Mrs Padma is an excellent tour guide, so friendly and knowledgeable. Instantly we connected with her beautiful energy and off we went on tour. Along the way we picked up so many insights and she even helped us take photos. Mr Xie was a great driver and very accommodating - highly recommend this tour !

Itinerary
Beijing One-Day Private Tour Brief Discover two of Beijing’s key historical and cultural heritages – the Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven – through our three tailored one-day tour packages. Option 1 (Budget )subway transport with metro fares included, without lunch. Covers Tiananmen Square, the UNESCO-listed Forbidden City (accompanied by a private guide), and Temple of Heaven. Option 2 (Comfort ): follows the same route as the Budget Option, but upgrades to private car transfers for hassle-free travel and includes a local lunch, plus a dedicated guide. Option 3: The In-depth option, adds the UNESCO-listed Summer Palace to the above sites (Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven). It comes with private car and a guide, allowing you to fully experience four cultural landmarks – from the imperial history of the Forbidden City to the garden charm of the Summer Palace – alongside authentic local dining.
After being picked up from your accommodation in the central area of Beijing in the morning, you will meet your private guide and start your day's journey. The first stop of your itinerary is the Temple of Heaven — a sacred imperial site where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties held annual ceremonies to pray to Heaven for blessings. Accompanied by your guide, you will wander through the courtyard surrounded by ancient, towering trees. Here, you will not only encounter local residents doing morning exercises (including tai chi, sword dancing, and group singing) and are welcome to join in to experience the vitality of daily life; you will also explore the core essence areas of the Temple of Heaven in depth: whether it is the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, the Circular Mound Altar, or the Danbi Bridge connecting the two, each spot embodies the ancient people's reverence for Heaven and Earth as well as their exquisite architectural wisdom.
Your tour starts with the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests — the most iconic structure of the Temple of Heaven. As you step in with your guide, you’ll be led back to the Ming and Qing dynasties: this grand circular building, with its triple-eaved roof and intricate wooden brackets, once served as the key site where emperors prayed for abundant crops each year. Your guide will help you visualize the solemn imperial ceremonies of the past, making this ancient architectural treasure come alive with history.
From the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, you’ll walk along the Danbi Bridge — a long, gently sloping path once reserved exclusively for emperors (symbolizing their “ascent to heaven”). At the end of the bridge lies the Huangqiongyu (Imperial Vault of Heaven), a smaller but equally elegant circular building. Originally used to store the ceremonial tablets of Heaven and imperial ancestors, its delicate blue-tiled roof and refined carvings reflect the solemnity of imperial worship. Next, head to the Echo Wall surrounding Huangqiongyu — a fascinating architectural wonder! Test its famous acoustic effect: stand at one end of the wall, whisper softly, and someone at the opposite end can hear you clearly. This clever design has amazed visitors for centuries, showcasing ancient Chinese craftsmanship.
Finally, you’ll reach the Circular Mound Altar, the most sacred spot for heaven-worshipping ceremonies. Step onto the Heavenly Heart Stone at the altar’s center — here, you can mimic Ming Dynasty emperors and “talk with heaven.” As you stand there, your guide will explain the deep Chinese beliefs tied to this site: the altar’s circular shape and layered design represent the heavens, while every detail (from the number of stone slabs to the placement of railings) follows the principles of “harmony between man and nature,” a core concept in traditional Chinese culture that emphasizes unity with the cosmos.
If you’d like to pick up unique Chinese souvenirs, you can head to the Pearl Market — it’s conveniently located right next to the Temple of Heaven, so it won’t take extra time out of your day. Here, your guide will share practical tips to help you negotiate prices, making your souvenir-shopping experience easier and more fun.
Your next stop is Tiananmen Square. You will reach there either by subway or private car. Please be aware that the Square may be temporarily closed without prior notice due to official events. In the event of such a closure, our team will promptly adjust the itinerary. We will guide you on a walk around the perimeter of the Square, providing in-depth commentary to ensure you gain comprehensive insights into this iconic landmark. Your tour guide will share relevant historical context as you view the following significant buildings from the outside: the National Museum of China, the Great Hall of the People, Chairman Mao's Memorial Hall, the Monument to the People's Heroes, and the Flagpole.
