The Black Taxi tour of Belfast was the last experience I had before heading to the airport, wrapping up a 2-week solo trip bopping around Ireland and learning about my family's heritage. I visited the Ulster Museum for the special exhibit on The Troubles, which was very well done, but I now know it barely touched the surface. My tour guide, John, was communicative and picked me up on time. I can unequivocally say that this was THE highlight of my entire trip as it opened my eyes to the Troubles and the gravity of its ongoing nature. I was humbled to discover how little I knew about this and how tense things still are. John started the tour by letting me know we had a lot to pack in and that he'd be sending me loads of pictures and links to further material (which he made good on, and then some). This gave me the ability to put my phone away and be fully present. His personal experience and knowledge is incredible and I'm so grateful to him for sharing that with me. I will absolutely be looking to John on my return trips to Belfast and am so grateful I left feeling a touch more enlightened and with a hunger to learn more. Thank you so much, John! Worth every penny and then some.

This was an experience my wife and I will never forget. Our driver was so good at explaining the History of The Troubles and other parts of history here. We highly recommend this tour to anyone who has roots on this Island.

I had a fantastic black taxi tour of Belfast with John yesterday. He was engaging, incredibly knowledgeable, and offered a thoughtful, balanced perspective on Belfast’s history and the Troubles. Having grown up during the Troubles, John generously shared his own experiences and those of his family and friends, bringing a deeply personal and moving dimension to the tour. We saw so many murals and memorials, each brought to life through John’s stories and insights. I came away with a much deeper understanding of what the people of Northern Ireland have endured and how the past continues to shape life today. This was a highlight of my visit to Belfast. Highly recommend John!

Black taxi tour was as advertised and more! Absolutely incredible history and firsthand account from our driver and guide John. Because he grew up in the time frame, he could also relay personal recollections of the period We gain a new perspective on the rational for the unrest and conflict in Northern Ireland. A fantastic tour that is instrumental in understanding the history of the troubles and the movement for peace in Ireland

The first can was beat up and then broke down with engine failure. We had to wait for a jump start, but that did not work. We then were allowed to go with another taxi for tour. However, the tour was very short. We were told by other groups that the cost should have been around $50 per person. We were way over charged at $204 us dollars for 2 people. We would not recommend. The driver said he would reimburse total price, then it changed to a heavy discount. However, we then were offered airport transfer for free. Our tour last for 10 more days and are not flying out of Belfast. We would like a refund. Thanks!

Brendan was very informative throughout the tour. He did a great job of trying to outline commonalities on both sides of the wall. This is the second black taxi tour that I have taken, and I continue to learn more and more. I would definitely recommend this for anyone visiting Belfast.

Tony was an interesting man who experienced the troubles very personally. He explained things fairly clearly and answered our questions.

When I knew my cruise was stopping in Belfast, I knew a tour of The Troubles and Murals was what I wanted to know more about and see. I had a wonderful private tour with my driver, John, who was knowledgeable, very honest, and gave me both perspectives of the battle. Here it is hours later and there is so much I am still processing. I would definitely do this tour again because there is so much to learn still.

This Black Cabs tour is an excellent way to find your feet and get an introduction to Belfast’s complex history. Our guide Paddy was great! Straight talking, knowledgeable, and keen to share his experiences. He was always happy to answer our question and had some excellent tips for the rest of our stay and onward journey which was above and beyond (Felons, to be sure!). And at an hour and a half we never felt rushed. Thanks Paddy - gold star! Definitely recommend!

Very informative tour. Traveling through parts of Belfast where the “troubles” took place. Our driver was born and raised in this area and shared his first hand experience. Seeing the peace wall murals and the wall that still divides parts of the city was interesting and educational.

John was excellent. Accommodated us to a black cab tour around Belfast. Very knowledgable and informative. Very easy to interact with giving us many of his own experiences living in Belfast. Would absolutely recommend John fantastic person and a great sense of humour.

The tremendously complicated political and religious history of a hundred and more years of Irish history came alive under my driver Brendan;s astute and personal storytelling. A lack Cab tour is the one experience not to be missed in Belfast.
