We enjoyed our day at Goff’s Caye, our guide and the captain were very good and very accommodating. The female supervisor and the female accompanying our group not so much so! We had to wait for over an hour in stifling heat with no facilities on the dock, we drank all our water and we asked if we could purchase more, we were told no (even though it states water is included). We were given no information why we had to wait, the organisation is terrible! In the end my daughter asked when we were going as we were sat in the heat with no hydration and my grandaughter had a heart condition. They reluctantly agreed for the trip to go ahead. We loved our time on the island and the snorkelling guide was brilliant. Our group were all ready to go back, we were just sat around waiting. When we approached the female employee to ask when we were going back she rudely announced you moaned because you wanted to get here now you are moaning because you want to go back! At the time she was sat there eating her free lunch and drinking whilst the whole party were there waiting to go back. She was extremely rude. What her role was I don’t know, she accompanied our group but sat in the shelter the whole time. On the return trip she didn’t interact with the guests, I fact she fell asleep! We enjoyed our time at Goffs Caye and are grateful for the interaction from the guide and the captain, but it was tainted because of the actions of the female staff.
Know the time difference if you're cruise stays on ship time versus local time. This is critical to avoid long and confusing wait times at the port. The boat to leave for Goffs Caye leaves around 9 am local time. Belize has no cruise port so you have to tender in to the port. Viator tells you to take the earliest tender possible and that you have 1 hour to get there. Our ship first tender was at 8am ship time but it was really 6 am local time. When we arrived at port, no one was at the port from Splash tours yet. When the guy showed up he had no idea the ship came in that early. Was this fault but I blame local management for not knowing these details. We waited 2.5 hours with so much confusion on where to go and who to go with it was very disappointing and frustrating. There were other people with us who had different trips that either got canceled or moved to another trip because they didn’t have enough time to do it. Our crew was great and it wasn’t their fault. I completely blame the management for the lack of communication. They put their employees in a terrible situation. With no cruise port in believe I would stay away from excursions off ship. My opinion only so go at your own risk. Goffs Caye looks like it would be a great trip if we got our full time there with no issues wasting 2.5 hours sitting at the port and then dock to get on the boat.
The water was amazing, the snorkeling wonderful but be prepared to wait a long time at the meeting place. We were instructed to be on the first tender leaving the ship, and despite doing so, we waited over an hour to depart for the cay. The lady who checked us in was extremely rude and her poor attitude continued for the rest of the day. Jamal, the young man who escorted the snorkeling was friendly and helpful. Towards the end of the day we decided as a group to leave a little early mainly because there was a two year old with one of the families, she was getting uncomfortably hot and they had run out of water. Finally the only thing available to sit on was picnic tables, no loung chairs. Overall the excursion was not worth the long wait.
The island was beautiful and two of the three guides were very nice and informative but I’m giving it three stars because the female staff was terrible. She came off very rude, like she didn’t want to be there and I honestly don’t know why she was. She did absolutely nothing and had a terrible attitude. The company should remove her to prevent more low ratings.
Exciting boat ride to a secluded, gorgeous island. Wear sandals and sunscreen. Loved the natural aspect of this; didn’t feel overly “touristy”.
High winds & rough seas turned this into a rough boat ride & minimized snorkel trip for the same price & same length of time.
Trip was cancelled due to not enough people going. But we're offered a full refund or a snorkeling trip to Caulker Caye. We took the snorkeling. Had a blast, at the reef and after went to another spot and swam with sharks and manta rays. Staff at Spash Wave tours is well trained and a lot of fun. There was a guy struggling in the water and was gonna give up but they helped him along and you could see he had a lot of fun. After the swimming with sharks we went to Caulker Caye had a bite to eat and before heading back, stopped to feed so fish. We stayed at the Ramada so they pick us up and gave us a ride back to the hotel. Thanks so much.
