Itinerary
Please note that we have two different tour packages available. Please choose according to your needs, and check carefully the different meeting points and times for each option. You must bring your actual valid passport for this tour. Option 1 Tian’anmen Square & Forbidden City Group Tour Start time: 7:30 am & 9:30am & 11:30am Meeting point: In front of Laoshe Teahouse Option 2 2 Hour Forbidden City Group Tour Start time: 8:30AM, 10:30AM, 12:30PM & 2:00 PM Meet at Meridian Gate (the main entrance of the Forbidden City)
For Option 1: You will visit Tian'anmen Square first. Tiananmen Square is the geographical center of Beijing City. It is the largest city square in the world, occupying an area of 440,000 square meters. Followed by your expert and professional guide, a very informative introduction of the Tian'anmen square and surrounding buildings will be given to your group, as everyone moves along towards to the Forbidden City. (Note: In peak season security checks at Tiananmen Square are particularly stringent. If the waiting time exceeds 1 hour, we recommend considering a bus ride that passes by the square. Additionally, spending too much time at the square could detract from your experience at the iconic Forbidden City, which is a highlight of our tour. We will only proceed with this alternative if the majority of the group is in agreement. Please keep this in mind as we plan our visit.)
Once enter the Forbidden City, your guide will find a quite sitting area and introduce you to the palace, making you feel immersed in the history of the Ming and Qing Dynasty. People always say: when visit Forbidden city, 70% is to learn the stories and 30% is to see the palace.During the walking tour, you will stop at different locations to have the "Story time" and gain the insight view to the fascinating culture. This detailed tour to the Forbidden city also including the visit to the important museums to discover the treasures from the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
You'll be walking pass the most notable buildings during the tour as well as the west and east chambers. Check the Itinerary for the full list of sights. Stroll around the courtyards and halls of the Forbidden city with your tour guide, and learn the histories and stories about this massive palace. You will visit these buildings inside the Forbidden City.
Including the Hall of Supreme Harmony (for grand imperial ceremonies), the Hall of Central Harmony (for the emperor's pre-ritual rest and preparation) and the Hall of Preserving Harmony (for royal banquets and the imperial examination).
Then continue to explore the imperial living quarters in the palace: the Hall of Heavenly Purity (the emperor’s bedroom and office), the Hall of Union (a symbolic hall for imperial couples), and the Hall of Earthly Tranquillity (the empress’s residence). Our knowledgeable tour guide will share fascinating stories and intriguing historical facts behind these magnificent buildings throughout the tour.
If you choose Option 2, you will only visit the Forbidden City. The tour includes entry ticket and guided service, lasting about 2 hours. Please arrive on time; late arrivals cannot join the tour.

Not good for small kids and babies. Tour can move exceptionally fast and leave small kids behind. Was also not properly notified the requirement to bring passport for entry.
Very professional and interesting
It was an wonderfull tour with Jimmy!
This was a well-structured and enjoyable tour. The two-hour itinerary primarily covered the outer areas of the Forbidden City, providing a good overview of its history and architecture. However, if you're interested in learning more about the inner palace complex and the Emperor's private living quarters, a longer tour would be a better option.
Jimmy was our tour guide. He was fun, easy to understand, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend for a nice casual tour!
Jimmy was an amazing tour guide who showed me and my friend around the forbidden palace. He was knowledgable, engaging and funny. I would definitely seek Jimmy out as a tour guide again. Good value for money and in safe hands. I would recommend to anyone!
Value for the money. Very good and knowledgeable guide. Stops 4-5 times for a photograph. Good English
We had a fabulous time with Jimmy as our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable, answered every question, and was funny! Overall a great experience and would recommend to anyone.
Amazong experience with Miko, we enjoyed the tour and learned a lot, would do it again.
We had a great experience visiting the Forbidden City with our guide, Jimmy. He was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, sharing interesting stories and historical insights throughout the tour. Everything was well organized, and Jimmy made the visit enjoyable and easy to follow. He was also very helpful and available to answer our questions. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Beijing and want to discover the history of the Forbidden City!
Excellent from start to finish . Jimmy our guide spoke excellent English and explained in detail about the sites we were visiting . He was a friendly guide and nothing was too much for him . There was a lot of walking involved but that is expected . Plenty of opportunities to take it at your own pace too . We saw Tianeman Square and the Forbidden palace . We decided to go to Jingshan park after on Jimmy’s advice . Not disappointed at all !
