Small Group Morning/sunset Of 6km Hiking Jinshanling Great Wall

Everything was on time and well organised. The guide, Jacky was very nice, helpful and knowledgeable. Instructions were clear and the Jinshanling section hike was amazing! Beautiful and also challenging, but not too tough. The sunset tour was perfect.

This was the highlight of my time in Beijing. It was such a good walk along the wall, and nice to go to Jinshanling where there was hardly anyone else. Jackie was a great guide with good English and a sense of humour. There are quite a lot of steps and ups and downs, so a reasonable level of fitness is necessary. Take water and snacks as there’s not much to buy there. We all really loved the experience.

Jackie was very informative and was a great guide. This section of the wall itself is amazing and I’d definitely be back to do it again.

I would totally recommend this trip! The directions regarding place of pick-up were super detailed, place hard to miss. Guide was very friendly and gave us some good intro about Great Wall and the part we were heading. Communication with him was super easy and he replied in less than minute. The trip was great, place where we were hiking - almost no people. Just remember to not hike too fast, 12/10 😉

I loved the great wall and Jinshaling is really a lovely part - we were almost alone on the wall! Just be aware that the guide only drops you at the start, shows/explains you a map and picks you up at the end. maybe you could also just rent a driver with a car.

Truly fabulous. Very few tourists there, which made the experience so much better. A fair few steps to climb but that was also good.

The walk was great. Quiet and peaceful along the first section of the wall. The walk itself is very steep in places with a lot of steps. Youve got heaps of time so you don't really need to be that fit, but If you've got bad knees be prepared for a bit of pain. The bus ride is pretty unpleasant. Small minibus. built for people who are about 5ft tall. Took 3 hours to get there and about 2.5 back. We were unlucky in that some selfish European tourist decided to bring their hacking COVID plague cough on the bus. No mask. Coughed all the way there and back. Probably made everyone on the bus sick. In hindsight would get a private taxi. More expensive but much less likely to get the plague.

Amazing to hike the great wall, if you aren’t fit or able to hike then i definetly wouldn’t do this, but it was great and the tour guide on the bus was nice

Genuinely breathtaking. Despite visiting on a weekend I found the Jinshanling section to be very quiet with beautiful scenery. I had plenty of sections to myself. No cable cars or big tour groups, the extra travel time from Beijing relative to nearer sections is definitely worth it. You do need a decent degree of fitness/leg strength. I counted 1220 steps from car park up to wall and then the 6km hike is very up and down with quite some scrambling. In 30 degree heat expect to consume at least 1.5l of water though water is for sale at some of the towers. Genuinely one of the most special places I have ever been in the world.

The whole experience was amazing!! The pick-up was easy and perfeclty on time. Jackie was so knowledgeable, kind and helpful. This section of the wall is absolutely gorgeous but not easy on the knees as there is a lot of ups and downs. It was very quiet as well which is amazing!

Great way to see the great wall. You get to walk in your own (very relaxed) pace and explore, and see both restored an unrestored sections, with great views of the wall and the surrounding mountains in the beautiful afternoon light, without too many other people. Its far from Beijing but worth it in my opinion. Some sections are steep with missing stones. A lot of people gather for the sunset so that part is not the most calm, but still great. Good guide who ensured that everything worked out, and otherwise let people go on their own just as advertised.

It was AWESOME, have not seen other parts of the wall but I definitely feel like I made the right decision. I had originally booked the normal day tour, which got canceled because of a thunderstorm and the wall was closed. But Jackie reached out via WeChat (was easier than via TripAdvisor, he mentioned during the tour that what's app would have been possible as well, but I cannot confirm for myself). Anyways we rescheduled to a day later to the sunset tour and it was gorgeous. Definitely recommend. Everything worked super smooth: pick up at the start and end of the tour and the guide made extra sure that no one got lost. He gave a few Infos on the wall and the tour but walking was on our own, so we could enjoy the view at our own pace (we walked at a chill pace, stopped several times and were still an hour too early at the sunset spot in the end). You should be fine walking uneven terrain but it is worth it. Go try it out!

This tour went very well for us. We were contacted the day before to organise the pickup for the next morning. Pickup was an easy location to find, all straightforward and well organised. The actual tour also went well, with an amazing 6km walk on the Great Wall. Something we've wanted to do for many years. It's an incredible place and well worth visiting. Dropped off again at the end of the day in the same pickup location. Would fully recommend this tour for those who want to see a long stretch of the wall, and also avoid the crowds at the wall locations that are closer to the city.

This was such an amazing experience. The view from the Wall was truly breathtaking and it was amazing to avoid the crowds that you can find at other sections. I would say you need to be in very good physical condition because it’s a challenging hike, with lots of up and down stairs and steep parts. But it’s all worth it. Thank you to our guide Jackie!

The sunset tour to the Jinshanling section of the Great Wall was amazing. There were very few tourists on the wall which made the experience even better. Our tour guide Jackie was really nice. He even gave us a certificate at the end. Would definitely do it again!

