We had Brad as our driver. He was friendly from the off and what an unbelievable few hours we had with him bringing us around the notorious parts of where The Troubles were. I was born in Dublin in the 70's so of course was brought up learning and living, though from a distance, those troubled sad times and the historical Good Friday Peace Agreement in the late 90's This trip opened our eyes so much to what living in Belfast was like, for everyone involved... It will stay with me forever I was so glad we did this. We took our 16 year old son and he was so moved by the experience I highly recommend this trip to anyone who has an interest in our history Thanks again Brad, from Glenda, Jeremy and Ewan
We were told this was a must do in Belfast and it was. Our guide, Ricky was topnotch in explaining the history of Belfast and Ireland and then bringing it home with how it is today. We all learned a lot and glad we went,
Well worth booking. It is personal and provides places of interest that are off the beaten track. The history is incredible and some parts spine chilling
This review is is actually a 7 star review but there wasn't an option. I took my family from America on this tour and they had the best time, they are already talking about their next trip home to do another one. Our tour guide gorgeous Gerald went over and above for us, he even extended our tour free of charge because my family were very interested the Irish conflict. Anyone thinking of doing this tour, run.... Don't walk! Amazing day spent... Thank you so much Gerald 🍀
Very educational and lovely to talk to someone who experienced the Troubles themselves. Great to hear your story Ricky.
Outstanding tour and Pat was a great guide. Highly recommend for history and realism of the shocking events that occurred.
A wonderful way to start exploring the conflicts of the past in Belfast. The signs of the past both sad and memorable, loss of innocent lives (heartbreaking) and the vision for the future.
This is a must see experience if you are traveling to Belfast. The tour uses murals to show the history and the current political realities of the sectarian troubles in Northern Ireland. Our guide Brandon was extremely knowledgeable about the city (he also knew everyone). He grew up in Belfast during the height of the conflict, and described the occupation of the city by the British army. It was an incredibly powerful experince.
Our tour was outstanding! Our guide Jimmy gave us a clear vision of the history and the actual events that occurred. Jimmy showed us both sides of the conflict and where key events occurred. Just a great experience!
Our tour guide Sean, was very knowledgeable and informative . He educated my husband and I on the history of The Troubles in a very balanced, friendly and relaxed manner. This tour was an eye opener for us and we would highly recommend Sean as your guide.
Great experience and our driver and tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He explained so much to us in an unbiased way. We were amazed at his humility as well, as he has been greatly affected by the historical events he spoke about. We would highly recommend this tour.
James Crumley was a superb and knowledgeable guide. I learned much about The Troubles in Northern Ireland. I’m an American history professor from NYC and appreciate James’ knowledge and insights. Great tour and a wonderful way to spend an afternoon in Belfast.
Great and educational experience for my family. Could not have been more impressed with the guides
our driver Ricky was so informative and kind. He has his knowledge of History in his keen mind and shares his own life being born during the trouble. It was the best!
Great driver Sean who was full of information about history and local experiences. Recommended tour.
Sean did a great job explaining different points of view on the tour! He went into all the history and it was so eye opening
This was a very interesting trip, based on an important historical introduction (presented with the most primitive and useful map I’ve seen for years – a cartographer’s dream). We appreciated the fine balance between hard facts, sober storytelling and emotional involvement.
Fascinating Troubling to see the ongoing strife between the Unionists and the Irish Still has the feel of hatred
The personal touch that we received. Our guide, Mall, was excellent. He entertained us with so many stories and facts. The pick up at the ship made it easy on our group.
Really enjoyed an afternoon in the company of Gerry with my son. We both learnt so much. Gerry’s passion, personal experiences and local knowledge are second to none. His ability to story tell combined with his wonderful old photos and videos really captivated us. I would highly recommend Gerry’s tour.
