Charlie's Cave Tubing gave us a wonderful experience going Ziplining, Cave Tubing, and to Altun Ha. Our guide, Chapo, was very knowledgeable, courteous and accommodating. The ziplining was amazing, the cave tubing was super cool, and Altun Ha was awe inspiring. Chapo arranged everything - he drove us in a comfortable vehicle and arranged the tickets with the Zipline, Cave Tubing, and Altun Ha all while sharing interesting stories about local and ancestral culture. I highly recommend.
This was a great tour. Chapo was our guide, and because it was small, we saw a historic pottery-offering site we would have missed with a larger group. He kept us away from the crowds, the caves were amazing, and I loved seeing the nature and wildlife. it was relaxing, adventurous and educational. I would recommend this 100%
Highly recommend this tour. Was easy and smooth. The guide Abner was awesome and informative. Had a 56 year old and an 11 year old, and everyone was safe and enjoyed themselves!! Be prepared for rain.
This tour was a pleasant surprise! Our guide, Abner, was knowledgeable about the island and made sure we enjoyed our time. We appreciated our small group (just our family of 4 and another family of 3). We saw others carrying their own tube hiking towards the cave, while this tour already had the tubes waiting at the cave (choose this tour just for that alone!). The cave tubing was a lot of fun but the river tubing (after we got out of the cave)- think: lazy river, but with spectacular views of the rainforest!!! We loved this part even more! Highly recommend!
This was fantastic and fun Tour guide, Canton, was great. The jungle trek was a little difficult because we had to carry our tube for about a mile, but we managed.
“Shorty” was a wonderful guide for us throughout the entire excursion. Despite Belize’s traffic being horrendous (something that nobody has control over), he got us back to the tender port safely and on time! The cave itself was so beautiful and you could tell that he was very experienced in cave tubing/guiding. The only thing I would mention is don’t forget your waterproof phone pouch (like I did) if you want ANY pictures! Safe travels!
We chose this excursion because it worked with our cruise schedule. We were hoping for a smaller group than the typical cruise excursion, and got our wish as we were the only two people on the tour. It was about a 45 minutes drive to the caves, our guide Chap was very informative the entire trip. On the walk to the caves he pointed out several animals and plants and continued teaching us about them. We had to cross a couple streams, each person carrying their tube. It took about 15 minutes. Once inside the caves he pointed out several rock formations and animals, and shared some Mayan history about the caves. After the tour we stopped at a local restaurant for lunch. It was a good typical local meal: bone in chicken pieces, rice with beans mixed in, salad. Highly recommend this tour!
Our guide was super and the tube experience was out of this world but ……….. There was a lot of waiting at the port for other guests at the port due to it being a tender operation. You do need to queue early to get of your ship. We booked tube plus lunch but the guide kept mentioning a zip line. As we had not booked zip line we were taken to this activity and had to wait around for over an hour whilst other guests completed this activity. I booked a 4 hour 30 min activity that ended up being 6 hours 30 min which was unacceptable. The lunch was lovely. There was a long walk to start the tubing so be prepared. You have to carry your own tube this distance or get provider to carry tube for $5. Water shoes can be hired for $3.
Bring a towel and change of clothes. There is a changing area. Also closed sandals are good not flip flops. There is about a one mile walk to where you get into the tubes. You do get wet. Great experience and beautiful scenery.
It was a lot of fun! The port was chaotic. We were on the star princess and the tender process was quite time consuming. When I made my reservation I put our arrival time as 8 am as listed on my itinerary and I was on the first tender but the loading process was quite long and we didn’t arrive into terminal 2 until 920 ish. We did not see anyone with blue Superman shirts but when asked they found our contact and we were walked down to a pickup spot. We had to wait for others but were on our way by 10. Our guide was very informative and we really enjoyed tubing through the cave. The lunch was very good. Be sure to bring water shoes and a waterproof pouch for your phone: we were back in port by 4 pm. Great tour!
tubing through the caves was great - better way to see than kayaking. Be prepared to forge rivers and hike for .8 mile - but worth it.
We were recommended this company from our hotel Lamanai Landing and grateful they did. Wonderful, safe vehicles. Patiently answered our questions and helped us see animals at the Zoo (more like a sanctuary). Chap was our transfer and guide and he made our trip memorable. Definitely check them out and use. Their prices were also fair and provided value. We want to come back and do more with them.
