Beijing:mutianyu Great Wall Daily Tour With Ticket & Lunch

Easy way to visit the Great Wall. The tour guide, Linda, basically drops you off at the bottom where the ropeway and cable car entrances aren’t to the west and east sections of the wall, respectively. You can choose to go up one or both sides. We got about 4.5 hours there without the guide to pick our route. It was a sufficient amount of time. The east side is quieter from my experience. Lunch was okay. Family-style meal that had a lot of vegetables. We got seated with others not on our group who also didn’t always use the communal serving utensils to get their food. The trip was overall pleasant.

Extremely disappointing tour guide — would not recommend this company We are extremely disappointed with the tour guide provided by this company for our visit to the Great Wall of China. We paid a significant amount of money for a guided tour, expecting to learn about the history and significance of one of the wonders of the world. Instead, the guide simply left us at the entrance and provided no information whatsoever about the Great Wall. He did not explain anything about its history, construction, or importance, which completely ruined what should have been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. To make matters worse, while travelling to the Wall, he charged us 400 so that we could visit the other side and said he would arrange the tickets. This felt well over the odds. We had already paid to see the Great Wall of China, so being charged again on the day felt unfair and left us feeling totally robbed. The only positive was that we did love actually being at the Great Wall of China — it is an incredible place. However, the guide’s lack of knowledge, communication, and professionalism seriously spoilt the experience for us. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this company to anyone. We paid for a guided tour and did not receive the service we were promised or the value we expected.

Worth booking with the optional lunch - maybe it was because of the 4 hour hike beforehand, but the meal at the end tasted fantastic! Our guide Kevin spoke excellent English and had a good sense of humour, with lots of useful information. You really want to ensure you get at least 3-4 hours on the wall included in the timing of your visit.

Meeting point was easy to find and Kevin was friendly, bubbly and enthusiastic. Trip to the wall was ok, we found the legroom on the bus was a little cramped especially for my husband with long legs. Cable car tickets were easily acquired from Kevin and all went smoothly thanks to Kevin’s clear instructions. The Great Wall was much steeper than expected but we climbed as much as we liked in the time we had. Cable Cars trips were lovely. Lunch was great and we had the chance to meet some of the other travellers which was great.

Very well organized and Kevin is a great tour guide. We were able to visit both sides, almost no lines (only for the tobogán) .

Linda was excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and clear. Lunch was included but drinks cost extra, that was the only annoying part.

I recently went on a tour of the Great Wall of China, and it was a fantastic experience. Our guide, Kevin, was incredibly friendly and shared so much interesting history about the Wall and the country as a whole. His knowledge and enthusiasm really added to the day. I had a great time from start to finish and would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting China.

A lot of people visiting the Great Wall. Very difficult to walk up and down some of the passages. But the fall colors were breathtaking.

Everything was very well organized, and the support from our guide Kevin was extraordinary. His English was excellent, and his explanations were very clear and to the point. I chose the tour with lunch included, and it was well worth it. Five stars for the organization and for our guide Kevin.

We have chosen this company because of the good comments it had, today we have discovered that it is the best... we had Mike as a guide👏 he explained everything to us super well, he was attentive to us at all times and made us feel at home. We also enjoyed the wonderful food they have in their buffet. 100% recommended

This was a great experience. The meeting location was easy to find and Kevin, the guide gave thorough instructions and information on the way up to the Great Wall. This is perfect for solo travelers as you can meet others and be with a group but also have flexibility to go off on your own. It’s nice to know someone is checking on you and that you make it back. Pay the few bucks for the lunch. It was worth it. The ride back was quiet as your pretty spent by the end. Kevin made sure everyone made it off to whatever they weee doing next.

Fabulous day great food awesome experience Kevin was a great guide. Kevin was great, but this bloody test is incredibly stupid.(minimum number of words.) is this an English test.

Tourguide Kevin initially seemed nice but then turned out very rude. Apparently, we needed to pay an extra 140 yuan each person (about $20) in the bus for the cable car which wasn't really an option because you simply can't walk it. When we mentioned that this should have been communicated upfront, Kevin immediately got very defensive and condescending, making a whole scene and trying to make us look bad in front of everyone, shouting "he can refund the 280 yuan if we can't afford it". We said that the money wasn't the point but he still came back several times to give us the money back "so we can walk". How beyond rude! Obviously, this wasn't about the money but the communication, and this could have been an easy conversation but Kevin made it a very bad experience which left us shocked and disgusted. So, the tour itself is nice but no, do NOT book with this company!

We booked a tour to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, which was advertised as including lunch. However, upon arrival, we were told that lunch was not actually included, despite both our booking confirmation and a support chat clearly stating that it was. There was also no option to pay for lunch on the spot, which was disappointing and inconvenient. The tour itself consisted of a bus ride and a guide named Kevin. Unfortunately, Kevin spoke English with a very strong accent, making him hard to understand. He didn’t share much information about the Great Wall itself and only stayed with us on the bus. During the ride, he strongly encouraged us to take both cable cars (to the western and eastern parts of the Wall, the cable cars were 280 CNY), which made the whole 4-hour trip feel rushed.

We attented the Great Wall Tour Mutianyu in May 2025. The meeting point was easy to find, although Beijing is clearly a major metropolis. Our tour guide, Kevin was informative and he is such a positive person. I can recommend him and this tour very much, and we got a very delicious meal in the end. No hidden prices, just the simply good experience!

Very enjoyable! The wall is incredible! Kevin the tour guide was very helpful and suggested the best sections to walk and how to use the cable cars. Lunch was delicious!