2nd time we booked and 2nd time it was cancelled. Now keep an open mind and they offered a refund or the snorkeling trip to Caulker Caye. We asked if we could just hang on the island. They accommodated. We had a blast. The boat captain and staff are so friendly and helpful. We had about 3.5 hrs on the island. And one of the snorkeling instructors told us to go to Iguana Reef. It was a free beach. And you can get snacks and drinks. We swam sat on the beach and latter got something to eat before meeting back with the group and rode back to Belize City. We stayed at the Ramada so they even picked us up in the morning and dropped us back at the hotel. We would definitely do this again. And I think if you keep an open mind to the fact, if there is not enough people to go to Goffs Caye that Spash Wave Tours will work with you and make your day enjoyable. Thanks again to all the staff.
Booked this on a whim and so glad we did. The boat ride there and back was beautiful but can't compare to the island! Gorgeous clear water and white sand. The crew took great care of us. We went snorkeling from the shore because of water/wind conditions but Jamal made sure we got a fantastic experience. We even got to see a manatee while in the water! 😍 The island is well kept and clean. Lots of locals out the day we went and everyone was great. We would absolutely do this again.
I think we just purchased the wrong snorkel package. We follow the directions to be on the first tender off the ship and sat at their dock in the sun for over an hour waiting for a boat to pick us up. This was really frustrating because there were only eight total people in our tour and they were all there on time. Two large groups of snorkelers with different colored wristbands, and several other tours left before us. When our boat finally arrived we took a 30 minute motor boat ride out to a tiny little Island. When we finally got to the island we we're told we had less than 2 hours before we would have to leave. I had to ask if there was snorkel equipment or drinking water, which was in a plastic pouch, hard to open and tasted like plastic. They had a bathroom, but no running water even to wash hands, but what can you expect from a little uninhabited islands? If you like the idea of going to a tiny island in the middle of nowhere to just sit in the sand or look for big conch shells, then this would be a good tour for you. They have three dogs that live on the island that are very friendly, but you have to watch your step for poop. It might be a good place for kids who have never snorkeled before, but I personally didn't think there was much to see. The water is beautiful and picturesque and on one side there was an area to swim. They had grilled fish or chicken for purchase, but did not take credit cards. We were only allowed to snorkel on the sandy turquoise areas, not by the reefs where the fish were. Another company had a snorkel group that swam to the island from their boat and they swam all over in the reefs and saw cool things, I heard even a manatee! That company, Eco tours, appear to be cooking food for their own group and also allowed people to buy food that was for sale on the island with a credit card and pay back at their dock.
The directions were very clear to be off the ship ASAP. We arrived at the meeting point by 9:00 am. A group of 10 0f us and 6 others. We waited for 1 1/2 hour for 2 others. We all told the woman in charge that we were going to leave and she finally got us in the boat for the trip over. FYI, the staff on the boat and island were exceptional.
We had an absolutely amazing experience with Splash Wave Tours during our visit to Goff’s Caye in Belize! From start to finish, everything was seamless, professional, and incredibly enjoyable. The team was friendly, welcoming, and made sure we felt comfortable the entire time. They were very organized and knowledgeable about the area, and you could tell they genuinely care about giving guests a great experience. The boat ride was smooth, and the views along the way were stunning. Once we arrived at Goff’s Caye, it was like stepping into paradise, crystal clear water, soft white sand, and a relaxed, beautiful atmosphere. Splash Wave Tours made the experience even better by handling all the details so we could just relax and enjoy the day. Whether it was snorkeling, exploring the island, or just soaking up the sun, everything was perfect. If you’re planning a trip to Belize, I highly recommend booking with Splash Wave Tours. Thank you Tiffara, Patrick,Jamal, and Lester aka grill master for an unforgettable adventure. Can't wait to return!!
Great excursion. Be sure to bring cash as the island has great food and drink options available, but they don't take other forms of payment. Cash is king here. LOL We loved this excursion and would do it again when in Belize. Captain Mark, Safara, and Jamal were great hosts/guides.
