Beijing: Layover Tour To Mutianyu Great Wall (4-5 Hours)

Our guide was David and he was great! We had only 1 day in Peking and we decided to go to Great Wall. David picked us up on time, he was waiting for us at arrivals with our name written on board. The van was clean and spaceous, we also got conplimentary water. The trip itself went smooth. David made sure that our tickets were bought upfront, he helped us skip the line, because we traveled with stroller. He was by our side all the time. At the end he took us to some local restaurant for lunch.

We had a morning available after our business trip and this was a perfect way to see the Great Wall before we left Beijing. Tony picked us up at our downtown hotel, toured us through the Great Wall and then delivered us to the airport - total drive time and tour time about 5.5 hours. It was quick but we still got to experience one of the wonders of the world. Thanks Tony for being such a great guide!!

He suggested three wonderful stops: the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, and the Hutongs. Everything was perfect from our very first contact. Did a layover tour from airport to Mutianyu Great Wall, with Tony our tour guide + driver. Pickup instructions were clear (made contact before our trip) and seamless during the day (7am when we arrived). Tickets were booked for us so everything was already sorted. Tony was very friendly and helpful and even accommodated for us by dropping us off to our hotel (pre arranged before trip). Trip was finished by 1pm. Optional, Chinese tea drinking ceremony which I highly recommend. Overall, very good experience and would recommend! Cheers mate!

Once I made the booking I was contacted by Tony to confirm my pick up location. I had the pleasure of Lillian as my driver. She was absolutely wonderful. The trip to the Great Wall was about 1 1/2 hours in a very comfortable car. Lillian was very pleasant to be with. She was so very helpful to be sure that I got in the right line and on the cable car. I had a problem with my ticket as i had purchased the wrong one and she helped me get that sorted out. She came along with me at the beginning and was able to take some great photos of me at the Wall which was very helpful since I was on my own. She then waited for me while I hiked the wall for about 2 1/2 hours then directed me to a good place to get some lunch, then got me back to my hotel. All in all she helped make my Great Wall experience a wonderful one. Highly recommended!

Our driver was Ms. Lillian. Lillian was so helpful and friendly, and she made our trip very exciting. She bought our tickets for us, took a lot of photos, and also took us to a nice restaurant and a supermarket for Beijing duck. The car was new and clean, so we could relax and sleep. It was the perfect way to make time of our quick stop in Beijing and see the Great wall. Tony our guide was very helpful, great english, he staid with us the whole time and made sure we maximized our time. Just be mindful when you book the tour from which airport you are flying in, I missed that and our airport was further away so we had to pay quite an extra amount for the drop off.

Toni was an excellent tour guide. He was very knowledgeable which was a great help as myself and my friend Karen were not entirely sure of the history of the Great Wall of China. We know now! Tony was an amazing guide. Very accommodating, helpful and willing to answer any questions regards anything from history, fun facts, everyday life or practical regarding the tour. We did a combo of Great Wall and night tour of Beijing with a dinner of our choice either at the heart of Beijing or in the suburbs. We opted for the suburbs for a more authentic experience and it was absolutely worth it. Delicious local food without the tourist tag. Tony was very friendly, funny and approachable, and took care of everything, all entry fees were included. He even walked us out to the airport to make sure we go the right way.

My husband and I are different in our activity level and things we enjoy and Tony was able to work with us both by slowing down for him while I did my photography. This was the perfect tour to do during our long layover in Beijing—a great opportunity to visit the Great Wall of China! Tony was a great tour guide and incredibly kind. He waited over an hour for us when our flight was delayed. The drive from PEK Airport to the Great Wall took about 1.5 hours and went very smoothly. Tony happily answered any questions we had, whether about China, Beijing, or the Great Wall, throughout the tour. The entrance fee was taken care of by Tony and already included in the tour price, and if you wanted to take the slide down, that had to be paid separately—but Tony happily helped us with that as well. He gave us a lot of valuable and interesting information while we were on the Wall and also took great photos of us. This was a fantastic layover tour, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone with a long layover like we had. It can easily be done within 5–6 hours!

Was an excellent trip to the great wall. From first contact Tony left great instructions to find him in airport. He was very accommodating and was able to extend tour for 4 hours into the evening (for an extra fee) Was well worth it.

Shane was absolutely amazing. He met me on time and our arranged location and literally spent the day with me at The Great Wall. Didn’t talk too much and answered all my questions along the way. He took every photo and video I requested with a smile and even dealt with the winter winds of Beijing as we sat in long lines. I booked the Mutianyu Great Wall layover tour and honestly it was honestly perfect. My guide, Tony, was outstanding — he knew everything, had facts that genuinely blew my mind, and kept things fun without overdoing it. After an 11 hour flight, the balance he struck between great conversation and quiet time was exactly what I needed. The car was incredibly comfortable, spotless, and ideal for recovering a bit before and after the Wall. Tony also has seriously impressive photo skills: he knew all the best angles and spots, and the pictures came out amazing. The whole experience was awesome, relaxed, and way better than I expected for a tight layover. If you’re debating whether to book this during a stopover: do it. Tony made it an absolute highlight of my trip.

Tony is the best guide in the world! I had a 14h layover and he took me to the great wall and the summer palace. The places are out of this world but Tony is even better! He took care of every little detail, tickets, great photos, great stories, he even had snacks and a present for me 🩵. He changed my opinion about the country in a few hours and now it can be my next destination. The great wall is one of the most impressive places in this world. Had a 12 layover and wanted to get to the great wall so got in touch with Tony and from start to finish he was absolutely amazing!!! He was so welcoming, Chatty and easy to get on with. He had a lovely big comfy car waiting that was so lovely after a long haul flight! He had waters waiting too which was a lovely touch. We wanted to get a coffee before going upto the great wall which was no issue at all for tony and in general he was just such a gem! he also made such an effort with pictures for us up there and allowed some free time too.. We didnt feel a bit rushed and had the best time. Tony organised all the tickets / entrance fees etc which was so nice after travelling not having to worry about that. We were drove back to the airport with a little nap on route and tony had a chocolate snack for the trip back and a souvenir! Cant say enough about how great he is! Thank you Tony!!!

Also recommend taking the chair lift up and sled back down. So much fun. Since we were only there for a quick layover we did not have Chinese currency. Recommend getting some at airport or adding Alipay app before the trip. Lots a great souvenirs near wall but need cash to do it. My wife was never wanting to go to China. This 10 hour layover has her asking when can we go back! Thanks Tony for making the day magical for us.
