a fabulous tour guide who told stories and sang. She was so much fun! David our bus driver was so experienced in driving through the mountains! I highly recommend this tour!
Great day! Amazing sights! Nice traveling by bus and boat. Would have been nice to get a little longer in Flam, but i understand that would have been an even longer day. Just spectacular sights. What a fabulous day! I loved having a knowledgeable tour guide providing info and anecdotes along the way! Very valuable indeed
If you have a short stay in Bergen, this is the excellent day tour and cruise for you. Amazing scenery, well organised and guided by a superb local guide. You come away with an understanding of Norwegian life in addition to scenic wonder. We loved the day, even down to the lunch provided. We are so glad we picked this tour.
Excellent organization. Great tour guides. Impeccable service.
The guide and the driver were exceptional , professional and pleasant . Driving through stegastein needed extraordinary skill and experience and the driver was calm and relaxed and confident . Overall it was good experience
Rain or shine, it’s a great way to see the beauty of Norway. With there was more info about WWII at Stalheim (bunker). Get on the boat early or there isn’t a good view. Would like an announcement when key sights are coming along with other info. The waterfall was gorgeous Stegastein provided a different perspective. Overall, lots of beauty enjoyed in 1 day.
Professional, friendly staff and very interesting, beautiful country
Long bus ride, but worth it. Beautiful scenery along the route, multiple stops, and the fjord cruise is worth it. Gorgeous. The tour guide did a great job!
Excellent tour ,great guide and bus driver.Too long ,12 hours plus duration back in Bergen at 8pm.lunch sandwich was poor.
The tour was excellent. The lunch on the boat was delicious and included a bottle of water and a hot drink. The guide was brilliant, very friendly and had lots of useful information and history. The driver was also friendly and had a few tips for us. The cruise was great. We saw lots of beautiful sights.
Great tour with a very knowledgeable guide!
