A fantastic insight that was honest and open. Completely absorbing - recommend without hesitation!
Quite a lot to take in - suggest read up on it beforehand It will give everything some context A great driver who knew a lot
Exceeded all expectations. Knowledgeable. Friendly. Accommodating. Answered all questions.
Excellent tour. I took my two daughters last week and Dan was an excellent guide, giving us a first-hand account of his experiences during the Troubles, as well as his perspective on the situation today. We had a lively debate about both the history and the current climate, and although we didn’t agree on everything, I found the discussion incredibly interesting and enriching. Dan welcomed questions, was open to different perspectives and was not afraid to tackle difficult and sometimes contentious subjects head-on. It was a rare opportunity to have such an open and engaging conversation with someone with first-hand experience of the Troubles, and I really appreciated his willingness to share his perspective. I would highly recommend the tour, particularly to anyone who wants to learn about the Troubles through personal experience as well as history. We’ll come back next year for part II!
Dan was a truly excellent tour guide who brought home both side of the political history of the Troubles on our trip today. He presented the history so well with a real insight for the events at the time with personal anecdotes . His knowledge and the manner in which he communicated this could not be faulted. His interpersonal skills are superb and he used these to great benefit. He welcomed all our questions which were willingly answered and even acted as the tour photographer for us. We felt privileged to be given such a perspective to living through the Troubles. We hope he visits Liverpool with his family, of whom he is so proud, so we may share our history with him. 10/10 just the best decision we made during our visit to Belfast.
My family and I have just experienced what can only be described as a must see tour, hosted by Dan. Our tour guide, in spite of experiencing the troubles himself, gave us an unbiased understanding of the history and mindset of the two sides of the conflict. He was also open to answering any awkward questions we may have had. I highly recommend this experience.
We had a fantastic Black Cab tour of Belfast with Dan. He was extremely knowledgeable and provided a fascinating, personalised overview of Belfast’s history and the events that have shaped the city. What really stood out was Dan’s ability to present the history in a balanced and unbiased way, giving us a much deeper understanding of the different perspectives and experiences of the area. He tailored the tour to our interests and was happy to answer all our questions along the way. Dan was friendly, engaging and clearly passionate about sharing Belfast’s story. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend Dan to anyone wanting to understand Belfast beyond the usual tourist attractions.
We spent 2hrs with Dan who was our brilliant tour guide for the peace wall talk. It went by so fast as it was so interesting to listen to the history and his personal experiences of the conflicts in Ireland. Definitely recommended.
We thoroughly enjoyed an excellent and informative tour with Dan. The information was presented in a compassionate way to help us understand the struggles of both the loyalists and the Irish. He has inspired us to learn more about the past and present politics. We also appreciated him taking us to a local bakery to pick up some delicious pastries! 😊
Dan was lovely and very informative I learnt so much today. He was friendly and had many light hearted anecdotes. And all though it was an awful time he appeared to have real hope for future peace and for a united Ireland one day. it was a real privilege to do this tour
Anyone visiting Belfast should do this tour and getting Dan to take you around is the icing on the cake. He is very knowledgeable impartial and likes to get your thoughts and welcomes views.
I cannot recommend this highly enough. It was the most informative, interactive tour. We were fortunate to have a wonderful tour guide Liam who shared his own stories with us. This tour was exceptional.
Really interesting tour with Dan, a Belfast resident who had lived through the Troubles. We learned a lot & it was fascinating to get his insights into Belfast history. Thank you Dan!
It should have been 5 stars and excellent but the system would not allow me to do that. The tour was excellent and the driver gave us a thorough history of the troubles. He took us to all the relevant areas. We were able to take lots of photos.
My wife and I booked this private tour. Dan provided an amazing historical tour and shared his personal insights. Dan made sure he took our photo at each stop. I highly recommend this tour. Make sure you request Dan.
We were so happy with our tour. Learned so much. We are from the US both with Irish ancestry- our guide was so knowledgeable, funny and kind. Thank you!
My dad and I had a really great time with Dan. He is thoroughly knowledgeable, interesting and a really great guy! We both really appreciated that he was willing to cater to our requests to see specific murals as well. Can’t recommend him enough if you’re looking for a tour. Thanks very much :)
The tour with Dan is very interesting. He's a genuine Belfast local who recounts the history and the most harrowing events of the past. 100% recommended.
Great tour! Friendly guide , plenty of history. Throughly enjoyed it . One of the highlights of our trip!
Trip was cut short substantially because our ferry was late, our time slot was 2pm. Lacked some customer service however the driver had lived experience during the troubles which made it made the tour more interesting. Overpriced for what we got, hop on bus tour just as good and a much cheaper fee. Weekend visit and crammed in giants causeway, titanic museum and a bus tour. Recommend fish city for good seafood and Bertz jazz bar AA rosette flawless service would Recommend.
Dan showed around we two people from England who had experienced 'the troubles' at arm's length via TV news. Educate yourselves by taking this no-nonsense trip with Dan. Discover at first hand why Bernadette Devlin wrote in 2023 the words in my review title. We learnt about why problems usually consist of grey rather than black and white. Dan is the epitome of warmth and will be unshocked by any tricky questions you may ask.
A very informative and fascinating glimpse of the troubles and their context and history. We felt it was a privilege to be shown how growing up amidst the troubles would have been. It was brought to life and we are really pleased to have gone on it.
We had a fantastic experience with Dan on the Peace Wall Taxi Tour. He was incredibly interesting and informative, with a great sense of humour that made the whole tour really enjoyable. He was also very flexible and kindly picked us up directly from the train, which made everything so easy. Highly recommend!
This tour was first class, Dan was a fountain of knowledge and explained everything in detail. If looking to book a peace wall taxi tour I cannot recommend Dan enough.
