Mutianyu Great Wall 5-kilometer Guided Hike With Uphill Cable Car

This was a great tour which allowed us to really explore the whole section of the Wall. Martin was an excellent and informative guide!

My family and I really enjoyed ourselves at the Great Wall last Sunday, and the tour guide, Mr. Mike was very helpful and patient. He explain very well how to navigate the different parts of the Great Wall so that we could have a great time there. Would definitely recommend anyone to consider this MuBus tour package if they are planning to come Beijing.

This off-the-tourist-path hike gives you an amazing experience. Step away from the crowds through a side passage and walk through the bush along unrepaired sections of the wall. Our guide Taka was fabulous, even producing an unexpected refreshment along the way. The chair lift up to the wall and toboggan ride down add fabulous aspects to the adventure. Do note there are a LOT of steps, and one needs to be fit to enjoy.

Well organized. The trek was challenging but we’re glad we saw all 20 watchtowers. Cici was great guide, always smiling and happy to answer any question. The buffet lunch was tasty with many options.

The bus was easy to find and located outside of a 7-11 which is convenient to grab breakfast and lunch. Claire provided great service and suggested for activities after the tour.

Given the price of the tickets for this, I was expecting a shabby old bus to drop me off somewhere near the wall and leave me to it on my own. On the contrary, Mubus was extremely helpful from the first moment, from having someone at the Beijing metro stop indicating me where to go to find the bus to providing us with a bus tour guide who spoke excellent English. Our tour guide was Claire, who was fantastic. Beyond providing the standard historical information expected of any tour guide (which I was not even expecting to get), Claire was very communicative and helpful. She clearly delineated the various options for climbing the wall and even gave us tips for things to do nearby the bus stop after we returned to Beijing. I didn't hesitate for a second in giving 5 stars, and highly recommend this service to anyone considering visiting the Mutianyu Great Wall. I also highly recommend this part of the wall. I have not been to Badaling, but Mutianyu was breathtaking and the number of other tourists there was totally manageable. In fact, if you get to tower 20 and go a little further you are practically on your own. Was an awesome experience.

When I arrived Subway exit C near Swissotel Hotel Beijing, I saw my tour guide, Mike. Amazing that he can speak E well because alittle bit person can speak E in Beijing. Im travel alone, but he hepls me buy cable car ticket. I have enjoying solo time with my tripod. Tks you so much, Mike, to your information you say when we're in car. Very informative during bus trip to the wall, have us inside tips on shopping and informed us about high prices before and offered much cheaper pricing to water (turned out to be super true thank god), extremely helpful and made our experience as frictionless as possible! The lunch place he recommended was also more affordable and very delicious! Def recommend MUBUS!!!

Tony was very informative, helpful, and a great tour guide. He was able to make sure that nobody in the group got lost, showed us where the meeting points and restrooms were, and made sure to let us know the rules and guidelines at the Wall. He is always smiling and Mubus tours also sells affordable beverages on the bus so travelers don't have to buy expensive drinks at the Wall. He told witty jokes, provided history about China, and gave suggestions about affordable shopping spots. I would highly recommend Tony as your guide.

Bought the bus ticket to & from the Great Wall. We arrived at a good time...before lines were long and managed to get onto the cable cars quickly. Michael got the entry and cable cars tickets so we didn’t have to wait in another line for that. Michael was great & was a great help. I recommend MUBUS

We have a great time and the driver Fred is fantastic. He gave us honest advice . Fred speaks very good English and very funny.

Wan dan was an excellent guide and spoke very well in English and Manderin. The wall was very impressive and the stories told on the bus were worth listening to. We had an excellent time apart from when a baby was sick on the bus but of course, it cannot be helped. Baby sick normal.

I'm in Beijing for 1 Day Just to see the great wall of China and i booked this tour just yesterday. Our tour guide Michael is a nice guy who told us all the information in Chinese and English. Our guide was Clare. She was really nice and explain everything very clear. Although, in the las minuts in the bus, she told us a story aboutthe crear wall and recommend us a huntoung to visitar after we have arrived. I recommend totally this experiencia and even better with Clare.

