Itinerary
Tiananmen Square is a free of charge reservation for visitors, but there is a limit on the number of people per day. Moreover, making the reservation is particularly troublesome, and we hope to provide assistance to tourists from all over the world through this compensable service. Tiananmen Square is the largest city center square in the world, a symbol of Beijing, and also the political and cultural center of China. Tiananmen Square is located in the heart of Beijing and can accommodate one million people for grand gatherings. Tiananmen is a must see for tourists. Numerous buildings that serve as national symbols, such as the Monument to the People's Heroes, the National Museum, the Great Hall of the People, the Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, and the Tiananmen Square Tower, are located around Tiananmen Square. The common large-scale celebrations on TV are also held here.

Prepare for a lot of security checks, to this must see location!
It was our fantastic experience of Beijing done thanks to perfect programme and organization. Special thanks to our outstanding guide Jenny. She was our leader and helper, giving a lot of information about Beijing and taking care of us. Unforgettable day!
We went to the sunrise flag raising ceremony. We arranged to be at Gate 3 at 4am for 6:15 sunrise. We waited in line for more than an hour before there was any movement. We got to the square after several security checks by 5:30 and the people were crammed at least 5 deep around the whole viewing area. Apparently they let 10,000 people in for the sunrise ceremony. We were packed like sardines next to the barriers so there was no ability to walk around and get relief. The ceremony itself started just at sunrise with soldiers crossing the bridge and marching to the flagpole. Then with recorded music the flag was raised and then the crowd dispersed. Not interesting enough for the time and discomfort involved.
A very easy and convenient way to buy tickets for attractions in China, especially as tickets are often only released a day in advance. It made the booking process much simpler and less stressful.
I was worried about getting tickets during the busiest holiday of the year and when the tickets already run out quickly so this was perfect for me! Don’t stress about getting the tickets a week before.
Very nice experience Reservation was very easy to book Everything went very smooth We went to The Tianmen tower at 1:30 pm Very less crowded at that time
We had a lovely afternoon visit to Tiananmen Square. There was no need for an early‑morning wake‑up, which was really convenient. The square is enormous and truly breathtaking. We walked around at a relaxed pace, admiring Tiananmen Gate, the Monument to the People’s Heroes and other historic landmarks. The security process was efficient and well‑managed, and the whole area felt safe and orderly. We stayed until late afternoon and watched the flag‑lowering ceremony, which was solemn and touching. This is an unmissable experience for anyone coming to Beijing.
We had a wonderful experience with this Tiananmen Square reservation service. The booking process online was straightforward. There is no tour guide included with this service, so we explored the site entirely on our own, which suited our travel style perfectly. We arrived at the scheduled time, followed the entry instructions provided, and went through security check without any delays or complications. Thanks to this reservation service, we avoided the stress and complexity of arranging the booking by ourselves. We were able to take our time walking around Tiananmen Square, admire the grand architecture, and soak in the special historical atmosphere at our own pace. Everything worked exactly as promised. We are really satisfied and would happily recommend this service to other visitors coming to Beijing.
The security chevk yook two hours and then it wasnt cleat how to get tonthe square so we ended up walking in the Temple Palace and unable to enter the square. We were not able tonget to the square.
This worked perfectly! Sent my info and got a confirmation of the registration a few days before my visit. I don't have WeChat so this was a very convenient way of getting enrolled to visit the square. Take the screenshot with you alongside your passport, I needed both. Went on a Tuesday at 6:50 AM, security line was minimal (1-2 min). Recommend booking the palace museum for the same day, it's easy to go there directly from the square!
The ticket was delivered promptly with a text to confirm. Tiananem Square should be experienced at least once.
This was a great option for last minute booking the night before. It was hard to fill out the official form cause the website would not work consistently. Entry was cumbersome to the square but if it’s on your bucket list then go for it
You cannot walk around everywhere without a ticket. Lots of security checks :-) Was it three or four... Be sure to order the ticket at latest the day before and don't forget to register all visitors passport number.
All arranged smoothly. Guards didn't actually check our id though. Seeing our foreign passports they just waved us through. I wouldn't trust to luck though!
