Gerard was an amazing tour guide and provided us with first-hand experiences and stories about the troubles in and around Belfast. The family really enjoyed his presence and expertise with surprises along the way. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a tour with him and his company to any of my friends visiting Belfast.

I had a little higher expectations of the Belfast experience that wasn't the tour guides fault,i may have been slightly uneducated of the whole thing and expected more bombing sites more like underbelly type of style. Still fully recommend make sure you take a umbrella and a texter or black marker to sign the freedom wall as our driver had neither.
Booked the Black Cab Tour at least a week in advance through Viator. Received confirmation and they charged our credit card. At the appointed time the tour driver didn't show up. No contact information for the tour operator was provided. Called (at our international phone rate expense) Viator customer support and was told that the tour operator never received the booking and other than a refund there was nothing that could be done. That was our last day in Belfast and the tour was the one thing we wanted to do. Very poor performance on both Viator and the tour operator that they contracted with.
Troubles of Ireland with Ricky was an amazing tour as he was full of lots of information and we learned a lot that we didn’t know. Thank you so much for an amazing tour!!
Great tour. Super interesting and informative. Brendan was our guide and really made our experience. A must for a visit to Belfast.
Gerrard was an excellent tour guide. His historical knowledge was vast. He related his own personal experiences and family history to political and historical events which really bought the tour alive. He gave us an extra hour and it was obviously a topic he felt passionate about. I learnt so much. Thank you
We highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in the history of Ireland. Ricky’s personal experience through the troubles, combined with his knowledge of history made this an outstanding experience for us. He took the time to answer questions and was unbiased during his tour. Thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon!
This tour was the most impactful tour we have taken in our visit to Ireland. The tour guide is an owner and a native of Belfast who lived through the actual years of the Troubles. His family has paid a tremendous price for freedom from the Brits Gerard is exceptionally articulate and passionate about the history of Belfast. Also his vehicle is very comfortable and spotlessly clean , plus it is a Mercedes van and so comfortable. We are a 3 generation family travelling throughout Ireland and we all found this tour to be so worthwhile. We all recommend it highly to everyone visiting Belfast. These people know the real price of freedom
Excellent tour with Brendan. Nothing was rushed and he was happy yo go well over time answering our many questions. Even dropped us off at the Titanic museum after the tour for no extra charge, despite being well out of his way. Fantastic service and fascinating tour. Thoroughly recommend it. Many thanks Brendan.
After booking and placing my deposited, I needed to back out . Communication was excellent and I received a hassle free refund! This was so appreciated . What a wonderful company ! Thank you —-
A great tour, loads of information and history. A very balanced view from both sides, well worth booking. I would def recommend.
We had Ricky as our guide. His knowledge and lived experience through the troubles was really informative and gave us a much better understanding of the historical context and the troubles. This is a must do if you visit Belfast, we cannot recommend it highly enough. Thanks Ricky
Fantastic, informative tour today. Well done Gerard we learned so much about Irish history.an absolut must do trip. Would highly recommend
Our driver was Brendan, he was fantastic very friendly and very informative our party was 6 and we all thought it was great. Thank you Brendan
What an amazing educational and interesting 2 hours - one of the best things to do when in Belfast. Our driver, Brendan, was fantastic from the first moment we met - welcoming, chatty, informative and shared both sides of the story. When in Belfast make sure to take this tour and learn about a significant part of history
This tour was the best I’ve ever done anywhere!! Brendan gave us an amazing insight into life during The Troubles and present day Belfast. Incredible that this was not so long ago. Amazing and so unbiased.
Our driver/tour guide, Brendan, was so lovely throughout the entire tour! He took us to the West and North of Belfast and told us about different key figures and era of the Troubles and what it was like growing up in West Belfast during that time. The entire tour was very informative and has really opened our eyes and minds to what was going on during the Troubles and what still goes on today. I would highly recommended the Black Taxi political tour to anyone visiting Belfast!!!!!