Bring cash and get the lobster don't forget your towel and sun screen the snorkeling was wonderful. The crew was great
We purchased tickets through Viator for this excursion and after arriving at the meeting place the excursion was cancelled hours after arriving. The reasoning was that not enough people from the "cruise ship showed up". Customers are obligated to pay if not cancelled without a 24 hour notice so they did get tneir money. The company, Splash Wave Tours, has a lengthy history of cancelling excursions at the last minute by using that same excuse time after time. Sadly both Tripadvisor and Viator still allows this company to advertise on its websites. I was contacted by Viator to leave a review of our experience on it's website but the review option was suspiciously removed. It appears it was removed because I recieved a refund.
Unfortunately it's was not advised that would not be Goffs caye! Still 2 Stars, because the trip the took me instead Was good. But my Intention was to Goffs caye!!!
Our original excursion to Goffs Caye was cancelled once we got to the excursion because there was only two people. We were never contacted however they offered a different excursion which we accepted however that too was cancelled because only 4 people showed up (including us) so that also was cancelled. Four hours of waiting for NOTHING.
We booked this for a cruise excursion. We rushed off the boat and had to wait around for awhile. This company seems to organize many different tours/ excursions. We enjoyed Geoff’s Cay. We took a boat ride to the island (about 25 minutes) and got to hang out there for several hours. There’s a little restaurant on the island, the lobster is delicious and still am thinking about it. You have to pay for beach chairs and need to bring your own towel. The staff took us snorkeling in the ocean which was fun even with the water a little choppy. The island also had island dogs which were friendly. We enjoyed playing fetch with a coconut. It’s a nice day trip and I had a lot of fun. The staff made sure to have us back in time for the tender back to the ship. I would recommend.
No lunch, no rum punch. Didn’t go to the island that was represented. But did go to a nice laid-back island Caye Caulty.. Jamal m, the host was good, a good day but wud not return.
The island is very small, but beautiful. The food was great, but they ran out. Splash Wave Tours is who took us out to the island. Snorkeling was canceled due to rough water, which is understandable. They advertise fruit and rum punch. They had one pineapple for approximately 20 of us. They also ran out of rum punch. The “bottled” water was in small bags, not bottles. Splash Wave Tours did pick us up at the port, but once we returned from the excursion, we were told we had to walk back. It was only a short 5-10 minute walk, but it would’ve been nice to know ahead of time. We had a few elderly people in the group. Overall, the water and scenery were beautiful, but I do not recommend this excursion due to the vendor used to take us.
I haven't even started this tour and I don't recommend it. 8 have never had a bad experience with a Viator contracted company for years, until now. The tour operator "highly encouraged" us to get on the first tender because we were to leave at 8am. We have now been waiting around on a dock for almost 1 1/2 hours, no bathroom, not enough chairs and a bunch of people and NO communication whatsoever. We have no idea when we're leaving for our tour. This is so frustrating I do not recommend booking this. Hopefully we'll get to the island before it's time to turn around and head back Very disappointed.
They cancelled our trip and didn’t tell us until we were already walked down to the pier. They said it was because we were the only 2 booked. We requested a refund from Viator and had to book with another excursion in port. Goff’s is beautiful and the Eco Tours group provided great service.
Terrible!! Met and picked up in a dirty old car. Could only take 4 at a time. Very unprofessional. Old small boat took 16 people to an island with no beach chairs and a scary pier where we had to be lifted off the boat. We got soaked traveling to the island by boat spray due to the driver going so fast. Not a fun trip. Snacks ere a cut watermelon and chips from a bag and salsa from a can. Horrible experience
The trip itself was very good. The island was marvelous. The logistics regarding meeting point in the morning and the meeting time was not clear in the original reservation. So it is recommended to reach and ask for clarification. It is good to keep in mind that if you travel with small children , be mindful that would have to wait probably like an hour and half before the boats departs to the island. I love the trip but wish it was more clear about the wait and where to meet. The crew was exceptional. Really helpful. I recommend to the travelers to be open to order food at the island like grill fish and lobster. Also keep in mind Belize in its entirety its a protected country. Dont take anything from the corrals with you also don’t destroy anything. Besides that enjoy your trip and bring plenty od water and layers for protection from the sun.