We were sent details of the meeting point with pictures the evening before the tour, so it was very easy to find our guide. Jimmy was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. We had enough time to take the photos we needed and he was able to highlight the important points. With children aged 9 to 11, I didn't want a longer tour so this one was perfect but I would love to come back again to explore the forbidden city in greater depth one day and learn more of its fascinating history.
Jimmy made this tour memorable ! Very grateful to him
We arrived later than planned due to traffic but they managed to make it work for us to be part of a group. Jimmy was our guide and was full of insight, stories and good humour. It was thoroughly enjoyable.
We had a great tour of the Forbidden Palace with Jimmy today. His humor, insights and history lessons made for a fun and very pleasant day. The small tour group size was also a plus. A highly recommended tour for anyone visiting Beijing. Thanks so much!
Was able to get on the tour at fairly short notice despite general tickets being sold out for the duration of my trip. Moko was awesome and had many real stories along the tour and explained each step and the schedule very well. Well worth doing over trying to organise it yourself.
Absolutely terrible. Our guide left us at security and went on with the tour even after we asked her for her assistance at security due to language barrier. We had to purchase new tickets and pay again and tour by ourself. This company refuses to refund a tour we could not take. Do not recommend taking this tour.
Jimmy thank you for todays tour ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Highly recommend this tour. It was really interesting and the 3 hours, including Tian'anmen Square, was about the right length of time to provide a good insight. Our tour guide, Jay, was amazing both in terms of navigating us through the various checkpoints and his fantastic knowledge of the sites. We also had a very rainy day and Jay kept going with a smile! I would recommend doing both Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City with a guide, and not just the Forbidden City. It is tricky to navigate through the booking process and security checks at Tian'anmen Square without a guide. It is wirth noting that it takes over 30 minutes just to get through security at Tian'anmen Square, but it is worth it with a guide.
Jimmy was an excellent guide, gave us a lot of information about the Tiananmen square and the forbidden city and on top of it he was a funny guy, who made us laugh a lot...
It’s a lot of walking!!! The half day tour was just enough. Restrooms available and some limited water vendors. Pack water bottle if it’s warm weather. Go early or off season to avoid crowds.
Miko knows his stuff, full of info
It was a great experience around the Forbidden City and the Tianamen Square. The guide was extremely helpful and funny, which was what made the experience unforgettable. Definitely recommend!
The whole experience was perfect, thanks to Jimmy. He made the tour very enjoyable. He also recommended a great restaurant—spot on! Highly recommended!!
While we tried to beat the crowds by visiting after Golden Week, we were not the only ones with this idea. It was very busy. However, Maria’s guidance got us through the lines as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Very experienced and relaxed guide, Andy. 12.30 pm 14/10 tour. Took his time to explain in detail even for additional questions. Very worth it
We really enjoyed the guided tour with Jimmy. He gave us a lot of history and explained the important meanings of the different sites. He was good at helping us appreciate all the history that occurred in the Forbidden City. He also suggested where we should explore further after the tour was over. We really enjoyed that too.
Jimmy was great! Good explanations, stories, answered all our questions. 谢谢!
An Exceptional Guide – Jimmy Made Our Beijing Experience Unforgettable! Jimmy was absolutely fantastic and, without a doubt, one of the highlights of our trip to Beijing! From the very first moment, he was incredibly friendly, professional, knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about showing us his city. He went far beyond simply being a tour guide — he made the entire experience feel personal, relaxed and enjoyable. His knowledge of Beijing’s history, culture and landmarks was impressive, and he explained everything in a way that was interesting and easy to understand. Whether we were visiting the Great Wall or exploring the city, Jimmy was always attentive to every detail and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. What we appreciated most was his flexibility and willingness to adapt to what we wanted. He was always ready to help, give great recommendations, take photos, answer our questions and make sure we had the best possible experience. Jimmy has a wonderful personality, a great sense of humor and an incredibly positive attitude. By the end of our time together, it felt like we were traveling with a friend rather than simply a guide. We could not have asked for a better guide for our time in Beijing. Jimmy was truly sensational and played a huge part in making our trip unforgettable. We highly recommend him to anyone visiting Beijing — you will be in excellent hands! Thank you, Jimmy, for making our Beijing adventure so special! 🇨🇳❤️
Very nice! It was beautiful and well organised
Jimmy - many thanks for the amazing trip! Lots of trivia and jokes along the way kept it fun yet informative. Well recommended!