Tour was excellent. Our tour guide Brendan was great, very knowledgeable and friendly. He provided many interesting details along the tour and gladly answered any questions we had. Recommend it if you want to learn more about the Troubles and get a better understanding of what went on in the past and how things are improving now. Very moving to hear the history. The tour itself was an appropriate duration at around 2 hours and the price was very reasonable.
Brendan was amazing!! He gave us an in-depth perspective about the troubles of Ireland. He talked about the IRA and their memorial gardens. He showed us the walls that are still up from the troubles. He also showed us the Protestant side and their perspective. Brendan was very kind to me and my mother! I highly recommend Brendan if you can get him, as a young female traveler, I felt safe and comfortable. 10/10 would recommend again!
Thanks to Brendan for the knowledge he showed and the information he shared during our 2 hour political tour of Belfast. Brendan was a fantastic tour guide, helping us understand the political divide experienced in Belfast, the history surrounding it and the progress since the peace talks and the Good Friday agreement. Thanks for answering all our questions, accommodating the pick up and drop off and being a wonderful host.
What a great experience. Brendan, our driver and guide was absolutely brilliant and you could tell he knew his stuff. Not through learning from books but actually living through it. Can't recommend highly enough
Ricky was a brilliant tour guide. We thought the whole trip was very insightful and covered both sides of the conflict without prejudice. Would recommend doing the black taxi tour over any others just for the personal touch it gives. You won’t be disappointed.
We had a tour today with Brendan. He was so knowledgeable and answered all our questions , he really made the tour memorable and enjoyable. It was well worth it.
Sean Mc gave us a qualivied and interesting overview of the incidents in Belfasts history. We visited the wall abd many other spots around town.
My wife and I took the 2 hour political tour, and we both thought it was great. Our guide Brendan was very informative and took time to answer any of our questions and explain things we didn’t fully understand. Would definitely recommend
Thank you Ricky, the most brilliant and moving tour. It was very sobering g and sad to hear the journey of the Irish. There were so many things that we did not know. Cheers Linda Reid
Our Black Cab tour guide - Sean - was great! His first hand recollection of growing up in those troubled times was fascinating, as well as the historical info he provided on the conflict.
I was interested in the troubles history and my hotel the Malmaison booked it for me-I was assigned a guy named Ricky.I told him I had no real knowledge other than grown up in 80s England with memories of TV shown bombings and killings etc. He gave me full history lesson then we done murals and landmarks and got out for pics etc.He hasn’t been doing it long but was superb…he’s a degree in Irish history,he’s a artist who worked and signed a mural on the international wall.Thankfully since the Good Friday Agreement it’s a better place for everyone but his tour definitely gave me an appreciative insight with balance and truths I was unaware of. A must if you visit Belfast and I hope you land on Ricky as I believe it’s pot luck who your get but I’ve got his number I will share with mates I know who may visit.
The best tour guide in Belfast!! Sean Mc was amazing, so fun and very informative. I would deffs recommend doing a tour with him! It is so worth it, we would come back to Belfast just for this tour with Sean!!! Do not miss!!!
“Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.” This is the reason I bring all my visitors to Ireland on this tour! While the modern story of Belfast is so positive, which bodes well for the future, the history of The Troubles must be learned and remembered to avoid recurrence. Ger and the team are the original and the best black taxi tour guides. They lived to tell about the experiences of their own families and communities, so the tour is both historical and personal. They give you the truth of The Troubles, ‘warts and all.’ I have been bringing visitors for 12+ years and all have been blown away by what they’ve seen and learned. And I learn something new every single time. I highly recommend this political tour if you really want to know about the difficulties of the past, the progress of the present and hope for the future.
Brendan picked us up at our hotel. We had 2 hours With Brendan and it flew by. He was very interesting and very informative. I highly recommend this tour and Brendan!
Paddy picked us up at our hotel and started the tour . It was excellent he was extremely knowledgeable . We had a in-depth explanation of Northern Ireland’s history including the potato Famine and the more recent events . We were taken to see the Murals , the Jail, memorial gardens and much much more . Throughly recommend this tour , Paddy was knowledgeable. Unbiased and friendly, it was informative and fascinating . Thank you
Very insightful tour from Brendan. I will recommend this tour to others to help get the most of their experience in Belfast.
