Roisin was very personable and knowledgeable. How she keeps all that history in her head is phenomenal. We actually ended up having a private tour since my daughter and I were her only clients. Roisin was patient with my questions and willingly answered them. Highly recommend.

Itinerary
Our guide will meet you at the front gates of Belfast City Hall and your tour will begin with an introduction to the tour and the history of the city.
In Bank Square you will discover the history of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its unique grotto, and the original Belfast Castle which stood nearby.
As you walk into the Cathedral Quarter your guide will introduce you to the remarkable history and stories of the United Irishmen and their contributions to our city's development.
As we walk along the historic Hill Street, one of the last cobbled streets in Belfast, we will introduce you to some of the best street art in Belfast along with our recommendations for our finest bars, restaurants and nightspots, together with the story of Punk in Belfast and why it was so important to us in the midst of the Troubles.
The Customs House is one of the finest buildings in the city and was home to 'Speaker's Corner'. You will learn some of the stories of the best and worst orators to have stood here, together with the history of one of the oldest pubs in Belfast still standing nearby.
As you walk along the banks of the river Lagan you can look across to the famous yellow cranes in Harland & Wolff shipyard. It was here that the Titanic was built over 100 years ago. You will also hear the legend behind the stunning public sculpture 'the Salmon of Knowledge' and visit our favourite piece of art, the Beacon of Hope, which symbolises the resilience and regeneration of Belfast in recent years.
The Albert Memorial Clock is Belfast's very own 'leaning tower'. At this historic spot you will discover the reason for the angle and also learn how Belfast got it's name. And we'll show you our most famous footballer's favourite pub!
The Belfast Entries are at the heart of the oldest part of the city. Today they have been turned into an amazing outdoor art gallery. Here you will get to explore dozens of pieces of art each with its own story to tell, while hearing about the importance of this area and the people who lived here over the centuries.
In the pedestrian precinct at the heart of the city you will discover the meaning behind some of the quirkiest public art in Belfast, together with its alternative name and the centuries-old stories of the historic buildings surrounding it.
Your tour ends at the Titanic Memorial back at City Hall, where you will hear the story of the most famous ship built here and of some the people who sailed on her, before finishing with tales of some of our most famous citizens (whose statues are to be found in the grounds) and their contributions to our society.

First, thanks to previous reviewers as I was debating between this and black cab. Experience was exactly as previously reviewed! There had been a big storm the night prior and I was sure we were to be cancelled, but the communication from DC was great and we were a go! Our guide, Roisin was excellent! Knowledgeable, engaging and very attuned to when we needed a break. Her perspective on Northern Ireland was very refreshing and honest and I really appreciated her tips on other activities , dining etc. This is an easy walk without steps or hills. I would highly recommend!
From start to finish, everything about this experience was first-class. Mark was absolutely superb when I spoke to him, offering excellent advice and helping us choose the tour that would best suit our group of friends. We opted for a private tour, and every single person in our group was thoroughly impressed. This is a group of people who have travelled extensively and experienced many walking tours, so we have plenty to compare it with! Our guide, James, met us at our hotel and immediately made a fantastic impression. He was engaging, incredibly knowledgeable and informative, and his own personal experiences brought the tour to life, making it all the more fascinating and memorable. I cannot recommend this tour company highly enough. From the initial booking process and Mark’s excellent advice to James’s outstanding guiding on the day, every aspect was first-class. A truly exceptional experience that exceeded our expectations!
Just finished a brilliant tour with Colin and we were lucky enough to have him all to ourselves! Tour was really interesting, done at a good pace, lots of great info and Belfast history. Also took us to a couple of spots he knew we would appreciate from our chats during the tour. Highly recommend. It was a pleasure to meet you Colin and for you to show us this great city! We'll be back!
Fabulous tour! Highly recommend. Great mix of history, architecture and details of the 'Troubles'. Our guide, Roisin, was an encyclopedia of knowledge...not sure how she does it!! Friendly, professional and entertaining. Would highlight recommend!
