JW Marriott Beijing at Jianguo Road has become my preferred hotel whenever I visit Beijing. The service is consistently impeccable, and every aspect of the guest experience is handled with remarkable attention to detail. Everything is well-organized, right down to the handling of my Taobao deliveries, which are always managed seamlessly. During this stay, I had an experience that truly exemplified Marriott’s exceptional hospitality. I was having dinner in the Executive Lounge and was looking for the vanilla macarons that I had enjoyed earlier in the day. Unfortunately, they had run out. Yoyo, one of the lounge associates, noticed me searching for them and kindly apologised that there were no vanilla macarons left. I thanked her and thought nothing more of it. A few minutes later, to my complete surprise, Yoyo returned with a plate of vanilla macarons that she had personally gone to collect from the hotel’s restaurant on the ground floor. She then thoughtfully packed eight macarons into a takeaway box and encouraged me to bring them home, knowing that I would be flying the following day. It wasn’t the macarons themselves that made the biggest impression, it was the thoughtfulness behind the gesture. Yoyo paid attention to something I hadn’t even requested, anticipated what would make my stay a little more special, and went well beyond what anyone would reasonably expect. That level of attentiveness, initiative, and genuine care is increasingly rare and is what transforms excellent service into a truly memorable guest experience.
I stayed at the Marriott for a few days and had previously stayed at other hotel chains. I already knew that, since I was in China, communication might be more challenging. However, I encountered a somewhat concerning situation: very few staff members spoke English. This was not a major issue at the front desk, but during breakfast and other meals at the hotel, communication was quite difficult. At times, even simple requests, such as asking for salt, were not understood. I do not believe this is the employees’ fault, but rather the hotel’s responsibility. In my opinion, the company should invest more in staff training. It is not reasonable to expect employees, who may not earn high salaries, to pay for learning another language on their own. Offering complimentary English classes to staff would make a significant difference in the experience of international guests. Despite the language barrier, the staff were always polite and willing to help, and I was able to receive assistance every day, even if it sometimes required extra effort. The buffet is good, although on a few occasions I felt that some of the food had been reheated or had been sitting out for too long. In addition, the meat station was often confusing, and some of the dishes I ordered arrived incorrectly. On the positive side, the room is excellent, and the overall service is very good. With greater investment in English training for its staff, I believe Marriott could provide an even more complete experience that better reflects the high international standards of the brand.
We stayed at the 5-star hotel "JW Marriott Hotel Beijing" in Beijing. I needed to stay for one night to visit Universal Studios Beijing and a restaurant I'd been wanting to try. I had arranged for both airport transfers and transfers to Universal Studios Beijing, which made the experience very convenient. I didn't go, so I can't say for sure, but it seems to be adjacent to a high-end shopping mall. The room was spacious and comfortable, and I had no particular complaints. However, I was surprised when the cleaning staff entered our room without our permission. This was the first time I'd experienced something like this at a 5-star hotel. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of food, but the taste was just average.
Situated beside a really posh mall. I had the privilege as a platinum member to use the lounge and I must say the staff in the lounge are excellent. Very courteous, attentive and self motivated. I felt compelled to share some of my Pandan cake I brought from my home country with the staff out of gratitude. The rooms are as expected for a JW.
