Din Tai Fung Dinner And Vip Class River Cruise Experience In Shanghai

It's a great program. We quickly boarded the ship on the VIP deck. The guide told us about Shanghai in an interesting way. Xialongbao is very tasty

We had a great experience on this tour. We were picked up at our hotel and taken to dinner before taking a river cruise after dark. Our guide was GREAT she spoke fluent English and was very knowledgable about Shanghai and its history. I am not one to often right reviews but I felt compelled to this time because everything was terrific. Do not hesitate to take this tour if you as we were new to the city.

Very overpriced. River cruise was nice but pretty generic. The Dim Sum place was a chain and we got there super late, so they were about to close. Minimal explanation from our tour guide about the history of the city.

This was a great tour. Our guide Sunny was super nice and great at communicating before to make sure we knew the plan. The dinner was great & the cruise was amazing. We took our work team on there & everyone really enjoyed the time. The cruise is the right amount of time— long enough to learn about the city from Sunny & take tons of photos. They also offered to take pictures.

The overall experience was excellent. The guide (Mason) was polite, friendly and takes care of us during the whole tour. Would highly recommend him as the guide to my family and friends if they are to visit Shanghai.

We had a wonderful tour with Lily! We enjoyed a river cruise where she pointed out all of the sites and explained relevant history. Then we went to a great dumpling restaurant and she showed us the local technique for eating soup dumplings - yum! I would recommend this tour!

I cannot recommend this tour highly enough - we were in shanghai for only a week so trying to fit in everything we could to make it memorable. I only wish I had booked this dinner tour on the first night as it would have been such a fantastic opening to the trip! Sunny was so knowledgeable and friendly and made our experience perfect- even when I tried to smuggle a bottle of wine onto the boat tour and got in trouble she saved the day! It was an above and beyond experience that we will never forget, getting to try local food with a knowledgeable host who made sure to have us try everything, things we wouldn’t have known about even! My favorite thing I’ve ever eaten on any trip came from this meal - a fried stuffed lotus root, something I probably wouldn’t have discovered on my own. Thank you Sunny! Definitely worth every penny for this experience.

Sunny was a kind, capable, and informative guide to host us on a river cruise of the Huangpu River, followed by dinner at Din Tai Fung. Views were incredible from the VIP area.

We had a great night out with Lily - our host. She was charming and well informed. The dinner was excellent - delicious!. Unfortunately due to the wind, river cruise was cancelled, so instead Lily took us to a rooftop bar, which had wonderful views over the river to the buildings all lit up on the other side. A good alternative to the cruise.

Sunny was a wonderful guide, making our evening simply sensational! We were picked up at our hotel and everything ran like clock work. We had magnificent views of the Shanghai skyline from our VIP cruise seats. Sunny shared lots of interesting facts and information about all that we were experiencing. Our evening was topped off with an amazing meal at Din Tai Fung. Sunny recommended a couple of dishes I would not have known to order on my own - they were delicious! Having been on a two week business trip with colleagues, we needed some off time. This was a perfect get away to see the city and enjoy some of the best soup dumplings. We called early that morning, on a holiday and was still able to get the tour. Sunny was our tour guide and was an absolute pleasure. She speaks good english and is very funny. She and the driver pick us up from the hotel and brought us to the docks. She provided great info along the way. We had VIP seats on the boat and we were the only ones in the front of the boat. We had the perfect views while enjoying a free beer. After that great ride we were off to the restuarant.I had eaten here in the states but it was much better here in Shanghai. There was no set meal and Sunny let us choose what we like while also offering suggestions. She was a gracious dinner host. After a quick walk through the French Concession for a few more sites and back to the hotel. A perfect tour for us and we got to unwind and see the sites. Thanks again for everything and we will see you on our next travels.

Our guide, Lily, was so friendly and helpful that we immediately knew we were going to enjoy this tour. We were taken by private car, with private driver, and Lily, to the river boat where we were able to sit inside or stroll around outside - no crowds in the VIP section. After a super cruise, we had a Chinese dinner, choosing different dishes and with Lily explaining the menu and joining us to eat - she contributed to the joy of the evening. Then we strolled around getting to see a little more of the city. This was definitely worth 5 stars, maybe even 10.

Our family enjoyed watching the night view on the cruise ship. Although there were so many people on the ship, we were not bothered since we were able to enter the VIP room, where there were only some people. My daughters wanted to be outside to feel more excited even though it was cold outside. It was very nice of our tour guide to get us cups of hot tea. The tour guide also told us many things such as the history of Shanghai. In addition, the dinner was really delicious.