Since I got the entrance tickets from the same tour company (Lily’s Tour) with my other tour, our tour guide, Rita, facilitated and assisted us going through the entrance as well as explaining to us the history of Tiananmen Square before entering.
With the reservation the entry was really easy. You just need enough time to go through all security checks and you can’t enter at the place itself, it’s across the street. We had a 7:30 entry and it wasn’t crowded at all. The place is stunning and very large. If you cross the small bridge to the mausoleum, there is no way back to the place, make sure you’ve seen it all.
Very large famous plaza, go in the mornings before it gets too busy or hot. Walking about the entire square will take ~1 hour
Great service. Note that if you have a Chinese mobile you can get access for free. If you don’t then you’re wasting your time and effort trying to do it on your own. The square has clearly cultural significance, however it was used as a transit route to the entrance of the Forbidden city which is a one way system from the square. Good comms on the ticket process. Note that there are multiple entrances and also checkpoints though it was relatively straightforward in terms of time spent getting in. Would say it’s not the same on a weekend or Chinese holiday.
Important:e-sim, we chat, Ali pay, The forbidden town-one week before online reservation
Great service!. We received the tickets on time and with an ample time window to visit (we went around 4 pm and the queue was pretty short). Be prepared for many security checks before entering though!
Passing through Beijing after a stay in Shanghai, and Tiananmen Square was a must visit on our list. And it definitely should be on yours too. Prepare for tight security and if you are lucky enough, go early…cause the crowd swells into a massive collection quickly. The Square is immense, pristine, with amazing architecture. But for me is the reverence of the location. An experience that is a must visit.
Glad we reserved tickets with Viator to have a smooth entry experience. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait too long to go through security.
Great way to get access to Tianamen square for the flag lowering ceremony. Make sure you bring your passport and Viator voucher to gain access.
The tour operator handled all logistics and even changed my reservation at no cost to the next day when my scheduled was interrupted. Very responsive and responded to messages on trip advisor, then on whatsapp when we had to discuss more details. The cost was extremely reasonable considering it’s impossible to navigate the process without a Chinese phone number and wechat account. Entry and security can be confusing, so make sure you understand which gate your entry reservation is for. You CANNOT go in any gate, your reservation is very specific. And also, as a foreigner you must bring your passport and carry as little with you as possible to make the security checks easier and faster.
Smooth process to secure access to tianeman square. Need to allow queuing time but for ys it was only an hour or so and 3 checks
Visiting Tiananmen Square in Beijing was a good experience. The entry process was straightforward, and we were able to access the area without major difficulties.
Checkpoint after checkpoint. Hours queuing to get in . Hot as hell. Nice big square with architectural buildings of historical and cultural value. Too much trouble searched 10 times in one day a bit ott! Cameras and barriers everywhere.
Tiananmen Sq entry is actually free of charge. However, one must have reservations to enter, and unless one lives there and is Chinese literate, use Viator. Their booking fee is reasonable, reliable, user-friendly and quick.
It was well worth booking the tickets via this method as you do need to have pre-booked tickets to enter the square. Take your passport for entry, print off the booking with the date and number of people on the booking to show staff, and be prepared for many security checks and a long queue on the way in. The tickets worked well and we entered with our passports, but we were asked for the proof booking by staff at the start of the queue as they want to check you have made a booking as you will not get in if you haven't. The staff were really polite and helpful and pointed us to the correct queue. We just booked for Tianamen Square, but there are seperate queses for the Forbidden Palace. There are toilets and vendors at the entrance of the square. Take your own toilet roll and hand sanitiser as with everywhere in Beijing. The square itself is incredible. It felt so surreal standing there knowing all the history of the place. Well worth a visit if you are in Beijing. Lots of locals welcomed us to Beijing and enjoyed the opportunity to speak English to us. We had an interesting couple of hours in the square.
