An immersive and incredibly informative experience. Our tour guide Kevin was riveting and brilliant. We came away understanding so much more about the Irish experience than we had ever known - even as we consider ourselves relatively informed Americans ;)

If you're in Belfast, you simply have to do this. You hear a lot about Belfast's recent history and get to see the associated sites. Our driver, Sean, was excellent.
Our driver, Paul was both personable and knowledgeable. We were treated to firsthand experiences in history. Thank you
Sean did a great job on our black cab tour of mixing history and facts with a first-person view of the massive impact The Troubles have had on those living in Northern Ireland. Being able to witness the aftermath and ongoing effects from this bit of history firsthand was a really cool experience. Highly recommend!
It was 2 hours door to door which means it’s too quick! I wanted more because Harry was so interesting and the history and sights deserved more time. Regardless, a great tour and worth the time and money!
This joined the dots about growing up on the neighbouring island and hearing and seeing news about the terrible and tragic events unfolding in Belfast. Full on and visceral at times. We knew the names of so many of the streets and locations but didn’t quite get the same detail transmitted to us through media in the 70s, 80s & 90s.
Exceptional knowledge and a friendly guide very worthwhile experience Great to hear all the stories a
We had a great experience! Definitely our favourite part of the trip. Great knowledge and shared his own experiences with us. Thank you so much!
This is a must-do Belfast experience. A great way to understand the Troubles and the impact on the people of the city. David, our local guide, shared so many personal stories.
Ricky was so knowledgeable and personable he made the experience incredibly educational and poignant at the same time. Being from London, I came with pre conceived views of the troubles, in a short 2 hour tours, he was able to educate me enough to entirely change my political views on the topic. Highly recommend.
Jim was our driver. He was super-very knowledgeable and friendly. Throughout the ride, he provided many opportunities for pictures and even parked the cab twice, climbed in back, and sat with us to tell the story of the troubles. We left with a much greater appreciation of the history of Northern Ireland.
Brendan was amazing! He provided great insight and helped us understand the history of Northern Ireland! He was kind, conscientious, and we never felt rushed at the stops! We would highly recommend him and this tour!
John, our tour guide, was engaging and believable. We understood “the troubles “ to a much greater extent after the tour. Really a great experience.
This was an awesome tour! Saw some amazing street art and learned a lot about the troubled history of Belfast. Our guide Ricky was so good! He had some insane stories to tell about his own experiences - a very authentic tour and guide
We had a very dedicated chauffeur, Sean Mc. He is a very enthusiastic narrator and made the tour unforgettable. Lots of stops, so we could take enough foto's. Sean went deeper in the history of the Troubles. Very impressive!
David was an amazing guide. It was both emotionally moving & fun. The personal stories made us feel like we were there. Highly recommend this one for all.
John R. Was an excellent guide, sharing a balanced perspective - rooted in his own experience - of Belfast during the Troubles. He took us to all of the principal landmarks in divided Belfast, and we never felt rushed during our 2-hour outing.
The driver was knowledgeable and showed us what we requested. He did charge us an additional 50 pounds for picking us up at the port and returning us there. I thought this was included in the price of the tour. Was I mistaken about that?
We enjoyed listening to Patrick’s through history lesson. Seeing the Peace wall and learning about its origin was very interesting as well.
One of the worse tours we have done Our driver was only concerned about a port charge which our ticket said it was included he stopped the tour many times to ask us if we would pay cash which at the beginning of tour we told him if we needed to pay it we would I spent the entire time on the phone trying to solve issue and he was the worst guide tour itself wasn’t very good as we didn’t get much info
We had a great tour. Our guide was excellent, providing many personal experiences. It was all we hoped and more. Definitely recommend.
Didn't know quite what to expect; the tour was good but it was very depressing on the history of the conflict between the Catholics and Presbyterians We did tour the areas and saw the murals on the walls; the fences between the areas and the gates that close at night. While interesting, it was dismall. Our driver gave a good history and had great information to share about the conflict and the current state of affairs
I have mixed feelings about this tour. If there were an option to rate it 3.5, I would choose that, but there isn’t so I’m choosing 3. I agree with all the other reviews that it was a great opportunity to see a fascinating history up close. It did help me to put some pieces together. Particularly seeing the Divis Flats which is featured prominently in the film ‘71. (Great film, by the way.) Our driver didn’t stop to let us out at any of the murals or the peace wall. Only later did I realize that other tours have had the experience of getting out and interacting with the murals. It could be because we had a bit of miscommunication and the tour guide was not at the location he was supposed to be at (simply because he was forced to circle the city center which took a few minutes, not his fault), so we started about 10-15 minutes late. My biggest wish for the tour would be that the guides would be informed about how peace was achieved. Who were the people, especially everyday women, who worked every day to build relationships with each other towards peace? By complete happenstance I had just heard a talk by Avila Kilmurray the previous week, in the States. She and other women worked for years to organize together and build trust across lines. So I was primed to hear information about how Catholic and Protestant women worked together towards peace, including slipping out through gates to meet with each other and get to know each other. To learn about each other’s commonalities and common desire for peace. I explicitly asked about women’s roles and the guide did not have an answer. So I was left feeling like the tour was a bit of a fetishization of the Troubles, instead of a lesson about how we can do the much harder thing - which is to learn to trust each other again. Belfast could offer some helpful insights that could give us hope for the war in Gaza, but this tour didn’t provide those insights.
