Small Group Tour: Mutianyu Great Wall, Summer Palace & Bird Nest

We had an amazing day on this tour. We had a small group of 8. Our guide, Susie, was fantastic. The early start is worth it as you avoid the crowds on the Wall. We did the chair lift up and the slide/toboggan down - which was great fun. I would highly recommend taking the chair lift up rather than walking. It saves you a lot of time and gives you more time to spend on the wall. Lunch afterwards was delicious. We stopped for a traditional tea ceremony on our way to the Summer Palace, which was fun. Although the Summer Palace was beautiful, it was difficult to appreciate it as it was SO crowded. I would have preferred to have spent an extra hour on the Wall rather than at the Summer Palace due to the crowds. We were at the Palace on a Sunday and the weather was lovely so that may have made it more crowded than normal. Despite the crowds at the Summer Palace, we still had an amazing day and I would highly recommend this tour.

Great experience. Well organised and a must do. Our tour guide Freya was fantastic she gave so much insight and information, loads of knowledge been shared. Even tho it rained she made it as accommodating and comfortable as possible. Highly recommended

Only 4 of us on the tour. Nice small group. SUV was spacious and very nice. Got there early before crowds. Was home by a good time. Restaurant that we stopped at was super yum

We joined the Small Group Tour to the Mutianyu Great Wall, Summer Palace and Bird’s Nest, and Kevin was an excellent guide throughout the day. He explained each site clearly and in an interesting, engaging way that made the history easy to follow and enjoyable. The tour was well organised, the pacing was comfortable, and Kevin ensured we both understood the significance of each location without overwhelming us with information. His calm manner and thoughtful explanations added a lot to the experience. We highly recommend both this tour and Kevin as a guide.

Super nice tour with Greater Wall and Summer Palace. Our guide Susie was amazing, very supportive and her Englisch is excellent. Furthermore she had a good knowledge and was able to answer a lot of questions. Pick up (out of 2nd ring) went also well.

A friend of mine recommended this tour as I wasn’t disappointed. The booking process was simple and the pick up was simple and on time. You’re sent clear instructions about the pick up the day before. They were also able to fulfil my request to sit at the front of the van which was great. The Great Wall is amazing and you’ve got enough time to explore the wall yourself. I booked the tour with the cable car - recommended - and there is the option of the toboggan down but I chose the cable car. Lunch is included and it was very good feed with plenty of it. The Summer Palace was crowded (to be expected at this time of year) but really interesting and it was a good tour. Keith, our guide, was friendly, welcoming and knowledgable. He made sure we were safe and had the best experience during the trip. I’d highly recommend this trip.

This was the best tour I had in Beijing! It was great not being tied down to a group. Wendy knew all the great photo spots and where the entry lines were most likely to be the shortest, and her English is very good and I appreciated her knowledge of the various sites. The subway travel was awesome too!

We had a fantastic day with a small group and an amazing guide. Everything went smooth, great tour and a lot of fun. Lunch was also very delicious. It was a perfect combination of great wall and summer palace.

The small group tour with Keith was good overall. The brief informations provided about the Hreat Wall and the Summer Palace were useful, the lunch was delicious. I did not feel comfortable sitting at the back with two other guests separated from my mother. We were not given the option to take boat ride at the Summer Palace although the tour ended by 3 pm.

The tour was fantastic, and Keith was very welcoming and an excellent tour guide. Thanks to this trip, we avoided the crowds and were almost completely alone at the Great Wall. Just a few hours later, it became extremely crowded, so the early start was definitely worth it. We stopped at a restaurant for lunch, and the food was delicious. The entire trip was comfortable, well organized, and luxurious. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a more peaceful and enjoyable Great Wall experience. One small suggestion for improvement would be to include more information about China, its history, and the Great Wall during the drive. A short 5–10 minute video or presentation would add valuable context and make the experience even better.

Incredible experience and worth every penny. The tour guide was called Keith who was brilliant. He educated us, gave us space to explore and brought humour to the tour. The lunch was really good. Definitely do The great Wall early as the crowds build quickly. We came down at 11am to find the queue to go up was 2hours long. We had no queue.

We went with a small group. All went very well and the tour was organized. Guide/driver a Keith was attentative and willing to assist with anything. Would definitely recommend this activity!

Picked up - one less hassle. Comfortable vehicle. Good knowledge and explanations. The Wall was excellent, take good walking shoes. Lunch was also excellent. If over 60 you’re not allowed on the luge 😢. Passport you must take. Dropped back at the hotel. Definitely worthwhile.

This is a must do experience for anyone travelling to Beijing. Beforehand the communication and set up was 5 star giving clear instructions and pick up times The driver was good and friendly and the guide was very knowledgeable. Got to the wall before the crowds so we were fully immersed in it's grand surroundings Lunch was fantastic Summer palace was very busy but a fantastic end to the day Overall a great introduction to the history of this amazing city Thank you!!!!!

The tour to the Great Wall was great—no complaints there. That said, be cautious if you're suggested a tea ceremony. First off, it's not a traditional one; it's more of a tasting session. Second, they'll push you to buy tea afterward, but it's wildly overpriced—city prices are way cheaper.

