Just writing up notes of everything I learned. The weather was rainy, windy, and chilly so I’m glad I chose a taxi tour over a walking tour. The guide and his family all live in Belfast so it was a heartfelt conversation. Driving by both sides of the wall is a striking experience. Highly recommend.
Absolutely fascinating our guide Dan was so honest, entertaining and so knowledgeable a brilliant host! We learned so much about both sides of the conflict and Belfast today. Would highly recommend.
Thomas our guide/driver was very knowledgeable. He made it a great experience!
Amazing experience, our guide Brendan was great. The tour helped us understand Belfast’s very interesting and still recent history, it was a very enriching experience that i would highly recommend !
I have done this tour several times in the past and had great experiences, so I wanted my current guests to have the same opportunity. Unfortunately, this experience fell short of what I had come to expect. Our guide was difficult to engage with. He was vaping throughout the tour and did not really allow us the opportunity to ask questions. Much of his historical commentary focused on events from the 1600s, and far less time was spent discussing the more recent history that we had come to learn about. We made only two stops and did not see many of the murals or memorials that I remember being such an important part of previous tours. The tour felt rushed, and overall, I found it disappointing and not nearly as interesting or informative as my previous experiences. I really wanted my guests to have the same great experience I had on previous visits, which made this visit particularly disappointing.
Brendan was a great tour guide, friendly and knowledgable. I would highly recommend booking to learn the heartbreaking first hand history of Belfast.
Not as in depth as you would hope. Informative, but a bit pricey for a fairly short ride around the neighborhoods. The extra cost to come to the cruise port seemed excessive.
Guide did his best but it was a bit onesided towards nationalists.
We loved the tour! Our guide was fantastic, super knowledgeable, friendly and unbiased! Would absolutely recommend!
Can not thank John enough for a brilliant trip through history. Our family left after this tour just amazed at how difficult it must have been to live through the troubles. John gave us both sides of the story and we left positive that the peace will hold. We wish John and his family all the best.
Our tour guide was extraordinary! He was knowledgeable, extremely informative, gracious and kind, providing a truly authentic explanation of the historical events that have occurred in Derry from 1968 through the present. Additionally, he provided exceptional insight into life in Derry during this period. Probably the best tour guide I have ever met!!
Brandon was a great drive and guide. We felt safe in his hands. It is worth doing but I don’t think you can keep yourself from crying. It was really shocking.
Sean was an excellent tour guide, with plenty of stories to tell and gave us ample time to see all the sites and ask questions. He was very knowledgeable about northern irish history
Sean was a fascinating tour guide. This tour was a highlight of the trip for my teenage boys. My son is very interested in the history of the Troubles and Sean provided an insiders tour with a ton of information.
Sean was really knowledgeable. He provided a balanced overview of the historical and current context of Belfast. He was able to answer all our questions, no matter how daft or complex and when he saw how interested we were he was able to tap into our historical thirst. Sean was an excellent communicator and made us feel valued customers. In addition as a disabled patron, Sean made sure I was able to get into, and out of, his cab safely and he ensured I was comfortable. Thanks to Sean for a great experience.
5 stars very informative and educational
We booked a 2 person black cab tour of Bellfast history. This includes the troubles as told tonus by our driver who lived through them! Definitely not to be missed for the history buffs!
Fantastic tour of Belfast from someone who lived through it
Brian was very friendly and informative. Giving both sides of the divide equal attention, encouraging questions.
Very educational and moving immersive experience. Our driver, Paul was fantastic, warm, friendly, thoughtful. Great experience!
Tommy, the taxi driver, has a great personality and is clearly very knowledgable in all respects of the history of the troubles. He gave us a detailed insight of the trials and tribulations, with a balanced view from all sides of the divide. We would very strongly recommend him to anyone wanting to get a better understanding of the history of Northern Ireland, and Belfast in particular. Thanks for a great tour Tommy!!
Sean, was an amazing guide on this historical and educational tour. He made sure we had a great experience and made the trip very enjoyable. The amount of time for this tour was not only efficient, but necessary to get depth and understanding. The price was also well worth it.
Very interesting and our cab driver was very knowledgeable and was happy to answer any questions. We had done a shorter black cab tour before but this one was more indepth. Unfortunately I can't remember the drivers name.
Fantastic tour. Well worth the money. Very knowledgable driver who knew the troubles and the history of Ireland inside out. If you have any pre conceived ideas put them to one side and prepare to be educated.
Brendan was wonderful -- informative, funny, and provided a great experience. No one should leave Belfast without a tour with these guys!
