Despite the large number of visitors, the atmosphere remains special and inspiring. I learned a lot about Chinese culture and history, and I would highly recommend the Forbidden City to anyone visiting Beijing. It is truly a must-see landmark.

Everything went smoothly. Great indications from Miss Li to reach the right entrance. It is not so easy to get around the forbidden city due to the police checkpoints. The passports are the tickets. Make sure you provide the right passport numbers.

This is a wonderful place to see but the tours are too long (4hours) and it gets boring. You can’t go into any of the buildings and the crowds are oppressive I recommend you study up on it and go without a tour

The place is certainly worth a visit, with its amazing yellow tiles and huge spaces, with its long time history. The person who organizes the booking of the tour, Li, is present through the social media for useful tips and suggestions and helps you to make the most of your time there. A must in Beijing, recommended.

Li was brilliant. She was able to WhatsApp us all the info we needed. We went by metro, rather than taxi, so didn’t need to walk from the East gate. It was all a little confusing coming out of the metro station, and finding the correct line as it gets really busy. If we had come out a different exit ( not near the museum) finding the entrance queue would have been far easier, so I would suggest a little research beforehand. We had to show our reservations to get into the entrance queue. Li had sent these to us ( they are a line of Chinese script and then your full name for each person ). Once through this initial check of reservation we went through a passport and baggage check security area. The final check was for tickets where they scanned your passport for entrance. The whole area is massive and the detail is stunning. Lots and lots of photo opportunities. We didn’t have extra entrance to the additional museums inside (clock ect) but it took us so long to walk around other exhibits that we didn’t feel like we were missing out. There were several toilets around ( although not many western style) which was perfect for my younger one who always seemed to need to go! All the signs in the mini museums around were only in Chinese script, so we had our translate app at the ready.

I recommend this. Spectacular architecture and an attentive organiser who gives good instructions and is available on WhatsApp.

Perfect service and fast queue. We went through the security zone just for 10 minutes. We have benn walking around the city for several hours. Be ready for crowds and queue inside.