I want to say thank you so much to our tour guide, Jerry. We absolutely enjoyed our time with him, and he taught us so much. This was the highlight of our travels to Ireland, and I want to keep learning more about what happened in Northern Ireland. Thank you so much for offering this tour. I will always remember it.
Jim was very patient with all our questions! His knowledge was amazing of international politics in the outcome of the troubles and the atrocities that continue today!
Our guy, Brendan, was amazing! He gave us so much information and was open to any questions that we had. We were able to get out of the cab at any time to take pictures. History of a turmoil between 1970 and 1990s was thorough and interesting.
The driver explained the history and segregation and politics involved in the troubles. He explained the "good Friday accords" and helped us understand the depths and unfairness of this situation.
Very moving afternoon gaining excellent insight into The Troubles and the aftermath of the past 25 years since the Good Friday Accord. Patrick was an friendly and knowledgable guide who really offered a tremendous human dimension to the circumstances and what they meant for the people who lived it. A very worthwhile afternoon that will long stay with ys.
Interesting to hear the history and see it come to life with many impressive murals. We got dropped off and picked up at titanic museum, so it was convenient
My Driver was incredibly knowledgeable honest and generous Brought an authentic story and host of issues to real life If you are a Yank like me and grew up with knowledge of the Troubles via TV and newspaper print you don’t really know a thing until you take this real life tour
Davy grew up in the area of the troubles and lived nearby, impacted by the events. He did a great job of showing the area and explaining the impact to him and his family, thank you!
This was a very insightful tour! It was very interesting to hear about the political turmoil that is still going on today. Our tour guide, Kevin was very informative and such a joy to be with. His perspective was the Irish (Catholic) side, but we were told some of the tour guides provide the opposite perspective. It was very insightful and we could not have been happier with doing this tour. We highly recommend it!
I’m sure this experience would’ve been amazing regardless, but ours was especially so in thanks to our tour guide George. He was incredible and really made it extra special. I’m so glad we did this and would even do it again!
Our tour guide, Kevin, was compelling, honest, and approachable in the was he told the stories about Belfast’s past, present, and future. My friend and I had no idea about how complicated the city’s history is, and it was really interesting to hear it through the lens of someone who has lived it their entire lives. It was much like a museum come to life - and it was well worth waking up early for. I’d recommend an early start if you can. That way you’ll have the mural walls and the stops all to yourselves, and the roads won’t be as crowded. We had a pretty peaceful morning to soak everything in, and it was really nice. This tour company is also super convenient - they picked us up from our hotel and dropped us off at the train station after. Great tour!!
The murals were nice to look at. Our guide was very knowledgeable and willing to share his viewpoint. Unfortunately the guide didn’t take us to hardly any of the attractions listed in the tour as he spent most of the time providing his opinion. It was a disappointing experience when compared to what was supposed to occur.
Our guide Patrick was amazing. We learned so much and greatly appreciated his humor. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone, it was informative and enjoyable at the same time. A true history lesson.
Emotional is the first thing that comes to my mind. It was so upsetting and sobering to see all this history and current state of affairs is sad. The people of Belfast are kind, friendly and happy! Definitely take this tour
The driver was excellent. He presented the Irish side of The Troubles very well. The ride met our expectations.
Brendan, our tour guide was the best! Very moving, a must see tour if in Belfast! Hard to believe some the issues still exist.
The amazing sites and the first-hand experience that Brandon shared really brought it to life. A must-do in Belfast.
I tried to give you people at viator a 5 star and now you go a ruin it by insisting that I write about it. It is none of your business. Leave people alone if they say they like something.
It was personal and comfortable to be driven to places of historical interest both in the Catholic and Protestant areas of Belfast. However there was clearly a leaning towards the interpretation of the catholic side to the arguments. The driver said’ I’d rather live in a cardboard box than live with the Protestants’ What a shame that this attitude is still prevalent in a time when Peace and Love should prevail!
Really no high lights. Didn’t feel we got both sides of the story — looked at murals & saw the gates.
The tour itself is fantastic and very much worth doing. I felt our experience was marred by the driver. I was upset by the very strong views, delivered in a forceful way, that he expressed in the Protestant section. He later said he was trying to stir us up . I felt very uncomfortable regardless.
Our guide, Davy, provided a very personal education regarding what he lived through as a boy going through the ‘troubles’ during the clash/war between the Catholics and Protestants. He had interesting and colorful accounts of events during that time, as well as photographs so we could see how things used to look in certain areas. There are many ongoing efforts to join the people together (especially the children) to live in harmony.
Very interesting history! Enlightening to see the tension between Protestant and Catholic. He only spoke for 1 1/2 hour. Still glad we did it!
Amazing history and view of local culture! Wonderful tour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and educated us on the religious conflict through Belfast!
Our driver, George was very informative and entertaining. He showed us a wide variety of areas in Belfast and answered all of our questions. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.
Our guide was very informative and entertaining. We were very disappointed that he came in a back mini van instead of a black taxi that we expected and had paid for based on what the tour was called: Black taxi tour
I was very disappointed with our tour especially for the amount of money that I paid (there were 4 of us). we heard more about certain areas when we got out of the cab to look around and listened in on OTHER tour guides that gave loads of history and information about each particular area. Our guide stayed in the car. It was difficult to understand him, and he seemed to repeat himself. Not sure if he was new and perhaps nervous. Thankfully I had family with me that is from just outside the city and was able to explain some of it to me.