Overall experience very enjoyable. Sunny demonstrated a detailed knowledge of Shanghai and spoke English well. She had a very pleasant happy nature. We enjoyed the VIP cruise which provided great views of the River and had a pleasant dinner at the restaurant.

We had a great evening with Sunny in December 2018. She was a great host, the river trip was spectacular and the dinner great. For first time Shanghai visitors it was perfect.

We booked a Huangpu river cruise and dinner at Din Tai Fung with Sunny. We had a great time and Sunny was a super local guide. We were met on time and sat at the front VIP section of the boat. Dinner at Din Tai Fung was also very good. Sunny knew what to order and we had a broad sampling of dumplings. We also walked around the Xintiandi area. Wonderful evening.

Rita gave us a wonderful tour of Shanghai. The cruise was very nice and gave us a beautiful view of Shanghai at night. The city is beautiful! Then Rita took us to a dumpling dinner which was great. The food was one of the best dinners we had while in China. Overall it was a great tour!

Four of us did the so-called VIP-class river cruise followed by dinner at the famous Din Tai Fung restaurant in Xintiandi (新天地). It was my birthday and I wanted a special tour to celebrate the occasion with our friends. The guide, Lily, and driver collected us from our hotel at the appointed time (1800 hrs) and drove us to the river to board the boat. Unfortunately, the traffic was heavy and by the time we boarded all the VIP seating was taken. We also learned that a special VIP-class cabin had been completely booked by some group so was not accessible. Lily was very pro-active in trying to get permission for us to sit in a small section on the 2nd level with chairs on the outer deck which was chained off for some reason, but was unsuccessful. She then rushed up to the top deck but found it very crowded, so advised that we remain on the 2nd level for the 45-minute cruise so we could best view the cityscape. Despite being a very overcast evening, the view of the city skyline from the river was very exciting. Lily, who has exceptional English-speaking ability, was extremely knowledgeable about the city's history and summarised many interesting details about the buildings on the Bund and on the Pudong side. The best part was dinner, however. We know Din Tai Fung very well as we live in Hong Kong where they also operate, and we love their food! After being escorted to the restaurant in Xintiandi (where we've been before), it was a very pleasant surprise to find that the meal wasn't pre-defined. Instead, Lily allowed us to browse the menu and select both the dishes and drinks of our own choosing. During dinner she was animated and turned out to be a fascinating hostess, answering many questions we had about life in Shanghai and in China in the 21st century. She was engaging, charming, smart & professional, has exceptional English skills and was loads of fun! I most certainly recommend this tour, and if you're lucky enough to get Lily as your guide it will enhance the experience greatly! Richard

We had a wonderful time. Upon our request, Sunny arranged us to visit Qibao water town in the afternoon prior to the river dinner cruise tour. Sunny organized a pickup directly from our remote hotel in Shanghai for us and dropped us off at Qibao water town then picked us up again from Qiabo to continue for the river dinner cruise in the evening with reasonable extra payment. On the boat Sunny explained us about the buildings and some history around Shanghai on the bund. They were very informative. We enjoyed very much about the sights illuminated at night travel by boat and we were seated in a nice VIP area. We had the best views of both sides of the river. For the dinner, Sunny ordered a wide range of Chinese specialties-Shanghai soup dumpling, vegetable and fired rice. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Thank you Sunny and our Driver. We definitely recommend this tour and guide- Sunny.

My family and I had the best experience with Sunny! Even though the cruise didn't end up happening because it was a windy night, Sunny took care of everything right away and took us up to the Shanghai Tower instead. Amazing introduction to such an interesting city.

We only had 24 hours in Shanghai and Sunny's evening cruise and dinner was the perfect introduction for our group of 4. Fanstasic way to take in all the beautifully lit up buildings along the river, especially in the VIP section. Sunny took care of us right from our last minute booking. Contacting us by text to verify hotel pickup and tour time. And evening though we were extremely tired from our 14 hour flight, Sunny accommodated us in every way. Dinner was a true treat. Some of the best dumplings and fried rice we've ever had. Thanks Sunny! We were in great hands.

<p>I highly recommend this tour! Sunny is very well educated, excellent in English, extremely knowledgable, fun and friendly. The tour was very well organised, and Sunny was constantly aware of our comfort..it was very hot and she ensured we had air conditioning etc. The dinner was great, the famous taiwanese dumplings are a highlight. The river cruise was in the VIP area airconditioned and the views and photos opportunities were fantastic. When i was too hot to go out to get great photos, Sunny took my camera out and got some for me!</p> <p>Thanks Sunny for the wonderful evening, next time we are in Shanghai, we will be taking more of your tours. :-</p>