Thankyou Charlie and Chap for saving us yesterday - our driver did not show up and Charlie literally rescued us from being stranded. We had planned a tour from Orange Walk to San Ignacio going to the zoo and baboon sanctuary - Chap took us to all of our destinations and provided excellent information. I’m not sure where to post this as it was not a tubing adventure!! We really appreciate your professional and wonderful service!! 10/5 service!! Thankyou
AMAZING!!! Wish I could give more stars! Chap, our guide was awesome! He was ridiculously knowledgeable about everything from Mayan history to all the local plant and animal life in detail. He picked us up right from the water taxi exit and took care of us every step along the way. He timed everything perfectly to avoid all of the cruise excursion crowds and totally individualized our cave tubing experience to take us to a hidden pool for swimming. Hands down, Chap’s tour was my favorite part of our trip, which was amazing to begin with. Would highly recommend!!! 10/10
We had a great experience! Jonathan was such a great tour guide and we loved the experience. The cave tubing was such fun and was so great to learn about it all. Everyone was super friendly. I would highly recommend this tour.
Beautiful walk through a part of the rain forest with no need to carry the tube and the tubing experience itself was amazing!
A wonderful day! Our guide Nelson was amazing and we enjoyed the whole experience! Would do it again!
The excursion itself was so much fun. Nelson was an excellent guide and made the entire day very interesting and enjoyable. The caves were beautiful and the lunch was delectable. Only complaint is that the communication prior to going on the excursion was very poor. We tried to reach out to Charlie regarding when we needed to meet with them with no replies at all through Viator and the email found on their website. For cruisers, since this is a tender port i would recommend getting on the first boat possible, as it seems that the guides for this excursion typically only wait until the first boat or two arrives at the port. All in all, a fantastic experience that I would recommend to anyone!
Zero communication from the organizers that this was canceled due to the caves flooding from heavy rainfall. The only reason we found out was when someone else that booked this contacted the organizer to confirm arrival time a few hours prior. We heard that they still wanted people to show up so they could sell them on a totally different excursion instead of granting refunds. It’s been days since this was supposed to happen and still no contact or automatic refund. I had to request my own refund which is still in review for approval.
This was cancelled due to high water levels and I am still waiting for a full refund .tried to contact both Viator and Charlie’s cave tubing to no avail
They will cancel on you last minute and Viator will not notify you of it Don’t go. Don’t use Viator.
This was one of my adventure excursion. I enjoyed every minute. The cave views in the cave was amazing. The hike was about 30 minutes. I made it and so can you. Do it!!!
It takes one hour from port to the destination so this tour combines tubing and zipline in one trip/group. You may need to wait up to one hour for the people to finish zipline before going back to the port after you finish your tubing. Other than this, tour guide (Abner) and driver (Chop) were both professional, so we did enjoy the whole tour.
Nelson was a great tour guide! I really appreciated his knowledge of the local flora and fauna of the area and the fact that we did not feel rushed the whole day. Charlie and Nelson also took us to a local store to buy cheap souvenirs which was nice. I was paying attention to some of the other tour guides and I’m happy to say that we picked one of the better ones. I highly reccomend these guys!
We carried our own tubes. I specifically looked for a group that carrying the tubes was not required. I was wrong! The walk wasn’t bad, the path is flat, made of stone gravel. The water was high, nothing the guides could control, but it made the tubing end too quickly. The caves and forest are beautiful. Our tour consisted of people from 2 cruise ships, the other ship had an earlier all aboard time so the trip was a bit hurried. Our tour had people who booked just the tubing (me) and people that booked both tubing and zip lining. We had to wait through the zip lining, but it was a decent spot and drinks were available for purchase.
Really fun tour! The weather was not great that day on Belize, but Nelson still managed to make this tour amazing. The caves were nice and floating on a river through these caves was great! We really enjoyed the tour and our time in Belize.
Had a great time, the cave area was more extensive than I thought and was beautiful. Chap (tour guide) was great, informative, and gave option to float independently through the caves.