My own fault for not researching the options more carefully. Do NOT choose the main entrance as your entry point - it was an hour and a half wait in a jam packed holding space. I had travelled by train 2 days earlier to Tian’anmen, not realizing a reservation was required. Had I had one at that railway exit entry point, judging by the queue, I would have easily entered in 15-20 minutes. It’s the forensic security search that takes the time (and creates the agonizing - if you have ankle/foot issues - wait) . They were, however, lovely in the checkpoint. Smiling, friendly (the women, not the boys so much, who understandably just looked bored). As I entered I was rewarded with the spectacle of a phalanx of green-coated guards emerging from below ground and marching in formation ahead of me. The experience of being there was clouded by my physical discomfort, so it was hard to feel the exhilaration I’d experienced it in planning the visit. The square is nonetheless indeed imposing - the scale of the buildings, the majesty of the fountains accompanied by operatic singing as you gaze across Chang’an Avenue at Mao’s image on the Gate Tower. There is also grief in those flagstones…I had nothing left for exploring the Palace Museum, but I realized later it’s a constellation of palaces, pavilions and galleries that would be wonderful to explore at leisure. Alas, as it was, I hobbled past the multitude of beautiful traditionally dressed women and men being photographed by the canal, and out into bustling Donghuamen Street and hotel-wards. Another time perhaps, now I know the hacks for streamlining the experience!
Be prepared for the crowds. We arrived before 10am, and there were already many visitors clearing the security checks to enter the square. As we were concerned about the waiting time before we could reach the square, we decided to turn back and proceed to the Forbidden City instead, not wanting to risk our booking for the morning session. It is advisable to plan to visit Tiananmen Square early in the morning, if you are also visiting the Forbidden City.
It was really fast and eficiente and everything worked really well. The team was helpfull to ensure that we get our reservations.
Tickets provided with no issues but long queue to pass through security and associated checks made us wonder if it was worth it.
Go for the flag lowering at sunset each day. Absolutely amazing. Entry is free but must reserve at least 1 day prior. We found tge official government site for reservations just too difficult to navigate as tourists, needs a chinese number to verify ect. Paying the very small fee on trip advisor to make the reservation was well worth it.
This was much easier than trying to navigate the reservation process, definitely worth the few pounds that it cost. The line to get into Tiananmen in August is another story(!), but I'd absolutely book this again.
The tickets worked. The only disappointment is that we waited in line for 2.5 hrs for the security check. Thought that the checks are excessive esp when most only walk the open areas. Will never go again. Not worth the wait. Can just take photos from far.
We went to square with family, not many people were there, big square, clean and beautiful view, well
Really convenient and easy to use, just book it and scan your passport on the day during your time bracket.
Tian'anmen is a wonderful place. Reservation in advance is obligatory and for us it all went well. We provided to the agency our passport information and received the tickets/confirmation of reservation on email. Perfect! Thank you!
Not sure why but the Main Square was shut so we were blocked to one side towards the Forgotten City, huge queue to get there too. Not worth it. However the next day on the way to the train station in a taxi, on passing the Square it was full of people and limited queues at the entrance. We went on a Friday, not sure if there was an event or Froday they close the square.
We were a family of 10 and wanted to visit Tiananmem Square. Found Lily through tripadvisor and arranged with her. She was very helpful and we were able to visit as arranged no problem. Highly Recommend.
Entrance to the Square is free but you need to register online with a Chinese number. So this service is a good solution for tourists. I had to change the date and there was no problem. The registration was checked by the police on site. Be prepared for long queue (mine was 1 hour) and very thorough bag search.
Everything went according to plan. We entered the square several times that day and there was no problem. But they checked the reservation every time, so it is rather difficult to enter without it
This was great to visit. I do wish someone had warned us of the great walking distance. I had elderly parents with me and once we were dropped off we had to follow the one directional flow which was quite a distance.
Extremely well organised. Contacted to verify booking had been completed. Notification received in advance.
It worked well but the weren’t many indications about how to proceed, where exaxtly to go. If you can speak Chinese, you can get this ticket for free on WeChat
Unfortunately, it was raining but we still thoroughly enjoyed walking around. It's well worth the visit.
Great experience. Must see if visiting Beijing. The Square is hugh in size. Attended the flag lowering ceremony at sunset which I highly recommend. Schedule changes everyday and unless you are 6ft tall get there early to secure a front row spot. Make sure to have a reservation and your passport to get in. Wait after the flag lowering for all the buildings to light up. So many photo moments.
Reservation worked as required. Contact was very good, we were kept informed about the reservation status.