We requested a non-smoking cab and driver for the 10:30 am Black Taxi Tour in Belfast. I received a text message giving me an alternate pickup spot, which was fine. Then he told me he only had 11:30 or 12 O' Clock slots available. I returned the call and the operator said he now had a driver for the 10:30 am pickup. The driver was 10 minutes late on arriving. When I climbed in the car, the back seat and floor were filthy and reeked of cigarette smoke. My wife was disgusted. When I told the driver we requested a non-smoking car, he said it was non-smoking, and he was the only one who smoked. We asked if he could find another driver? He said, "Let me go over here to the cab stand and see if I can find you one." Then he drove off. I called the tour operator, who told me we are not getting a refund, so I had better hop back in the car. But the driver was long gone, undoubtedly out to pick up other business. Bottom line is: WE NEVER TOOK THE TRIP, THIS WAS A SHADY OPERATOR, AND NOT THE USUAL LEVEL OF SERVICE THAT WE SEE THROUGH Viator / Trip Advisor. These were bad actors. The phone showed as "Gerardo" on Whats Ap, The text Message came from "LUCY," and an e-mail sent to me through Viator was signed "Chole" telling me "we won't be paying you a refund for your tour." However, we never took the tour, and I do expect a refund.
Harry was amazing! We experienced the most amazing tour. He was knowledgeable and friendly. We saw parts of Belfast that we never would have seen without him.
I am speechless. And crying. In the best possible way. Take this tour. And listen with your full heart. ☮️
Ricky was very knowledgeable and the tour was great. Interesting to hear about the history of the troubles in Belfast from someone who lived through them.
I scheduled the wrong date and they were more then fit o refund my amount. I look forward to going on this excursion in September.
Exceptional tour from Ricky. Not my first tour but by far the best. So well informed, delivered with a personal touch.
Absolutely brilliant tour with our guide Ricky. Captivating from start to finish, so much to take in…every stop told such a story that Ricky relayed incredibly. We could do it again and again! 💚
Even if you only have one day in Belfast, you should take this tour. Our guide, David, was fantastic.
Highly recommend for anyone traveling to Belfast. Jim was fantastic, knowledgeable, and gave excellent perspective and history.
Extremely insightful and interesting learning the history of Belfast! Our driver and guide was so knowledgeable and spoke excellent English.
Fantastic opportunity to understand the history of Northern (or the the north of) Ireland and the recent troubles/conflict Our guide Kevin was very knowledgeable and give a good insight into the context of the situation that continues today
Ricky was a brilliant tour guide. Would highly recommend this tour. It was extremely informative and interesting.
Kevin was knowledgeable mindful and hopeful. He had a clear big picture of the world and humanity. His information is hopeful clear and logical. It has been a privilege to have been in his presence.
Fantastic tour and our guide was great, he was really knowledgeable having experience of the times himself. He took the time to answer all our questions too. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Belfast, it's worth every penny!
We had an excellent experience. Our guide was very informative, well worth the time and money. I will highly recommend this tour!!
Brendan was our excellent tour guide I already knew alot of the history and he filled in the gaps! He made the experience exceptional. He certainly gave us food for thought. Northern Ireland has come so far. Thankyou Brendan
The driver was amazing. He really helped us to understand things, and was very correct all the way through. Excellent.
We had Charlie who I would 100% recommend. There were 4 of us all similar age and he spent first 15 mins doing an overview then went off and was a fount of knowledge. All the information was delivered in a friendly relaxed way. He took time to answer questions and was so knowledgeable. He was just great.
Tour came highly recommended but I was disappointed primarily because of the guide who was a very poor speaker and seemed to say “do you understand what I mean” every sentence. It is too bad because the topic is interesting and the murals powerful.
Our driver Brendan was fantastic. Really knowledgable and we learnt things that aren’t covered in the ulster museum. Highly recommend 10/10
Great tour guide Brendan who gave great insights and was lively and entertaining. Opened my eyes to history in an easy to understand way.
Our driver was a knowledgeable and interesting guide to this ‘living history’ of Northern Ireland. If anything, quite a lot of details to take in especially if your previous knowledge is somewhat scant. That said, your certainly come away knowing more…. Which ‘side’ of events you are more knowledgable about will depend on which ‘side’ of history your driver is the more familiar with! If I had one criticism it would be a practical one …drivers should be encouraged to wear face coverings whilst interacting with their customers….
Stevie G was a excellent tour guide and explained the historical troubles and beyond! Highly highly recommend this tour with him!
Belfast is an amazing city and this tour was the highlight of our time there. The tour guide was so informative, interesting and had personal knowledge and experience of the harder times in Belfast and the changes that have occurred. It is a must do tour for those visiting Belfast.
Good tour! Thank you. abcdefghijklmoopqrstyuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
The best option certainly to visit the Belfast murals and understand the history and problems in that area. Highly recommended!