Follow your tour guide to enter the Forbidden City from its South Gate - the Meridian Gate. Situated at the core of Beijing's central axis, the Forbidden City served as the imperial palace for the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1912) dynasties, housing 24 emperors in total. Renowned for its symmetrical palace complex and architectural features of red walls and yellow tiles, it now operates as the Palace Museum, home to over one million cultural relics. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You’ll visit the most iconic highlights of the palace complex. First up is the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the grandest hall where emperors held coronations and major state ceremonies, the ultimate symbol of imperial power. Then the Hall of Central Harmony, for emperors to rest and get ready for rituals. Followed by the Hall of Preserving Harmony, the venue for royal banquets and imperial civil exams. After exploring the grand outer court, you’ll move on to the inner palace quarters – the private living area of emperors, empresses and imperial concubines, where you can catch a glimpse of the royal family’s daily life behind the red walls. Your tour ends in the stunning Imperial Garden, a lush and tranquil oasis in the north of the palace. With ancient trees, elegant rockeries and delicate pavilions, this exquisite garden was the imperial family’s beloved retreat for relaxation, offering a perfect blend of serenity and beauty to cap off your unforgettable Forbidden City experience.
From the Imperial Garden: for Option 1, you may opt to explore more areas of the palace independently, or your tour guide will provide directions to your next destination. If you select Option 2, you will first have lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a transfer back to your downtown hotel. As for Option 3, after lunch, you will head to the Summer Palace—a renowned imperial garden of the Qing Dynasty in China. It is the largest and best-preserved royal garden in the country, celebrated as a "Museum of Royal Gardens." Nestled in the western suburbs of Beijing, it is built around Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill, skillfully blending the delicate elegance of Jiangnan gardens with the grandeur of northern landscapes. Iconic structures like the Long Corridor, the Marble Boat, along with numerous historical relics and artistic treasures. After your tour of the Summer Palace concludes, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Lucy and her driver were amazing. Lucy was very knowledgeable about all the sights and knew the best places to take pictures. She also took me to a nice tea house in addition to the scheduled tour. We had the worst weather but she made the best of it.
Amazing experience, guide was friendly and knowledgeable! Would highly recommend this to family and friends !
Susan the tour guide was very professional and knowledgeable about the entire history and working of the palace museum (forbidden city) the tour also included a delicious lunch. As it was a private tour we could customize to what we wanted to do and what to skip.
I enjoyed a wonderful tour through the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven with my guide Aurora. Her English was excellent and she really knew how to avoid the lines and get us right to the best photography spots.
We have an amazing tour with Ranee, she has a perfect english and she told us about all the Chinese History we learn a lot. We recommend this tour with Ranee
Our guide Padma was awesome! She was very knowledgeable and kind. She had all of our tickets ready and was very helpful. Our driver was also very good. He would get out and open the door for us. He provided us with water and snacks as well.
We had a fantastic experience on our Beijing tour with Sherry. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire day. She did a great job explaining the history and significance of the Temple of Heaven, Tian’anmen Square, and the Forbidden City, while also making sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. One of the highlights was lunch, where Sherry took us to enjoy authentic traditional Peking duck. It was a fantastic local experience and one of the best meals we had during our trip. Sherry was easy to talk to and happy to answer all of our questions. She made the tour feel relaxed rather than rushed, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. I’d highly recommend Sherry to anyone visiting Beijing—she truly helped make our day one of the highlights of our holiday!
May was great and very knowledgable. Pick up at hotel was punctual and also the lunch of local Beijing food was delicious! Definitely would recommend this tour.
Our tour guide (Mina Li) was great. She tailored the day according to our circumstances, and was very helpful in navigating and helping us to take in all the important aspects of each site. Our driver was also great! We had a great day.
Great experience start to end. Lily was a great guide, I would recommend this tour for people who want an introduction to Chinese history.
This is a must-see itinerary that was partially disrupted because Trump chose to make his appearance in Beijing at the same time. It still merits a five-star rating because our tour guide Susan Liu’s professionalism, knowledge, experience and adaptiveness made it possible for us to visit the sights that were still accessible like the Forbidden City, and Tiananmen Square, and to enjoy substitutions like the acrobats at the Red Opera. Our driver, Chai’s, knowledge of roads and stops also helped. Between the wonderful sights, and the great assistance, we had a great time.
