Excellent experience. Angela is a great source of information!
Angela was very informative.
Angela from Catherine Lu Tour was great. Before the trip, gave me suggestions on where to store my luggage. Informative guide and patient even with a very large group. Will definitely recommend.
We learned a lot about the history of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City from our guides Michael. He was fairly clear and interesting. The meeting point for the tour was a bit confusing, though, as we had to ask several groups to find Michael—the Catherine Lu” flag was not, and it’s hard to see anyway as it’s very faded. We finally found him and checked in, but we waited around a while before walking over to the entrance of Tiananmen Square. When we got there and lined up, Michael had a long discussion with the police officer at the gate; we ended up having to turn around and walk to the Forbidden City instead. Apparently, there was some issue with large group admissions at 8 am. I’m not clear on exactly what happened, but it seems like this is something the tour company should have had sorted out before having Michael dragging 40+ people around the streets outside the Square. As a result of having to switch around our tour order at the last minute, we were all practically speed-walking from the Square to the entrance of the Forbidden City. Once we got there, some folks in our group had trouble using their passports as tickets. Michael had to take them to some office there to get their admission sorted while the rest of us were instructed to wait just outside the gates. By now, it was an hour after the start of our tour and we hadn’t actually entered a single site. Frustrating. Once we all got inside, Michael provided interesting and helpful history and context and we were ble to get on with the tour as one might expect. Then we moved on to the square. We had to walk about 15 minutes to a bus stop and squeeze onto a public bus to get to the group entrance gate at the Square. After going over the interesting details of the Square, the tour ended with Michael pointing out options for what we might like to do next. All in all, the tour was fine since it was only $35 pp; the guide did his best under the circumstances.
Michael was our guide and he did a great job of giving all the history and details about both places. He was very friendly and interactive with the group. Highly recommend the tour. Ask for Michael!
Excellent tour guide. Very helpful and very friendly ..always looking after us.. highly recommended
Gary is your guide for this spot! He is extremely knowledgeable and professional. Gary answered all our questions, gave us valuable insights and kept us entertained throughout the tour. Definitely book your visit to the Forbidden city and Tiananmen Square with Gary
It was one of the best tours I’ve experienced in my life as the guide Gary was very knowledgable and entertaining. From the beginning to the end he held the whole’s group attention.
The tour was great, Gary gave us alot of information throughout to day. Bring comfy shoes as there is alot of walking. Would definitely recommend booking a guide as going through security would be difficult alone. Glad I booked it!
Angela provided an excellent tour. She was very informative & very efficient in terms of time management. In addition she was extremely courteous & helpful all the time of my tour.
Angela was a fabulous guide - made history come alive with stories. Loved taking the Angela route - got away from the biggest crowds and saw the best courtyards and buildings.
Michael our tour guide was amazing. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He made it a fantastic experience for us
Everything went really well from start to finish. The tickets worked perfectly with no issues at all, and the visit was a great success. A smooth and enjoyable experience that I would definitely recommend.
Lovely tour led by Angela. She is very knowledgeable and we enjoyed our time
Was great , fascinating! The place is emaising and our guide, Angela, very well prepared and her stories were absolutly amassing ! We really apreciate her knowledge and energy!
Great experience with our guide Tony who could not be more knowledgeable about the forbidden city. Always available to answer any question you may have. I recommend adding the temple of heaven option at the end.
Our tour guide Gary is very knowledgeable and funny. Highly recommended!
Such interesting history! There is so much to learn! It’s important to have a guide that speaks good English for this tour. Tony has an excellent command of the English language so he was able to educate and entertain us at the same time.. He is very enthusiastic about his job. Note that there is a lot of walking but there are many places to sit along the way.
Great guide, practical with our delayed arrival to start the tour
Gary was excellent. He was punctual and did an excellent job making it an interacting experience. Had some solid jokes.
Tony is a great tour guide, he told us interesting facts about TS & FC. I think this is one of those places where if you don’t go with a tour guide you are really missing out. And I also think it would be very difficult to navigate getting in through through the several points of security and where to go once you’re inside. Of course you could just zoom through it yourself but it’s more of a memorable experience with a tour guide. This is a four hour tour and we felt like we had seen enough after 2 1/2 hours so we parted ways but that is no reflection on Tony. There is just so much to see and do and not enough time.
nice visit with a very nice and well prepared guide
Thank you for a wonderful tour! I had a great time and really appreciated your guidance.
Great experience! Definitely worth attending.
Our guide Angela was fantastic , she navigated us easily through the Tiananmen square and the Forbidden city telling a lot of stories about the place and giving us enough time for the photos. To explore this vast area, a guide is definitely recommended and I surely vouch for this tou and the guide. Thank you very much for this memorable experience !!
I highly recommend this tour company! They were extremely responsive, even replying to my message at 6.30 am when I had an urgent request. Our guide, Angela, was absolutely wonderful: warm, professional, enthusiastic, highly knowledgeable, and responsive. She was patient, engaging, and clearly loves sharing her knowledge and connecting with people. Her warm energy and lovely smile made the tour especially enjoyable.
This was an awesome and informative tour. Angela was a great tour guide. She arranged everything and moved us through the crowds well.
This was the best experience, Angela was very detailed and was very knowledgeable, I loved both experiences and encourage others to try this as well
Pre booking information for was very good and Angela the tour guide met us at location. However tour 12 noon had to go to 3 lines to gain entry to T Square including getting on a bus so first 90 minutes were not great. After that a very informative tour and Angela made up for the earlier issues - thank you !
Angela was amazing. She was friendly, fun and very knowledgeable. She was passionate about the history of China and this showed through her deliverance of the tour. Thank you
We loved the experience! We booked last minute for the afternoon, which was wiser since there was no cue. Morning time i think it was very crowded especially in this time of the year. We loved Angela, our guide, very-very knowledgeable, talkative and funny! Highly recommended!
Our guide Angela was amazing!! Very caring about everyone and speaks very clear English!! That's why they get a high score despite the messy process/communication leading up to the your. Less than 24 before I received a messages tiananmen square was closed the next day. We couldn't move it to the next day and the organisation was being difficult about it, they were not replying, so I stayed up until midnight waiting so when I asked for official proof the square was gonna be closed, 10 minutes later it was all in order and we could go to the square. So considering entrance fee was 80 yuan and we paid 230 this was a bit poor from the organisation.
Garry is a very nice and funny tour guide
Gary was amazing and helpful .he explained everything very well

thankyou angela, great tour guide!!!
Angela our guide was great on our tour! Despite being late due to the crazy Beijing traffic, she welcomed us in instantly and then proceeded to give us a lovely tour of arguably the most famous two landmarks of Beijing. 10 out of 10 experience I would for sure recommend it to anyone visiting.
Michael was a wonderful guide! Highly recommend :) It was peak season when we travelled into Beijing yet he made it such a beautiful experience.
Did this tour with Angela as our tour guide. Great experience, highly recommend her! She knows the ins and outs of both places and explained all the history to us. Also picked out some great spots for photos.

We had an amazing half-day tour of the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square in Beijing with Bill from Catherine Lu Tours. It was truly a 5-star experience! Bill was incredibly knowledgeable, punctual, and very respectful throughout the tour. He shared fascinating insights about the history and culture of Beijing, making our visit even more memorable. A special thank you to Catherine Lu Tours for the excellent organization.