What a wonderful insight into Belfast, the troubles, the history, and the figures who made history. Anne our guide felt more like a friend after 3 hours wandering round this beautiful city.
Learned so much about Belfast. Our guide was knowledgeable and funny. Thank you for a great experience.
A lovely few hours walking around this vibrant city. Personal anecdotes from the guide about growing up here over the time of troubles really showed how far the city has come. May it ever be so!
This tour was a great way to see Belfast both attractions, pubs and obviously the history. We had an excellent guide who had great knowledge and answered any questions with knowledge. Well.worth the money indeed.
We had a great tour with Colin. He gave us a feel for the city and its history with great stories and insights. Three hours felt much shorter, because we saw so many interesting things. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to start to learn about Belfast and its history, as well as some very interesting and lively city culture.
Had a wonderful tour with Roisín who made the experience very fun and interactive she was funny informative and very approachable and gave great insight as to what Belfast City is all about.
Wow what a truly immense guided tour. Myself and my sis were the only 2 booked on the tour so we were so lucky to have nearly 3 hours with Rory for a personal tour!!! We had come to Belfast to see and learn about the city and people not for the 'troubles' we wanted to get to know about Belfast for other reasons. As children growing up with a serviceman in the forces during the 70's and 80's we were aware of the politicol landscape of Belfast. Rory was really accommodating to our request and his historical knowledge was phenomenal. He is an excellent orator and we were captived by his story telling and knowledge. He did offer comfort break stops along the way but we both declined because we did not want to break the flow of the tour!! Thank you Rory for a superb walking tour - we have learnt so much!!
Really enjoyed this tour. Mylie was exceptional, personable and knowledgeable. Even as a “blow in” she taught us locals a thing or two! Well researched and wonderfully delivered. Well done.
Roison was an extremely knowledgeable local tour guide who shared the Beauty and History of Belfast on our small group (10) tour. Roison was very easy to talk to answered any questions the group had, added a few of her family stories which always enhances the experience IMO. We left Belfast feeling like we saw and learned enough to realize it's a city to come back and visit! The weather was absolutely stunning- we saw the sun 🌞 the entire day which apparently is a rarity in Belfast. Great tour if your coming from cruise ship - quick taxi or cruise ship shuttle gets you there in plenty of time for the 10am 3 hour journey. Roison also gave us recommendations for lunch and pubs! We chose St George Market open Fri- Sun - the locals there were extremely pleasant and we enjoyed learning their culture through conversations 😀
Your tour guide Roisin was excellent, friendly with amusing anecdotes plus informative re the history of Belfast. Recommended tour.
Colin was an excellent guide. He really knows the city and history. He was a great communicator with a sense of humor. There’s nothing like walking through a new city with a guide who can give you great insights, stories and history. Thank you Colin!
Great walk through the city centre with guide Rory. Very well paced and Rory knew his stuff really well and we covered a diverse range of history and related topics. Would strongly recommend Rory and DC Tours.
Awesome guide! So informative and enjoyable! Highly recommend!
Colin was very knowledgeable, spoke well, and was concerned for our safety whilst walking the streets. Our 1.5 hour tour was changed to a 3 hour tour. A good but tiring time.
Did the Belfast Mile tour as part of a teambuilding day with. Colin the tour guide was superb, very knowledgeable about a city I have lived in for over 50 years, and know so little about when you hear his stories. Nice stop off for coffee at the Crescent Arts Centre. Highly recommended tour, and even received a great book recommendation at No Alibis bookshop.
Great way to make the most of limited time in Belfast! Good pace, highly informative, interesting and fun.
A great guide.. Jim was informative and humorous. The best value for the money and would recommend to others as a way to see the city.
Absolutely amazing tour. Lucie was phenomenal…worth every minute.🤗
Lucy was great! Her knowledge of the city was great! Really enjoyed her tour. I will highly recommend DC tours!
The tour was enjoyable and Lucy O’Sullivan was great. We had a little difficulty finding her for the meeting point. It was great having the audio set to hear her clearly. She was quite knowledgeable on the history and some cute stories. We were in Belfast during a music festival, which added to the atmosphere. We had one rest spot, which was a nice short break to get off our feet. Overall, a very enjoyable day!