This was a once in a life time experience made possible by the best tour guide in Belize! We were greeted in Belize by Charlie and team who transported us in an air conditioned van to the caves. They did everything for us! We took a shaded short hike and they had our tubes waiting for us at the water. Once in the water we were pulled the whole time while we comfortably floated in the water. The tubes have a back to them so you are very comfortable. Our group was tied together and once out of the cave we were able to swim for a bit in the beautiful water. Lunch was provided on site and the chicken and rice dish was no joke my fave meal of the whole trip! Thanks for getting us back to the port with plenty of time. We had a blast! This is the only way to do Belize!
This was an amazing experience. Nelson our tour guide was awesome. He told us all about the Belize culture and life style. We had the best time. Tubing through the caves was amazing and the lunch was delicious.
Great tour seeing new things! Did this with my niece and we both really enjoyed the floating and seeing inside the cave
Our tour guide Nelson was very knowledgeable and friendly. I learned a lot about the culture and experienced the amazing views. Great excursion
I was nervous about booking this excursion because of the distance from the port. As it turned out there was nothing for me to worry about. Charlie gave specific directions of where to meet him. We rode in an air conditioned van with passengers from another Carnival ship NELSON was our guide and gave us interesting information along the way. The hike to the cave is reasonable. We DID NOT have to carry our tubes on the hike. Charlie had already taken our tubes to the cave entrance. After the cave tour we had a nice lunch in the shade before returning to port with time to buy a few souvenirs before getting in line for the water shuttle back to the ship. Great job Charlie, Nelson and Walter!
Charlies cave tubing trip to Nohoch Che'en was wonderful. The ride to the site was about an hour, we were outfitted, then walked to the cave opening (wear your water shoes.) Our guide Chop gave us the Mayan history of the caves as we slowly drifted through the cave. It was beautiful, quiet and peaceful.
The drive from the cruise port to the river was kind of long (about an hour). The guide used this time to talk to us about the country, but still, it felt long. The experience in the river was very good and lunch was tasty.
Our tour guides were excellent! We started with a 1 mile hike to the cave crossing rivers. We were able to swim at one location to cool off. We were outfitted the life vests and helmet. Once in our rafts, our guides worked very hard to navigate us through deep water and shallow areas, including the backstroke to pull a raft of 6 tubes. They provided narration to explain the limestone formations - stalactites and stalagmites, and pointed out nesting swallows and bats. We floated by an underground waterfall where we got soaked, then a Cenote that formed the cave system. Our helmets had a light, but was not very powerful. Definitely take lotsa pictures! A traditional Belizean lunch of rice and beans with chicken and plantains, and a beverage were included.
We booked the Cave Tubing experience with Charlie’s group and had the absolute pleasure of having Jonathan as our guide for the day. He was easy to find in his Superman tee shirt as described and comfortable drove us through Belize City and out to the caves (about an hour drive). He pointed out all the highlights along the way and shared a wealth of information about Belize, its culture, lifestyle and history. He engaged with both parents and kids alike! Upon arrival at the caves, Jonathan placed our order for lunch for after our adventure making sure we had no food allergies or aversions. All expenses are included including lunch and your tubing gear. I highly recommend that you bring crocs or hard sole water shoes. Regular flimsy water shoes are really not sufficient as the rivers are super rocky. We rented crocs there for $3 per pair which was great but we definitely paid the price of a few blisters. Other yours groups had to carry their tubes through the hike to the cave launch. With Jonathan, we did not have to carry anything. We had our life jackets and helmets but picked up our tubes at the cave entrance which was awesome. The hike to the cave was about 15-20 minutes and a nice walk through the greenery. The tubing was excellent! No tight areas or unwanted wildlife spotted! Jonathan expertly guided us through the caves, pointing out the highlights. When we came to the end, we were given the chance to get out of our tubes and swim in the river. After tubing, our lunch was ready - delicious chicken, rice and beans, plantain and soda that both my kids devoured! We headed back to the port with plenty of time before our ship departed. Excellent excursion that was well worth the money. Jonathan was a blast! 100% recommend!!!!
We took the Cave tubing during our port stop in Belize. I was worried about getting back to ship in time because the last tender was leaving at 3 pm. We left promptly at 9am and the tubing location was about an hour away. The cave tubing was great and the lunch after was really good also. I like Charlie's Tour in that we were in small group, unlike the excursion offered by the cruise ship. We were able to get back to port in time and had about hour to tour the port area before boarding the tender back to the ship.