Very nice tour the guide was very professional helpful and well informed on everything. I recommend it to understand the different reason and aspect of every building
Traveling solo, I had a really nice experience touring the Forbidden City with Lucy today. She was friendly and knowledgeable, and I learned a lot about the history of the Forbidden City. She also took some really nice pictures for me, which I appreciated. Overall, it was a great tour!
Jimmy was our guide. He explained all about the history. I recome
Great experience exploring the forbidden city with our tour guide, Miko. Miko was very knowledgable and gave a great overview of the history, whilst also being entertaining and funny. Perfect English too. Very easy to get where we needed to be, get our tickets, and enter. Tour was about 2 hours which is the perfect amount of time for the main areas.
This tour was great. The palace is incredible, every corner you turn is another amazing building or peice of art and it wasn't as busy as I expected. Very rarely it felt crowded which was great considering what and where it is. The guide Mina Li was amazing. She was so informative, answering all my many questions and always happy to help with a photo. She even helped me book theatre tickets and recommended tea shops for the next day. THANK YOU Mina!
I really enjoyed this tour of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City with Miko. He gave us a lot of interesting information without making the tour feel too long or too serious. I also had a small misunderstanding during the security check and felt a bit embarrassed, but Miko was very kind and immediately reassured me that I had done nothing wrong. I really appreciated that. He is a friendly guide who takes good care of his group. I had a great time and would definitely recommend a tour with him. Thanks again, Miko!
Took the tour with Jimmy on 22end great tour, amazing guide, easy and simple, saved me alot of confusion and trouble and Thanks to Jimmy it became less boring for me as a solo traveller :)
We had a great time at Tianmen square and in the forbidden city. Miko was a great guide and shared the rich history of the plave with us.
Miko was an outstanding guide. The day before the tour he thoughtfully shared useful details about the meeting point and what to bring, so we arrived fully prepared. On the day itself he was full of energy, funny and insightful. He also spoke english very well. He took us to all the highlights and shared impressive knowledge of the history of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. I would highly recommend both Miko and this tour!
Had a great tour with Jimmy today - he has a great sense of humour which made the tour feel very personable. He navigated us through all the sites, felt like we skipped all the lines! And was a fountain of information. Would definitely recommend!
We hd a great time on this tour with our guide Jay. He spoke English very well and provided us with lots of information as we went around the Forbidden City — one thing to note here was that unfortunately there was a very long line at the entrance to Tiananmen Square, so our group took Jay’s option of spending more time in the Forbidden City and we didn't end up going to the square at all (it’s worth being aware that this is a possibility). At first we were a little disappointed about going to the square but by the end of the tour we were glad, as we had a richer experience inside the Forbidden City. Overall we would definitely recommend the tour and our guide Jay.
We enjoyed a fantastic tour of the Forbidden City. Lucia is a great guide who shares the history and anecdotes of the site—and of China—with great passion. She is very skilled at navigating the entry process, allowing you to get in quickly without wasting time!
This was an incredible tour and Maria was amazing. She was really informative and had great energy and enthusiasm throughout the day.
Jimmy was excellent. He has great English and gives interesting information regarding the forbidden city and historical facts regarding the emporers and the people that lived in the city.
Jimmy is a great guide and amazing person!
The guidance was excellent and kept more or less two hours. I found the meeting point easily. Check into the city was fast. Arrangements for the meeting were clear.
Pros: -Miko has done a good job guiding the group. Excellent explanation, excellent knowledges. Great humour. -Got our attention on the history all the way. Cons and suggestions: -It was an autumn season, extreme UV and heat despite cooling and I only have sunshades and sunblock on. Perhaps can remind the clients to bring hoodies, umbrellas or hats/caps. -The guiding flag was meant to be seen easily but it was folded and colour faded. We tried looking for it for few minutes anxiously despite reaching early. All in all, we sincerely thanks to Miko for the amazing service. We enjoy so much on the story telling, it was entertaining and great experience.
Really good and really fast tour. Maria was great and very thorough when explaining the layout of the palace as well as the traditions around it.
