We were lucky to have Duncan as our Belfast Black Cabs Troubles Tour guide. He met us promptly at the appointed place for which we were grateful. Whilst our vehicle was not a black cab as such, it was certainly a comfortable modern van that suited our group’s needs. Duncan conducted the tour at a pace that ensured we got to see the relevant points with as much or as little detail as we wanted. We were never rushed and got full value from the tour. More than anything Duncan spoke with the gravitas warranted by the situations discussed and we were grateful for that. Thanks Duncan.

Ricky our guide was very knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. It’s a great way of getting an in-depth understanding of the history.
We went on the tour with Brendan as our guide. The sights were interesting and the way Brendan took us through the tour with his stories, knowledge, and sympathy left us feeling educated, moved, and interested to learn more about the conflict ourselves. A really great experience and really great with a guide who was not shy to answer any questions we had. He was very open, and yet also neutral. Do the tour; you will not regret it! Furthermore, it is excellent service to be picked up at and taken back to your hotel at the end of the tour.
Very good tour and our driver Jimmy was very knowledgeable and took us to all the places we wanted.
Great educational engaging and interesting tour with Paul! He showed us multiple different spots and let us take tons of photos. He showed us lots of pictures and videos to help us better visualize different sites. Overall great tour experience I would recommend!!
Great tour by Brendan today, very informative and interesting. Brought us around to all the important areas sharing facts and story’s. Overall great tour. Highly recommend to anyone considering doing the tour.
Paul was our guide, knowledgeable and very engaging. If you get him as your guide you’ve hit the jackpot on this excellent tour. Don’t miss it, absolutely tremendous
Highly recommend the Black Taxi Tour Original Drivers. It was far beyond how it is described. Paul was EXCELLENT, sharing personal experiences made it more heartfelt and memorable. Lots of emotion brought to these sights. Thanks Paul 💙
I can’t recommend Ricky highly enough. He was extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and gave us the most incredible two hour tour. We were a group of four, who bombarded him with questions, all of which were answered with a great deal of information. We were able to stop at several places for photos and it was particularly wonderful to write our messages on the Peace Wall.
An excellent introduction to the history of the Troubles. George made the times come alive for us at every stop with detailed accounts of the context and major events. He also shared how this history looms large over the population of Belfast in ways that continue to affect their every day lives. Highly recommend.
Ricky is the best! He was prompt, incredibly friendly, and made the whole ride an absolute breeze. His knowledge of the local area and history is excellent, and the cab was spotlessly clean. I highly recommend him—a true 5-star experience in Belfast!
An absolutely brilliant tour with Ricky who really brought everything to life. So educational and thought provoking. I would highly recommend
Ricky was great and so full of information.. he lived through the tough times to tell us the details.. thanks
This was extremely educational and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who likes to learn on their vacation. Ask for Rickie, he is the best!
Our guide Mick was fantastic! We really enjoyed his stories and experiences with someone who lived in those times. Thank you Mick . Cheers Helen and Alain .
There is nothing quite like a Belfast Black Cab tour, and when you get a guide who can mix the heavy history with that legendary local wit (and a nickname like "Cardboard Shape Head" is peak Belfast humor, by the way), you know you've struck gold Duncan, thank you for an absolute fantastic tour this morning and sharing all the history and stories with us, highly recommend this company, absolute legends and a professional service.
We had an absolutely fantastic experience with Black taxi Tours. Our guide, Brendan, was outstanding from start to finish. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and had a great sense of humour, making the whole tour enjoyable and relaxed. Brendan shared fascinating local history and stories that you simply wouldn’t get from a guidebook, and he was happy to answer all our questions. His passion for the area really came through, and he made sure we got the most out of every stop. If you’re thinking of booking a tour, I couldn’t recommend Blank Taxi Tours highly enough. And if you get Brendan as your guide, you’re in for a real treat. A five-star experience all round!
Ricky was an incredible guide! Patient, thorough, interesting and an excellent story teller.
Ricky our guide was an approachable and friendly guide with a gift for summarizing hundreds of years of history into concise and easy to follow statements. He aptly explained the origins of the political situation in Ireland leading up to the Troubles. He had great visual aids to demonstrate the experience of the Troubles as a young man who lived through them. It was a poignant and powerful visit to the different neighborhoods of Belfast at the heart of the divide with a note of hope and peaceful intentions for the future. My young adult kids and elderly parents particularly enjoyed seeing the murals, the remembrance gardens and hearing about the punishments doled out by Authorities. Highly recommend this tour as an essential stop if you're visiting the North of Ireland.
Incredible experience, worth traveling up from Dublin for this tour only. Our guide Ricky made it very special with all his personal stories, inside information and knowledge of the Troubles. Highlight of our Ireland trip! Cant recommend it enough!
Brendan was absolutely incredible! Smart, knowledgeable and answered every question we had. 10/10 recommend!
Our guide Brendan was truly fabulous. Energetic, articulate, passionate and objective. We enjoyed every moment of this poignant tour through history and modern day Belfast.
Our guide Brendan was excellent. He was very informative and interesting. The tour gives you a close insight into this part of history. Although you realise it was not that long ago. I found it an enlightening and moving experience. Would highly recommend.
We had an absolutely perfect time with Peter. Very easy to understand and provided all the history we needed on the Tours. Absolutely recommend taking a tour while in Belfast.
We found that the was very informative and interesting. Our guide,Gerard was extremely knowledgeable and brought the history of the politics of Northern Ireland to life.
This tour was recommended by a couple of friends. Brendon was very knowledgeable and took his time explaining events to us. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Belfast!
