Plenty of creatively put together presentations of where the idea of trolls came from, what trolls are like, how they appear in mythology, and so forth. This is very definitely not Disney! Plenty to engage kids and adults. Don't miss the mirror that shows you dressed like a troll.

Welcome to the Troll Museum in Bergen - the largest museum in Norway dedicated entirely to trolls and fairy tales. Centrally located in Bergen city, we aim to bring you closer to the magic of Norwegian folk beliefs and the creatures that populate them. Our museum is a unique blend of detailed handmade art, traditional storytelling, and modern digital technologies. The exhibits incorporate augmented reality features that superimpose moving elements and sound on the art you can see. In addition, the museum is equipped with immersive technologies and interactive elements, all of which expand on the physical exhibit and bring you further into the world of fairy tales. This translates into a unique museum experience where you can dip your toes into Norwegian folklore and discover how the idea of trolls has changed over time. The museum also has a number of board games and creativity zones where you can have some fun, as well as a small library stocked with books of fairy tales.

Great fun on a rainy day . Very good interactive displays and audio.
Great for kids of all ages!!!!
It was adorable!!!!! They did such a great job explaining the myths of Trolls, how they became known of in Norway, etc. The special effects were so well thought out. Wished I could bring my grandbabies through this cute museum!
This museum was so cute! Obviously, I learned a lot about trolls but also other Norwegian mythical creatures and fairy tales. It is great for kids but also fun for adults.
It's well created but very heavy content with a lot of names and places. There were activities for kids and a few interactive exhibits that were great. Sadly, it was quite hot and stuffy inside.
We spent a couple of hours at the Troll Museum with our 11 yr old grandson. The exhibits were more scholarly than I expected—I would have liked more time to peruse but they did not hold a child’s interest. He really liked the scavenger hunt and there were friendly helpful guides for when he got stuck. We arrived soon after opening and by the time we left it was much more crowded. Come early.
This was such a great little find, it was really well set up, I got the audio tour as like to read on tablet as well as listen, really interesting and great rooms- perfect for every age from small kids to young at heart, they have fun mirrors too so you can see in virtual reality what you look like as a troll or Viking
I loved it. The museum is aimed at children but it caters for adults too. Anyone interested in folklore or mythology should visit.
This is mildly interesting but who is it for? Half of it is for adults. The other half is for little kids. Neither will be happy in the end. Unless you are dying to learn about trolls, stay far away. This is a money grab for an audio narration and some kids nonsense.
Just looking for things to do in Burgen and The Troll museum came up , we found it very easily , This is one of the best attraction i have been to in norway. Perfect for kids or adults ,we had fun going around with all the interaction activitys. Lovely detail displays of the trolls and storys to go with all the displays Staff lovely and polite .Toilets available inside..Worth a visit for young and old ..You will believe once visited...
Mostly for Kids. It was a fun Museum but the quality between the exhibitions went from 1 to 10. it is small and with heavy focus on listening to an ipad. Many exhibitions rely heavily on AI, but they do also have magnificent Dioramas. For kids it is very fun, but as an Adult you don’t get much for what the ticket costs.
I love fairy tales and find the Norwegian ones fascinating. The exhibits are nicely set up, and they have engaging activities for kids. I simply felt that the price was too much compared to other museums.
Great and exceeded expectations as very informative! Lots to look at, the audio guide is great. Info on the history of trolls snd mtyths/legends. Loved it all, great for adults and older kids.
Got in right away .Not busy.500 K for 3 people.Small museum with a couple of fun exhibits.Got through in less than half an hour.
Not what I expected. About writers that wrote about Trolls. Lots of audio and poster boards to read about history.
This museum is walkable from most cruise ships. It is in the heart of town. It will give you a lot of information about how trolls started from history. Illustrations are cute and audio systems good. Will take you 1 or 2 hours depot how much information you want to gather.
I think I would’ve got more from the experience had I not been on the cruise first, where I learned a lot about Trolls
A really disappointing experience for both adults. Nothing really to do unless you want to read or listen to audio messages on the history of trolls. We wanted to see trolls and there were barely any. We had more fun at the airport putting our heads through the cardboard cutouts. Unless you have children I wouldn’t bother and at £20.00 each it’s not cheap. Person we bought our tickets from was utterly miserable.
Some parts of the museum weren’t of interest to me, but they did have some cool and interactive displays that I appreciated. Don’t know if I would have gone had it not been a rainy day in Bergen.
Great for kids of all ages. Cost $250 nok. It could take 2-3 hrs to go thru it and so activities. Great folklore and fairy tales. Fun interactive displays.
Great experience, enjoyed by our group of 6. Exceeded our expectations, and this group of seniors were so impressed by the interactive area set up for children that we spent at least 45 minutes playing and having fun.
What a find. We thought the museum was rather small but it went further and further Fantastic exhibits and very well presented, even a tablet & earphones to give you more information
This was a pleasant surprise. Audio tour with lots of history about the trolls. Also, interactive exhibits which were fun even for us mature people. There is something for all ages here. A small shop with books in different languages and other collectables. Free lockers for your bags and coats.
Great day out very informative and fun we were 4 adults but thoroughly enjoyed it would be a great place for kids with lots of interactive activities
We had a blast at the Troll Museum. On the day we visited there were no kids but every adult seemed to have so much fun that it felt like we were kids again. The augmented reality technology really draws you in to the experience. The hands on exhibits are engaging and varied. The interactive nature of the whole museum is wonderful. Plus, there is so much history and information presented that it would take a few visits to grasp it all. If you want a fun time that is also educational - this is the place for you.