We got no experience with Charlie's Cave tubing. We had confirmation and tickets paid for, arrived on the 1st tender off our ship around 8:45am, but was no man in a Superman shirt there to meet us. A Belize tourist bureau man made a phone call to Charlie. He told us that we had cancelled and they were too far away for us to go on the excursion. Also said he had called us on the ship the day before. We had no calls nor did we have cell service. Fortunately another tour service took us in their group. But, we had to pay for another tour service. Thankfully, they were great! So I would have to give Charlie's a 0. And we want our money back from Charlie.
We rushed to get off the ship and sneaked on to the first tender with those that had booked with Carnival but then we had to wait almost an hour for others. As I had seen from other reviews, it is a very long van ride to the tubing activity. About an hour and fifteen minutes.. Then got the gear on and our group of 8 hiked the 35 min or so to the cage entrance. It was very fun and a unique opportunity. On the tubes for probably 50 min.. 10 min or so outside of the caves. Then a local style lunch and a similar long drive back. It is a long outing with the travel. Worth doing but expect a lot of travel time and tough to time everyone getting off the tender boats in Belize.
We had a great time cave tubing with Charlie's Cave Tubing. We had 14 in our group, ages 20 - 80+ years young. Captain Chino made sure we were all together on the long ride over. He was funny and shared lots of history of Belize with us. So many standout moments with this company - contrary to other tour operators, they had young men bring up our tubes for us. Instead of passing on the cost of that to customers, they pay for that to encourage young men to get into tourism. It is a bit of a trek to the mouth of the cave, and we all made it. Even though there are several tour companies at the beginning, we soon separated into our own little groups. Chris was our guide, he was great! He shared interesting information about the caves and their uses throughout history. He spoke about the Belizean tourist industry. He took good care of us. We noticed 2 or 3 times along the way, other groups getting out of the water and carrying their tubes before we had to leave, giving us a great extended tour through the caves and down the river. It ended with a delicious lunch which was included at the restaurant. Beans and rice, marinated chicken, salad, and a Fanta (or water or soda), then the long drive back, with Captain Chino entertaining us with family stories and heartfelt life advice. There was a great local artist there, Ernesto, who did beautiful carvings on slate. Many of us supported him by buying his artwork.
We booked online. You must print your tickets!!!!! You must read your ticket instructions!!!! We arrived on MSC and like all the other cruise goers, you need to be on the first boat off the cruise ship!!! Get up early to get seat assignments. Pack the night before🙂. We arrived and had no problem finding the guys in the Superman t shirts. They walked us to a pick up point the had a little snack shop. Short walk under 10 minutes. We waited for more people to arrive. Wait time about 30-45 minutes. Van arrived, we all got loaded. Total 16 people. We then began the 1 hour and 20 minutes ride to the park entrance. You can leave your belongings in the van. We got suited up and followed our tour guide. We did not carry our tubes!!!!!! The hike was walkable with a few steps here and there. Very nice of them to transport the tubes for us. The caves are beautiful and the water was very refreshing. It was very chill. Just what my family needed. The park has restrooms and showers. The guide had lunch for us that we ate in the van. Then back to the cruise terminal. Over all, the staff, the guides were great! I would recommend. Just be prepared to get off the ship on time!
We thoroughly enjoyed our adventure and Abner was an exceptional driver/guide. Would definitely recommend 10/10!
Our tour guide, George of the Jungle, was extremely knowledgeable during the hike identifying numerous trees and plants along the way. Tubing through the caves was an incredible experience for my entire family.