I booked the afternoon tour which stars at 12noon. Arrival between 11.30-12 with departure soon after 12. I did my booking from Mubus website, no need to pay in advance. Our guide was Claire (her English name), very nice and knowledgeable. She was very detailed during the explanation on the bus to the wall (a kid was keeping speaking very loudly so I missed some of the info), but definitely a tour to recommend. Claire was very organized and everything was planned to avoid any waste of time. Once at the wall she came up with me for about 40 minutes to deliver a short tour on the wall. Once again she was very detailed and interesting myths and legends were told along with real facts about the wall. After that, I had my time on my own to walk and climb up for a good while. The scenery was breathtaking and it is just a jump into the past. It's just a day to enjoy and definitely Claire and Mubus made it so. Really recommend, also for the fair price. I paid 200 yuan for bus, shuttle bus, ticket and guided tour of 40 minutes. Extra I paid 120 yuan for cable cart. Total 320 yuan, approximately £35.

The trip was smooth from start to finish. The guide, Michael, approached us at the pick-up point so there was no confusion. On the bus he explained a little bit about the history of Mutianyu and about the great wall in general, which really contributes to one's appreciation of the wall as you hike it. It was wonderful to go and have the free time to take the hike at our own pace too. The whole trip felt very well organised.

We joined the Mubus for day tour to Mutianyu Great Wall. Our bus departed at 7:30 am from the meeting place close to subway line 2 at Dongsishitiao stop, and we arrived Great Wall at 9am. This was perfect as there was less traffic on the road. By the time we got there, we didn’t have to wait in line to get on cable car, which allowed more time to tour and climb the wall. The tour allowed 5 hours to tour and climb the wall, which is sufficient for climb the wall all the way to tower 20. Our tour guide Michael speaks fluent English, and he is very helpful and courteous. It was overall a well organized tour and great experience.

We had a great trip going to the Wall with Fred as our guide. The bus went staight to the wall and back again without stopping at shops, the guide (Fred) was very energic and helpfull and the Mutianyu was a great area to visit! Not to crowded and if you go beyond tower 20, you will have the wall almost on your own.

The Bus picked us on time and at the described spot. We had a great Day with our tour Guide Steven(Mr. GAO) He shortened the bus ride from Beijing to Mutianyu with a brief and entertaining introduction into the history of the great wall. He also bought us some tickets which is really nice if you aren't familiar with the Chinese language. The Great Wall at Mutianyu itself is very impressive and it is definitly worth to come and to try the Slideway (included in the open cable car ticket)

It was a awesome visit to Great Wall Mutiyanyu . Steven is an amazing English tour guide. His clear instructions and extraordinary efforts to buy tickets for the whole group made our trip really effortless and easy to navigate. The hike to Great Wall is definitely a worth doing activity. Having a great tour service and guide just made it even more memorable for us.

I booked this tour because I didn't want to pay for a guide or a private car, but I also didn't feel confident about taking public transit with transfers. The bus meets on the corner near the Swissotel, but not on the grounds. There was a woman holding a MuBus sign for those exiting the subway. I showed my ticket from TripAdvisor and hopped on the bus. It was clean and smoke-free. I happened to be the only English speaking person, so the tour guide spoke for a long while on the way up there in Mandarin. About 30 minutes before arrival, she walked around and took payment for entry tickets, cable car rides or lift/toboggan rides. I chose to do the entry and the cable car. You can hike to the top, but I wanted to save time and make sure I got to the top of guardhouse 20. The cable car takes you to the highest of the 3 options. Claire, the guide, spoke excellent English and was very kind in making sure I knew where everything was and what was going on. She pulled me aside and gave me my own quick mini-presentation about the wall's history before we arrived and she gave me her phone number, if I ran into any problems. I walked about 5 miles up on the wall and came down a little early. The bus waits in a lot with a restaurant, so many folks grabbed a snack there before our return.

We are from Mexico and booked with Mubus via the Internet, our tourist guide was Lió a boy of Chinese origin, very attentive by the way. The tour did not give them in English and I recommend which side of the wall we could walk to where there are not so many people and thus be able to appreciate the view and get good photos. It should be noted that they are very punctual with the departure and return times, so that they take their precautions, since we were late for 5 minutes and had already left. Fortunately Lio was waiting for his tour group in Chinese and that was how our tour guide was. Excellent option to go to the Chinese Wall with Mubus.
