This tour immediately transported us to Westeros. Robbie was AMAZING! His stories, game of thrones knowledge, and history lessons made the tour so enjoyable. And because we were ahead of schedule, Robbie went out of his way to bring us to a few extra locations (like the first Catholic Church in Ireland and St Patrick’s Grave) because we were from Boston! An absolute treat, and the best time spent in Northern Ireland! Thank you!!
Excellent time! Easy pick up and drop off, we did both Winterfell and Iron Islands, on 2 days. This tour is great! You get to see where the filming was done, tour guide Richard was fantastic. He's Friendly and knowledgeable with good stories on his times as an extra in the show. You get the double whammy of seeing amazing Irish landscapes and old ruins. A trip to Giants Causeway too! Definitely recommend. It's a great price for the day, you pay your own lunch at the pub they organise. Food was great at both! Highly recommend! Thanks Richard. Les & Sui Terry and Monica
Would have given the tour 5 stars, which it should have got, but the trip from Belfast was cancelled, so was offered to join the tour from Dublin at the first stop, but had to make my own way to Newcastle Co Down, and from Downpatrick at the end, but the tour operator was fantastic, gave full instructions on which bus to catch and where from on Belfast to Newcastle, there booked me a taxi for the short trip to Tollymore Forest to meet with Dublin tour, we did all the same stops, just in reverse order, are guide Robbie was fantastic and he has starred in Game of Thrones and played several roles, so knows his stuff, told us loafs of details and showed us pictures and videos of clips from the series and how they looked on screen to what you see in real life. Tollymore Forest is very beautiful and a must see, even if you are not a fan of Game of Thrones, you get your monies worth here, tour does involve a good bit of walking, but the many stops you make while the guide gives you information about the scenes filmed, gives you a break, if I ever come back to Ireland would definitely do this tour again
We did a private tour with Richard for my friend's birthday and we had the most INCREDIBLE time. Not only was he a great tour guide, he's just a great guy! We spent the entire day together and the conversations about anything and everything never stopped. We were originally scheduled to do the group bus tour, but it was unfortunetly canceled (they were very nice about trying to book us on an alternate tour) but I'm so glad that we had the chance to do the private tour instead. I would do this tour again in a HEARTBEAT and would reccomend this to EVERYONE who is a GOT fan!
What an incredible experience for any Game of Thrones fan! Our guide Robbie's genuine passion shone through as he shared personal experiences as an extra and how the show shaped Belfast's community. The locations were beautiful and historically fascinating beyond just being GOT filming sites. As a longtime fan, I got emotional seeing Winterfell, Castle Frey, and the northern forests in person. Robbie was funny, upbeat, and high-energy throughout, eagerly answering questions, discussing fan theories, and sharing North Ireland's history. I absolutely loved this tour and plan to book the Iron Islands tour if I return. The North remembers :)
We went on 13th August tour. Our guide Robbie was brilliant entertained us with stories from his time working as an extra. He was very informative about the sites we visited. John our driver was lovely and we were in safe hands with him at the wheel. Brilliant day leaving us ready to start watching the series from the beginning again. Would recommend it to all fans. Will hopefully do the Antrim coast tour soon.
Despite having the only rainy day in April 😂 the Winterfell tour was amazing! Robbie was very knowledgeable and shared his GoT experiences with us and brought the locations to life with a (soggy) picture board and great sense of humour! The lunch at The Barn was also outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Belfast. Thanks, David & Julie 👏😎
Originally, we wanted to do the Iron Islands tour, as the landscape really appealed to us. However, two days before the tour, we received an email saying that due to the guide falling ill, we could either reschedule, cancel, or switch to the Winterfell tour. Apparently, my email reply didn’t go through, so contact was made via WhatsApp instead. In the end, we did the Winterfell tour and were absolutely thrilled! Robbie, our guide, was fantastic – he told us a lot about the filming, was extremely friendly and helpful, and really tailored the experience to us. We saw so many interesting things and had a lot of fun! The lunch was also very good and served in a pleasant atmosphere. All in all, we would definitely recommend it. Even as non-native speakers, we could understand everything very well. Also, compliments to the excellent bus driver (Paul?), who clearly knows his craft!
Had a wonderful Game of Thrones weekend. The tour was a real highlight for us. We loved seeing the different locations and had a lovely lunch at a beautiful location. Robbie is so passionate and so polite. Definitely worth every penny and we would highly recommend this tour to any Game of Thrones fan.
