We love the hotel for its spacious room and well thought design in the rooms and facilities, the cleanliness across it's facilities (not those dusty and musky smell that we get in a lot of international-branded hotels) and it's service level.
However we were pretty disappointed with the quality and variety of drinks at the executive lounge. The whiskey was lousy (Jim Bean), wine selection was terrible. There were no consistency for food served Shang Palace.
Location - not the best but alongside the river. Great views from the room, but nothing within walking distance (unlike other hotels further down the river).
Overall, a 3 star.
An upscale hotel in Tianjin which is ideally located close to the river and in Biz District. Clean and very well maintained as any other Shangri-La Property. First choice always when in Tianjin
I had a very enjoyable stay overall. The hotel has an excellent location, making it easy to get around, and the staff were kind and welcoming. The rooms were well soundproofed, which ensured a quiet night’s sleep, and the beds were very comfortable. I especially loved the beautiful river views, which became even more stunning in the evenings with the colorful lights. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of variety, and the on-site restaurant was also very good. I also appreciated that all the basic amenities were provided, including tea/coffee makers in the room.
However, one area that could be improved is the deposit policy. I was asked to pay around 1000 RMB as a deposit, which will only be reimbursed after check-out. I have not yet received the refund, and the staff mentioned it may take one or two weeks. This process feels inconvenient, especially for travelers. It would be better if the hotel could simply take card details as security rather than requiring such a large advance payment.
Overall, this is a wonderful place to stay with many positives, but the deposit system is something to be aware of in advance
Bedroom is generally ok but aircon doesn't really work so was too hot, some tv channels reception were bad. Standing shower room needs cleaning.
Thank you so much for the lovely stay. We came to Tianjin for my husband's birthday but the first hotel we booked was not good, we felt so disappointed. We decided to move hotel for our last night and booked the Shangri-la Tianjin. It was the best decision we could have made. Niki gave us a warm welcome at reception, she was so accommodating, she helped us to get an early check-in and the concierge immediately saw it was my husband's birthday while checking his passport. They promised him a cake and were very helpful with the check-in and checkout proces. We paid a bit extra for the lounge access and the lounge was beautiful with lovely staff there too. The room was clean, with great amenities, plus we had a wonderful view of the river. Thank you so much to all the staff at Shangri-la Tianjin for saving our weekend and making my husband's birthday an extra happy one!
