Need more than 1 visit to visit all of the palaces and gardens. At least 1 display required additional fee other than admission fee. Getting entry ticket through Viator makes entry easier but we chose a pricey entry $26Cdn when compared to the entry to Tiananmen Sq. $5 Cdn

Reviews
It is of average interest. Most of the halls were not open, some had only door open to look inside, where due to the lack of light not much could be seen. Treasure exhibition is of low value so is the Timepieces. Anyone who had ever been to St Petersburg's Ermitage neither the clocks not other treasures would impress.
We went through the Tian’anmen and Forbidden city without any glitches. The queue was long as usual but we passed through the checks with our passports easily. Thank you Viator! A little tip - go without a bag. Checking bags at the security checkpoint is the one that results in snaking queues.
You can 100% do Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City without a guide. I went very early in the morning (6:00am) and walked straight through security with no queue. I did have to show the print out of my booking as well as my passport. After I left the Forbidden City I went back to Tianamen Square and had to queue for 1.5 hours to get back in. Other than queue lengths, there was no problem,
Everything that can be said about this place has already been said. There is nothing to add. Just visit it and see everything with your own eyes. Be prepared for the fact that there are a lot of people there.
The booking under this trip advisor is usable; show the guard, & they will let you in. However, there is a long queue due to strict security check, this ticket is not a skip of the line tickets. Everyone has to queue even though you bought the tickets in advance. The Forbidden City and Tiannanmen square are connected. You must go to Tiannanmen square first then only to the Palace. Don't commit the same mistakes happened to us that we entered the Palace first & cannot come back to go to Tiannanmen square unless you lined up up again minimum 1 hour. Because it is a 1 way entry, at the end is the exit. There is no turning back.
When purchasing the ticket instructions should be shared on how and which gate you should enter + plus contact number given with the booking they only speak Chinese.
Things have changed since prior visits. Could have been because of National Congress meeting that day. Finding route to main entrance of Forbidden City and to Tiananmen Square was very difficult. Definitely need to book an appointment prior to going. Thankfully we had known based on other reviews. Our passport and visa were checked three times in trying to get there. Three different stops. Last stop. Bags were hand searched. Everything removed. Roll of electrical tape was confiscated.
Don’t use this service. The company was super difficult to communicate with, instructions were poor, One of my party was initially refused entrance because there was a screwup in passport numbers. It is my recommendation that Viator drop this supplier immediately.
Worth buying in advance to make process easier as communication is a problem. By booking in advance just need to scan passport on arrival.
In august the Tian’anmen Square and forbidden city are full of people and it is very smart booking it! Then you enter with your passport and if you come at 7:00AM at least you don’t have any problem
Everything was great, we arrived at the entrance early in the morning and went inside without problemes. Easy!
Unfortunately we cannot access the gate with tickets received as seems they were not connected with our passports! We had to pay again and onsite operator did not reply as well Viator operator pasted me information from the mail into WhatsApp thinking I’m stupid and I cannot understand the info shared from the agency. Crazy! I will never book again this way with Viator. Still angry and still waiting my refund
Xia Qing Gang amazing driver and person. During the trip he gave us many advises and interesting information. Highly recommend.
Completely useless. We visited the forbidden city yesterday and didn't even need a ticket for it. All we had to do was show our passport and take a quick face scan. No ticket or purchase necessary whatsoever. We actually knew this before, but viator did not let us get our money back. So that's just 40€ (for 2 people) for literally nothing. Not satisfied, will not buy again. Needless to say, I strongly recommend not buying these. Forbidden city itself was beautiful though.
Transaction is very smooth. The operator is able to answer the call and give the response timely. Overall I did enjoy the experience
I took the tickets to the entrance after waiting in lines for a long time, and scanning the bar code showed I haven't purchased the tickets. Took them to the ticketing window and they told me they were fake. We ended up not going to the forbidden city because same day tickets are not available.
A must see attraction in Beijing but be ready for the long queues and best to go when it's not too hot. Tiananman Square is massive and the Forbidden City is really a city and not a town, it's massive! You really need a whole day there if you want to cover it all. You'll need a guide if want want all the details and history. However if you just want to take a few photos at your own pace, you can do it without a guide.
Everything went very well. Viator makes good job. 2h waiting time at security check before entrance, already at 9am.
The tour has been amazing , Tianmen square and Forbidden City are incredible impressive., very crowded but everything is well organized. Entering the attraction was simply, just needed passports
Entrance to Forbidden City was obtained with passport as mentioned by the operator, and clarified on time on our request. Over 60 we were allowed to skip part of the queue.
I had to stay in the line to enter for 2 hours 5 years ago. This time with this ticket and entering on the side entry, I didn't have to wait at all. It was a nice experience! Fully recommend!
Smooth entry to forbidden city. Those who want free and easy. This booking is good. The queue is long to enter but has nothing to do with the ticket. Clear instructions given before the day of entry
Impossible to get tickets on official site...this is next best thing. Crowds at entrance, need to walk 1 km to get to entrance too. Allow plenty of time before ticket expires.
Brought 2 tickets with entry to the treasure gallery. Thing was that one wouldn't work for entry to the treasure gallery. Seems original tickets are resold here for more than 3x the amount of the original price.
Of course nice place but impossible to get in Museum and mausolée!no possibilité to buy tickets! You have to tell people that ! Before!!! So they can buy them online 10 Days before!!! We bought 2tours just to see that and no way!
Everything worked, we geht into the Forbidden City with our Passport without any Problem. Very good, we recommend.
Everything perfect, they stopped us at the checkpoints thinking we didn't have the reservation for the square, but by showing the voucher they let us pass.
It is very beautiful. The Forbidden City is something you cannot miss! I thank the girl from the Viator assistance center!
The forbidden city is a must. Wonderful, a unique visit, the best memories and postcards. Recommend, book in advance and if you go in winter, go very warm because it is very cold. Tiananmen is fabulous, a little traumatic access control. For these two destinations you CANNOT FORGET TO CARRY THE PASSPORT
I was worried that it was so easy to book, but I was able to book well. I think it would be easier to understand if I included additional explanations about admission. I would like to use it again next time.
Super makkelijk.
Nessun problema all'ingresso, tutto OK.
