Noon Calligraphy Class

Our experience was so lovely! We were greeted at our meeting spot with happy smiles, jasmine tea and we were lucky enough to have a very intimate and private class. Richard taught us how to write four different phrases in a Chinese calligraphy style and even taught us how to write our own names! At the end we wrote a phrase on a beautiful card that we were able to take home aswell our own calligraphy pen that we were given as a gift!

Richard is SUCH a great resource! We had to keep our class short but in that time we saw improvement of our skill and learned a lot about Chinese Calligraphy culture/philosophy. It was a peaceful environment and there were only a couple of us so we got a lot of hands on assistance and help. He’s a true master that has been doing this for 38 years. Definitely give it a try if you’re in Beijing. We had such a good time!

You need this class and you don’t even know it. It felt like an authentic experience which is what I was looking for. Richard was so calm and patient with me and by the end of the session, I felt so calm. Do it for the fun. Do it for the tranquility.

This was my first time doing calligraphy and it was a great experience! The teacher Richard was really informed and really helpful. I learned a lot in just a 45 minute session. I would definitely book another session with him the next time I am in Beijing. 10/10 class. I even got to leave with my own canvas and my own brush as a gift!

The passion for calligraphy of the teacher shines through. The mood of the class was light hearted. As the group settles down from the excitement, we switched to a calming mood. The simplicity of learning to write again and feeling our brushes move on the surface of paper. Definitely recommend.

The instructions to find the class were very good and in the class, there was lots of guidance, practice and tea. Technique was explained clearly and I was able to produce some good looking calligraphy. But more practice needed.

Very inspiring and relaxing activity to do if you are in beijing! Highly recommended. Very relaxing and informative. You'll learn how to hold the brush and how to use it correctly physicly and mindfully. It's also very easy to book and plan the time for the activity so it's fits your schedule perfectly.

My uncle and I loved this experience with the master Richard! Richard was an amazing teacher and person. We enjoyed his passion and his knowledge in this area. I´m not tourist and have lived in Beijing for many years but this was my first experience with this Chinese artist. I would definitely recommend this class. What a meaningful way to spend my time in Beijing. By far THE BEST part of my trip!! In just an hour I felt more at peace with myself and learned the foundations of calligraphy. This class was perfect for beginners like myself. The instructor, Richard, was such a harmonious and kind being. He was very knowledgeable and just spending the time with him alone was well worth the class. The class was set in a very safe, quiet and clean environment. Its location was central to many other cultural sites and activities. NOT AN EXPERIENCE TO MISS :) A MUST FOR YOUR NEXT VISIT TO BEIJING.

We had an amazing time :-) it was very instructive but also fun! Richard is kind, patient, and his calligraphies are beautiful! I found just watching him write especially interesting. Amazing teacher, very fun class where you learn so much about beginners calligraphy. The class is well structured, but you feel relaxed, which is the point of calligraphy. You are also offer traditional Chinese tea. If you are ever in Beijing. take this class, you learn so much both from the class, and the teacher, who has amazing lessons on life and happiness. Take this class, you will regret it if you don’t :)

A great class where you learn the basics and get to hear about the history of calligraphy by a truly deficated teacher. Practise, practise! We had a lot of fun in the class.

If you want to take a master - a calligraphy class in Beijing , there is a proven version for 2026. Clear location . A punctual and polite teacher. Quite a lesson. The brushes and photos were a gift.

we worked a lot with the brush ourselves in the course and were allowed to take our artwork home at the end. There was tea and the teacher took pictures of us and sent us these. A successful workshop.

Perfect time, to learn calligraphy relaxing all this with a small tea in Welcoming! I recommend this moment to share with two or more!

We did this activity as a couple and enjoyed ourselves during our visit to Beijing. Our host was welcoming and kind. We were able to leave after 30min with a work each and a brush as a gift. We highly recommend!

Pleasant and interesting first experience of calligraphy. Richard is a patient and likeable teacher. I would recommend considering the two-hour course, we only did one hour and it flew.

We had an hour of lessons with Richard who taught us the basics of calligraphy (how to hold the brush, what movements to do etc...). It was very relaxing and interesting, super recommended

Great experience to discover calligraphy with a meditative and culturally interesting side. The place is also nice in a stationery/library with tea.

Serious, essential and well conducted course. Master Lee drives with precision and calm, without rhetoric. The practice is silent and concentrated, almost meditative, but always concrete. Great for those looking for rigor and presence, no frills. I recommend at least two hours.