Dan Thank you for the most amazing trip yesterday- you were brilliant. We will recommend you to others, Brian and Liz from Barry, Wales. Xx
Dan was an absolutely incredible tour guide, he does it in a very unique way. He shows you the history of the North of Ireland through 3 perspectives so you can really get the picture. He took me to some absolute jaw dropping places and was such a kind and lovely man to talk to. He has incredible knowledge and charges a very reasonable price for what he gives you.
This was a great way of understanding the recent history of Ireland. The tour took us to some well known places and the commentary was very interesting to us all despite our varied ages. The driver was very accommodating as we changed our pick up spot. We thoroughly recommend this tour.
Dan was great! Had great insight was so welcoming and was very interesting! Would 10/10 recommend!!!
Our tour today with dan was outstanding and very informative, it was a pleasure to be in the company of dan and his informative dialogue of the troubles and explanations of the murals from both sides, i would highly recommend this tour, thanks for a great experience
Dan was very engaging and great with our 9-year-old. It is truly worthwhile to hear from someone who has lived through the Troubles. We learnt a lot, thank you Dan.
Great tour with Dan. Extremely informative with humour and personal stories without bias. Would highly recommend and would even do again.
Dan was amazing! Easy pick up from Belfast train station he took me to the places and streets of his youth and filled them with first hand stories, you can ask a million questions and he'd patiently answer with his big heart. Thank you Dan for helping me learn and unlearn. There is still hope for humanity, because of people like you.
Great tour, great company with Dan. Super interesting anecdotes. Great tour, great company with Dan. Super interesting anecdotes.
We had a fantastic tour. Dan was engaging and shared many personal stories, making the experience both educational and insightful. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Belfast.
Dan welcomed us into the black cab and was incredibly friendly and personable from the start. He began the tour by clearly explaining what was involved, emphasising the neutrality of the tour experience and that there would be no glorification of violence. The tour took us to several local murals, with Dan explaining the artists behind them and the political meaning of the work. We were shown areas of Belfast where segregation still exists, as well as neighbourhood memorials marking significant historical acts of war. Dan was fascinating to listen to and offered valuable insight into the history, alongside his own personal experiences and perspectives on the complexities of the civil conflict. Thank you for such a powerful and informative experience, and for sharing this important part of our history.
Our tour experience with Dan was fantastic! With his first-person experience, his telling of the history of the conflict was very impactful. He made sure to explain both sides of the conflict which included visiting both sides of the peace wall. He made sure to take plenty of pictures of our family at the various sites which we appreciated. He encouraged us to ask as many questions as we could and provided very thoughtful answers to those we asked. I know there are several tours similar to this in Belfast, but I would certainly recommend Dan's...you won't be disappointed!
Excellent tour today. Very informative and thought provoking. Learned things about the history that I wasn’t aware of. Would highly recommend.
We took the tour with Dan, it was a fantastic eye opening experience. Dan spoke with incredible insight, passion and balance regarding the history around the troubles and religious divide. His enthusiasm for peace shown through and offered a hugely informative experience that has been a highlight of our trip to Belfast. With a choice of pick up and drop off locations available, I would highly recommend this tour.
I took Dan’s tour with my two children (7 and 12), and it was absolutely fantastic! Dan was brilliant—engaging, thoughtful, and full of personal insight. He shared a moving first-hand account of growing up in Belfast and explained everything in a way that my kids could easily connect with. Dan gave us fascinating context about how Belfast’s history relates to conflicts around the world and why it still matters today. He welcomed every question about current politics and everyday life, and his honesty made the tour even more meaningful. Hearing from someone who lived through the Troubles yet now navigates a society where peace exists but tensions remain was truly eye-opening. We also loved that you can choose your pick-up and drop-off locations, which made the whole experience incredibly convenient. Highly recommended!

Dan was brilliant fountain of knowledge , very friendly the time flew by but came a away after totally enjoying our trip with Dan
Excellent tour! Dan is a knowledgeable, nonpartisan guide, giving a personal insight into the troubles and the ongoing challenges still facing the two communities today.
Our guide, Dan approached the subject tactfully, compassionately neutrally, and with a great deal of personal knowledge of The Troubles
Dan led an incredibly insightful and personal tour, hightling political murals and other sights. I am very thankful to have met Dan and learned his firsthand account of growing up in Belfast. And also appreciate the pub recommendation!
This tour far surpassed our expectations. Dan is an incredible tour guide and brings so much passion and real life experience. It was earth-shatteringly real and informative, and I will truly never forget it. I highly recommend to others!
I’ve watched movies and read the history of the troubles but to hear it from someone who lived through those times made it so much more real. It was heartbreaking but our guide gave us a different perspective, one which can be applied to the problems in the world today.
Well, if you want to hear about the Palestinian tragedy and hear about Jesus and you would like to do it in an old run down minivan, then is the tour for you. I finally had enough and told him, “ I paid for tour to learn about the Troubles and NOT a tour to discuss what Israel is doing to the people in Gaza.” Possibly the single worst tour I’ve ever been on.
A super interesting tour! Dan was a great guide with lots of stories and information to share. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone!
Dan gave us a thorough insight into his experiences growing up in Belfast during the Troubles. He's a very likeable and genuine guy, easy to talk to and nothing was out of bounds. I was so impressed with his positive attitude, and outlook on how things were, and are. He was brilliant with both my kids (15 & 12 years old), going them pens to write on the Peace Wall, and gave my boy an inspirational chat on beginning secondary school before we left. I keep thinking of his words 'an imperfect peace is better than a perfect war' and am glad we chose this particular tour. Very memorable, and lots of what Dan told us will stay with me always.
