Staying in Wangfujing was a smart idea. The hotel itself was great. COCO at the reception was more than accommodating. She was professional and all smiles. The room was spacious enough, with great view. The bed was comfortable and the ac was cold enough. I did not try the WiFi to be honest. But the breakfast was delicious. Even for those who do not eat Asian. The Wangfujing area is great for walking and cycling as well.

We stayed here for 10 nights in the middle of August. We used free night certificates for the entire stay, due to two Chase Marriott credit card sign up bonuses, and added a few thousand Marriott points on a few nights. We are only Silver level, but were still upgraded to a city view on the 10th floor. Our housekeeping guy was the best. He was friendly and helpful each time we saw him, and any time we asked him for something. My wife speaks Mandarin, so I'm not sure how the communication would go in another language. But Google Translate solves lots of problems, and I did not have to use my VPN to utilize this app here. The room was a good size, with very comfortable bedding and pillows. And I was able to figure out the AC easy enough. The roomy tub was a blessing, as we walked almost 20k steps almost every day here in Beijing, and I used the tub at least every other day. There is also a large lap pool, jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna down indoors on the third floor. You must buy a swim cap, or use your own. But the facilities were modern and clean. The main negative was the wifi. It would not permit use of a VPN, which I've found is common with public wifi in Beijing. But even without the VPN, the wifi service was quite slow. My wife called customer service at the hotel to troubleshoot it, but that was not the solution. As difficult as the wifi issue made planning our trip while we were here, the positives at this hotel far outweighed the negatives. The location is great. You are close to Line 8 and Line 5 of the subway system. It is also a short walk to Wangfujing Shopping Street, where there are many department stores and malls and places for food, drink, and all the snacks. I'd be happy to stay here again.
Renaissance Beijing was a very disappointing hotel experience. I had to stay for one night, and since I was traveling alone, I booked the simplest, lowest-priced room available. When I entered the room, I discovered it had no window at all—no glass window either. The room was completely sealed and had a strong, unpleasant smell. Even the hallway/galleries outside the room had bad odors, and the overall environment felt suffocating. After some time, hotel staff contacted me to ask if I wanted to upgrade my room. It seemed they already knew this would be the case. However, this was not clearly mentioned on Trip.com, so I was not informed that the room would be sealed like that. This was honestly the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I would have chosen a smaller, local hotel instead.Renaissance Beijing was a very disappointing hotel experience. Absolutely great location and good staff to make your stay memorable. We stayed for 5 days first with a wonderful room with palace view and access to 17th floor lounge for breakfast, high tea, dinner. Later after returning from our short trip away from Beijing, we stayed for 7 nights at the same hotel. They even let us leave our luggage with concierge while we were away for another trip in between. Rooms were clean, concierge staff is helpful and eager to help. The check in process was slow which needs some improvement other than that it was a wonderful stay nearby walking or taking metro was convenient. PEK airport is just 45min away.
The Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel is perfectly situated in the Wangfujing shopping district, within easy walking distance to the Forbidden City, Wangfujing Street, and Jingshan Park. If you enjoy walking, you can even stroll to Nanluoguxiang or Houhai without any issue. The front desk staff are professional without being overly fussy. Even without any pre-arrival requests, I was automatically upgraded as a Titanium member to a room on the Executive Floor (the highest floor) with a distant view of the Forbidden City. The next day while touring the Forbidden City, I could see the hotel from the palace grounds, which instantly amplified my sense of happiness! The hotel buffet breakfast offered by the front desk is very reasonably priced (especially compared to North America), costing less than $15 USD per person. The selection is incredibly rich, and they even make fresh, hand-pulled noodles on the spot—outstanding value for a paid breakfast. The lounge boasts a great view, and the Happy Hour we experienced was handled with genuine care and dedication. The concierge team was also exceptionally warm, offering a true taste of traditional Beijing hospitality. After checkout, I contacted the front desk regarding a missing points claim. The staff promised they would follow up with the loyalty center within 10+ working days, and they proved to be completely trustworthy. I highly recommend the Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel and will definitely bring my family back for another stay.