They canceled our trip and did not tell us until we were at the pickup point. I would not recommend booking in advance or using this guide company.
Goffs Caye was great! However.... The communication from the tour fascillitator was non existent! That was very frustrating for us and all the other folks that waited there at the pier for an hour before anything started happening. The boat crew seemed to be individuals that the tour fascillitator hires. They were fantastic and very helpful once we go to that point where they took over. I would reccommend Goff's Caye, but not with this tour fascillitator (Splash Wave Tours) . Find a different tour group.
Our excursion started off slow as we waited about 1-1/2 hours at the dock to travel to Goff's Caye. The Details said that we should arrive as early as possibe...so we followed instructions. Once we finally left for the island, the rest of the day was great. As we approached the island after about a 25 minute boat ride, we realized that this was a unique experience. We loved the three dogs running around the island toting coconuts while having a great time playing in the surf and and sand. We especially enjoyed snorkeling with Jamaal who was a great guide. He explained everything very clearly and then took the time to show everyone how to properly use their equipment. He even took care to tow several of the weaker swimmers who were not adept using the fins, masks, and snorkels. We were all grateful to have his help. In addition, he was very knowledgeable about Belize and answered all of our questions. The water was pretty choppy on the way back, but the boat driver (Mark...I think) did his best to minimize the boat bouncing up and down. Our entire party of 10 had a great day and would highly recommend this adventure.
Unfortunately, the tour operator informed us that the tour was not occurring because some people cancelled last minute. This was extremely inconvenient. They informed us when we were already at the terminal for pickup. There was terrible communication, only got a response the day before after reaching out on WhatsApp but they didn’t respond through TripAdvisor. We were told we’d receive a refund for the tickets but no refund on the taxi that had to be called to drop us off. I want to reiterate we were told about the tour being cancelled at the exact time we arrived so it was upsetting to be informed at the very last minute. It would’ve been helpful if we were told beforehand before paying for the taxi. It felt like a waste of our time and money. Very upsetting!!!
We had just arrived and the lady calls us to cancel last minute. Literally terrible company, terrible communication. Very annoying experience.
Such an awesome experience going to a private like island snorkeling , beaching and even eating lunch of Freshly caught seafood and drinks . The attendants were also so helpful and knew so much about the island . Highly recommended this excursion
This was the epitome of paradise. The private island, beautiful beaches and coral reef, delicious food and nice staff made this my favorite excursion. Highly recommend. Limited people made it most enjoyable.
We went to this very small private island. Most went off to do the snorkeling. I brought my own gear and snorkel around the beach. Water was wonderfully clear. We loved it. We bought lobster, chicken and ribs from the BBQ pit. All is well. This is a must do activity.
Unfortunately we didn’t get to Goff!s Caye because they need a minimum amount of people. We ended up going to Caye Caulker & snorkelled. Captain Mark, his son Junior, Jose & the female snorkelling guide were awesome. It was definitely the experience of a lifetime. We saw do many different fish & different types of coral, nurse sharks, sting rays. Absolutely fabulous! I wasn’t going to get off the boat but I did & happy I did. It was mind blowing. I was very nervous, I can swim but have never snorkelled & Jose stayed with me the whole time & I can’t believe how incredible it was. I would definitely do it again.
We were stunned by the natural beauty everywhere, the water, the port, the people all of it just beautiful. The captain and crew that took care of us was so kind. Our snorkeling guide was amazing, he taught us a lot about the area and was extremely knowledgeable. Snorkeling around the reef was absolutely gorgeous. The bonus was the dogs that live with the crew, they were so cute and funny playing fetch with coconuts and splashing in the water! I would come back a million times if I could. I recommend this experience to anyone with a soul.
