Mutianyu Great Wall Private Tour, Vip Fast Pass

I was incredibly disappointed with this tour from start to finish. This was my first time booking through TripAdvisor, and I chose this tour because of the positive reviews. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. Pricing Confusion: The tour was listed as “from $169,” so I was surprised to find $299 USD charged to my Visa, which amounted to $427.92 CAD. That’s a significant amount, and I expected an exceptional experience in return, but that wasn’t the case. Poor Guide Quality: The tour description led me to believe I’d be visiting a prominent section of the Great Wall. However, the section we visited was much shorter and seemed less impressive. The guide did not offer a proper tour experience; I couldn’t understand much of what she said, and she barely engaged with me. I noticed other guides were highly attentive, explaining things, taking photos for visitors, and keeping high energy. I received none of that. Being Left Alone: After taking the cable car, my guide asked if it was okay for me to walk alone, which I assumed meant it was a short distance. I ended up walking the Wall entirely by myself, with no guidance, no information, and no one to help take photos. To make matters worse, I accidentally took a wrong route and got lost, climbing a different trail meant for another tour. My messages to the guide failed to send, and I was left feeling isolated and frustrated. Guide’s Response: When I mentioned this to the guide afterward, she said that other visitors had paid more to have the guide stay with them, which felt absurd given the high amount I had already paid. Poor Food Quality: The food was low quality, and I even found a hair in it, which was very disappointing. Overall, this was a frustrating experience, especially as it was supposed to be a special way to celebrate my birthday. I left feeling scammed, having paid extra for an experience that fell far short of expectations. If you’re a solo traveler, I recommend avoiding this tour. Visit the Great Wall at Badaling on your own , take Didi to ensure a better experience.

I had a 21 hour layover in Beijing. I was very happy to find out about the transfer Visa and then the availability of tours. I was able to request an early pick up time at my hotel (and I could've requested a pick up at the airport too) to make it back in time for my afternoon flight. I was a tiny bit nervous as a solo female traveler. I LOVED IT! I'm so happy I did this. Edward, my guide, showed up on time and started with the history immediately. Took time to answer all my questions. Very friendly and will definitely recommend to anyone who asks. I not only saw the Great Wall but learned so much about the history. Thank you Edward for your hospitality and making sure everything was taken care of. Do this if you can. You will be happy you did.

Very good organized tour. Guide was very helpful. Gave us a lot of interesting information about places we were visiting. It was not only Great Wall but also Ming Tombs and jade factory and tea shop.

It was a really beautiful day full with history. The guide Jackson was very kind he answered all the questions. And he make sure we would get on the right way back home. I would totally recomend it.

Accommodated our last minute booking, let us stop at a bank on the way to the wall, experience as described. The driver picked us up from our hostel and parked at the carpark to the wall. Driver then came in with us and organised our coach tickets (we elected to pay for these when we booked) and showed us the way to the coach. Were given 4hrs to do whatever we wanted and return to the van. Great experience , let us do our own thing, very convenient. Would do again.

Henry was a perfect host and guide. He gave us a great history of the wall on our trip to the wall, then seamlessly guided us up to the cable car and walked with us along the trip up and down the wall, even helping some that needed a little extra support. The whole trip went well from start to finish thanks to Henry Chung.

We booked a one day tour of Tianenman Sq, Forbidden City and the Great Wall - very worth the money! Our host Christina was kind and courtious, and ensured we were safe and together. She also spoke great English! It was a small group of approx. 10-12 people and we had ample time to visit the sites and take in the history. Would recommend and would do another when back in Beijing.

Try 1 day Mutianyu Great Wall. We took private tour non shopping It was excelent! Our guide helps us in everything, from buying tickets (Ming's tomb included) till usefull details on climbing the wall.

Had a wonderful experience visiting the Great wall. Edward was a great guide, on time, professional and very knowledgeable. He ensured a smooth trip to Great Wall and shared precious info and suggestion. Strongly recommend!!!

Lee was our guide, contacted us night before with pickup time, and met us at our Hutong.(recommend that too). Shared history recommended we do the chairlift (so glad) and bought tickets etc. Plenty of time and not too busy. We have been to Badaling and the crowd is like a stampede. Also Lee dropped us near the night market and told us about the MTR . We travelled like locals.

we have our frist wonderful experienced visiting great wall on cloudy then rainy day , but it didn't wash away our spirit , memorable family trip with good travel tour agency .

My tour guide Kathy was excellent and attentive to all my needs. She waited for me at the airport for hours while I navigated through Peking airport and was a treasure trove of history knowledge. Definitely do the tobaggon slide on the way down! It’s tons of fun.

We had an awesome experience with Henry the tour guide. He was very punctual and kept us up to date with all activities throughout the day. All questions we had was very well answered. He even act as our personal photographer and was VERY helpful even if it was something very small. Thank you to Henry and the company he works for china.net

The bus picked us up on time and was comfortable enough. Our guide Chris was very informative and although it was incredibly hot, we had a great day. The main reason for our tour was the Great Wall but we really enjoyed the Jade Factory as well. Lunch was provided after we went up the wall and was delicious. Definitely worth it :) PS make sure you do the toboggan back down the mountain, its tonnes of fun :)

We are portuguese and booked the trip by the booking tool several weeks before. On arriving at Beijing we confirmed our address and our selfphone. The day before we got a writen message in english at our appartment that was left at the reception by the guide informing all the steps we should take to meet the group. He left a message like this: leaving from the south gate from your Suites, turn left, walk for 500mt, turn right and meet by Hotel ** at 7:20h. It was perfect! All the trip was very interesting, leaving us time to enjoy the Great Wall and all places visited. By lunch time was served a nice buffet and on the afternoon the Tea Ceremony was a magical moment. Greatly recommended!

Chinatour gives its best from the organizational stage, with website and app working great. The night before you will find at reception an envelope containing instructions for the next morning (pick up time and place). Personally I travelled in a very comfortable 8-seater minibus with air conditioning, we stopped at a small shop / jade factory (there is no obligation to buy), then once we arrived at the wall the guide (who speaks good English and in the meantime had explained a little 'the history of the wall) bought tickets for us and pointed us to the meeting place for lunch. We went up with the chairlift and once on the wall we were free to go around where we wanted (there are also small dining options), the only agreement was to meet at a certain time at the restaurant below (say more a trattoria with really good local cuisine), drinks are not included in the price. I recommend the descent via toboggan, really fun!! Whether or not you use the sledge to get off the ticket price does not change (so if it rains you are screwed). Would stay there again tomorrow!

Hire the guided tour is the best thing, it is all away and nobody speaks English, so I recommend the tour if you only have 1 day in small.
