A peaceful and luxurious resort experience We really enjoyed our stay at Shangri-La. The resort is located in one of the quieter parts of Mauritius, making it a great choice if you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing getaway rather than being close to nightlife or lots of outside attractions. The resort itself offers plenty to keep you occupied, including private islands, golf courses, beautiful outdoor pools, a very good spa, and various activities within the property. The rooms and room service were also excellent. The dining options are a real highlight, with high-quality Indian, Japanese and international restaurants, as well as a very good buffet. Since there are not many places to visit or dine around the hotel, I would definitely recommend booking at least half board — the food and restaurants inside the resort are more than good enough to make it worthwhile. Special thanks to Jann at the spa for a very nice deep tissue massage and Deepak for taking good care of our luggage at 4 AM. Also, thank you for all individually tailored complementaries and surprises in the room :)

After spending over two weeks in this s upposedly luxurious hotel, my feelings are very, very mixed. For a hotel of this caliber, the standard should be incredibly high, with no complaints, no skirmishes, and absolutely no shortcomings. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we were given a room with a connecting door. We asked at reception for two days if we could change rooms because we would hear the people in the other room, as there were only two doors separating the room. We didn't actually get an answer, as no one even got back to us with an answer. But what was shocking to us was the cleanliness of the room. What really shocked me was the cleanliness of the room. It shouldn't have been there at all. Our room was superficially cleaned, just superficially. The bathrooms, the tiles, and the shower were a complete mess. Not to mention, no one even vacuumed the carpet on the floor properly. We repeatedly complained about the cleanliness of the room. I suffer from allergies, unfortunately, and my asthma became very ill. My allergies worsened, my eyesight was constricted, I had a runny nose, and I developed an ear infection due to the dirt in the room. What was terrifying was that despite cleaning the room, my symptoms persisted. Eventually, I stripped all the bedding myself. The pillows we slept on were in a disgusting state; they only had clean pillowcases on them, practically throwing them away. The duvet was covered in stains, and the mattress we slept on was dirty and covered in blood or other disgusting goo. Everything was replaced, but only after eight days. Unfortunately, the bad taste remained. A hotel of this standard should not allow itself to fail to properly train its staff and ensure the mattresses, pillows, and duvets in the rooms are replaced. This is unacceptable! I've stayed in many hotels of various categories this year, and even the three-star hotel I stayed in wasn't as filthy as a luxury five-star hotel. If such a hotel is not properly managed, there is no properly trained staff, unfortunately, there will be shortcomings all the time. As a guest, I had to ask for the room to be cleaned properly. For me, it is truly a tragedy in a five-star hotel, the sheets are changed every three or four days, and it is also a tragedy. All I can say is that Coco's restaurant is great. Great service from morning to night, brilliant people. And the reception staff is completely disinterested in the guests, everyone is treated like just another customer leaving only
Overall review: 4* Firstly - the Shangri-La in Mauritius is a lovely resort. Spacious rooms, idyllic balcony views, mouth-watering food selection and friendly staff. You should absolutely consider it for your next holiday to Mauritius. The rooms in particular are stunning; waking up to the Shangri-La private beach on your doorstep and a world-class breakfast buffet awaiting you is truly one of the pleasures of life. On top of that - the gym ranks among the best hotel gyms I’ve visited; the activity selection for kids (and adults) is excellent. A special shout-out to the staff members who made our trip particularly memorable: Lindlay on the concierge desk - always smiling, full of energy and always prepared to drop everything he’s doing to make your needs a priority Parwez at the front of the hotel - very friendly and a great conversationalist who can offer you all the Mauritius travel and excursion advice you need Hans on the concierge desk - service with a smile and will make sure you get to where you need to go on time without delay Jauhan on Ile Mangénie - generous and thoughtful and will make sure all your needs are catered to Ponnen in Coco’s Beach House - goes out of his way to cater to any special requests and will make sure you leave every meal full and smiling They are all excellent ambassadors of the Shangri-La brand; there are so many others that I also could have mentioned. There are however some minor teething issues with the hotel which - if resolved - could turn our “very good” holiday into a “perfect” holiday: (i) Wi-Fi quality - the hotel advertises fast Wi-Fi however we had some issues maintaining a strong connection from our room - particularly for group video calls. To their credit, the hotel staff made every attempt to help us resolve this - however their efforts were ultimately fruitless. I’m prepared to believe it may just have been our room/section of the hotel but the issue was more challenging at peak times and I would expect this to not be an issue at 5* hotel brands (ii) Massage therapists - they are absolutely lovely and make every effort to ensure your needs are catered to. However the massage therapists I tried (for transparency, I tried two) are trained differently to, for example, therapists in Thailand or Asia more broadly - and are not as effective in applying pressure to knead knots and relax tight tissues. For a light pressure relaxation their massages are more than fine. Once again the staff are fantastic and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable (iii) Miscellaneous furnishings - I’m being picky here (the hotel is modern and well-furnished) but there are a handful of features that could do with an upgrade - among them the dated coir doormats and the room door handles which are stiff and fiddly Overall - thank you to a brilliant team for a lovely stay
I stayed at Le Touessrok twice and had an excellent experience on both occasions. The level of service throughout the resort is consistently outstanding. The buffet at TSK is impressively diverse while maintaining a very high standard. During one of my stays, a Lebanese chef prepared steaks à la minute to absolute perfection — a particularly commendable performance. Nicole also deserves special recognition for her kindness, attentiveness, and for constantly making sure that everything was going well. During my most recent stay, Executive Chef Luca was equally approachable and took the time to personally check whether the culinary standards were meeting my expectations. This personal attention was very much appreciated. The recreational facilities are equally impressive. Dominique, the archery instructor, was extremely kind and provided an excellent introduction to the discipline. The team at the gym is also very approachable, welcoming, and friendly. The beach and swimming pools are superb, and the range of activities offered by the boathouse adds greatly to the overall experience. A trip to Îlot Mangénie is always a must, although swimming can sometimes be challenging because of the presence of sea urchins. Overall, Le Touessrok continues to deliver a truly memorable experience. I would absolutely recommend the resort and very much look forward to returning.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent stay at Shangri-La Le Touessrok! The resort is stunning, with beautiful beaches, luxurious rooms, and breathtaking ocean views. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome throughout our stay. The food was delicious, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. A special thank you to Brinda from Housekeeping for keeping our rooms spotless and beautifully maintained throughout our stay. We’d also like to thank Devika for her kindness and for always helping us with tea and coffee at breakfast. A big thank you as well to Varsha at Saffron, who was always smiling and made every visit even more enjoyable with her warm and welcoming attitude. A truly memorable experience, and we would definitely return. Highly recommended!