I would always give a 5 star for goffs caye. This was my second time going and it is the most beautiful serene little island with amazing crystal clear water and a beautiful coral reef surrounding it. Went today with our guide Jamal and the captain and crew were great!! Jamal was awesome he guided the snorkeling and was super patient and friendly and went way out of his way to show us how to snorkel safely and efficiently he kept diving down and bringing up conchs and star fish and black and White Sea urchins. He explained the names and habits of many of the fish we saw. Super great tour guide and went above and beyond from other guides I have had in the past. This was my second trip to Goffs Caye. I would suggest definitely bringing drinks and sunscreen and a towel, they make some rum punch and have waters for you and also had sodas and beers and mixed drinks for sale as well as a guy grilling some chicken and spiney lobsters so bring some cash. It was 30$ for a lobster plate that had 3 lobster tails and some rice and beans, Cole slaw, and corn. Great deal!!! I would highly recommend to everyone. If you have trouble walking or climbing up and down into a boat it may not be the trip for you though. Also they stopped and we watched dolphins and sea turtles on the short boat ride to and from the island
The process to get to the excursion was super easy. Nelson and his wife were phenomenal snorkeling guides. We saw a lot of fish and had so much fun. After we hung out on the beach which is immaculately beautiful and crystal clear water. The lobster, ribs, and chicken we had were better then any food we had on our ship. They made sure we were on time and it was a wonderful experience. This is great for all ages!!
We booked this tour via Costco Travel. (Belize Beach and City Tour) I almost hate to write this because there were several kind and competent employees who clearly took pride in their work—but unfortunately, the rude and dismissive treatment I experienced from one employee and a supervisor is something I cannot ignore. We encountered an employee and a supervisor that were blatantly rude and unprofessional. They showed no interest in assisting customers and were completely unwilling to answer even basic questions. Once we arrived in Belize, the first person that we encountered from this company was very rude. He was the person that is assigned to ensuring that you get on the van to get to the dock. He did not want us to ask any questions, unfortunately I did not get his name. Once we got to the dock the second person was Marjorie who I was told is a supervisor. She was extremely rude to another customer. She also did not want to answer any questions. When a customer simply waited to be informed of the next steps, the employee coldly stated, “That’s not my job,” instead of offering any assistance or direction. SplashWave really needs to train their employees and supervisors. Unfortunately I would not spend my money with this company. There are several other companies to choose from. The attitude from both staff members was dismissive and disrespectful. It appears that customer service is not a priority here, and that is completely unacceptable. I do not recommend this company to anyone expecting courteous service. On the other hand Goff Cave is stunning. I would certainly visit but I would use another tour company.
We booked this excursion well in advance, were emailed a receipt of paymnet and received a confirmation email the day prior to the excursion confirming. On the day of the excursion we hustled off the ship via tender and followed the instructions to meet up with the tour company. We waited for 30-40 mins there at the meeting spot and were told a white van would be coming to pick us up. Then we were told we were going to walk down to a cafe to wait, but instead were taken to the start of a pier to check in with a woman (with no tour company shirt or signage). The tour guy left us at that point. As we were checking in, we were told that our excursion was canceled due to low enrollment and that we could join another tour if we wanted to. We waited for another 30 mins and were then moved to the middle of the pier to wait an additional 30+ mins. At this point, we decided that with the travel time to/from the excursion and the time frame to get back onto the ship, that it was not worth our time to join the other tour. We decided to get back to the port, board the tender and board our ship. I then emailed Viator for a refund, which we are receiving. This was incredibly disappointing and I will never book through Viator again. For ports like this, book through your cruise line directly.
Confirm with vendor, not 3rd party! Our initial had been canceled, unbeknownst to us. The actual vendor did offer an alternate, at no additional cost.
We had the best day of our cruise at Goffs Caye! It was beautiful and our tour guides were incredible!! I highly recommend this excursion!!