It was canceled a couple days before it was scheduled. They were unable to notify me and they claimed it was due to an illness. If it really was an illness they wouldn’t have been able to cancel so far in advance and they would have been able to get another guide. They were still running other tours. I suspect my tour didn’t get enough people and it was canceled so save them the cost with the poor turnout. It would have been better if they just told the truth or had a more believable explanation.
I cant actually comment on this trip as the trip got cancelled 2 days prior due to sickness however i can comment that we were offered a full refund, reschedule or to swop onto the Iron Islands tour instead due to our short trip to Belfast i decided to swop onto the Iron Islands instead bit gutted we were offered the Winterfell clothing to wear on the Iron tour but we didn't get offered the clothing so had to wear Iron born instead as an avid House Stark fan it felt like a bit of a let down from a fan point of view as i was really looking forward to seeing Winterfell and the Dire Wolves however the Islands tour made up for it as i was only staying for 5 days i had planned everything in advance so had to juggle a few things maybe next time Belfast x
We had perfect weather for the Fotos and our Tourguide Andrew was so great, very cool and funny inside views from someone who worked severel years on GoT. He is a very good storyteller , cannot wait to book another Tour with him in the future, would even do the same one again , just to get entertaint from him.
Another amazing tour and lucky enough to get the legend Andrew McClay again. Have now done both and they are fabulous days out. The walks on the Winterfell tour can be hard going for some, but so worth it. To stand, see and be at the actual spots where so many important parts of the GoT stories happened was just wonderful. The food in the pub was also very good. I will be back next year when the additional Knight of the Seven Kingdoms bits should be added.
If you have watched game of Thrones (and liked it), this is worth every penny and more! Andrew, our guide was entertaining, very engaging and funny. He was an extra in many of the seasons and told great stories about the filming of various scenes and how the series impacted the lives of those living and working in Northern Ireland.
There is not a word adequately sufficient nor descriptive to use for the quality, fun and splendor to the senses than this tour, hosted by a real for real 7 times killed extra actor in the originsl Game of Thrones saga, Robbie. Who could possibly tell the greatest GOT fans the story of Fire And Ice better than someone who has lived & died the tale himself and also lived his entire life at The Great Wall of Westeros growing up with several main characters? And the other cherry on top of this colossal tour experience was the best of the best tour bus driver, Phillip, handling narrow, curvy roads like he was driving a motorcycle rather than a huge bus. This day will last in mine & my husband's memories until our last day. The tour, the guide, the driver, the famous filming sites, lunch, the film clips & photos, the stories & laughter, and last but certainly not least, he group of people we had the opportunity to meet and with whom we had this rare adventure were all outstanding. If anyone wishes to take a Game of Thrones tour, this is THE one to take!!!
The filming locations we visited were cool in and of themselves but the fact that real stars stood in the locations we were at made it that much more amazing! Robby(who was an extra on GoT and got to stand next to Stannis "The Mannis" Baratheon) was an incredible tour guide with lots of knowledge of the material and had a joyful attitude the whole tour. I would 100% recommend the Winterfell walking tour!!
We just got back from Ireland and our tour with the GoT Tour was second to none! We were a small group (just the three of us) and since the Winterfell Trek from Belfast was not running the day we were there, we had a private tour. And we had Richard the Wildling as a driver and personal tour guide. Richard was an actual featured extra in the film. That's why we called him Richard the Wilding. The places that we went to were so amazing. Wow!!! Now I understand why we started so early. Because when we went to some of the ruins (such as the Inch Abbey), we were literally the own ones there. If we left later, there could be a few more people there. Because of the pristine and not crowded environments, we were able to take some super amazing photos!!!! Richard was super friendly and engaging. There were no "awkward" moments in the car. We had such great conversations. Yes, there were some hiking for this tour (such as Tollymore Forest Park). But the places we got to after the long-ish hike were so worth it. We had a chance to see the exact locations of the GoT scenes! And Richard gave us the inside scoop about how each one of those scenes were made during the filming. Don't wait and don't try to do it yourself to see some of the famous GoT locations. Do this tour!!! Totally worth it!!!
Such a great day. Walking through the woods was amazing, beautiful trails and a great lunch. Rob was very passionate about about how the show was made and had wonderful stories to tell.
I really enjoyed my trek through Winterfell. Tollymore Forest is a stunning place you can enjoy even if you've never seen the show. I'm jealous of the locals that get to come here regularly. Gorgeous moss covered trees along a stream. It's a beautiful hike made even more exciting knowing it was used for filming. It rained the entirety of our hike through the forest and around Castle Ward. It made the experience more authentic, as you know the cast and crew were out in these conditions regularly. Nonetheless, Robbie made the tour enjoyable. He is really a delightful human. Shout out to Ian our driver, I kept thinking I'm glad I'm not driving in this. Luckily, it did stop raining briefly enough at the end for us to get cloaked up and nerd out to get some epic photos. It was really fun. Plus, I got to touch Winterfell. Wohoo. It will be fun to rewatch the show now and say, I've been there! I recommend this tour. I flew across 2 oceans to get here, and I'd do it again.