We had a wonderful time . Our guide was thoughtful and full of lovely stories about the Forbidden City . She made sure we had a delicious lunch and even took us to a quick tea ceremony . It was informative without being overwhelming .
This could have been a good tour had it not been for the guide. He clearly has lost his passion in doing what he does. He rushed us through the first part of the tour, and at the end of the tour he forced us and demanded we give him a 5 star, when we told him we would review and rate later (we were still at the restaurant) he insisted to the point he took the phone and wrote it himself, pretending to be us, and give himself a 5 star and changed what he had put. Also don’t like that we paid for lunch and the driver and guide ate most of the food.
After spending 2 fantastic days with our tourguide John (Big John) visiting Tian'anmen Squre, Tempel Of Heaven, Forbidden City, The Great Wall and Summer Palace. We strongly recommend til guide and touroperator. His knowledge about Chinese history, and big service attitude, made our visit in Beijing a lot easier. He helped us booking Taxis, order train ticketd gave us good recommendations about restaurants , and helped us book table. We loved the service very mush. Thank you for giving us a splending experience. Love from Alf and Eva
The trip was good. Our tour guide, Andy, was helpful and gave us a detailed overview of Temple or Heaven, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and Summer Palace. He is quite knowledgeable and passionate. We opted for lunch which was traditional food and really amazing. Overall I would definitely recommend this.
Had a great day with Mike. Really enjoyed the tour and using the public transport. He was very knowledgeable and helpful.
Great private tour with Mina on a Sunday in Beijing. We started one hour earlier to make most of the day as I had to leave in the afternoon. Mina was always ready to answer questions and has deep knowledge on Chinese history. She explained also very well when I got more interested in Chinese characters (eg. composition and meaning, or simplified and traditional). I saw and learned so much I think my brain still needs some time to fully process. Also clean and comfortable car with Jiang Miao as driver shuttling us professionally around. Overall, it was eight hours perfectly spent. Thanks again, Mina and Jiang Miao!
My son and I had an amazing day today on this tour with our guide Sherry and driver Liu. Both were extremely attentive, and Sherry’s knowledge of the sites and their history was impressive. We highly recommend this tour!
If you can get Ranee for your tour guide you will be very lucky!! Ranee and the drivers choir have been more accommodating!! We feel we crammed as much as we could in 2 days with her! She was organized, knowledgeable, fluent in English and pleasant to be around. We had many questions and she was able to answer everything!
We had such a wonderful time touring all the historic spots today! We learned so much from our tour guide Sherry and we highly recommend a tour with her! :)
I just spent an amazing day in Beijing. I chose the private option using the subway/bus and Ranee was the best. She arrived on time for pick up and helped me navigate the transport system. Line for Tiananmen Square was terrible but time flew because she shared fascinating information about Chinese history. Pace was perfect and visit to the Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven was lovely. I didn’t chose the option with lunch included but Ranee suggested a place with delicious dumplings that I really enjoyed.
The tour was wonderful. Andy, the tour guide was incredibly helpful and Mr. Bai, the driver was great. The information was useful and the tour ran smoothly.
Lucy was a wonderful guide for the day. Her English is very good and she has a lot of knowledge of the history to share. As a solo female traveller I felt very safe with Lucy, she also took some lovely photos of me at the different sites. The private car dropped Lucy and I off at each destination and picked us up where ever we needed, it was a seamless experience. All tickets etc were taken care of, lunch was very good food, and far more food than we could eat. I also visited a tea house and silk factory as had a little bit of extra time at the end of the day, which was great. The Forbidden City was wonderful to see, I went in winter so the crowds were not too bad, although I think spring would be nice, with all the trees in bloom.
I had a very nice day with Susan who showed me the classics of Beijing - Tiananmen square, Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven. She knew where we can skip the lines and explained me a lot, and her English was great. I would have felt overwhelmed without her so highly recommend!