The overall experience was very hassle free. The guide was really amazing, meeting point was absolutely right, he got all the tickets done and explained us really well about the route to go. We had a lunch option as well after the viewing which was surprisingly good for me since I'm a vegetarian. The views from the wall were really amazing. From what I've heard it's a bit less crowded than badaling wall

I appreciated the tour guide. She gave us the information we needed without being too verbose. She got us through the hawkers at the bottom really quickly. Plenty of toilet stops. My young family members climbed all of it. I could still enjoy as much climbing as I could handle. This was an excellent tour. The food was great.

To really enjoy the visit you should be reasonably fit as there is a lot of unavoidable walking. Fantastic experience in low season as not many people. Great guide Cristina gave good info before arrival and was contactable throughout. Also great value for money.

Very good service, perfectly in line with the program and the presentation of activities. Our guide Kevin was extremely nice, knowledgeble, and spoke excellent English and provided explanation on the Great Wall, as well as on contemporary China. He was also spot on with visit practicalities (tickets, r food, etc) and in keeping the group of 46 together while teaching the site. He provided all the indications to visit the Great Wall and the attractions in the area on our own. The bus was of good standards with reliable driver. Well recommended.

It was an experience of a lifetime seeing the Great Wall of China! The Van that transported us had no air conditioning. The Tour guide mixed up some of the tickets. He insisted we had to pay upfront to visit both section of the wall. Lunch was very good!

The tour is excellent . The weather is nice . The scenery is beautiful .And we had a great time . We climb to the top of the Great Wall . There aren't many tourists , which is nice . And we also try the toboggan .It is fun to slide from the Great Wall .

The trip to Mutianyu was great. Our driver Bruce was very friendly and helpful. He arranged the tickets for cable car up and slide back down and waited till we liked to go back. On our way back we ended up in heavy traffic and on our proposal he dropped us off at a nearby subway station so we didn’t miss our train back to Shanghai. I recommend this trip.

What can I say other than this is the very best tour you could possibly take in Beijing. Tony is the most fantastic guide, he speaks brilliant English and is incredibly accommodating. With his recommendation on timings we were able to enjoy the Great Wall of China completely to ourselves which was the most surreal experience we've ever had. Unfortunately on my trip I had an accident and had to go to hospital, however Tony our tour guide was absolutely incredible throughout our time and assisted me with the hospital and anything else we needed. This is the best tour and ran by an amazing person. Their hotel is lovely too!

The trip was very comfortable and uncomplicated. We had a great day with not too many visitors in winter so it was calm and enjoyable. The driver/leader was very nice and adapted to our plans/needs and gave us good advice. Definately recommend this one if you have few time and want to do less organisation by yourself!

The tour was excellent, since getting there early means less people (better photos) especially when there was snow. Tony was a great guide with good communication, telling us about the history as well as answering any queries we have. By the end of our tour the lunch provided was nice with a variety of dishes. Strongly recommended for group and solo travellers.

I'm generally skeptical of tour agencies, but this one pleasantly surprised me. The day began with breakfast, then we left and picked up others from different hotels. Tony, our tour guide, joined shortly after leaving. He is a great, friendly person; speaks English very well and is knowledgeable about the Great Wall. Once reaching the Wall, Tony helped us get to the different areas we needed to go to and acquiring entrance tickets. We had our 8-month-old son with us, and Tony was very patient as we needed to take our time more so than others. We were informed of different options for hiking the Wall and given the meeting place at a certain time. Tony had given us some info about the Wall's history, which was very helpful because there is not much on the Wall itself. Hiking the Wall itself was amazing - astounding views and soaking in culture and history. We went in January, so it was COLD! But, it was worth it. After the hike, we met at a restaurant for lunch. The food was very good, not too greasy. No one forced us to buy anything and the entire trip was relaxed. Well done Happy Dragon!

Such great value for money!!! We LOVED our tour. Just enough information and time allowed to do everything! My boyfriend and I were determined to do it all, slide and hike to tower 20. We took the ski lift up to the slide, slid down then took the gondola up to tower 14 I think then hiked to tower 20! What an incredible experience. Tony was wonderful and the lunch he booked after was surprisingly traditional and delicious!!

The Happy Dragon Mutianyu Great wall tour was an easy way to see the wall. We went in January and were delighted to get to see it in the snow! Tony was the perfect guide, giving us information but letting us also have plenty of time to explore. I would recommend this trip to anyone!

From start to finish, this tour is brilliant. We started off our day with Breakfast then met our tour guide Tony, who was great. He was informative, funny and friendly. He set up the day by giving us advice on the best routes to take up the wall and some history about the wall. We were brought to the wall first thing in the morning so it wasn't busy which was fantastic. We had over 3 hours to explore by ourselves and see what we wanted, ample time to go wherever you liked. We finished off the tour with a lovely lunch. Another huge plus was the fact that we weren't brought to a factory, shop or market before or after, so no pushy selling. On the bus back Tony gave us the option to drop us off on route to some locations around Beijing which was amazing. 5 stars🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Can't be happier about this trip. Tony is a great guide that explained everything in English prior to the ascension to the wall, its history and recommendations for the visit. Food was great, tasty and I don't think anyone in our table left the restaurant hungry. The lunch is included in the price but not the drinks. Juice is around 15rmb and the teapot of jasmin tea around 30rmb. Entry to the facilities is included in the price, cable car tickets aren't (100rmb one way, 120rmb both ways, only cash and only RMB are accepted). No annoying visits to factories. Just pick up at the hostel - wall (lunch takes place at the village where the entrance is) and back to hostel. 100% recommended, Antonio