Excellent tour in every respect
Our guide Lucie was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We learned so much about the history of Belfast and enjoyed the many sites that she shared with us. Her Tour gave us appreciation for the possibility of peace and reconciliation, respecting differences and peaceful coexistence. It is amazing for us to know that so much happened in our lifetime. We are so glad that we were able to visit this amazing city and understand more about it’s complex history.
The tour was very informative and moved at the ideal pace. Since Belfast has an interesting political situation, the guide was careful to navigate the issues with Care. He was personable and very smart. We enjoyed ourselves very much and would highly recommend this tour.
I booked the 3 hour walking tour with a group of friends. We all lived, worked and socialised in Belfast so we knew the city well but wanted to see it from a different perspective. Jim, our tour guide, was absolutely superb and his knowledge of the history of Belfast was outstanding. Jim took us on a journey that allowed the story of Belfast to unfold. The route he took allowed us to experience the important historical events of Belfast. Jim really told the story in such a way that was captivating and he covered a vast amount of topics. We really had a wonderful time. I thoroughly recommend this walking tour as it is a very manageable and enjoyable trip. Jim really is a fantastic tour guide.
What a fun and informative tour. We went so many places along the walk that weren't in the research that I had done. Lucie was fantastic not only very knowledgeable but also personable with great conversation amidst the walk. Even gave me a great dinner recommendation that I thoroughly enjoyed that evening! If I had time I would do another DC Tour!
If you want to know more about Belfast, book this tour! What we saw, we wouldn't have been able to do without our guide Lucie. What we heard, we wouldn't have known without Lucie. Wearing a headset ensures that all the information provided sinks in. A tour with a lot of variety. DC Tours is easily accessible!
Great tour commentary by John! He knew the history of Ireland and was a big fan of the new equality and the peace!
Mark was our guide and he was maybe the best walking tour guide I have ever had (and I have done a lot of walking tours). The tour was so interesting and thorough (in a good way) and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Belfast who appreciates in depth city walking tours.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Best of Belfast Walking Tour with Roisin as our guide. She not only covered the history of Belfast, but made it truly interesting and engaging as we explored the city. Roisin was professional, personable, and brought the past and present of Belfast together in a very immersive way. We really enjoyed our time with her and highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Belfast!
Lucy was a great guide and we really enjoyed the tour. The ear pieces made a big difference!
We were treated to a fabulous and informative walking tour with Roisin our guide. Her knowledgeable and engaging commentary really brought Belfast to life and gave us new places to revisit. Highly recommended.
Great tour with Chris providing the highlights of the City Center of Belfast. We enjoyed historical stories of the area including The Troubles and a tour of Trinity College and the infamous Long Room, along with some of the oldest pubs in the area. Chris graciously answered any questions we had as we were a small group. Highly recommend this tour if you’re in Belfast for the day.
Colin is an excellent guide. He made sure we learned enough about Irish history to appreciate Belfast and the surrounding area. We never felt rushed or hurried, and he gave us an exceptional tour of highlights. Colin spent extra time making sure we got to see and do the things we were most interested in. An extremely informative and helpful tour, with great suggestions of things to do afterwards and places to eat.
Excellent tour, well worth booking. Roisin was lovely, really knowledgeable and engaging, I was honestly worried about my attention span over the course of a few hours after an early flight, but she was so interesting we’d have stayed chatting longer. We booked this for the first morning of our first trip to Belfast to get a sense of the city and where we might want to head to later on, and it was brilliant. We’ve never booked a tour like this before, but based on our experience we absolutely will again. There are lots of more specifically focused tours available, but we wanted to get a general and rounded overview of the city and its layout first. Thank you so much Roisin, and DC tours.