We had an amazing tour day visiting Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the Temple of Heaven. Standing in Tiananmen Square, one of the largest public squares in the world, gave us a real sense of China’s modern history. Walking through the Forbidden City was breathtaking, the intricate palaces, courtyards, and ancient architecture truly showcased the grandeur of the Ming and Qing dynasties. At the Temple of Heaven, we admired the stunning circular design and learned how emperors once prayed there for good harvests. A special thanks to our very knowledgeable guide, Andy, who shared fascinating stories and historical context at every stop, making the experience unforgettable. Also thank you to our driver for safely transporting us today. I highly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to explore Beijing’s rich cultural heritage!

She was incredibly knowledgeable and brought the history of each site to life with stories, context, and details we would never have picked up on our own. Her English was perfect, and she has a warm, engaging personality that made the entire day enjoyable and easy. The logistics were flawless—our driver was excellent, always right on time, and we had a brand-new, very comfortable car that made getting between sites super smooth. Everything was organized beautifully and we never felt rushed. Overall, this was one of the best guided tours we’ve ever taken. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Beijing!

It was a wonderful day. Our guide, Allen, was on time and was so friendly! The moment we talked, we felt at home. He gave us so much information about the place we went to and I learned a lot! The Forbidden Palace is huge and we would not have done all this, and learned, without a guide. Overall, highly recommended! Our driver (forgot his name) drove safely and was friendly as well. Thanks for the hospitality!

You are lucky if Allan is your tour guide. He is very friendly and knowledgeable. Everything was done on time. No rush at all, take your time to take hundreds of photos 👍👍👍
The forbidden city is amazing, couple that with temple of heaven and tian an men, you get a very efficient way of seeing key attractions in 1 tour. Our guide John was experienced and able to facilitate the tour well. If there was one thing i found missing in John is passion. Perhaps bringing tourist there for 20 years can shave some of that off.
Had a great day seeing Tian’anmen square and exploring forbidden city and Temple of Heaven . John was a very knowledgeable guide for our tour with many interesting historic anecdotes. He was also good at getting us great photo scene opportunities.
We had a very good guide Leona. She was knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed the visits tremendously.
Outstanding experience … made even more so by Cindy who curated this experience for us by sharing us stories of the history, helping us smartly navigate crowds etc . We were very lucky to have her as our operator
We had an incredible day exploring the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven with our guide, Aurora. She was absolutely amazing — extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about sharing the history and culture of China. Her English was excellent, clear, and easy to understand, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Aurora brought every monument to life with fascinating stories and historical insights that we would have never known otherwise. She perfectly balanced the tour with detailed explanations and time to explore at our own pace. We highly recommend this tour and especially Aurora to anyone visiting Beijing — she made the day unforgettable!
Had a great day with Sherry. She showed me around the forbidden city and temple of heaven giving me lots of interesting information about the history. She also helped me to navigate through the crowd and streamlined the process at a vary busy tourist location. Would recommend to anyone visiting Beijing and wanting to see these famous sites.
Maria was amazing! Highly recommend. She is very knowledgeable and friendly. Her English is great! I made a mistake of booking a Great Wall sunrise tour earlier in the morning, and she was flexible and was able to accommodate. You won’t regret booking this tour ☺️
We had a fantastic day with Aurora. We saw the major sights on the tour and she shared the history and interesting facts about each location. She was patient with the crowds and navigated us through the line ups. She gave us choices for lunch and guided us to ensure we would fully enjoy the meal. The tour was well organized and would recommend this company and Aurora for a great experience.
This tour was incredibly well organized and truly the perfect way to spend a day in Beijing. Our driver and tour guide, Aurora, were both fantastic — friendly, accommodating, and always ready to help with anything we needed. Aurora was especially impressive: knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about the city’s rich history. Hearing her explain the stories behind each landmark made the experience so much more meaningful. I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to explore Beijing in a fun, comfortable, and informative way.

A wonderful tour of Beijing's best attractions with our guide! We discovered many curiosities about the city and tasted excellent local specialties! Congratulations!! Gabriele and Elena!
It was a great tour. Very much recommend this tour, and Cindy our guide was fabulous. She was good with our 10 year old, gave some education, but not OVER education where our little guy was bored. Even at the end of the day Cindy helped us arrange tickets for the acrobatic show.