Was a great time! Came from California and it was worth it. The food is not included but the restaurant we stoped at for lunch was amazing. The tour was 10 hours and I felt the time went by fast. Must wear comfortable shoes. Be ready to walk.
Great tour highly recommended! The walk thru the beautiful woods in Tollymore and Castle Ward in the Stark cloaks were amazing. We learned so much about the production and Lar's account of the show. Lar is highly entertaining and kept the group well informed. Our tour from Belfast was originally canceled but Rob and Lar made it right and gave us the option to join the group from Dublin. Took very good care of us throughout the tour.
Lar was an amazing tour guide, couldn't possibly find someone better suited for the job. The stops were incredible, loads of information while also being surrounded by Ireland's beauty. Everyone gets cloaks that they hike in for the day, but they don't get too hot or uncomfortable, at the end everyone gets a sword/banner/shield to take one of the coolest pictures ever. Would absolutely recommend doing this, if you live and breathe Game of Thrones, or if you're a new fan, this tour is something special.
Excellent day, excellent bus driver and guide. Would go again just for those reasons. It is a bit pricey but it is worth it and would advise to check the weather before going. Also take plenty of water as it is a good walk.
Robbie was an excellent tour guide. He really took time to explain everything to expect and made the experience fun! I took the trip with my friends just recently and must say we all had some great time. Zoltan was our driver who made our journey a safe one! Thank you guys! However, the windows of the coach bus needed a little cleaning as our view on the roads were marred. Overall, Will surely recommend to everyone!!💃💃
Great tour! So enjoyable and Robbie our tour guide was really knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly. Phillip our driver was also excellent and friendly. Robbie had lots of stories of his own experiences on game of thrones and behind the scenes trivia to keep us entertained and the pictures of the scenes allowed you to visualise exactly where they happened. Plus you get to dress up with cloaks and swords - what more could you ask for!
My daughter and I had an amazing day with Robbie the excellent guide and Philip the excellent driver! Robbie had loads of stories from his time as an extra on GoT and gave us so much detail about behind the scenes. It was wonderful to see some of the places where filming had been done. This tour was great value and we would love to do the Studio tour and Iron Islands tour next time we go to Belfast.
I want to write a long detailed review as though how good the trip was, but honestly it can be explained in a few words: Excellent, Flawless and Wonderful. Our guide for the trip, I believe the name was Richie (I could be wrong) was so full of life! Properly enthusiastic in his passion, he delivered every information with charm and wit. I loved that he mentioned his experience on the working set of Game Of Thrones. it made the trip more personal, and may I add, more enjoyable! You can really connect to the world of GOT by just walking straight into it yourself, and come out with information a whole fandom would kill to know. What made this trip, in my opinion unique, is even though Game of Thrones is the theme of this tour, we get to know more of Belfast. He ensured us to know brief things about past history from places we drove past, and had us glued to his attention for the whole ride. Before I end this little review, I want to give a proper thanks to the bus driver of this tour, Philipp (I believe his name is). Thank you for driving us, had a good and safe time on the bus! Thank you so much for this experience, it is a memory I will cherish into old age. Sincerest, A fan
This was a fabulous tour! If you're a true Game of Thrones fan, you do not want to miss this. Andrew was an incredible guide who was extremely entertaining and a brilliant GOT expert. This tour included so many great stops, and I loved seeing the clips played at each location to remind us of the exact scenes. I would absolutely recommend this tour to solo travelers, couples, friends or literally anyone who wants to immerse further in the GOT characters and stories. I loved hearing about Andrew's personal experiences and connection to the series!!