Great experience at Mutianyu Great Wall and Summer Palace! Stunning views and there was no crowd when we got there. The walk along the wall was unforgettable and the ride down with the toboggan was super fun. . Our guide Keith was friendly, knowledgeable, and spoke English really well, making the trip smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Was a bucket list trip to the Great Wall , the other sites Tiananmen Square & Forbidden city were interesting too and Susie our tour guide was terrific , she went above and beyond to make our day special.

It was a great day with our wonderful guide, Yanna. She did everything to make it an informative and pleasant day. The first stop was the Great Wall where we had plenty of time to explore. The group went up to the wall on a chair lift and had the choice of coming down via chair lift or toboggan. Being on the wall was the highlight of the day. It wasn't crowded and the weather was stunning. The lunch was delicious, with a large variety of dishes available. The main activity of the afternoon was the visit to the Summer Palace. The grounds were beautiful and Yanna expertly guided us through them. Thanks again to Yanna and the driver for a great day.

I came to Luohu in Shenzhen with my best friend, because I saw a lot of delicious food at the East Gate of Luohu on the Internet. I stayed in this hotel. The breakfast in the hotel was very good. We met Joyce. My little sister was very kind and enthusiastic. When we came to the restaurant for dinner, she recommended us a lot of delicious food, especially stinky tofu, which was very delicious. Keith made sure we got to the Great Wall before it was crowded which was so smart because as we were coming down the line was so long vs we didn’t even wait in one on the way up! He also took us to a testimonial tea tasting on our way back down. And on the tour around the summer palace he shared a lot of knowledge and fun stories about the dragon lady and the history surrounding the area! Highly recommend booking this for your Great Wall adventure, and just be ready for a long day filled with things to see!

Grat trip, and very informative guide! Was perfect weather and got to go sliding even though it was late december! The tour in summer palace was also amazing, was way bigger than i imagined!

Had a fabulous time, the tour was almost private and we had the great wall all to ourselves We beat the crowds, lunch and a tea ceremony were included, we ended up at the summer palace. The best tour to the great wall if you want to skip the crowds. Keith was extremely knowledgeable and friendly

The perfect small group day tour! I don’t do many tours as a solo female traveler, but this one was so worth it. Super convenient and got a lot out of the experience, and also loved how you get time to explore on your own on the wall. We were basically the only ones up there when we arrived, which really added to the experience. The summer palace was also a big highlight of my China trip, just beautiful. Highly recommend!

Two hours after leaving a quiet and memorable Great Wall Tour with Kieth, thousands and thousands lined up on cheaper tours for a terrible experience. My tour was thr best...Great pictures. Few crowds. Summer Palace is always crowded, but we had fast access.

Fantastic experience. Keith our driver got us there early and we missed all the crowds. Loved the gondola ride and toboggan down. The wall was amazing and Keith had organised a fantastic lunch for us as well. Then he guided us around the Summer Palace. He was an excellent guide.

Keith was a really good and pedagogical guide with clear instructions on meeting times, etc. The early start from the hotel made sure we had a really good experience at the Great Wall without too many people. Keith excellently adapted our walking through the Summer Palace when, either due to many people or due to rain, we could not go the regular way.

Keith was a great tour guide. He gave us some good background about the Great Wall and guided us through all the logistics of the visit before giving us free rein to climb and explore the Wall as we pleased. I also appreciated that he started the tour early in the day because we were able to beat all the crowds. His tour of the Summer Palace was very humorous and provided such interesting history. He offered various options of what highlights we could visit within the humongous palace area so that we could pick what to prioritize. The van experience was also incredibly comfortable and convenient.

Great Wall and summer palace, very good combination for one day tour, relaxing, not too much walking. Loved this tour, small gorup size, 5 people, very comfortable with a 7 seats van. Our tour guide is very nice as well, very helpful, and knowledgeable, provided lots of information about the attractions. We had lots of fun during the tour, highly recommended！

We beat the traffic and crowds. Sunday morning Comfy limo, small group. Even got dropped off at a theatre for acrobat at the end which was fabulous

Great tour with Suzi who fast tracked us to the great wall entrance, with the cable car lift and a thorough walk through the Summer Palace. She took us to a tea house for tea tasting. It was quite good. Extremely punctual pick up from the hotel and equally well timed drop off. It was great that with the peak travel season, everything went exactly to plan.

Had a great time. Tour had to be changed due to a military parade but they handled it well. Suzie, our guide, was excellent. Full of fun and enthusiasm. Met loads of new people, saw the Wall, had a fab day 🙂

The tour had to be changed at the last minute because the Mutianyu section was closed due to bad weather. Keith quickly arranged an alternative at a smaller, much less crowded section of the Wall, which turned out to be a great experience. His English is excellent. For lunch, however, we were taken to a large jade shop with an attached restaurant clearly intended for sales purposes. This stop was not mentioned in the program, and had we known in advance, we would have preferred to avoid it.

We had a fantastic time on our tour. Keith was friendly, patient and educational! We learned so much from him about the Great Wall and Summer Palace. We were in great hands for the whole day.