Just spent an amazing and informative afternoon with Gerard and Davy from Belfast Attractions. Both were so knowledgeable about the troubles in Ireland and were able to talk to us about personal experiences which totally contextualised the past events. A couple of really friendly and down to earth lads who know their stuff. Thanks lads, I would highly recommend.
View good tour and interesting on both side would highly recommend doing this Sean mc was the driver and was very friendly and help full
We had the pleasure of a black taxi tour with Sean. What a fantastic experience. Sean was so knowledgeable and really helped us to understand the history of Belfast! Highly recommend 10/10
Sean Mc proved a superb guide. His knowledge of Ulster’s history dating back to the 17th century provided a valuable backdrop to the more recent troubled history. His explanation of the post-war experience was detailed and instructive, and his analysis of the problems still arising even after the Good Friday Agreement were enlightening. Sean was extremely balanced in his accounts of the criminality and atrocities committed by all parties in the Troubles. He peppered his talk with personal anecdotes which only added to the imparting of knowledge. A memorable and sobering couple of hours, thoroughly recommended for anyone interested in social history.
Fabulous taxi ride. Our driver Sean Mc was so friendly and knowledgeable, it really was amazing and a real eye opener. We both thought it was a highlight of our visit to this beautiful city. Totally recommend this to anyone and do feel if you don’t do it you are missing out a bit. Sean was great, really informative and open to questions. A must do!
I have no tips as the guide was excellent and covered all aspects of the tour, answered all questions, and added interesting history and highlights. The guide was good crack pleasant and patient, and even dropped us off close to a market. Would recommend Seán Mc, thanks for everything .
JR did a really engaging and informative tour for my English friends and myself this weekend. We all loved it and everyone learnt something new! John the tour guide was so funny whilst also delivering a lot of information in the 2 hours we spent with him. Would really recommend any one do this tour! Thanks John <3
Davy guided us expertly, impartially, sensitively and with just the right amount of humour through an intriguing, highly personal tour of the area of Belfast most affected by the Troubles. As an Englishman who grew up during the 1970s and 80s I needed to do this tour. It was well, well worth it and I would thoroughly recommend any visitor to Belfast, whatever their previous perspective, doing the same. Like me, D and M felt different about it afterwards.
We booked a 2 hour black taxi tour and it was incredible. Our driver, Brendan, was extremely knowledgeable. The tour was interesting and very moving. We learned a lot and our whole family truly enjoyed learning about the British and Irish history in Belfast. If you're in Belfast, this tour is a must. Brendan was excellent! Highly recommend
Such an awesome experience. Sean M was such a fantastic tour guide, taking us through the history of Belfast and northern Ireland. A sobering experience, but so informative. Thanks Sean!
An amazing insightful couple hours spent with Davy who really brought the troubles to life with unbiased personal stories and reflections. We couldn’t recommend this tour enough.

From the minute the driver met us he was amazing!! I’m local but decided to bring my friend who was visiting on the tour and i learned more on the tour than I have in my 37 years of living here! Our driver Brendan was funny, friendly and made us feel so comfortable! You will not regret doing this tour!!
Our driver Walter was great. Hotel pick up. Saw all the places I had heard about. Peace wall, He mentioned a book I had read and I told him about seeing Geraldine Hughes in Chicago. My friends and I enjoyed the morning. It was raining. But glad to be in a warm cozy can. Allen’s Tours Recommended this guy so I texted him And we set everything up. He knew his stuff and it was neat about the book I had read amd checked out Ms Hughes And her play Belfast Blues.
Our driver, Davy, sharing personal stories about living through the Troubles as a young boy. He offered hope for peace .
We did this tour with Jim as our guide. What an eye-opening morning for all four of us! Jim is a wealth of knowledge and experience. He shared his most poignant experiences with us and helped us understand both sides of this sad and troubled history. We highly recommend this tour and would urge everyone visiting Belfast to enlighten their understanding of this interesting city.