It was an incredible experience. The weather was cloudy, so there was no beautiful sunset but it was perfect to hike and I was for many parts of the wall all on my own. Some parts of the wall aren‘t restored here which makes it even more special. Also, Jackie was a great driver who speaks very good English!

Jackie was really kind, the driving was smooth and efficient! We were almost alone during the entire hike, we saw about 20 tourists total (perfect for pictures) The itinerary was perfect and we really felt like it was authentic! Jackie was waiting for us at the meet-up location for the sunset and we were the only person there!

Jackie explained everything in advance and everything went smoothly. Steep climb to top as expected, then a lovely sunset. Take sunscreen and food (lots of sun and did not get back to hotel until 11pm).

Incredible experience, highly recommend

Our trip to Jinshanling was fantastic. Our guide took us to a less traveled route where we got to climb the unrestored part of the wall without a lot of other tourists. He clearly explained the route we needed to take and the ride to and from the wall was comfortable.

Challenging hike with spectacular views and no crowds. Wear appropriate shoes and enjoy the Great Wall from Jinshaling entry. Highly recommend!

There are no words to describe the incredible value of this experience- it was unreal. But, do be prepared to climb up/down a lot of stairs and descend steep slopes.

Amazing experience. The trip was perfectly plan, we were completely free to go at our own pace. This part of the Great Wall was incredibly beautiful and not crowded at all, as it is a bit far from Beijing city center.

Pack light and bring lots of water, and snacks. I love the be in your own pace hike. We had arrived plenty of time to the spot to see the awesome sunset. Definitely a recommend.

This was a great tour, Jackie was very friendly and helpful! The sunset was incredible and the Great Wall is one of the most amazing places I’ve seen. Definitely wear good walking shoes, some of the stairs are very steep and some of the downhill can be a little slippery. Would recommend this to anyone.

We had four hours on the wall and did not Meet a lot of people. Recomend this if you want to avoid crowds. Driver was excelent.

Jinshanling is definitely the best place to see the Great Wall. I booked the tour just for myself last week and wanted to make sure beforehand I’d be going with other travelers too. Viator provided excellent support and answered all my questions. After I booked the tour, Zachary created a direct communication chat for further questions on wechat. I also got beforehand the telephone number and name of our driver, who made sure I got all the information I needed. A super reliable tour!

The Jinshanling in the afternoon is the best option. Without knowing about it we had good shots without many people. In it you will find stops to refresh and continue and at the end of the tour there are very colorful events at night. Zachary was Always replying by WhatsApp and asking if it Everything was fine.

Zack and his friend as our guides were A+. These guys didn’t just drive us... they worked the magic. Zack took us to the "hard" part of the Wall where the views are insane... no people!.. and he made the whole day smooth. At one point, seeing a Chinese police checkpoint ahead, he literally hopped out, grabbed our passports, and handled it in advance — saving us about 10 minutes of waiting in traffic. Total pro move.

I would give them more than 5 stars! Jackie was really kind and we had a great time. I totally recommend this activity and this section of the Great wall, not crowded at all and the views are incredible.

Very good tour to Jinshanling part of the Great Wall. Small group in one car makes the drive comfortable and being able to hike the wall yourself is also good!

This is a beautiful part of the wall to visit, offering a great 6km hike, and fewer crowds than parts of the wall closer to Beijing. Jackie was a great driver, and it was very convenient to hire someone if you’re short on time as this part of the wall is 2-2.5 hours from Beijing.

Very nice and caring guidance. When you come to Beijing, you have to do this excursion. Good shoes are recomendet and be prepared to make many pictures.

If you want to explore an uncrowded section of the Wall, this tour is for you. The pick-up was on time and the time they give you to explore the Wall is more than enough. On the day I booked, only 3 other passengers were going so it was quite comfortable. Our driver had very limited English (like mine hahaha) but it was not difficult to communicate with him. 100% recommended

So glad we chose this excursion. The tour company reached out to us immediately to confirm our pick up time. They arrived exactly as scheduled. Jackie and Mr. Zhang picked us up along with 5 others. The drive was 2.5 hours in a comfortable air conditioned van with WiFi. Jackie gave us a map and guided us to the entrance of the Great Wall. He explained where to exit and they would be waiting to pick us up. The views were absolutely amazing. There are vendors along the way if you need water, soda, beer, etc. This section lacked crowds and kids so this was a huge plus for us! You have plenty of time to take photos and rest, but be prepared for the long walk down when you exit. We made it out with 1 minute to spare at our meet up time. Just FYI if you have are not physically fit or have knee, ankle, hip problems, we do not recommend.

Good communication beforehand with Zachary the guide. Was picked up on time and the coach was comfortable. A very different walk to Mutianyu and would highly recommend as not busy. Sturdy shoes and a walking stick were a great help.