Okay, this is what you want to know. We were able to find the gentleman with a blue Superman logo T-shirt on at the end of terminal one area. That is where our cruise ship tender boats let us off. Something to take note of, if you book the excursion and it’s not one sponsored by your cruise ship more likely than not you will be on a water taxi that exits your cruise ship a little bit later than everybody else that booked a Cruise ship sponsored activity. So my suggestion would be to get up early and have your entire party with you to go pick up the ticket that you’ll need to get on the water taxi to get off your cruise ship as soon as possible. Wear Teva type sandals or water shoes with thick soles that have a good grip. You’ll be walking along a gravel path, and crossing the river at a couple of points before you reach the area that you will enter the river/caves to tube down stream. The walk is about 30 minutes. It is something that kids, teens, adults and active seniors can make as it isn’t a steep, uphill trek. I took a 12 and 13 year old and there were seniors and younger kids walking just fine. If you plan to take your cellphone or video camera, get a waterproof pouch with a lanyard or something that will float with a wristlet attached. If you drop your phone it will be lost and you really can’t easily keep it dry outside of a waterproof pouch. Wear what you are willing to get wet. Most people wore just a bathing suit but you can wear athletic clothes too. There are bathrooms at the facility, but depending on if your group is on a time crunch, you need to wear what you are okay with getting wet, at the beginning of the excursion. My kids and I had athletic shorts and shirts on over our bathing suits and we just took it off on the bus and left it on our seat before we exited to start the excursion. You can leave your bags on the bus. I didn’t hear of a single person that had something stolen or lost. They kind of pride themselves on making sure everybody’s belonging stay safe considering this is their livelihood. My kids and I all left our bag with money and personal belongings inside. We took our phones in waterproof pouches because we wanted to take videos of our excursion. When you get off of the bus at the location, they give you a few minutes to use the restroom before taking you over to the area where you are provided with safety hats with lights that you’ll need for the cave area and a life vest. On this excursion, we did not have to carry our tubes to the entry point which was nice. They were waiting there for us. Our excursion guide pointed out some unique features of the caves as we floated down. Our tubes were tied together, and so he helped to navigate us through shallow waters and deeper water. Towards the end, you can get off of the tubes and freely float in the water to cool off if you’d like. Otherwise, you can stay on the tube and they’ll guide you to the end point of the tubing tour. At the end, you get out and return your tubes, life vest, and hat with light. There are a few little shops in the area that you can buy souvenirs and trinkets if you desire. Even though my excursion group was on a time crunch, they provided us with lunch on the bus (which would have normally been provided there at the facility), gave great service and got us back to our cruise ship port by the expected time. From the cruise porch terminal, it takes about an hour to drive to the location of the excursion. During the drive, they provided some commentary about the history of Belize and pointed out some unique features of the area. Our guides were kind informative, and they continue to reassure the entire group that they would get us back to the port on time as they were well aware of what time our cruise ships we’re going to leave. They made sure that everybody that wanted to lunch was provided one including drinks and continued to walk up and down the aisle of the bus to monitor guests until we made it back to the cruise port. This is a great excursion to do with my teens. They both had a good time as well as I.
Such a great tour. Park/cave entrance was crowded the day we visited due to there being 5 Cruise ships in port (!) but Jonathan and his guys did such a great job in 1) ensuring we had a great time and 2) ensuring we made it back to our cruise ship with plenty of time to spare. It's about an hour each way but again Charlie's knows this and run a tight, well-run operation. Warning though: young average to walk a mile over rough terrain with river crossings so if you are not able to walk on even surfaces for extended periods, this is definitely NOT the tour for you. Besides that, it was great and a terrific value. Rice and bean lunch was delicious as well...a perfect ending to a most fun day. 5 stars Charlie and crew!!!!
We had a fantastic time. You can rent crocs and water proof pouches before you get in the tube for $5 and $3. Our guide Johnathan was exceptional. It exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend
The team at Charlie's were outstanding, Jonathan and Captain were the best. The caves were a real sight to be seen, truly amazing. Although the drive from the port was a little long it is worth it. You won't be disappointed.
Don’t book this cave tour with Charlie, find another company, they took our money and we were not able to go. The day before the tour, Charlie messaged me and told us to come at 9am, when we arrived he greeted us with a horrible attitude and said we missed the tour by a hour and a half, he then acknowledged that we gave us the wrong time but still refused to refund us. At this point, we realized we got scammed out $125. DONT BOOK with these people, they are not to be trusted!!
Charlie was very very rude, he told us to come at a certain time and when we arrived we were not able to go on the excursion because the tour guides actually left earlier than the time Charlie told us. Then he stated that he don’t give refunds. Don’t book with these people. You may get scammed
