The hotel experience was extremely disappointing, and I would strongly advise others not to stay here. The air conditioning does not work, leaving the room uncomfortably hot. On top of that, the noise insulation is very poor—you can hear everything from outside, making it impossible to rest properly. At check-in, I specifically asked for a quiet room, and the receptionist told me that all rooms are the same. However, I was then placed directly in front of the bar, where the music is loud and it is impossible to sleep. I made specific requests upon my arrival, none of which were accommodated. There is no room service available, not even for basic necessities like water. After a long flight, I called to request water and was told to go and get it myself at the bar, which is unacceptable for any hotel standard. Despite explaining my situation as a cabin crew member with an operational flight the next day, the staff made no effort to assist me. They did not offer to change my room, did not apologize, and showed no willingness to improve the situation. I checked in late at 10:30 pm and will be leaving at 6:30 am, yet even within this short stay, neither the staff nor the manager made any effort to address the issues or provide even a basic apology. Neither the manager nor the staff apologized or tried to find any solution for me—they simply stared back at me without saying a word. To make matters worse, the room had a very unpleasant smell, as if it had been closed and unused for a long time. Additionally, charging devices is very inconvenient—the power outlet inside the closet is poorly designed, with a hole cut in the back that makes it nearly impossible to use a charger with an adapter properly. Overall, this has been a very frustrating and disappointing stay.

The location is only postive I can find about this place! It was a last minute booking and I regret not reading the comments earlier. Soon after arrival I experienced a lot of what was described by others! Stayed there for two nights and right from the beginning the staff was unfriendly and not helpful. I had to carry most of my bags as the unwelcoming baggage handler only took one small carry-on luggage. The disappointment continued in the room which looked old, not well-maintained and had a bad smell! Amenties were lacking, not even a bottle of water or shower gel. The aircon looked was loud and looked like it had not been serviced in a while, the TV was not turning on as the batteries were too old. The room happened to be constantly noisy as not well isolated. During the afternoon it was the people partying at the public beach, at night, all the noise from the restaurant and in the early morning, the disturbing noise of the leaf blower, next to the not very discreet house-keeping staff talking rather loud. Speaking of house-keeping, they lack professionalism. One of them opened the room while I was lying on the bed, she closed it right away and started laughing with her colleague outside, commenting in Creole thinking I wouldn't understand. We later repeatedly asked them at least 3 or 4 times to do the room while were gone and even hanged the 'Please clean the room' sign. I went for a massage at the Spa, it was not the cheapest one, and all that to have a coakroach falling on my head in the middle of it! The massage therapist didn't seem phased and barely appologised! Given the lack of standards we didn't feel like eating at the restaurant so the positive was that we got to try really nice places like the Bamboo which is THE place to be in Blue bay, Na-Ked Foods for lunch, a healthy authentic alternative in a back garden where the lady makes her own bread and an exclusive, exquisite dinner at the Ferney Lodge. Bottom line: the best part of the stay was the time spent outside the hotel!
There’s pigeons everywhere on the dinning table eating on the leftover plates. No variety of food. Poor hygiene. The rooms needs renovatiom. Bad experience. The front beach hotel has sea urchins so be careful. Blue bay beach is safer and warm water to swim. I wouldn’t recommend it.
First arrived ground floor room 21 tired and maintenance to room needs up keep . Toilet door is not a full door it’s like a saloon door which whether ur a couple or not you need privacy . Bulbs flashing cracked toilet and the room in general dull only good thing it’s facing a lovely ocean . Requested a move which was done immediately and no hassle overlooking pool and to be fair satisfactory bright clean and a full door on toilet but may I say design of toilet cubicle to small and I’m not a large build . Air con needing maintaining better . Dirty and filter full of fluff /dirt blowing warm air due to the fact I used to work in a hotel and maintain air conditioning I cleaned our rooms filters myself. The food I can clearly say was very good most nights and pleased with meals staff over meal times good . Bar staff need to smile more they are so miserable and I feel it brings the place down . More cleanliness needed on and around pool as things like broken hair clips left in stone edging for two days and straws , overall the money you pay to stay here it should not be looking tired glasses on top shelf of centre bar not cleaned at all for over a week whether display purposes or not ,no cleaning of sun loungers . Now entertainment was too loud 9.30 to 11 blasting music and karaoke and I know some people complained to have it turned down. The snorkelling which is free gave my wife goggles but no snorkel and when asked he said he had one on boat so my wife walked to boat with others to be give a snorkel which had diesel in it which she swallowed some this was reported to main reception and dealt with and she had to sit on boat till it brought people back . The resort is mainly French orientated in a nutshell would we come back no it needs a revamp and staff need retraining we pay a lot of money to come here .
Disastrous Stay at Peninsula Bay: Avoid This Hotel! My family and I had a truly awful experience at Peninsula Bay, the worst hotel we've encountered in Mauritius. Our frustrations began upon arrival: no available parking despite waiting in line, and no welcome cocktail. This set the tone for a disappointing stay. We booked two rooms for two nights. Disappointingly, one room had cockroaches and another had rats! Even the restaurant has cockroaches. While they eventually offered a room change, we had to wait until the next evening, significantly disrupting our vacation. The cramped rooms provided little comfort, especially the one booked for three people. The tiny, shared bathroom offered zero privacy, making it feel more like a brothel than a hotel room. To add insult to injury, the minibar was empty. On top of that, the all-inclusive package wasn't fully honored. When we requested a specific drink listed on the menu, the staff refused to serve it. Their solution was to call the accounts manager who treated us with utter disrespect, turning his back and walking away mid-conversation. This level of unprofessionalism is unheard of in any reputable hotel. Even basic amenities were lacking. Tea time was delayed and offered limited options, and on our first night, the buffet served spoiled noodles that were only removed after most guests had already finished their dinner. If you're seeking a pleasant 3-star experience in Mauritius, look elsewhere. There are countless far better options available. Stay away from Peninsula Bay unless you want your vacation marred by frustration and disappointment.