Goff’s Caye was incredibly beautiful. One of our top places we’ve ever visited. Getting through Belize city port terminal was a bit of a cluster and the tour company Viator scheduled us through was very unorganized but once we got to Goff’s Caye it was worth it. I highly recommend eating lunch on the beach from the local’s who are grilling there.
We use Splashwaves tours. I originally booked Goff‘s Cay for the day, but my daughter had an allergic reaction early in the morning. I wanted to switch to something different so we could stay in the city just in case she got worse. They let us switch to Kukumba Beach but made us pay to get in which was another $50. My original booking cost more so they should’ve just switch them and everybody would’ve been happy. Dennis was my driver for the day and was great, but even he was disappointed when I told him the story.
We waited for 2 hours to load the boat to head to the island. All because we were waiting for another group. They refused to take us out and we didn’t get to spend anywhere near the 4 hours we paid for. Never again will we book through this.
Great excursion for a fun day off our ship. 1/2 hour ride to the island then a beautiful day on the most beautiful private island Made for one of the best days the family has on our cruise
First, pay attention to your cruise ship time zone times because there is a discrepancy between what times are. This will be for ALLLL and Any excursion you choose. Other than that be prepared to have your mind blown By this beautiful small island. We went during spring break at the end of March so the perfect weather played a big role on how the trip went. If you go during the summer, then you will probably have a good chance of a thunderstorm or two rolling in. But the cruise tour was amazing and I highly recommend anyone going to this destination.
This company is very poor with communication. After booking, I contacted them as requested to arrange the time we tendered off the ship. I messaged them via viator and both numbers listed on the website multiple times. I never received a response. On the day of the excursion we showed up and there was another lady waiting for the same company. A person from a different company saw us waiting for awhile and offered to call. They answered and found my reservation but still never responded or showed. I don't recommend them.
I have always wanted to go to Belize and was excited when this cruise I was having a port day in Belize. I chose to go to Goff's Cay to spend the day. This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. We tendered in from the ship to the mainland to meet up with the tour to Goff's Cay. The only negative I can say is that I booked this excursion direct in advance and the paperwork said to meet up at 9 as the boat was leaving at 9:30. Knowing this I got up extra early and rushed through breakfast to get on an early tender only to find out once I was at the port that we needed to meet at 10 and we were leaving at 10;30. If that was the case it would have been nice to know so I could have enjoyed my morning a bit more without rushing. We left via boat for Goff's Cay around 10:30 and the boat ride there takes about 1/2 hour. Claudius was our guide and he was great. He was so informative telling us all about Belize and answered any questions anyone had. We were in good hands with Claudius and the rest of the crew. We got to the island and those who didn't want to snorkel just got off the boat and those of us who wanted to had about 15 minutes before we left to go out snorkelling. Claudius was our snorkeling guide. He took us out on the boat to the reef not far from the island. We didn't see too many fish but the reefs had beautiful coral and it was still worth the time spent. We had about 45 minutes for the snorkel portion of the day and then back to the island. The island is a little over 1 acre, so it is very small but oh so beautiful. There is a sand bar that extends right out into the water, the sand is so soft and the water so blue and clear. You could order lunch they were cooking up right there. 3 dogs live on the island and they are just the cutest things. When we first pulled up to the dock they came running as they love people. We were told one of the dogs finds coconuts and loves to have you throw them and he retrieved them, this was so true, he found a coconut and played fetch with anyone who would trhow it for him. Another of the dogs loves to swim, it was fun watching him swim around in the water. Claudius was so personable and made the day so nice. We spent a few hours on the island and they brought us back to Belize with plenty of time to make it back to tender back to the ship. If in Belize again I would definitely do this excursion again.
Did not get to go because there weren’t enough people signed up! 😞 We were very disappointed! Did something else.
Great Experience, Splash Wave Tours were very good. We used them instead of the cruise excursion which was expensive. The morning pickup time was unclearly so we made sure we got to the pickup point early around 8:30am