Sean was extremely knowledgeable and gave a wonderful history of The Troubles! Faster than reading a book, and he recommended several books if we wanted to dive deeper.
Really interesting journey through history. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and took our endless questions in his stride.
Sean is really well informed, engages excellently and has great insights having grown up in The Troubles era.
What a guy Sean was, I think any trip with him would be 100% worth it talk about value for money! This guy knows his stuff I thought I was clued up with a lot to do with this trip and he just leveled up again when they say every day is a school day when it comes to Sean that’s 100% true. Thanks again! Cab was spotless and he’s happy to answer any questions you have please do book with this guy he is Great!
Brian was just brilliant, he was so informative. It was great to hear the detailed history of belfast and the troubles. Brian was so knowledgeable and answered each question we had. Highly recommend this tour to get a true insight in the history and complex past of belfast.
Sean was a great tour guide and though I knew much about the political history of the city, it was great for my 23-year old son to learn it comprehensively first-hand.
We were so lucky to learn about the Troubles from tour guide, Sean. We went into this experience with very minimal knowledge about this period and we left with context that explained the heaviness we felt in the city. Sean did an excellent job explaining the Troubles and we are so grateful to have learned more from an individual who experienced it firsthand. He made us laugh and want to cry!
We had a great tour from Brendan. Very informative and entertaining. Definitely a highlight from our trip.
Our tour guide was incredible — he gave a powerful and insightful account of the people who lived through the Troubles, the difficult events that led to the peace process, and the often under-recognised individuals who contributed to it. He was also great craic, keeping the tour engaging and enjoyable throughout. We were grateful for the chance to capture some great photos of the beautiful murals and to learn about such an important part of history. The wall itself is a living voice — people sign it day and night. Though it can feel intrusive or painful for those who wish to forget, it stands as the closest thing to a living museum, a voice box for all who have suffered, and for those who continue to suffer under war and oppression. It speaks not only for Belfast, but for the world — a reminder of how far we’ve come, and how far we still have to go.
Excellent tour with Sean our black cab driver and guide. Learnt a great deal about the history of Northern Ireland and the Troubles. Interesting and engaging.
Thought provoking and emotive experience. Our guide, Sean, was very knowledgeable, passionate and friendly. He answered our questions thoroughly and thoughtfully. Would highly recommend!!
Amazing background on troubled Belfast. We were surprised there appears to be a continued point of view on the politics. We would hope it will be all resolved sooner than later.. however, thoroughly recommend this tour to any visitors
Brendon was an outstanding guide to our tour - warm and personal with a vast knowledge of Belfast and troubles
My original reservation became uncertain because bad weather had canceled my train to Belfast; I notified trip Advisor which offered to refund or reschedule me; I elected to take a later train and rescheduled. The tour guide was at the prearranged meeting site on my arrival at new time. I then had a first rate tour of Trouble areas with a college level history lesson. Incredible experience I highly recommend. My tour guide then dropped me off at the train station. Under extreme circumstances, this was both a memorable and top drawer experience I am glad I did not miss; it’s a tribute to trip Advisor and the tour company as expectations exceeded.
Would not recommend Premier as Black Cab tour. Pick up location changed without notifying us & driver was then 25 min late. Guide very biased when discussing history of Troubles. We took multiple tours during our 2 wk visit to Ireland and could not understand this guide due to his accent- not a problem on any other tours.
Informative about the history of Belfast. Details you don’t get on your own. The guide did a wonderful job answering questions.
Dan was excellent!! Very knowledgeable of the political history of Northern Ireland! Very passionate about his homeland!
Such an informative, educational and emotional experience. Thomas was an excellent guide. An experience we’ll never forget.
Sean gave an incredibly informative tour. We learned so much. Appreciate his unique perspective. Gave a great foundation for our tour of Crumlin Road.
We were so glad to be able to book this last minute. Our guide was informative and very accommodating in the pouring rain
It was excellent! Sean is an insightful and knowledgeable guide. His passion for the history of the Troubles, put it into a broader, and thought provoking context. He peeked our interest in learning more. Thank you Sean.
very disappointed. Not in a black taxi. Our driver did pick us up on time and at the designated location. really did not feel we got anything out of it.
We completed this tour with Jack as our driver. He was very knowledgeable and polite. The vehicle was very clean, we didn’t feel rushed at any of the stops and we had lots of time to take pictures. We would highly recommend doing this tour if you are visiting Belfast.
Our driver Brendan was warm and friendly. He guided us through the long history of The Troubles with grace and dignity for all who were affected. He was good craic too and we all really appreciated our time with him in his black cab! Genny