Really fun, interesting, and engaging. Learned a lot about Norwegian folklore. A great place to bring your kids as there are a lot of activities for them. I would suggest not going too late towards closing time if you want to use the audio headset in addition to reading all the information as it could take longer than an hour or two.
Although some interesting displays, not everything was working. The cost was too high. There was an out of control school group running around, without any attempt to control them.
Really enjoyed our visit, there's so much information to take it, almost too much, but you can read or listen to as much as you desire. You can use your phone to get an audio guide (see pick) There's a lot of interactive/ digital activities to immerse yourself in, it really is fun. Take your time to explore it all, it's worth it.
It was rather long on the talking headset. It had some funny and fun interactive features. Sort of fun to do once for us.
So much fun! This was an interactive museum that had a lot of information in multiple languages about the history of trolls in Norway. The exhibits were highly interactive. In fact there w were mirrors that could transform you into a troll. The information shared about the artist, writers and musicians who created works about. Trolls was very interesting. I highly recommend me this museum!
Good way to kill an hour or two with the kids during the many many rainstorms.
Troll culture at its finest! We discovered this museum when we walked past it half a block from our Airbnb on a wet, blustery day in Bergen and decided to go in for a look. If you’ve traveled in Norway, you know trolls are an important and well-loved feature of the country’s folklore and mythology. The colorful Troll Museum in Bergen is full of exhibits delightfully constructed and designed to enchant both children and adults alike. There are plenty of interactive features, dioramas, miniatures, digital screens, and a playroom for kids. My favorite was the living room with a giant digital troll peering in the windows! The museum gives a great deal of comprehensive information about many Norwegian artists including fairy tale illustrator Theodor Kittelsen. As a side note, it was exciting to read about him here, then later travel to Oslo and view his 1881 original painting of “The Sea Monster” in the National Museum. Care has been taken to present well-made exhibits, and it shows. I would recommend this museum to anyone visiting Bergen, with or without kids, and even on a sunny day! Tip: they sell the best troll postcards (including Theodor Kittelsen Sea Monsters) we saw anywhere in Bergen. Or Norway! Our grands loved them. Bergen Tips: Bergen is a beautiful and charming Norwegian city well worth more time than just a ferry or cruise ship stop. Hotels and Airbnbs are readily available close to the town center, Bryggen. If staying in town, everything (mostly) is walkable and you will not need a rental car. Having said that, on a previous trip to Norway we did have a rental car and were able to experience much more of the country. Head outside the city center or ask locals for advice on restaurants-those close to the wharf are expensive tourist traps. Except for our favorite hotdog stand!
A fun and interactive walk thru at your own pace museum. They also have several picture spots where they put a viking helmet or a troll on your face makes for some fun pictures.
My friend and I had a great time ! It was a super well done tour and very interactive. I thought the exhibits were very well thought out and educational as well.
Very interesting and interactive if you want to know about the skandinavian culture
What a great museum! We loved learning so much about the myths and stories. Really well laid out. Glad we visited. Easy walk from our hotel.
What a fantastic, enchanting, and truly magical experience! The Troll Museum in Bergen is wonderfully interactive, with beautifully designed displays, engaging stories, and fascinating information that draws you in from start to finish. The creativity and artistry behind the trolls themselves is outstanding — clearly crafted with passion, imagination, and incredible skill. The staff add to the experience, making it welcoming and immersive for visitors of all ages. This is one of those rare attractions that delights both young and old alike. Highly recommended — a must-visit when in Bergen.
Brilliant, interactive, investing for all ages! So much fun, especially on a rainy day in Bergen. So pleased we found this place!! Children spent ages designing trolls that came alive in an animation, playing traditional Norwegian games and creating family of troll photographs. Adults enjoyed the history and storytelling just as much.
We absolutely loved this museum! It was very interactive. We stayed there much longer than we planned. I felt like a kid again and even did some of the kid activities. I highly recommend it.
Great little museum, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. It was really interesting and very informative. Great for children too.
Myself & my 15 yr old daughter had a great time here. It's educational & fun. Learn all about Norse mythology & folklore!!
Fantastic small museum. Very nice for kids under 10. Many activities and some interesting stories about Norse mythology’s for adults
From start to finish, the storytelling was enchanting, and the museum itself feels like stepping right into a fairy tale. The trolls are fun, quirky, and full of character—perfect for sparking your imagination. A wonderful spot to spend some time and let a bit of Norwegian magic find you!
It was a delightful museum. I loved how interactive it was. I wish I had my grandchildren with me! I took many pictures so I can share them when I get home. I bought interactive troll magnets for each of them.
This museum is fascinating! To experience all the exhibits to their fullest, make sure to plan at least 2 hours. There are lots of interactive activities for kids.
Great museum! Really well done. A little bit of the history behind the Trolls and description of the different troll species. Also touching in on the artwork and music (Edvard Grieg) Great place to visit
What a lovely unique place to visit for young and old alike. We spent a good couple of hours here and there's plenty of interesting folklore to enjoy. Lots of interactive exhibits to enjoy and the games hall was great fun. Good to be a child again for a while.
This museum ( near the waterfront in Bryggen) is only a month old but was a great find if you have a couple of hours, especially on a rainy day or for a fun activity with kids. I thoroughly enjoyed it myself as did many other adults. The museum has creative displays (some interactive) illustrating the many types of trolls in Nordic culture as well as excellent information on the writers, artists and musicians who depicted them throughout history. There is a game area for children and a small gift shop.
We visited with some trepidation having read other reviews but on a day of torrential rain with bored boys it seemed like a good plan. It was very good fun, some silly, some serious and some amazing tech gadgets made it an ideal location for a couple of hours.