Let's start with the tour. I did both the Winterfell and Iron Islands tours and both were equally brilliant. Guided by actual extras from the show, they not only pointed out popular film sites from the show, but the background info on their experiences in helping make the show took the tour to a whole new level. Richard (guide for Iron Islands) and Andrew and Lar (guides for Winterfell) kept us entertained the entire time. They provided insight into the show as well as Irish culture in between stops and helped everyone have the best experience possible. You could easily tell they enjoyed their job guiding us through the Game of Thrones realm. They gave us cloaks, swords and shields for great photos, took photos of us with their cameras as well as our own cameras and even shared the photos they had taken on their own phones with us! Personally, I had a few problems getting these tours done (through NO fault of the company or it's employees). I had signed up for both tours. The day before I flew from the States, I got an e-mail from Rob the Tour Director saying that my guide for the Saturday Winterfell tour tested positive for Covid. He gave me several options to choose from (including a full refund, but I chose to reverse the tours I had signed up for and go to the Iron Islands on Saturday and Winterfell on Wednesday. The Saturday tour was great as expected and even included the Giant's Causeway as well as the GoT sights. On Wednesday, the weather forecast didn't look good for us (Hurricane Agnes remnants), but the tour van showed up as scheduled and off we went. We got through the morning portion (Castle Ward/ Inch Abbey) without a problem, but by lunch we were informed that due to high winds, Tollymore Forest was closed. Richard told us that Director Rob would refund us for half the cost that we were unable to complete. They took us back to Belfast and I contacted Rob to see if I could catch the Saturday Winterfell tour so I could complete it rather than get my refund. The Winterfell tour out of Belfast was booked full, but he told me a way I could catch their Winterfell tour out of Dublin that same day! Although it took three tries, Rob went out off his way to ensure that I could complete both tours I had booked! I NEVER expected to see customer service like that ever in my lifetime! Most companies would simply say something like " Sorry, it's out of our control", keep the cash and wave good-bye. Not this company! As great as the tour was, it was the director, the guides and even the drivers that I will remember most! They all went out of their way to give their customers the best experience possible - even at their own expense! I cannot speak highly enough for this company, it's service and the incredible tours that they offer.
On this tour we had Robbie as a guide, another great guide who was an extra on the show. He told us so many awesome stories from his time on the set and just random GoT related stories. So much fun to hear! Another amazing time with GoT tours, I can only recommend this tour and the Iron Islands one, so much! You are in for an amazing time with lots of info! No dull guide sightseeing for sure! Tollymore was such a great catch for the eye! If I ever come to Belfast again, I would do both tours again as it is just too much fun and you get to see all these. great locations along the road !!!
I went on this trip with my grown up son and daughter ( both GOT fans) as part of my birthday present. From the moment we got onto the coach we knew this would be a wonderful day . Mainly due to our guide Andy McClay. He was excellent in every way, telling tales from the GOT sets, sharing his vast knowledge of the show , and having us in stitches most of the time. Andy was an extra in 5 seasons of GOT and we got to see him in action many times, using his photos and videos. The locations were amazing and it was great to actually be where the scenes were shot , with Andy telling us plenty of inside information at each. For any GOT fan this day trip is a must! Great fun all day with a few surprises along the way. Then of course a GOT episode playing on the journey back to Belfast! Brilliant!
I liked seeing the first two sites including Winterfell site. However it’s really a misnamed tour , because it’s two 1 mile walks to see any other sites after the bus lets you off. I had to opt out to go on the walks due to health issues but was told most of it was just walking to a site of trees or some rocks . The guide would tell them what scene took place there. I was with two family members- one liked it and the other was sos-so about it. The guide was enthusiastic about his job. I will say the lunch place - The Barn was a very good choice.
We had a great time in this tour with Robbie the Archer et Bob the driver. Great anecdotes throughout and great organisation with a lot of enthousiasm from the guide without negativity towards some of the stragglers. Probably not as breathtaking as the Giant's causeway, but still worth every pound spent for this awesom day in nature.
What an incredible experience for any Game of Thrones fan! Our guide, Robbie, spoke about the series in a way that showcased his genuine passion for it, sharing his personal experiences as an extra and how the show shaped the community of Belfast. The places we went were so beautiful and historically interesting in their own right in addition to being filming locations for big moments in GOT. As a longtime fan, I got emotional seeing Winterfell, castle Frey, and the forests of the north in person. Robbie was so funny, upbeat, and high-energy throughout, always willing to answer any and all questions, geek out about fan theories, and talk us through other parts of North Ireland's history. I absolutely loved this tour, and plan to book the Iron Islands tour if I'm ever back in the area. The North remembers :)
Andrew was the best!!! So GOT knowledgeable and amazing storyteller - wife and I had an amazing tour and loved every minute of it!!! Learned so much!
Super fun and interesting tour. Our guide, Andrew was filled with enthusiasm and passion as he spoke of the sites used for various scenes and also added a personal touch by telling us of his experiences as an extra! The tour allowed us to not only be immersed into Westeros (specifically the North and Riverlands), but also allowed us to discover bits of Northern Ireland that we wouldn't have known of otherwise! We will definitely be back for the Iron Islands tour as we have such an amazing time on our day!