This tour was truly wonderful. Our guide, Mark, said he was only with the company for a few years, but he really knew his stuff. You can read the details of the tour on your own, but I will say it was a great introduction to Belfast, and managed to cover not only a geographical orientation of the area, but also quite a bit of the recent and not-so-recent history. Mark’s background is in military history, which obviously helped! He was very willing to talk to us about the Troubles as well, and it was great to have a local’s perspective on that history, as well as the current movements towards possible reunification. It is a three-hour walk, with a short break for a quick coffee and bathroom stop, so definitely wear your walking shoes. The price was right, and we were a nice small group of seven. In addition to history, we also got a nice orientation to the local eating scene. We had a great time, and cannot recommend this tour highly enough!
My wife and I did the Best of Belfast walking tour through DC tours recently whilst on weekend trip in Belfast. We did the Saturday morning tour at 10am and weather worked out great. Out guide Mylie was wealth of knowledge and very friendly. It was just two of us plus Mylie plus someone that was joining us for training purposes. You get to see a lot across the three hours. Plus there is break for bathroom and coffee and quick bite. You get to see a lot of city centre, learn about history of Belfast plus learn little about the Troubles. We had great time and highly recommend.
Our guide Mark took us on a very interesting tour around Belfast. Cramming in 100s of years of history and information into a couple of hours. As well as some really helpful recommendations for our stay in Belfast. The passion.
A very informative and enjoyable walking tour with our expert local guide Colin. We were transported back in time to the origins of Belfast and the subsequent history that has made the city what it is today. This is Irish hospitality at its best and the love that Colin has for his home city shone through. We received lots of great recommendations and put them to use during our 5 day stay. It was an excellent start to our holiday and we continued to explore the best of Belfast. Thank you. Mike & Emma
Excellent little tour with lots of historical information about Belfast which brings the city to life. The Troubles were discussed and Irish history discussed.
I took the “Best of Belfast” walking tour with DC Tours today, and my guide, Colin, was fantastic. Colin is a wonderful guide, a true Belfast local, and clearly passionate about his city. Belfast has such an incredible history that sometimes gets overlooked because of the dark chapter known as the Troubles, which lasted from 1969 to 1998. But before that 30-year period, Belfast was a massive industrial hub for linen and shipbuilding. Colin was so knowledgeable about everything - from the Norman invasion, the United Irishmen, and the booming industries of Victorian times, through the dark years of the Troubles, all the way to the beautiful and thriving city Belfast has become again. Colin gave just the right amount of history, along with great recommendations for the best coffee, places to eat, and even where to buy the best hot chocolate! I would definitely recommend Colin and DC Tours… I’ll be taking the History of Terror tour next!
Our tour guide Mark provided a greatly informative tour of Belfast city centre and associated history. He provided great detailed facts in a relaxed, friendly story telling style which my partner and I both enjoyed thoroughly. This tour is great for newcomers to Belfast and provided us with a great level of understanding of the history of Belfast and notable moments in its history. We highly recommend this tour to others.
My mum and I did two walking tours with DC tours on separate days. History of Terror Tour and Best of Belfast Tour. Steve was filled with knowledge. He gave both sides of the story based on the terrors of the past which was interesting. Steve was funny and entertaining and both tours gave us an overall picture of Belfast and her history. A fabulous city full of intrigue, mystery and secrets. Highly recommended. Steve kindly helped us to find our way to where we needed to be after the tour finished.
The group was very small due to the low season, so we had a relatively quick and a nice tour around the city. The weather was gloomy but our guide was perfect, showed us a lot of places and gave us a great overview of the city and why it is what it is. Thank you a lot for the walk around Belfast, it was a pleasure!
We just attended the best of Belfast tour with Colin. Really lovely guide, very approachable and your experience was really aided by the use of ear pieces to always clearly hear. Would totally recommend. Only piece of feedback is the tour is perhaps a stop or two long and the three hour time could possibly be condensed, the coffee break toward them is quite welcome and might have been more welcome a bit earlier or if the tour was a little shorter.
This was a brilliant tour on our first day in Belfast. Mark was our tour guide and he was absolutely fantastic. So much knowledge and we saw Belfast through different eyes.