Excellent tour and insights into the troubled time Belfast has seen. Our tour guide Ricky was excellent and his first hand experience of growing up through the period and being caught up in the fighting was really personal and quite moving. It gave us a really unique insight into what it must have been like to live through the turmoil. Ricky had compassion for both sides and a really unique personal story. Our family of three generations (grandparents, adult kids, and kids/teens) loved this and it was very helpful for all 7 of us to be driven round in the van to see the different parts of Belfast impacted by the troubles.
Informative, fairly balanced presentation of the history and ongoing struggle.
Our family was picked up directly in front of the hotel by Ricky, who warmly greeted us. He is an extremely knowledgeable guide with a deeper understanding that comes with someone who grew up and lived through the troubles. Ricky patiently answered all of our questions. This was one of the best small group tours I have ever experienced.
Our guide Brendan was extremely knowledgeable and friendly giving a personalised and interesting perspective on the history and events.
Just topped our list of neatest experiences. Jared was fantastic ~ kind, professional, personable, and above all knowledgeable! Took us to all the key Troubles landmarks, both sides, and introduced us, historically, to the major figures. Everything in the details and more. This tour is more than just a tourist box to be checked, it’s emotional and powerful!
My sister & I had a 2 hour tour with Ricky which was incredibly informative and moving. He was very knowledgeable explaining the history of Ireland going back over the past 800 years, giving context to the Troubles which ravaged the 6 counties of Northern Ireland from the late 1960’s to the Peace Deal at Easter 1998. It was wonderful to see the now peaceful streets of Belfast, on both the Falls Road and the Shankhill Road.
Ricky was our guide and did an outstanding job. He provided important context for the Troubles, right through the present day situation. A trip to Ireland would not be complete without a visit to Belfast and Troubles Cab Tour. Highly recommend using Ricky.
We loved the experience. Our guide Ricky was excellent and we left with a great understanding of the history of Ireland. Highly recommend !! Very comfortable ride
Gerard was able to relate very personal experiences related to the troubles between the Protestants and the Catholics. He shared a significant amount of information and showed many pictures of the conflict. We did not realize how separated Belfast still is. Driving through the divided areas was eye opening.
Brendan was wonderful! Knowledgable, friendly, and accommodating. He would stop frequently and ask if we had any questions and would give a very thorough answer to anything we asked. He also gave us the opportunity to get out at several places to take photos or to step inside a church. I highly recommended Black Taxi - and Brendan.
The tour was great very informative, Brendan our tour guide was amazing from start to finish, we learnt so much.
The two of us did our tour on the 14th of April with Brendan in his very clean , private cab which was set up perfectly for our tour. Brendan arrived early at our hotel for pick up and the tour was absolutely perfect and met all expectations. Brendan’s knowledge was amazing and his balanced candour was greatly appreciated. During the tour we bumped into another guide who told us we were lucky to have booked our tour with the best guide. Our experience left little doubt as to the accuracy of this remark. Book with Brendan and you wont be disappointed. Thanks again Brendan.
George was an amazing host with so much knowledge, we learned so much and would highly recommend this tour
Brendan was a wonderful tour guide! The tour was educational and meaningful and we left we a better understanding of “The Troubles.” Highly recommend this tour!
We had a fantastic 2-hour guided tour with Brendan in our own private taxi. He was incredibly knowledgeable and provided thoughtful, impartial insights into life before, during, and after “The Troubles” as part of our political tour of Belfast. He also encouraged questions throughout, which made the experience even more engaging. Brendan went above and beyond by offering to take photos for us, helping us capture some great memories from this in-depth and personalised tour. It was absolutely worth the price and is a must-do experience for anyone visiting Belfast.
Ricky was our guide/driver. He provided a very comprehensive and knowledgeable tour and his personal life experience growing up during the troubles made the tour very interesting. It was a relaxed 2 hour tour, never felt rushed and Ricky gladly answered any questions we had. I came away feeling so much more informed about life in Belfast during the troubles but also saddened about all the suffering and killing that happened in Northern Ireland.. Ricky and his mam and family were forced to flee the troubles to Tipperary when he was only 1 year old for a few years. This really struck home to me. Thank you for an incredible experience Ricky. From your grateful Tipperary visitors.
Our guide Ricky made this trip an unbelievable experience. Great local knowledge and actual life stories from the time and place.
Ricky gave an excellent tour of the Falls and Shankill Road areas, and the up the the peace wall. 5 ⭐ Would highly recommend. Visiting the Crumlin Rd Gaol the day before gave some helpful context , so would recommend that if you’ve time.
We had Ricky as our driver who was knowledgeable and very friendly. He explained everything in detail and answered all our questions. The tour itself was very interesting and lasted a lot longer than expected. Excellent value for money really enjoyed learning about the Troubles ans all that went on in those times
Brendan was absolutely fantastic. Very knowledgeable and very friendly, funny and learnt a lot. Highly recommend. Samantha Paddy Stephanie Jason ☺️
Brendan was an amazing host and a wealth of knowledge. Incredibly friendly and accommodating. Our best experience of our Holiday and highly recommend
Recommend this tour Jared has personal knowledge of troubles and area being a local . He brings family experiences + extensive knowledge of Irish history to explain the troubles. Definitely take this tour worth the price.
Had an amazing private tour with Black Taxi Tours. Brendan was our tour guide and he was excellent. He's a fountain of knowledge, I don't know how he remembers it all! We did the political tour which brought us through both Catholic and Protestant areas as well as the Peace Wall. If you're a fan of the Say Nothing TV series you will see many areas from this series as well as some murals to the real life characters. We mentioned this show to Brendan who was able to give us some local knowledge in regard to this too. Couldn't recommend it more!
Excellent tour Brendan was amazing great grt knowledge and fab sense of humour. Answered many questions would so recommend Brendan as your tour guide.