The tour was amazing, our guide Andrew was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the tour. The energy and enthusiasm was great, even at 8am!! Couldn’t recommend this tour more and definitely a must do for GOT fans. Thanks again, we’ll definitely be back for the iron islands tour!
Robbie the Archer kept us thoroughly entertained with his witty recounts of his experience as a GoT extra. We saw great sights and also beautiful nature on the short walks we did. I now have a greater appreciation of how the show is created. Highly recommend.
Our experience with the Winterfell Trek from Belfast was AMAZING! Robbie the Archer was such an incredible resource for all things Game of Thrones. To be in the same locations where the filming occurred is an absolute MUST for any GoT fan. We appreciated Robbie's firsthand account of what it was like to be on set and his enthusiasm for tour after tour has not seemed to diminish any based on all of the other positive reviews. We would absolutely come back to Northern Ireland and do this all over again! Thank you to Ricardo for getting us from A to B safely. Thank you Robbie for such an incredible day!
Robbie was hands down one of the best guides on any tour we've ever been on. He was friendly and energetic and just excited to talk with us about game of thrones and share his vast trove of unique experiences and personal knowledge with us. Every location we went he would share knowledge from the filming and add his personal experiences as an extra which made each location come alive in a exciting and immersive way. I can't recommend this tour enough for the inspiring locations and the Robbie's incredible guide skills.
As an extra on the show, Robbie knew A LOT about Game of Thrones. He shared his experiences with us engagingly & enthusiastically and is very pleasant to listen to. The tour was wonderful with the cloaks, shields and banners, but really Robbie made the day. Tollymore Forest Park is absolutely beautiful and I would love to go back there sometime. Overall, a great trip! Definitely worth a visit if you like GOT and would like to see more of the beautiful Northern-Ireland.
I love GOT and the tour was amazing, but my favourite part was the energy of our guide Robbie. How he maintained this incredible enthusiasm for over 8 hours is mind blowing. Great tour and would definitely recommend.
Truly a unforgettable highlight of our trip to Belfast! Our group absolutely loved the knowledge of and enthusiasm for Game of Thrones form our your guide, Robbi. Robbi is an absolute gem. Every moment of the tour Robbi was so excited and happy to tour everyone through the beautiful scenery that was the backdrop for Game of Thrones. Would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone!
Let me say first that I am not a huge GOT fan. my friends are and they talked me into going with them on the tour. With that said, even if you are a casual fan you will enjoy this tour. The scenery was amazing, great facts and behind the scenes info about the show, and the highlight was our tour guide, Robbi. He puts so much into making sure everyone was having a good time and now I want to go back and watch it again.
This tour is a must if you are a GOT fan. Our tour guide Robbie the archer was our guide and he used to be an extra in season 2 as he mentioned with proof of his pictures too which is really cool. The tour was a great experience as Robbie was a very nice guide. He always makes sure we were complete. There was once that we were left of becasue we were busy taking photos that we missed his explanations about that place, but then he waited and explained it again for us. We appreciated him a lot. The winterfell trekking tour was amazing. You would really feel and see the beauty of Northern Ireland and of course you would really greatly immersed in the GOT experience. Hail to the king of the north!!
Beautiful scenery all around. Was cool getting to be in the spots that the show was filmed in. And the guide making sure we knew where they were.
I give this a 5 out of 5! Winterfell Trek is a top notch tour. This was a completely immersive experience with a spectacular tour guide! His charisma was most appreciated. It added to the fun. He was very knowledgeable and I found him an absolute delight. Can't say enough good things about this tour. If you are a GOT fan this is MUST DO! Thank you Robbie!
We stated early at the exact time with friendly guide Robbie and Driver Peter. Had a wonderful time, guide was very good with so many interesting story and facts to share with us, friendly with a smiling face, no rushing, giving enough time to enjoy every location. Love those metal weapon for pictures. Inch Abby experience was exquisite. Tollymore forest locations are beauful and we got a dry and sunny weather which made this tour unforgettable. Most recommended if you are a game of thrones fan
For me, the idea of combining some scenic NI places with game of thrones was a win/win. As a fan, I was very happy to see that the guide was very excited about the locations and very knowledgeable too. Robbie- the guide, and Peter-the driver, were great and helpful, allowing time for some photos too, without rushing anything. Get ready for some trek in the middle of the nature, but be aware that NI weather is not "clement" so wear trekking shoes and warm clothes, especially in the countryside the wind can get nasty. The bit I loved the most was Tollymore Forest.
