This app was easy to use. Tour was great. We would have liked the harbour waterfront included. A nice slow 2 mile walk over 60-70 min.

Itinerary
On this walking tour through the small coastal city, I’ll bring its history to life. Our tour starts in front of the steel sculpture of King Olav Kyrre, where you’ll learn about the city’s origins, and how it gradually expanded.
Bergen is a city that has worn many hats. It was once the medieval capital of the Kingdom of Norway, and it was Scandinavia’s commercial centre until the 1600s. The city is renowned for its UNESCO sites, its fish market, and its seven surrounding mountains. It’s also been called ‘the gateway to the fjords’. On this walking tour through the small coastal city, I’ll bring its history to life.
Enjoying a leisurely walk through Festplassen Plaza, a popular square.
You'll see the Statue of Christian Michelsen, a Norwegian national hero and politician.
Enjoying a leisurely walk through city parks and popular squares like the Musikkpaviljongen (Music Pavilion).
You'll see Composer Edvard Grieg’s Statue and learn a bit about him while you walk.
You'll see the statue of famed violinist Ole Bull which stands proudly on top of a fountain.
You'll see the granite statue of distinguished playwright Henrik Ibsen.
You’ll walk through the city centre, taking in important buildings like the National Theatre and the Bergen Cathedral.
While passing by the Gestapomuseet, I'll reveal the city’s darker history such as the Nazi occupation, and tell you about the only way that prisoners could escape from their torture rooms.
Stroll down Torgallmenningen towards the Sailor's Monument.
You'll see one of the most respected landmarks in the city, the Sailor’s Monument, which celebrates Norwegian sailors, their efforts and adventures at sea.
On this tour, you'll have a chance to spot the 17th century cannonball embedded on the Cathedral façade.
Discover the hippest area in the city, Skotstredet.
The audio tour ends in front of one of the city’s oldest statues which depicts writer and poet Ludvig Holberg.

While the crowds leaving the cruise ship were waiting and assembling in groups for their guide lead tours ... we were off exploring leisurely on our own. It was easy to start/stop on our own and we could dwell longer whenever we found something of interest. This was the 1st time we had used a self guided tour around a city and we will certainly do it again. Although some tour guides add a nice element of personality, this tour was so much more reasonable in cost and convenience !
It was very convenient to do a walking tour at our own speed. We were able to avoid all the other tours lead by the cruise groups. It was well worth the money spent !
It was easy to understand the guide, follow along on the map, and go at my own pace. User friendly app
Great way to see and learn about the town of Bergen without having to join a big tour group where you often cannot hear the guy talking. Instructions and math very easy to follow. Go with your own pace. Wood recommended highly
It was very informative. You have to goto its starting point. You can’t start just at the even nearest point. Sometimes directions are bit haywire but can be figured out. Otherwise it’s just like you are walking with a live guide
A good way to explore the statues of Bergen. We would use these walks again in other cities. We only missed one statue we couldn’t find, think it was bring renovated
Thoroughly enjoyed this guided tour. Great to do at your own pace. The narrator was very good interesting and insightful. App cleverly followed your location. Would definitely recommend!
Our second time using VoiceMap to explore a city, but this time I had earbuds so much better! Enjoyed the tour, clear and well paced, with nice anecdotes about Norwegian history and characters. Good value.
Great walking city, we did some guided audio tours and they were great. Gos keeps you on the path and talks about places as you approach. We shared our earbuds so each had one to make sure our timing was on and it worked great
We had just returned from north coast cruise around 3:30 pm. Had one nite before flying out at 6am. This was a perfect way to walk and feel Bergen. It gave us flexibility and was such a great value. Stopped at cute coffee shop. Checked out the old library while it was raining and stopped for wonderful dinner. All was along the tour path. We just paused audio then restarted. Got late so didnt quite do it all but thoroughly enjoyed what we saw and heard even though it got dark. He gave great information as we stopped at statues, plazas, fountains and buildings. I will look for these again when in other cities. One small thing. We wanted to start tour at different spot that would work better for our hotel. May have been possible but we couldnt easily figure it out. We ended up just going to his start point.
Very interesting facts about Bergen, and easy to follow audio guide. We had no difficulty finding each one of the monuments/landmarks, and each one of them had a clear description with some fun facts. It’s good to walk in a city and feel like you know a thing or two about its history.
We had trouble finding the start and we did not have a lot of time in Bergen to follow it up. So didn't actually do the walk. When I contacted them they immediately gave me a refund with their apologies. Very impressive.
Wonderful city to start our Hurtigruten AstonomyVoyage...got to spend 1.5 days on-our-own before boarding M/S Kong Harald. Did our homework from home. Pre-purchased our Mt. Floren funicular rickets Erich expedited boarding the 'car.' Remarkable panoramic views of Bergen and its surrounds. Back below we we so impressed with Bryggen, the original Hanseatic merchant area, and a UNESCO HERITAGE site.
We stayed close to the Bergen harbour and enjoyed the daily walks around the area. A major turn-off was Bergenites’ stubbornness in not accepting cash and for poor service delivery in general. Ae spent three days in Bergen which ended up being too long. The ferry trip to Flåm was spectacular!
I was very impressed by this tour. It worked very well and the pace and amount of information worked perfectly for me. Highly recommended.
I had a great time with this tour! I did it in the morning, so the city wasn't too crowded, and I enjoyed getting a sense of the central area of Bergen. The app worked great for me, even though I didn't have data, as I downloaded everything beforehand. I liked that it was basically handsfree, so I could just walk and enjoy. A few times I got a bit off track, but that was mostly my fault because I was bad at following directions. I was always able to get back to the tour easily. I liked the history and anecdotes that were included, especially the descriptions of various statues. It took me about an hour and a half, but I took my time with it. Great experience!
Cheap and easy way to learn about this fabulous city. You can take ot at your own pace stopping along the way as you choose.
Very good value. Totally worth it. We learned a lot and we will look for other cities that it is available. I wish that it would have continued through the fish market and the tenament housing. I would have liked to know about that.
Quite a nice idea to wrap the walk up into statues and their stories, though we would love to learn more about some personalities, because not all descriptions give details about their life, work and importance. Should you want more about the history of Bergen and its hanseatic past, you need a different walk. The walk is esy to follow, understandable and I appreciated the variety of comments. Great idea to explain some parts while walking.
This is a great option if you’re interested in the architecture and sculptures of the city with some history thrown in. You can take it at your own pace and stop or divert whenever you like. No need to keep up with the leader’s pace..
Super nice tour with many interesting details and anecdotes. The guide had a very comfortable voice, and I loved the fact that I almost didn't need to look at my phone - I was told in which direction to go, and the app automatically detected when I was at the right place for the next presentation. Such a lovely way to get a quick first impression of a new city. On top of this, I was very lucky with the weather and got some great photos of beautiful Bergen along the way.
The tour was informative and entertaining. Smart idea to talk about Bergen and Norwegian history through the description of the statues in the city centre. First time I've used a narrated self guided tour.. great experience! It allows you to take it at your own pace. well worth the cost! Highly recommended
Good audio guide well documented and interesting! We learned a lot during this visit!
Tour was fun and interesting. I did the tour on my last day of a six-day trip and I still saw many new streets and buildings. Pleasant to listen to. Good to follow.
